Are subway cars getting dirtier? Survey says yes Schmutz. A Straphangers Campaign review found a decrease in subway car cleanliness. New Yorkers noticing more “subway schmutz” are not imagining things. The number of clean subway cars decreased from 52 percent in 2011 to 42 percent in 2013, according to the Straphangers Campaign’s annual “schmutz” survey, which was released Thursday. “We’re looking at the grime, the spills, the food,” said Jason ChinFatt, the campaign’s field organizer. “You know, seats people avoid because of sticky spots.” The campaign said the decline represents a trend of decreasing cleanliness on subway cars. The same survey rated 56 percent of cars clean in 2008. Chin-Fatt said a surge in ridership during the last few years could be making the subways harder to keep clean. “When ridership goes up, there’s more opportunities for people to spill coffee and food,” he said. The campaign’s survey found a wide disparity among the system’s 20 lines. Cars on the D line were the dirtiest, with just 17 percent clean, and L trains were the cleanest at 63 percent. Nine subway lines were found

to have experienced “significant deterioration” in the last two years. The cars were rated for cleanliness of floors and seats using the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s own guidelines. New York City Transit spokesman Kevin Ortiz partially attributed the findings to “flawed methodology.” In the MTA’s own survey, 92 percent of operating subway cars
surveyed were clean in the second half of 2013. The MTA reviewed more cars during twice the time period as the Straphangers Campaign survey, Ortiz said. The MTA’s fleet of roughly 6,200 subway cars are cleaned regularly at terminals, he said. “During the course of a round trip, customers can accidentally drop drinks, come in with
muddy shoes or slush and salt during a snowstorm, but that is not indicative of our car-cleaning efforts,” Ortiz said. A 2013 MTA passenger satisfaction survey found 74 percent of riders were satisfied or very satisfied with the overall cleanliness of subway cars. Still, Chin-Fatt said questioned the transit authority’s assessment. “Who are you going to trust, New York City Transit or your own eyes?” he said. ANNA SANDERS @AnnaESanders

A New Jersey teen sneaked up to the top of America’s tallest building on Sunday morning, officials said. Justin Casquejo, 16, was arrested about 6 a.m. after police said he bypassed security and guards at One World Trade Center, making his way to the 104th floor. Casquejo climbed through a 1-foot opening in a fence surrounding the building’s construction site about 4:10 a.m., according to Joseph Pentangelo, a spokesman for the Port Authority Police Department. “I found a way up through the scaffolding, climbed onto the 6th floor

On that floor, Pentangelo said, Casquejo eluded an “inattentive” security guard. The guard, who worked for a contractor, has been fired. Investigators believe Casquejo spent two hours on top of the building. When he was finally arrested about 6 a.m., a camera and his cellphone were seized, but investigators are still looking into whether Casquejo sneaked up the tower to take photographs. Casquejo was charged with criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, as well as a trespass violation. ANNA SANDERS @AnnaESanders anna.sanders@metro.us

City reports small spike in cases of tuberculosis Test. New York has one of the highest rates of tuberculosis cases in the country. New York City saw a slight increase in the number of tuberculosis cases last year. The city’s Health Department reported the 1 percent jump in tuberculosis cases — up to 656 in 2013 compared to 651 in 2012. People infected with but not afflicted by tuberculosis rarely show symptoms, which is why the city wants more people to test for the disease. Relatively speaking, the number isn’t a big jump for the city, keeping the number of cases to about eight for every 100,000 New
Yorker. Even so, the city still has one of the highest rates of tuberculosis cases in the country. A growing diabetes epidemic and use of immune system weakening medications has lead to higher susceptibility to tuberculosis, health officials said. The cases can be addressed with testing and treatment, officials said. “If you come from a country where TB is common and have a medical condition such as diabetes or HIV, or are on medication for inflammatory conditions, ask your provider to test you for TB,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett in a statement. CHESTER JESUS SORIA @chestersoria chester.soria@metro.us
Biggest concentrations The highest concentrations of reported tuberculosis cases come from Sunset Park, West Queens and Flushing. •
The city revealed 84 percent of total tuberculosis cases were reported among individuals born
outside the United States. •
The top five countries of origin among foreignborn persons found to have tuberculosis were China, Philippines, Bangladesh, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Information. Officials said an aircraft had dropped a series of marker buoys in the area. Aircraft and ships plowed through dire weather in search of objects floating in remote seas off Australia that Malaysia’s government called a “credible lead” in the trans-continental hunt for a jetliner missing for nearly two weeks. New Zealand’s air force, whose P-3K2 Orion returned from a 2 1/2hour search mission in the Indian Ocean early on Friday, said it had found Miles

