History made across New York History was made in New York City yesterday: 484 couples wed across the five boroughs as same-sex nuptials officially became legal for the first time in the state. By 9 a.m., over 250 people were lined up outside the Manhattan City Clerk’s Office. Across the East River, the first gay couple to be married at Brooklyn

Borough Hall was Stacey Minondo and Barbara Tremblay, downtown Brooklyn residents and partners of eight years. The two women became emotional as they recited their vows and Judge Bernard Graham told Tremblay to take her time as she stopped to wipe away tears. The sense of jubilation was not limited to same-
sex couples. Cobble Hill resident Steve Landis brought his twin threeyear-old girls, Emily and Sophie, to Brooklyn Borough Hall to volunteer as flower girls for any couple who wanted them. Flatbush couple Rachel, 34, and Lailah Pepe, 30, already had their ceremony on May 28, but made it legal yesterday at Brooklyn

Out of the all marriages performed in the city yesterday, the wedding of Connie Kopelov, 84, and Phyllis Siegel, 76, may stand out as the most memorable. The two elderly women — who have been together for 23 years — were one of the first three gay couples in New York City to wed. Their ceremony was performed in the East Chapel of City Hall at 8:45 a.m. Kopelov arrived in a wheelchair and stood with the assistance of a walker. As the service began,

The decentralized Web network — considered either transparency watchdogs or tech terrorists, depending on your perspective — has made headlines recently over members’ alleged hacks of major corporations. Last week, an FBI raid resulted in the arrests of 14 people connected to the “hacktivist” movement, including residents of Brooklyn and Long Island. Dr. Frank Ryan, famous plastic surgeon to the Hollywood stars, was featured on television and in magazines across the nation on an extensive basis. Before he died in a tragic car accident on the Pacific Coast Highway near his ranch in Malibu, Dr. Ryan fulfilled his lifelong dream of developing a line of products which would substantially improve personal appearance without plastic surgery. This product line, which includes an advanced abdominal fat reducer was previously only available to Dr. Ryan’s clients. It has now been made available to the public.

physical activity. People who were not exercising or dieting lost weight and pot belly as well as those who were exercising and dieting. The study also showed that Dr. Frank Ryan’s Abdominal Fat Reducer significantly increased calorie burning so that you lose weight faster or you can eat more food without gaining weight. And, the study found that the all natural Dr. Frank Ryan’s Abdominal Fat Reducer pill produced weight loss safely. How does Dr. Frank Ryan’s Abdominal Fat Reducer work? It was found in a number of research studies that a substance called Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) decreases abdominal body fat in three ways: 1.) CLA decreases abdominal body fat mass by decreasing the amount of abdominal fat that is stored after eating; 2.) CLA increases the rate of fat breakdown in abdominal fat cells; and 3.) CLA increases the rate of abdominal fat metabolism which decreases the total number of fat cells. You can think of CLA as a match that lights the fuse in abdominal fat. This fuse also increases metabolic rate that can result in more fat loss. Dr. Frank Ryan’s Abdominal Fat Reducer contains the effective dose of CLA. CLA interferes with an enzyme called lipoprotein lipase (LPL). LPL is an enzyme that helps store fat in the body. 2 So, by inhibiting this fat-storing enzyme LPL, CLA can help reduce the reaccumulation of fat. CLA also helps the body use its existing abdominal fat for energy, thereby increasing fat oxidation and energy expenditure. Dr. Frank Ryan’s Abdominal Fat Reducer also contains other super highly advanced all-natural ingredients that help reduce abdominal fat. Studies have shown that Dr. Frank Ryan’s Abdominal Fat Reducer ingredients increase the rate of fat metabolism, which reduces both surface and intestinal abdominal fat and helps inhibit future formation of these abdominal fats.3, 4, 5 One of these ingredients is a very high quality and

