Brescia University’s growth still serving student-centered mission As the longest-standing provider of higher education in Daviess County, Brescia University is firmly rooted in its student-centered mission to provide transforming educational opportunities to meet the individual needs of each student in pursuit of higher education. Since 1925 when it first formed as the Mount Saint Joseph College for Women, to 1948 when it became a member of the flourishing downtown in order to meet the needs of Veterans returning from WWII, to present day where it serves as the “Gateway to Downtown.” Brescia University has been a part of the fabric of the Greater Owensboro Community as well as the global population it serves. Brescia University has experienced unprecedented growth over the past five years since the launch of the Gateway campaign in 2014. Brescia completed
renovations on the Moore Center in 2017 and began construction of the C.E. Field Center for Professional Studies in 2019, which began hosting its first group of students this fall. Building on the success of the Gateway campaign, the Onward, Brescia! campaign focuses on meeting the needs of modern day learners by providing access to a modernized campus. This includes technology upgrades that have made way for a new education delivery method: mixed enrollment, where the on-ground and online access are merged to seamlessly tailor the educational experience to each individual student. Brescia is focused on producing servant leaders whose lives exemplify leadership capabilities balanced with the responsibility of service. It is what we call the Brescia Difference: Respect for the Sacred; Devotion to Learning; Commitment to Growth in Virtue; and Promotion of Servant Leadership.