nothing that could have come from the missing plane. “The crew never found any object of significance,” Kevin Short, air vice marshal at New Zealand’s Defense Forces, told Radio New Zealand. “Visibility wasn’t very good, which makes it harder to search the surface of the water,” he said, adding that the plane had flown at around 1,000 feet over the sea. The large objects which Australian officials said were spotted by satellite four days ago are the most promising find in days as searchers scour a vast area for the plane lost with 239 people on board. A Norwegian merchant ship arrived in the area on Thursday, but officials cautioned it could take days to confirm if the objects were part of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777. Malaysia’s government said the search would continue elsewhere despite the sighting in the southern Indian Ocean. A search for the plane that began in the tropical

In addition to the New Zealand craft, two Royal Australia Air Force AP-3C Orions and a U.S. Navy P-8 Poseidon were involved in Thursday’s search, which was called off late in the evening and will resume on Friday. There have been many false leads and no confirmed wreckage found from Flight MH370 since it vanished from air traffic control screens off Malaysia’s east coast early on March 8, less than an hour after taking off from Kuala Lumpur for Beijing. Obama targets Putin allies as Russia races to finish its annexation of Crimea Moscow. Russia announces its own sanctions against senior U.S. politicians. U.S. President Barack Obama raised the stakes in an East-West confrontation over Crimea on Thursday by targeting some of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s closest longtime political and business allies with personal sanctions. The extension of visa bans and asset freezes into Putin’s inner circle came as Moscow rushed to consolidate the annexation of the Black Sea peninsula, seized from Ukraine last month, and to boost its military presence in the region. Russian troops took over three Ukrainian warships in Crimea on Thursday, using stun grenades in one incident, a Ukrainian spokesman said. Kiev also said it had begun withdrawing its border guards, surrounded and outnumbered by Russian forces, from Crimea to the mainland. Security. Gitmo board weighs detention of bin Laden bodyguard A suspected Osama bin Laden bodyguard, who has been held at the Guantanamo Bay military prison for 12 years, faced a national security board on Thursday weighing whether he should remain in detention there. Ali Ahmad al-Razihi, 33, is suspected of having been part of what intelligence officials call the Dirty 30 security detail around bin Laden. Razihi’s hearing before the Periodic Review Board was to re-examine whether he should continue to be held without charge at Guantanamo Bay or be transferred, possibly home to Yemen. One

Putin since the former KGB officer began his ascent to power in the mayor’s office of St. Petersburg in the 1990s. Moscow reacted by announcing its own sanctions against senior U.S. politicians in retaliation against visa bans and asset freezes imposed by Washington on its citizens, with the foreign ministry saying U.S. action would “hit the United States like a boomerang.”
European Union leaders were meeting in Brussels to step up their own measures against Russia. Officials said that while the EU would add a dozen names to its sanctions list and cancel a planned EURussia summit in Sochi, it would not go as far as Washington in hitting Putin’s money men. “We will be a step behind the Americans,” a senior European diplomat said. When I get my own TV show with no bosses involved, you can bet your smartphone I’ll call it “Naked Headhunter News.” I don’t know what the program will be about, but I guarantee that a lot of people will take a peek based on the title alone. I’ve had this idea for so long that I wonder if I should consider a copyright infringement suit over the reality show “Naked and Afraid.” Probably not. The better plan would be to get in on that action and develop a series of spinoffs: “Naked and Feeling a Draft”; “Naked and Pretty Damn Proud of Myself”; “Naked, Afraid, and AMISH!” You get the picture. The reason I mention this has nothing to do with nudity. It has to do with a new study about how we get information. (“Naked and Looking for a Newspaper”!) The Media Insight Project surveyed a bunch of folks about how much they rely on TV, radio, papers and the Internet to get news, and found many fascinating details. Among them: Only about one in three news consumers goes beyond the headlines. I’ve always suspected this, but seeing it locked into numbers makes it more real (“Naked and Depressed”). I understand that we’re all busy. I understand that the world is full of information sources fighting for our attention. But I also understand, from many years of covering the news, that plenty of

