ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
Rose Masterpol has worked for three decades as a contemporary abstract painter. She is influenced by a wide range of interests and hobbies, from poetry and music, to her graphic design career.
Masterpol’s work is ever-evolving due to her intuitive approach to painting—her abstractions stream from De Stijl to Fauvism to expressionism to the pure abstract realm. No matter the style, her large-scale works are always expressive, bold, and balanced.

FEATURED SERIES Geometrix
"These living forms—and I consider them living, maybe even sentient—connect, overlap, entangle as they focus and evolve, their lines migrating and meandering into affirmations of intertwined understanding."
Masterpol’s Geometrix series is influenced by her 30 year career as a graphic designer. Unlike her gestural works, these paintings are planned out beforehand and then precisely executed. Geometric forms are carefully choreographed on the canvas, creating color relationships, movement, and tension.

FEATURED SERIES Runic
The runic alphabet was a writing system used by various Germanic languages beginning as early as the 1st century AD. The original meaning of the word rune is "secret, or something hidden." Masterpol takes a particular interest in the esoteric side of these characters—some indications show that the early runes were not used so much for writing, but rather as magical signs in charms and divination. Each painting in this series consecrates a different rune, with its own symbolism and history.
