Visit Owensboro to sponsor Rooster Booster on May 2 Visit Owensboro proudly supports our community events and attractions that put people to work in Daviess County. Our growing tourism economy helps everyone in the community. Attractions like O.Z. Tyler Distillery and the brand-new Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum are driving our leisure tourism market. Our BBQ restaurants are booming with visitors from all over the United States and many international communities. Daviess County’s authenticity with Bourbon, Bluegrass and BBQ continue to dominate the Americana market. The number of visitors will grow even faster as Brand USA launches its new national and international marketing campaign naming Owensboro as one of its 10 Hear the Music cities. Our relationship with the Owensboro Convention Center is the strongest it’s ever been, and we are on

pace for record breaking years in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Our new Most Valuable Recruiter (MVR) award is helping to engage our community members to encourage them to bring their state associations’ annual conventions to Owensboro. Sports continue to play a huge role in Owensboro’s tourism. Nearly every weekend from April to October a sports tournament will occur in Owensboro. We continue to work with local event planners to attract new sporting events like pickleball and cornhole. Tourism not only supports our attractions and hotels, it also supports our restaurants, shops, and gas stations. The more money we can bring in from outside spending, the less money we must generate locally. We sincerely appreciate the hard-working people that make tourism a thriving sector of our Daviess County economy.

O.Z. Tyler Distillery was recognized as the Manufacturer of the Year at the 2019 Chamber Celebration. The O.Z. Tyler Distillery has a storied past dating back to the late 1800s. The site last produced whiskey in 1993 as the Medley Distillery and then laid dormant until it was purchased by the Terressentia Corporation in 2014. After extensive renovations, the distillery was renamed for O.Z. “Ty” Tyler, co-inventor of the TerrePURE® process, which is used to refine bourbon after it has been barrel-aged. O.Z. Tyler Distillery began producing Kentucky Bourbon in August, 2016 and is in the process of a significant expansion. Added to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail in 2018, O.Z. Tyler Distillery offers facility tours Monday through Saturday. O.Z. Tyler Distillery accepted the award from last year’s recipient, Sun Windows, Inc.