Returning shows you’re already watching
‘Game of Thrones’ HBO, returns April 6, 9 p.m.: Which beloved character will be brutally murdered by a conniving noble this year? Perhaps just a light maiming? If you’ve already read the books, keep it to yourself, and enjoy the return of everyone’s favorite fantasy version of a Shakespearean tragedy.
‘Veep’ HBO, returns April 6, 10 p.m.: Once you’ve finished watching the political maneuvering and betrayals on “Game of Thrones,” stick around for more of the same, but funnier and with more cursing — and Julia LouisDreyfus.
‘Mad Men’
‘Orange Is the New Black’
AMC, returns April 13, 10 p.m.: The final season of “Mad Men” premieres soon, but you’re only getting seven episodes before the show disappears again until — brace yourself — spring 2015 for the final 14. Comfort yourself with a martini this afternoon.
Netflix, returns June 6, midnight: Bit of a cliffhanger at the end of the first season! Presumably, everyone has kissed and made up in time for the second season of Netflix’s heartbreaking and hilarious prison drama.
‘Nurse Jackie’
‘True Blood’
Showtime, returns April 13, 9 p.m.: Remember when Merritt Wever won an Emmy for this show and her entire acceptance speech was, “Thank you so much. I gotta go. Bye”? Said so perfectly! Regardless of whatever urgent business she had at the Emmys, she found time to film the sixth season of this dark comedy.
HBO, returns June 15, 9 p.m.: The vampire/werewolf/fairy Southern gothic drama returns this June for a final season of love triangles and bad decisionmaking. There will probably be some new creatures and a series of hunky supernatural men with improbably hot gym bodies, because this show knows what you like.

‘24: Live Another Day’ Fox, returns May 5, 8 p.m. Yes, that “24.” Antiterrorism agent Jack Bauer returns for another horribly stressful 24 hours of his life. No word yet on the return of the cougar.
‘Call the Midwife’ PBS, returns March 30, 8 p.m.: Few shows spend as much time addressing issues of systemic poverty as this one. Also, almost every episode features a scene of childbirth in all its gross and painful glory. If that doesn’t reel you in, the show is sweet, funny, well-acted and full of awesome period-specific costuming from the 1950s.
‘Orphan Black’ BBC America, returns April 19, 9 p.m.: Without spoiling too much (there’s still time for you to binge watch the first season on Amazon Prime before the premiere, so go do that now), this sci-fi drama has so far
featured the same actress in seven different roles, and she’s spectacular in all of them.
‘Rectify’ Sundance, returns June 19, 9 p.m.: This Sundance original, about a man released from prison after his rape/murder sentence is vacated because of new DNA evidence, was called “revelatory TV” in a review by the

L.A. Times and “a breathtaking work of immense beauty” by the Daily Beast. Watch it, then brag about watching it.
‘Drop Dead Diva’ Lifetime, returns March 23, 9 p.m.: A supermodel gets reincarnated as a plump lawyer to learn about inner beauty. Since this is the final season, let’s hope she’s figured it out by now.
“DROP DEAD DIVA” LIFETIME
‘Under the Dome’ ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ CBS, returns June 30, 10 p.m.: How many times have you heard a coworker ask, “Hey, did you see ‘Dome’ last night? Unbelievable!”? Never, right? Seriously, do people watch this show? Do people in the show ever walk into the dome wall? We need to know, but we just can’t get over the hurdle of actually being interested enough to watch.
Comedy Central, returns April 1 at 10:30 p.m.: Season 1 of comedian Amy Schumer’s hybrid stand-up/sketch comedy show received mixed reviews, but the preview online for season 2 looks legit, with guests including Paul Giamatti, Janeane Garofalo, Rachel Dratch and Michael Ian Black.

Fox, premieres March 27, 9:30 p.m.: Christopher Meloni will never top Gene, the proud sweater-fondler he played in “Wet Hot American Summer,” but he’s trying anyway with this sitcom about a stay-at-home dad. It’s set in the ’90s, because cellphones ruin all dramatic tension.
There’s a whole host of characters you’ve never seen before in your future. LISA WEIDENFELD
Let’s do the twists
‘Trip Tank’ Comedy Central, premieres April 2, 10:30 p.m.: Various comedians and animation styles combine for a sketch comedy cartoon that’s likely to be obscene and offensive to some, quotable dinner conversation for others.
‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’ HBO, premieres April 27, 11 p.m.: HBO dips its toe in the “Daily Show” pond by stealing a popular “Daily Show” correspondent.
“Gang Related” premieres in May on Fox. / FOX
‘Salem’ WGN America, premieres April 20, 9 p.m.: Sure, you thought the Salem story was about the effects of mass hysteria in a puritanical New England town, but what if there were ACTUAL WITCHES involved? Scary times ahead, and look out for some hot Cotton Mather action as well.
‘Black Box’
“SURVIVING JACK” STARS CHRISTOPHER MELONI. / FOX
ABC, premieres April
24, 10 p.m.: This is a medical mystery show about a neurologist … who has mental health issues! Starring Kelly Reilly, of Caroline Bingley in the 2005 “Pride and Prejudice” movie fame (fine, she was also in the “Sherlock Holmes” movies), it sounds a bit “House”-ish.
‘Gang Related’ Fox, premieres May 20, 9 p.m.: Ryan Lopez is a new member of his city’s gang task force, but he’s also … a member of a gang! Will his loyalties be tested? Will there be good guys in the police … but also in the gang? Signs point to yes.

