“We will be a 110% carbon-neutral event venue by 2029, which is the 110th anniversary of Messukeskus. We will reach our goals by reducing energy consumption, increasing the share of renewable energy and utilising carbon neutral alternatives. We will also emphasise corporate responsibility in all our procurement processes,” says Anni Vepsäläinen, Messukeskus CEO.

110 % carbon-neutral by 2029 Messukeskus Helsinki, Expo and Convention Centre has defined the objectives of its environmental work. Finland’s largest event venue is leading the way in corporate responsibility by increasing the share of renewable energy and by utilising carbon-neutral alternatives in its business operations. Sustainability is embedded in everything Messukeskus Helsinki does. Our mission since 1919 has been to have a positive economic impact on the region and for our clients. Our economic stability is complemented by our long-term commitment to environmental sustainability. Our track record on environmental action is welldocumented. In 2019, one of the largest solar plants in Finland was installed on the roof.
Our commitment to sustainability includes the social and cultural environment. A portion of our ticket sales is donated to charity. We have a creative cooperation with UNICEF, offering visibility and donations to the organization, but also having UNICEF staff to train Messukeskus exhibitors on sales skills.
As an employer, we value a diverse workforce and welcome those with varying abilities. Our facilities – for both staff and visitors – are fully accessible. All staff members are encouraged to use one paid workday each year for volunteer work.
Nature meets urban vibe Helsinki is the most exotic and affordable Nordic capital, with one of the most competitive economies and a buzzing startup life. Helsinki is a city of fresh air and accessible nature: 123 km of coastline and 315 islands. Summer daytime temperatures: 18−30°C.

“The European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology meeting in Helsinki in June 2017 was a complete success with the biggest ever attendance of more than 8,000 participants from everywhere in the world. The first step in attracting a major conference to Finland is to convince the organizers of the good location, venue and infrastructure. For this purpose, we could not have asked for a better team and support than the Helsinki Convention Bureau and Messukeskus Helsinki Exhibition and Congress Centre gave us. They kept their promises in everything and were there until the last minute making sure our conference delegates had a great meeting.” – Professor Mika Mäkelä | EAACI 2017 Secretary
“Thank you for being so professional, helpful, flexible, proactive and at the same time always nice, smiling and with a good sense of humour. You made it easy for us turning EUROSPINE 2019 into a big success.” – Grit Költringer, MBA, Senior Project Manager | Mondial Congress & Events
