Fire Fighter Show

What comes off as entertaining and fun today may save a life in the future. Throughout the show the audience is encouraged to cheer on our new trainees, as the shows activities become a friendly competition between our volunteer firefighters. The winner or team that wins our competition is our 1st place team and as a reward they get to climb tower one and aim its water cannon at which ever part of the audience they feel wasn’t cheering them on during the earlier events. The show ends with our fire tower water cannon shot. (fun paper streamers shot high into the air over an audience expecting they’re about to get 3000 gallons per minute wet)

Glass Blowing

From melting temperature and centrifugal force to the elasticity of glass and combustion, students will learn the many scientific connections surrounding the art of glassblowing.

We Fix Problem Water

Your Chemicals are only as good as the Water you mix them with

Problem Water affects many farms and acreages across Iowa. These problems can range from real health concerns like E.coli, Nitrates, and Arsenic to aesthetic issues like poor clarity or even a bad smell. Identifying the cause of the problem is always the best place to start. Have your water tested by the county or state at least once per year, these tests are generally free at the county extension office and will ensure that you have water free from E.coli or coliform bacteria. These tests will help you to identify possible problems you could have with your water. The other thing to look at is what is the color, smell, taste of the water. Does it pour out of the faucet clear or dirty, does it leave red or gray stains on surfaces, any hint of rotten egg odor, does it taste metallic or sour? Different water requires different equipment, there is no one-size fits all when it comes to water treatment. Different filters remove different things, a softener will remove hardness, manganese, and a little iron, but will do nothing kill bacteria. Iron frequently has to be oxidized before it can be filtered out, other things like tannins can make the iron sticky and more difficult to filter out. These test are really not any different than having your soil tested to know what nutrients the soil needs to deliver the best Yield. Having your water tested to know what it needs to be the best water, for you and your application. I am biased to my own company, but I also know of many other reputable water treatment companies that should be able to provide you with all of the above tests and a recommendation of the correct equipment to treat it. If your water smells, tastes bad, stains your fixtures, or you just don’t like it, we have ways to fix your problem water. - Brian Pederson

Rick Titus in His 47th Year of Selling and Installing More Efficient Fireplace Inserts & Vent Free Gas Logs. - photo by Les Houser, Wright County Monitor

If you have a fireplace that burns wood, you know that it loses all of its heat up the chimney. Rick Titus has a wood burning insert that will burn with the efficiency of a wood stove and fit inside your fireplace so it keeps your fireplace look. If you have a gas log in your fireplace it also sends all of its heat up the chimney. Rick has Vent Free gas logs that can burn as efficient as a gas cook stove and burn with the damper closed, thus keeping all the heat in the house. If you have one of the newer gas fireplaces that vents out the side of the home or up a chimney, Rick can convert it over to a Vent Free log and keep all the heat in the home. So no matter what kind of fireplace you may have, Rick has an efficient solution for it. Call Rick or email him at yahtitus@gmail.com or go to his web site below. Rick even has new fireplaces and wood stoves that can heat your home even during a power outage.

Call Rick at 515-532-3881 or 515-293-2455 or visit www.fireplacesatthecountrystore.com