‘Stressful days’ as debt talks drag on White House assures there will be a deal in time, but there’s no sign of it Global markets watching closely Two parties are still deadlocked
Gas prices jump by 8.5 cents NEW YORK. The average price for a gallon of gasoline in the United States rose for the first time since early May following an increase in the price of crude oil, according to the latest nationwide Lundberg survey released yesterday. The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was slightly more than $3.70 on July 22, an increase of 8.58 cents in the past two weeks, according to the survey of some 2,500 gas stations in the continental United States.
White House officials and Republican leaders scrambled yesterday to reassure global markets the United States would avert a debt default, but the two sides gave no sign they were moving closer to a deal. White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley warned that there would be a “few stressful days” ahead for financial markets, with the
deadline to lift the $14.3 trillion U.S. borrowing limit — now only nine days away. Daley, appearing on the CBS television program “Face the Nation,” quickly added: “In the end, there’s no question in my mind the government of America will not default.” But the path forward toward a deal was murky.
What’s the big deal? Rating agencies say they will cut America’s Triple-A credit rating if the U.S. fails to meet debt payments, likely triggering global market turmoil. Even if a default is avoided, the credit rating will be under pressure if long-term deficit reduction is not addressed.
With Asian markets set to open in a few hours, Democrats and Republicans traded blame for the inability to strike an agreement. The two sides are deadlocked over Republicans demands for a shortterm debt-limit increase that would force President Barack Obama to request further borrowing authority in early 2012. REUTERS

Three rail officials fired after crash WENZHOU, CHINA. China sacked three senior railway officials yesterday after a collision between two high-speed trains killed at least 35 people and raised new questions about the safety of the fast-growing rail network. The power failure knocked out an electronic safety system designed to alert trains about stalled locomotives on the line. REUTERS

Norway mourns terror victims Norway mourned yesterday 93 people killed in a shooting spree and car bombing by a Norwegian who saw his attacks as “atrocious, but necessary” to defeat liberal immigration policies and the spread of Islam. In his first comment via a lawyer since his arrest, Anders Behring Breivik, 32, said he wanted to ex-
plain himself at a court hearing today about extending his custody. In a rambling manifesto before the attacks, Breivik said he was part of a crusade to fight a tide of Islam. “He has said that he believed the actions were atrocious, but that in his head they were necessary,” Geir Lippestad said. The lawyer said Breivik

GOP ‘nutters’ Right-wing “nutters” in the U.S. Congress holding up a deal are a greater risk to the global financial system than problems in the euro zone, a British minister said yesterday. Scientists claim new vaccine against heroin U.S. scientists claim in a report due out at the end of the month that they have developed a potential new weapon in the war on drugs: a heroin vaccine. Researchers at California’s Scripps Research Institute say that their vaccine, which has been tested on rats, produces antibodies that stop heroin from reaching the brain to release its euphoric effects. With 25 years of experience with such vaccines, the study’s lead author Kim Janda said the immunizing effect of this new drug is the best he’s ever encountered. “I haven’t seen such a strong immune response as I have with what we term a dynamic anti-heroin vaccine,” Janda said. “The hope is that such a protective vaccine will be an effective therapeutic option for those trying to break their addiction to heroin.” METRO

Drinking up with the Kardashians At the very real risk of giving them an idea for another reality show, we can all agree that — if not much else — the Kardashian girls throw an amazing bachelorette party. Khloe and Kourtney were on hand in Vegas Saturday night for Kim’s bash (she’s set to marry Kris Humphries on Aug. 20), and judging by the many, many photos that have surfaced, all their hard work drinking in front of cameras over the past few years has paid off. Looking alarmingly busi-
ness-as-usual in a tiara and pink sash, Kim crashed the boys’ party next door before returning to Tao for more suggestively shaped straws and mini male strippers. “My sisters are doing everything they can to embarrass me,” she told the crowd. Yes, well, that’s kind of the point, Kim. Now, why they have to embarrass substitute gossip columnists with precious little to write about after a weekend when seemingly no one left the air conditioning, we have no idea.

Blake and Leo still on Although there were rumors earlier this weekend that Leonardo DiCaprio and Blake Lively had split up, the pair are still very much together, sources tell Us Weekly. “They seemed very much in love,” says a source who spotted them shopping for sunglasses in Santa Barbara, Calif. He is a brave boy and is expected to make a full recovery.” Christopher reportedly incurred several broken bones and a collapsed lung and spent several days in the ICU.

Rhys Ifans arrested
Rhys Ifans speaks at “The Amazing Spider-Man” panel during Comic-Con 2011 on Friday.
Welsh actor Rhys Ifans was arrested for battery at San Diego Comic-Con after an altercation with a security guard, according to TMZ. Ifans, who was trying to re-enter the San Diego Convention Center for a panel promoting his upcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man,” was stopped by a female security guard. The actor then became “abusive, belligerent and aggressive” and shoved the guard, who made a citizen’s arrest and called the police.