Battle of the dramatic computer use shows
Hey, hey, the geeks are all here in “Silicon Valley.” / ISABELLA VOSMIKOVA
‘Silicon Valley’ HBO, premieres April 6, 10:30 p.m.: Remember when “30 Rock” faced off against “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” as shows about late night shows? This spring, the hot topic is the people who make your technology. “Silicon Valley” comes from Mike Judge, of “Office Space”
and “Idiocracy” fame. Funny dudes are involved (see above) but the only woman appearing in the trailer is a stripper. Way to combat stereotypes about the tech world, guys.
‘Halt and Catch Fire’
AMC, premieres June 1, 10 p.m.: Set in the ’80s, “Halt” is about a team of people who try to out-IBM IBM in the PC race. AMC has a pretty solid track record — minus “The Killing” — and we all need more ’80s music and clothing in our lives. This could be worth tuning in for ’80s hair alone.
Prestige programming that everyone will talk about
‘The Normal Heart’ HBO, premieres May 25 at 9 p.m.: This is HBO’s adaptation of the play about the early days of the AIDS crisis, and the
efforts of gay activists to raise awareness in an unforgiving world. Julia Roberts will deign to grace your TV set, and Ryan Murphy of “Glee” and “American Horror Story” directs.
Monsters, mayhem and revisionist history
‘Turn’ AMC, premieres April 6, 9 p.m.: Based on an actual spy ring, “Turn” is about a farmer and his friends becoming spies during the Revolutionary War. Reportedly, the real spies used invisible ink and coded messages in newspapers (and probably other cereal box prizes, as well).
the greener pastures of TV. Halle Berry plays an astronaut trying to readjust to life on Earth after a yearlong solo mission in space. The promos say she ends up changing “the course of human history,” so it’s a pretty big year for Halle.
‘The Strain’
FX, premieres some undetermined day in July: The head of the CDC in New York, who we feel obliged to inform you is named Ephraim Goodweather, works with his team to combat a virus that appears to be a form of vampirism. It’s based on a series of books by Guillermo del Toro, so that’s neat.
‘Penny Dreadful’ Showtime, premieres May 11, 10 p.m.: If you like camp, Gothic horror and Victorian London, “Penny” is for you. Timothy Dalton headlines this psychological thriller about literary monsters (Dorian Gray, Dr. Frankenstein, Josh Hartnett) running amok in London.
‘Extant’ CBS, premieres July 2, 9 p.m.: Another movie star heads to

“I love the reactions from the audience and I think that’s part of what feeds the show, but it’s still a theater piece,” he says. “For some reason, the owners felt like my show could tolerate people bringing the drinks to their chairs, in super-size cups, so there was a lot of inappropriate behavior going on.” And we’re talking more than phones going off. “I almost crashed head to head with this guy because he ran onstage.”

