Staff News Messe Maideners Christmas Hunt MF Dinos Team in Focus MF Weddings Team Lunch Out
Christmas and New Year is right around the corner, marking the end of an eventful year for Messe Frankfurt Middle East, particularly in the last six months, where we’ve added the 24th floor to our office-base, and of course, undergone some organizational change. We’ve grown significantly in the last ten years, from two dozen or so employees to nearly 150. The structural changes we saw earlier this year were needed to position ourselves for the next stage in our growth and development as an organisation. We’re no longer a small company, but a mid-sized corporation and we want to continue to grow and be successful. From a leadership perspective, the changes saw the formation of two senior teams within our business; an Executive Board (CEO + COO) and the MFME Leadership Team made up of the Executive Board plus all of the directors reporting into the Board. We will briefly introduce you to your new Leadership Team in this edition of The Buzz. One of the key tasks of the leadership for 2018 is to lay out a new company vision and strategic plan that involves every one of you. On that note, we’d like to thank all those who participated in our recent ‘Your Voice’ HR survey in November. Your feedback gave us crucial insights into where you see your future at Messe Frankfurt Middle East, and how we can together build a corporate culture that we can all be proud of, not only financially, but socially, and environmentally. The survey will now form the basis of a formal HR Strategy moving forward, of which we’ll communicate to you in more detail in the coming year. For those who took part, we again, are sincerely grateful to you for taking the time to make your contribution. This year has been a challenging year in many respects however, as in previous years, we saw overall growth again in the exhibitors, visitors, and net exhibition space covered across our event portfolio. Our eleven exhibitions in Saudi and UAE combined featured 6,219 exhibitors, while they also collectively attracted 138,094 visitors. That’s many hundreds of thousands of potential new business alliances and long-term partnerships built in one year, not to mention the invaluable knowledge sharing and educational aspects that inevitably come to the fore. And all because of your hard work and persistence. We would like to express our gratitude for your continuous support, and we’re very excited for what 2018 will bring, which by the way, includes another two brand new events! Merry Christmas and a Happy New year! The Executive Board

Like every other year, the 12th edition of Light Middle East was a spectacular event which featured 345 exhibitors from 28 countries, a revamped conference, lighting design and student competitions, an awards programme, and much more. There was a hint of sadness though, as it was Jasmeet’s swansong before he moved on to bigger and better things in his new role as Group Director of Additional Services. He leaves big boots to fill!
The 2nd edition of Prolight + Sound Middle East turned heads this year, attracting 2,200 visitors, an impressive 40 per cent bump on the inaugural edition. A major success factor was the inaugural Events Technology and Entertainment Development Forum, which featured a stellar line-up of government and professional speakers, drawing the who’s who of the live entertainment industry – a masterstroke from the team, and a solid foundation to continue to develop the show in future years.

The conference team’s flagship event was the largest yet, and the numbers reflect that: 430- international delegates, 175 organisations, 18 countries and 35 sponsors were in the mix. The increasingly exciting exhibition shined the spotlight to light the latest in electric, hybrid, connected and autonomous cars from the likes of Toyota, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, and Tesla.
