Do your best and protect your guests Couples planning to tie the knot have faced new and interesting challenges since 2020 thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the pandemic ebbs and flows, couples will want to consider safety procedures.

Keep your guests informed on precautions Include detailed information about the safety measures that will be implemented during the wedding on your wedding website. Include a card detailing this information in your invitation envelopes as well so all guests know what to expect when they accept your invitation. And be sure to remind guests of the safety precautions throughout your wedding day.

Check for restrictions with your vendors Some businesses are excluded from COVID-related restrictions; others are not. It’s critical to communicate with all vendors — from the venues to the caterers, photographers to stylists — about the particular guidance they must follow so they don’t run afoul of any government mandates.

Provide sanitary supplies and guest guidance Make sure hand sanitizer, soap, water and masks are readily available for all guests; some couples have even chosen to personalize such items with their monogram. Social distance markers also can be placed on the ground throughout the venue to make it easy for guests to stay six feet apart from one another.

Choose an outdoor venue The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that COVID-19 spreads most easily through person-to-person contact and that the risk of spreading the virus is greater when spending time indoors. Mitigate some of that risk by tying the knot outdoors and then hosting an outdoor reception where tables are kept at least six feet apart.