AMY WINEHOUSE: 1983 – 2011
B
ritish soul singer Amy Winehouse died in her London apartment on Saturday of yet-unexplained causes, according to British police. The singer, whose battle with substance abuse was well documented, perhaps best by her own song, “Rehab,” was 27 years old. The news, like the sudden death of any young person, came as a shock — and not as a shock. She had been working on staging a comeback, but recent concert performances had been lackluster, with the singer frequently appearing too intoxicated to complete the songs that she had written that earned her five Grammys in 2008. Anyone who saw the YouTube footage of a June concert in Belgrade knew she was ill — she canceled her European tour directly after. Before Saturday, that clip was a funny train wreck. Now it looks like a cry for help.

inehouse had only released two discs of music, her last and most famous, “Back to Black,” in 2006. But although her quantity was minimal, the quality was so outstanding and revealing that it may have been all she could give. She lived her life like the lyrics she wrote: her misery, heartache and selfdestructive urges all spoke to a pain that connected to listeners around the world. She told us she was trouble. But we never believed her when she said she was no good. Here we look at the highs and lows of her all-too-short life. SAM CASTONE and PAT HEALY

Sept. 14, 1983 Amy Jade Winehouse is born in Southgate, London, to jazz-loving, Jewish parents. 1993 She forms the rap group Sweet ’n’ Sour at age 10. 1993 through her teens Winehouse goes to school, including the Sylvia Young Theatre School, which has an emphasis on performing arts. She claims she was expelled at 14, although Young disagrees and has called her “one of the greatest” despite being “disruptive in class.” 1) 2002 Winehouse’s boyfriend, singer Tyler James, sends in her demo tape. She signs with Simon Fuller, music producer and “American Idol” creator. 2) 2003 Her major label debut, “Frank,” is a critical darling, nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize, and it becomes a hit in the U.K. — though it never fully crosses over in America. 3) 2006 “Back to Black,” her old-school R&B collaboration with music producer Mark Ronson, features hits “You Know I’m No Good” and “Rehab.” This — along with her beehive hairdo — makes her an international megastar. Metro photographer Nathan Fried-Lipski captures her on the streets of Boston on the day of her show on this landmark tour. 4) 2008 With five awards, she wins the most Grammys ever by a female British act, nabbing awards for Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year. She is seen here hugging her mother, Janis Winehouse, after receiving the Record of the Year award. 5) 2008 and on It’s all a blur. Despite cutting some tracks and scattered live appearances, Winehouse is more frequently seen stumbling out of nightclubs or off a stage. This photo is from her last show ever at Kalemegdan Park on June 18 in Belgrade, Serbia. 6) July 23, 2011 Winehouse is pronounced dead by British police. With an autopsy scheduled for today, the cause of death is currently unknown, although an overdose is suspected. THEY CHEATED THEMSELVES Amy Winehouse is the latest among a collective of musicians to die young, a group known as the Forever 27 Club.

efore he died, Kurt Cobain’s mom pleaded with her famous son “not to join that stupid club.” The club in question is the morose collective of famous musicians who died at the age of 27. As with its tragic newest member, Amy Winehouse, who died on Saturday, the departure of these singers often leaves a complicated legacy. At the time of their deaths, many had survived sudden rushes of fame and creativity and weathered it with difficulty, but seemed on the eve of pulling themselves together to do something great and different. Johnson is often cited not only as a founding father of the blues, but also as a founder of rock ’n’ roll, influencing classic rock gods such as Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. On a more morbid level, he also pretty much founded the Forever 27 Club. As he sang in “Hellhound on My Trail,” while alive he had a premonition he wouldn’t be for long.
This lefthanded guitarist was so prolific that in 1967 alone he released two landmark albums. He is credited with revolutionizing the way electric guitar is played; within the four albums he released while living, he showed so much innovation that we are only left to speculate how different music would be today had he not died at such a young age.
Known for partying as much as her bluesy howl, Joplin came to fame singing for Big Brother and the Holding Company. Her final solo album, “Pearl,” is stylistically more sophisticated, and is regarded by many to be her masterpiece.
The Doors singer trafficked heavily in prophecies of his own death, from his lyrical imagery of breaking on through to the other side to his chants of “no one gets out of here alive!” on the song, “Five to One.”
The Nirvana singer’s brash approach to music reinvigorated rock ’n’ roll in the ’90s. Like many in the Forever 27 Club, his image can still be seen on dorm room posters and Tshirts everywhere. He sang on his band’s last album, “look on the bright side, suicide.”

Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis would prefer to think of their new film as a comedy with incidental romance Despite similarities, stars say ‘Friends with Benefits’ isn’t the same as ‘No Strings Attached’

Just don’t call it a rom-com Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis want people talking about their new movie, “Friends with Benefits.” Just don’t call it a rom-com. “We always thought of it more as comedy than a romantic comedy,” says Kunis. “If anything, it was a buddy comedy with a little romance in it. romantic comedy.” Timberlake is on the same page about the film, about two love-weary friends who embark on a sexual relationship without all that messy romance stuff. “I don’t know that we’ve ever treated it like a romantic comedy or a slacker comedy. To me, funny is funny and not funny is not funny,” he says. “And so we just wanted to find the funny in all

these situations, and that’s how we treated this.” “Friends with Benefits” marks a major milestone for both Timberlake and Kunis, as it’s the first time either has top-lined a film. The lead has to come with new pressures, but Timberlake insists they’re quickly pushed aside. “We deal with those demons before we sign contracts. After you commit to the movie, you have to let all that stuff go,”

OK, we’re just going to say it: This here looks like a straight-up rom-com.
The great debate
Have we seen this before? Though the premise of “Friends With Benefits” sounds similar to the plot of Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher’s “No Strings Attached,” Kunis says she doesn’t care: “There’s only so
many original stories to be told in the world.” Timberlake insists the two films are different. “While I think that’s a great movie, I don’t think our movie is anything like it,” he says. “But sometimes you’re subject to the bulls— that [journalists] put us through.” Yowch.
he says, though he admits having Kunis along for the ride was a huge help. “That was a little bit of a comfort, knowing that you were going to be sharing the whole movie with a counterpart,” he adds. “There’s never a moment in this movie where it’s just one of us out there by ourselves.” NED EHRBAR METRO WORLD NEWS IN LOS ANGELES

omic-Con has firmly established itself as the testing ground for blockbuster films, with the response of fans and critics in attendance setting the tone for a film’s reception sometimes more than a year before its release. turndown a promotion Think before you step up: Sometimes, it’s better to lay low on the ladder.
It’s supposed to be a positive career move But some new titles come with responsibilities you don’t want and tasks you’re not suited for Not every step up is a step in the right direction. Accept a bogus promotion, and you could find yourself trapped in a job less fulfilling than the entry-level gig you rode in on. “A lot of people are getting promoted in this economy because companies are trying to do more with less,” executive coach Cynthia Shapiro says. “Instead of bringing somebody in, they’re having employees do three or four jobs by promoting them and then expecting them to still do their old work. It’s kind of a recipe for disaster.” But it’s not a recipe you need to swallow. “You never have to take something that’s being offered to you,” executive coach Meredith Haberfeld says. “You need to get clear

about what you want out of your career long-term, then you need to make strategic moves toward that,” she adds. If you do accept and discover the new role isn’t what you hoped it would be, it’s unlikely you can gracefully demote yourself. “It’s often easier to get a promotion than it is to
move back if you don’t like it,” Shapiro warns. “Companies like to see forward motion. You tell the company you want to go back down, they won’t allow it. You try to go to another company and get the position you had before — but you’ve got this loftier title. They’re going to imagine something is wrong.” So what’s an employee to do when they’re tempted with a fancy new business card? Take a step back. “These things sometimes aren’t as good as they look,” says Shapiro, who recommends hiring a consultant to help evaluate the move. “Look at it objectively, and make sure the position is set up for success.” DREW HINSHAW letters@metro.us

Bright accent colors can liven up an otherwise generic space.
As August approaches, retailers like Ikea, Target and even Home Depot are launching their annual lines for dorm rooms But a quick review of small-space design basics can add a measure of focus amid the seemingly endless throw-pillow options Three expert decorating tips for a savvy student space
Think up Wall art can either add or subtract from that oppressive, cramped feeling of a tiny living space. Hang the art a little higher than you might normally, and go for a few big and splashy pieces to grab focus. Remember: Details really come to life in a small space. “Go big! Large frames are going to create more impact and break up the wall space,” says Jessica Geller, founder of ID810 Design Group.

