Great design calls for great art (and vice versa!)

We love to see an interior designer complete their vision with the perfect work of art, or even design a room around an inspirational piece.

We asked some of our talented design partners to share their favorite piece from our collection... check out what they’re loving.

I love art that evokes my imagination and transports me elsewhere, allowing me to complete the story. In this piece, the late afternoon breeze blowing in from the Atlantic whips up the drapes in the open windows, bringing the scene to life. The use of perspective and light draws me inside the room with the painting and the shadows on the wall hint at what’s inside.

ELLEN ROBERTS & JENNIFER RIFFLE

We love the colors and energy in this piece. The textural quality adds even more appeal when you see it up close and in person.

drawn to JOSEPH ADOLPHE, A WHISPER NO. 2

This large-scale piece has so much energy and movement. I am drawn to the loose brush strokes and the luminous quality of the floating object in the center. The fabric is rendered in a more traditional style, which creates some tension against the modern landscape it flies over. This would look dramatic in a living room, or even a bedroom suite in a modern home, but it honestly could work anywhere. It reminds me of clouds on a beautiful summer day.”

Art is so personal. I find the colors, layers and scale in Sherri Belassen’s work so intriguing. The technique combined with the subject matter speaks to my sense of adventure and I keep coming back to them again and again!

SRINJOY, ICON GLAMOUR III

Icon Glamour III is both alluring and mysterious. I am drawn to the artwork as it reminds me of the movie My Fair Lady. I have always adored Audrey Hepburn. An Icon representing both beauty and grace.

admiring MATT NEUMAN, COILS XXV

I love the colors - the greens, blues, and teals are very much in my wheelhouse, but the orange accents really make it something special. It’s a color combo you don’t see everyday, and I like that; there’s originality there. There’s also the fact that it’s framed in acrylic, which I love and another unique aspect to the piece.

WENDY WESTLAKE, FREQUENTLY RECOGNIZED

I absolutely love these modern pieces from Wendy Westlake where she is using figure ground reversal. The bold shapes and colors are spectacular, especially for all of the neutral interiors we’ve been designing recently. The large scale and a high contrast are prefect and very dramatic!

I love the elegance of the woman in the hat. The detailing of color and pattern in the figure draws your eye in at a micro level, and the contrast of the colors against the white textured ground makes the woman pop off the canvas.

enjoying CAROL O’MALIA, BACK AGAIN

I have always loved this series of pieces from Carol O’Malia.

I love how realistic they look, the color palette and that it makes me want to reach out and grab them!
