Lean Workshop for Entrepreneurs Course Outline

The Workshop for Entrepreneurs consists of 16 + 1 session. The goal of the Workshop is to show participants how they can plan, build up and run a successful business venture in an ethical and sustainable way. Furthermore, the Workshop provides practical, real-life knowledge and first-hand experience in business, business logic, business development and business operations. In addition, there are many opportunities for networking with investors and experienced entrepreneurs. The 16+1 sessions are (+1 being the G贸lya T谩bor): 0. G贸lya T谩bor This opening session, conducted by the organizers, will serve as an overview of the Lean Workshop for Entrepreneurs. It involves many of the upcoming speakers, prior Workshop participants and other guests. It is the first opportunity to experience the Workshop community.


The Prototype Validation (Sessions 1-6) The goal of these 6 sessions is to validate the problem and the solution and to introduce the iteration thinking. Participants meet lean methods and tools in practice via groupworks and homeworks. Feedback collection and solution finetuning will continue during the Strategic Business Planning sessions. Sessions’ Structure: • Team status presentations + feedbacks • Topic presentations by guest speakers + questions • Groupwork with coaches.

3. Problem and Idea Finetuning Problem – Solution Fit: targeting, customer segmentation, personas. Groupwork. 4. Solution Sketch How to create a good value proposition. Sketching techniques. Groupwork. 5. Solution Validation Solution validation techniques and examples. Groupwork. 6. Solution Finetuning Product – Market Fit presentation. Lean experiences and best practices presentation. Groupwork.

The Prototype Validation Sessions: 1. Lean Basics and Idea Pitching Course introduction, principles, schedule. Lean game. Idea pitching. 2. Team Creation and Problem Validation Individual idea. Team creation. Problem validation: interview techniques, problem hypothesis testing and tracking. Groupwork.

7. Interim Presentation: the Prototype. Teams present the prototype/MVP they developed.


The Strategic Business Plan for Growth (SBP) (Sessions 8-16) The goal of these 9 sessions is to create their strategic, growthoriented business plans. Sessions’ Structure: • Team status presentations + feedbacks • Topic presentations by guest speakers + questions • Groupwork with coaches. The SBP Sessions: 8. The Product or Service Teams present their product or service, including the vision, logic and the business case for their selection. 9. The Market Teams present market research and data taken from customer feedback on the MVP to prove their estimates of their initial and future markets. 10. The Competition Teams present their competitors, indicating the strengths, weaknesses and market share of each. 11. Sales Teams present their sales strategies: how they will convert ideas and assets into a strong market position. 12. Marketing Teams present

their

marketing

strategies, sales channels, sales compensation, pricing strategy, promotional activities. They explain their plan for distribution and “roll out”. 13. Management and Operations Teams present how they will build up a strong and experienced Management team that can be relied upon to execute the vision. 14. Financial Projections I. Teams present their assumptions, quantitative and qualitative data in a professional excel spreadsheet. They analyze and evaluate the expected outcome of their start-ups and consider various financing alternatives. The projections include an estimated balance sheet and cash flow oriented profit and loss statement. 15. Financial Projections II. The Teams are expected to present their up-dated financial plans and SBP’s, for further review by the speaker and others. 16. Business History and Executive Summary Teams present their Business History and their Executive Summary. This session serves as a dress rehearsal for the final presentations.

17. Final Presentations Teams present their prototype/MVP and strategic business plan before a panel of Investors. The panel will select a winner.
