MERSUKA DOPAZO

Mersuka Dopazo sees her work as a “travelogue from unexpected territory.” The Spanish artist creates large-scale naïve-style collages using fabric and hand-made, natural papers. These special materials are sourced all over the world, directly from the craftsman. Often densely patterned, the papers and fabrics are juxtaposed with gestural line, pigment and areas of gessoed white canvas. Unexpected connections form between clashing textures and motifs and between the regularity of pattern and the free form of broken graphite and improvised color.

JOSEPH ADOLPHE

Within Adolphe's body of work there is a rich diversity of subjects, all of which speak to an underlying conviction that the world our senses perceive reflects deeper metaphysical connections to the worlds both beyond and within. His paintings share an underlying interest in the universal, yet also reflect an intimate autobiographical context that seeks to come to terms with those forces that shape his life. As much as Joseph strives to capture the physical essence of a created thing, he also tries to give form to the forces that shape the created thing.

BEATRIZ SIMON

Beatriz Simon's work is fueled by her interest in self-fullfillment, and encourages the acceptance of imperfection. Although her work is abstract, the human is ever present — through hands, dripping, handwriting, imperfection, scratching, and improvisation. All elements of the painting tell the story of the person who created it. Just as the human being is made up of various elements, so are Simon’s paintings. She mixes mediums, layers, and expressive movements that come together in each piece to create a sense of wholeness.
