It will automatically adjust the temperature in your house, saving you energy while you’re out for the day, away on vacation or sleeping. Switch all of your lightbulbs to CFLs (compact fluorescent light) or LED bulbs. They last longer and use up to 75 percent less energy than standard incandescent bulbs, saving you money on your electric bills. Insulate well. Use insulation with a high R-value, to top up insulation in your attic. Aim for an R-value of 50 or a depth of 16 inches. For whole home efficiency, ensure other areas

of your home are well insulated, such as crawl spaces, basement headers, walls and ceilings. It will keep your house cool in the warm weather and take the stress of f your air conditioning unit. Stop air leaks around your home by sealing existing gaps and cracks. Use caulking or weather stripping around doors and windows. Installing a door sweep is also a good idea. The kitchen is beautiful as well, with many updates that lend an air of modern convenience. “We put all new appliances in the kitchen,” said Wisto. “The appliances are all slate, the countertops are granite, and the cabinetry is light-colored. It has an updated and modern look.” The master suite is located on the first floor. The master bath has a walk-in closet, his-and-her vanities, and tiled flooring. Also on the first floor are a half-bath, two closets, and a laundry room. The attached two-and-a-half car garage provides ample room for two vehicles, plus storage space for bicycles or tools. Joshua Wisto recently built a 20-by-20-foot pole barn with an automatic garage door, for additional storage. “I built the barn when we cleaned out the garage,” Wisto explained. “It’s brand new, with 12-foot ceilings.” On the second floor of the home are the three

additional bedrooms, another family room, a full bathroom, and additional closet space. All bedrooms are carpeted with their own closets, and an attic space provides even more storage room. The second floor offers a perfect place for children’s bedrooms, or even for guests. The upstairs family room is a great venue for hosting movie nights. Joshua and Jennifer Wisto, along with their six children, have enjoyed their home on Parks Road and they say that one of its best features is the spectacular view. “It has a great view because we are on a hill and also because our neighbors all have beautiful homes,” said Joshua Wisto. “There is a pond across from us and also one next door. It is just so scenic and private. There are horses and cows next door, and we have rolling hills in the backyard. Kitchen windows are often placed above counters or sinks, while bathroom windows tend to be located above tubs, beside showers or above bathroom counters.