Embrace color Consider a solid, bright color to unify a few accessories. In a small space, simple and bold can go a long way. “Bright accent colors are a great way to energize a small space,” says Kelly Edwards, an interior designer featured in eBay’s new “back to school” center. “I suggest using a subtle pattern for your duvet cover and then livening it up with graphic throw pillows.”
Take notice of the stuff that usually winds up cluttering the floor and furniture. Try to get those jackets, shoes, bags and books on to hooks and shelves, and invest in a coat rack. “Adding space at the perimeter, rather than the center, will help the room feel bigger,” says Christopher Lowell, author of “You Can Do It! Small Spaces.” “Shelves can help you display. Think about using things you wouldn’t normally think to display: Makeup and jewelry can actually create a nice bit of impact,” adds Geller.

Rivera Top 4
15 x 25 = 42 For the 15th straight season Mariano Rivera saves his 25th game He extends his own record Teammates marvel at durability, consistency For 15 years, Mariano Rivera has been the closer for the Yankees. And, for 15 years, Rivera has saved at least 25 games. Those numbers may not be as impressive as if — or when — he passes Trevor Hoffman for first all-time, but it speaks to unrivaled consistency. “It’s just how consistent he is, his longevity,” manager Joe Girardi marveled. “To think of anyone
being a closer for 15 years is somewhat mind-boggling. You just don’t see it happen very often and to be real effective for 15 years is another story.” Perhaps more impressive is that Rivera reached it on a day when he loaded the bases during the ninth inning of yesterday’s 7-5 victory over the Athletics. Rivera was modest in his thoughts on the mark.
“You look at the guy and he’s unbelievable. That’s really an impressive streak up there. The guy is good. He just gets the job done.” DAVID ROBERTSON, WHO WAS 12 YEARS OLD WHEN RIVERA’S STREAK BEGAN
Can anyone save the PGA Tour? There will never be another Tiger Woods. With all apologies to recent Darren Clarke and Rory McIlroy, that’s the way it is. Just ask 15-year PGA Tour veteran Stewart Cink. “Guys like Tiger Woods come around, well, once,” Cink told Metro. “I saw [Jack] Nicklaus. I saw [Nick] Faldo. Nothing comes close to the way Tiger Woods played at his
peak. To be honest, he’s probably the most electrifying player to ever play the game.” Woods hasn’t played a competitive round since May, and many doubt he’ll ever regain his form. In Woods’ absence, the game has grown boring. There have been only four repeat winners in 2011, and none of those included a major. So, what is wrong with golf these days?
“Tiger is definitely a huge piece of the puzzle,” Cink said. “It doesn’t matter if Rory McIlory or Phil Mickelson turn it up a notch. The game probably needs him because it’s exciting when Tiger Woods is playing great.” American golf has also come to a screeching halt recently. The last three major winners have all been foreigners. MIKE GREGER
He paused before contemplating the best way for him to express himself. “Twenty-five, it’s good,” Rivera said. “I just want to win games. I don’t pay attention to stuff like that, but it’s good.” If Rivera was modest in his reaction to becoming the first and likely only man to reach 25 saves in 15 straight seasons, some of his teammates weren’t, especially David Robert-
Most of Rivera’s seasons have been spectacular, but we look at his top 4 regular seasons:
1
1996 Rivera was John Wetteland’s setup man, throwing 107.2 innings with a 2.09 ERA. He finished third in Cy Young voting. He only finished higher one other time.
2
2004 Set his single-season record for saves (53), but only a 1.94 ERA.
3
2005 The closest he ever got to a Cy Young (finished second), and also his lowest ever ERA (1.38).
4
2008 His definitive best year ever. His ERA was 1.40, with an absurd 0.66 WHIP, with 77 strikeouts and six walks in 70.2 innings.
son, whose mess Rivera was called upon to clean up with two outs in the eighth inning. Robertson, an All-Star this year, was 12 years old when Rivera began closing games and could not help but be amazed at his teammate’s consistency and durability.
3 Good day, bad day
Good day OK, so his Mets tenure didn’t go so well, but Roberto Alomar still should have been a first ballot Hall of Famer. His time came yesterday when the second baseman was inducted into Cooperstown. He was joined by Twins pitcher Bert Blyleven.
LARRY FLEISHER sports@metro.us

