TEAM FORMATION INFORMATION
• School Teams – All Fall/Winter leagues will have school teams to the best of our ability depending on:
› The number of participants registered from each elementary school
› The number of coaches available for each school
› Summer league will be mixed
NEW! PARTICIPATION NUMBERS LIMITED TO AMOUNT OF VOLUNTEER COACHES AVAILABLE
Volunteer Coaching can be nothing short of awarding and fun! With it also takes some time and effort to provide good quality recreation guidance and opportunities to our youth! Beginning in May of 2024 we will be implementing a limited number of enrollments to ensure we have enough quality volunteer coaches available to cover the number of teams we have. This will be broken down in the format below:
Each league division (grade/age level) will have a set number of spots open pending each sport we offer. These would be for our core sports (Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Wiffleball, Tball, Softball, Baseball):
Spring/Summer Leagues 40
Fall Leagues 36
Winter Leagues 32
Once the spots are full, we will open additional spots pending the commitment of a volunteer coach. For example, if all 40 spots are filled for spring/summer leagues and a volunteer emails us to coach, an additional 8-10 spots will open.
If there are under 30 participants, we will not offer league style play. Rather, it will be either weekly skills camps/scrimmages or a 1–3-day skills camp.
Head coaching incentive-
In conclusion of the season you will be refunded to your parks and recreation account the full league fee. This is for the coach who leads the team, does the team communication, and attends all meeting times.

• Must be 16 years or older
Swim Lesson Reminders:
• If you decide to sign your child up for multiple lesson sessions, they must be the same level, even if they passed unless we deem necessary to move them. This is critical for teacher/participant ratio and planning. Students may pass the base level skills but may not be ready for the next level due to deeper water or longer distances required to swim.
• Yellow 1 & 2, Parent and Child, and private lessons are 30-minute lessons. Blue 1 & 2, Green 1 & 2, and Orange 1 & 2 are 45-minute lessons.
• Call the office if you need help determining what level your child should be in. We have last year’s records.
• Classes need a minimum of 5 participants to be held. If a class needs to be canceled, we will do our best to find a session & time that works for you, if we cannot you will receive a credit on your ActiveNet account.
• All lessons are on Mondays & Wednesdays for 4 weeks. If a class is cancelled because of weather, it will be made up on that same Friday.
• We do our best to have lessons each day and will only cancel because of storms that produce thunder or lightning. We will still have lessons on cool days, but those will be based out of water with safety lessons, facility tours, and even practicing skills on the pool deck.

Foster Grandparent Program
Put your talent and experience to work helping local children become better students as a Foster Grandparent. Serving just a few hours each week in schools or Head Start classrooms, you can make the future brighter for students who struggle with academic and/or social skills.
Through the AmeriCorps Seniors network of programs, Foster Grandparents must be at least 55 years of age and willing to commit to a regular schedule during the school year. Applicants who meet income requirements also receive an hourly non-taxable stipend and other benefits.
Everyone who volunteers as a Foster Grandparent receives the satisfaction of knowing they make a difference. Now accepting applications for fall placement in Webster and Calhoun County schools.
Why become a Foster Grandparent?
• Foster Grandparents are tutors, mentors, role models, and friends
• Children assigned to Foster Grandparents benefit from one-on-one help that contributes to meeting school-identified progress standards
• Foster Grandparents can serve children aged 0 – 18 years. Currently, we have Foster Grandparents placed in Preschool through 3rd-grade classrooms
• Reading, math, and social skills are the primary focus
No teaching experience is needed, we will train you! Call us at 515-576-5401 for more information and to become a member of the 2024 Spring Training Class!
