CRAIG ALAN Artist Spotlight “Inspiration begins with a ‘What if…’ as I consider alternate imagery, surfaces, effects, results, etc. It comes from the past in conjunction with now. Like a bolt of lightning."
Craig Alan was born in 1971 in San Bernardino, California. Upon moving to New Orleans as a child, Alan worked as a street portrait artist, using the opportunity to practice his figure drawing, as well as earn money for school and supplies. Creative vision came naturally to Alan and he continued to develop technically and conceptually through his own studies. Inspired by the bird’s eye view from a sixth floor balcony, Craig Alan’s innovative “Populous” series reflects on everyday life. It reminds us to take a step back and look at the world on a much larger scale.