Bad day The Seattle Mariners ran their streak to 15 straight losses yesterday. They lost 12-8 to Boston, which had 17 hits in the game. Fifteen set the franchise record for most consecutive losses and is the longest in MLB since the Royals lost 19 straight in 2005. Cink doesn’t believe another Tiger Woods will ever come.

Lockout
lockup End of lockout brings relief to fans, but also teams Structure of season will keeps players out of trouble
layers are not just being locked out from the chance to play football, but are also being locked up at an alarming rate. The arrest of Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson last weekend is just the latest in an offseason that could become known as “Players Gone Wild.” Since the end of the Super Bowl, the first two months after the season saw a significant jump in player arrests with 13 players locked up during that eight-week span, compared to seven arrests during the same stretch last year. A big part of the incarceration problem is that without the structure of the NFL offseason, many players are without a regimen that keeps their days ordered and with purpose. In a typical NFL offseason, players will have roughly a month off after the Super Bowl to recuperate before they then begin offseason workout programs at the team facilities. Whole teams will convene, usually in late May, for organized team activities, which garner nearly 100 percent participation. Several weeks of OTAs, typically held twice weekly, feed into minicamp in midJune. Minicamp, which lasts for three days, is the

he structure and accountability in a typical offseason is a grind for most players, but in a year with a labor impasse, players who left their teams at the end of the season have been on their own for nearly 16 weeks, with only their agents to influence them. “Players don’t have the schedule that they would normally,” Jets tight end

Players vote on CBA today NFL. The NFL lockout should officially end today, if you believe the varying reports. ESPN is reporting that both sides — the owners and the NFLPA — have come to an agreement on the collective bargaining agreement. All that remains is a vote from the players’ executive committee and player representatives
Dustin Keller told Metro. “If you decide to stay out late and you miss your morning workout, you can just call your trainer and reschedule for 2 p.m. and there’s no consequences. If there isn’t a lockout, you can’t do that with the team.” The recent string of arrests includes the squeaky clean Hines Ward, “I’m not the kind of guy who gets in trouble personally. Going out at night hasn’t gotten me here — but workouts and taking care of myself and being smart with my body and time has,” linebacker Bart Scott said. “[Head coach] Rex Ryan and [general manager Mike] Tannenbaum did a good job bringing in high character guys here who don’t need to be told that they need to make smart choices.” Arizona Cardinals safety Kerry Rhodes said the coaching staff spoke with the team after they cleared out their lockers at the end of the season. “I am in bed around 9 o’clock most nights,” Rhodes said. “My wife gives me a curfew — I’m allowed out two nights a week,” Scott said with a straight face. “She doesn’t want me just running around out there.” KRISTIAN DYER sports@metro.us
from all 32 teams. That vote is considered a formality as the NFLPA would not hold it if it thought it would not pass. After passing today, players could begin reporting to camps and vote to re-certify as a union by Wednesday. That would allow teams to begin negotiating with their own unrestricted free agents. Free agency would then begin on Saturday, when all players — and 2011 draft picks — would be eligible to sign. The free agency period will likely be chaotic as teams will have just a couple days to make all of their signings, with camps opening immediately and then preseason games getting under way the second week in August. Santana ‘feels good’ in rehab SARAH GLENN/GETTY IMAGES
Mets ace could make minor league start as soon as this week One by one, the All Stars are returning. The next guy on the list — after the return of Jose Reyes and David Wright — is Johan Santana. The two-time Cy Young Award winner threw a 45-pitch bullpen session before yesterday’s game and said he “feels good.” He proclaimed himself ready to begin a minor league rehab schedule as long as he woke up today with no pain in his surgical-
ly repaired left shoulder. The Mets’ No. 1 starter has missed the entire season after undergoing a procedure to repair a torn anterior capsule in his throwing arm last September. Santana began throwing on flat ground a couple months ago and moved to the bullpen mound two weeks ago. There’s still no timetable for when he could return to the big club. METRO