Those who couldn’t catch John Leguizamo’s one-man career retrospective, “Ghetto Klown,” when it was on Broadway and on tour now have another chance to see the rowdy, emotional performance: It’s coming to HBO Saturday night. After four stand-up specials for HBO, Leguizamo is comfortable baring all on stage (emotionally, that is). “You do develop a callus,” he says. But Leguizamo wouldn’t be able to be so vulnerable if he weren’t in tune with himself — a practice that he credits his therapist in helping him with. “You can’t have a show like this and not go to therapy,” says the actor/comedian, who is very open about the fact that he sees a therapist. “You have to be very self-aware and want to be self-aware to be able to write a show about yourself, and a good show.” Leguizamo says that there was no way he could present an honest account
of his life without touching upon negative experiences (“The audience knows when you’re fast-forwarding,” he says). He believes that turning his tough times — like a shaky relationship with his dad and a divorce — into art help him reframe the narrative and move on from them. “A lot of artists use art to take control of it,” he says. “You recreate it lots of times until you can let it go. … I’m taking all my traumatic moments, making them funnier than they actually were, but reworking them and having control over them this time, as opposed to them controlling me. When you’re making the art you’re the god, and then you can see all the sides of it and it gives you distance. Then it’s not so toxic.” “Ghetto Klown” took
eight years to develop, and Leguizamo worked to ensure it ran “like a clock.” “I’m one person and I’m doing a lot of emotional things,” he says. “I have to have certain things be right on time and right on schedule so that I can just be a springboard and fly, not thinking about anything.” Being a method actor helps, he adds, because “it teaches you how to be crazy in front of a lot of people.” Leguizamo says the show is his “magnum opus” and that it’s his last autobiographical performance. Up next, he’ll be doing a political or historical production of vignettes, in a tribute to his hero, Jonathan Winters. MEREDITH ENGEL @MeredithAtMetro meredith.engel@metro.us
Rated R Leguizamo’s wife, Justine, has seen “Ghetto Klown,” but his two teenagers haven’t — and won’t until they’ve graduated college, he says. •
“They know it’s inappropriate and they’re not
allowed,” he says. “It’s a lot of personal things that I’m not ready to share with them.” By the time they’re 21 though, “they’ll have life experience,” he says. “They’ll understand a little bit.”

Muppet movie
In the green zone “Muppets Most Wanted” begins with our heroes panicking over how to follow up their 2011 reboot, and mocking the very idea of sequels in song. A more subversive number would assert that sequels are a chance to ditch the pomp and burdensome introductions of a first film and just have fun. (Not that “The Muppets” was remotely tedious.) Of course, “Muppets Most Wanted” doesn’t have the benefit of earthquaking nostalgia, which the first both exploited and explored. It has to be judged on its own merits. And luckily it’s a sprightly and terminally silly construction, certainly the oddest plotted of any of the Muppet movies. It finds Kermit and company preyed upon by Dominic Badguy (Ricky Gervais), who convinces them to rush into a European tour. In truth, he’s a thief whose partner, Constantine, is a dead ringer for Kermit,
Rowlf accompanies Miss Piggy as she launches into another Celine Dion number. / DISNEY
save a sinister mole. There’s a token homily, but it doesn’t come until the very end. It’s mostly goofing around. This is a far loopier film than the first, with cameos both wearyingly token (Usher, Gaga) and bizarre (Frank Langella! Miranda Richardson!) Constantine gets the best song, in which he dons a leisure suit to croon about armadillos. (Actually, the best number goes to Ray Liotta and Danny Trejo singing Boyz II Men. This movie is weird.) “Muppets Most Wanted” is “Help!” to the first one’s “A Hard Day’s Night”
— a freewheeling block of inventive nonsense that will go undervalued. That said, it does tragically shortchange Rowlf and Gonzo. MATT PRIGGE Review ‘Muppets Most Wanted’ Director: James Bobin Stars: Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey Rating: PG

Book to movie. Don’t worry — the “Divergent” movie hews pretty close to the novel. Virtually anytime a movie based on a best-selling book comes out, waves of criticism follow about the differences between the two. But now that “Divergent” is (finally) in theaters, critical readers will be hard pressed to find inconsistencies. The movie sticks extremely close to the book: The characters look like they should, post-apocalyptic Chicago is as bleak as described, and the sexual tension between Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) is as
thick as author Veronica Roth intended. When we spoke with Maggie Q, who plays Tori, and Mekhi Phifer, who plays Dauntless leader Max, both actors told us that while Roth was on set most of the time, she kept her opinions to herself. “She’s just so thrilled that all this is happening,” said Maggie Q. “She’s really smart and thoughtful about what we’re doing with the film, but she was in no way looking over people’s shoulders. She was just so open, which I think is really cool because when it’s your material, sometimes you get too close to it.” Still, many actors did use Roth as a resource on set, asking specific questions about their characters’ backstories and soliciting the author’s insight.
But while some actors took advantage of Roth’s presence and the book, Phifer chose to study the script instead, in fear that the book would get in the way of how his character had been adapted for the film. “I want to read them [eventually], but I didn’t want to be jaded,” he told us. In a past interview, Woodley mentioned that the book is 400 pages and

the script is only 90 pages, so of course some things have to be left out. This presents itself primarily in some of the interrelationships between the characters, not the action or fighting. The romantic relationship between Christina (Zoe Kravitz) and Will (Ben LloydHughes) is boiled down to a fun flirtation. Al (Christian Madsen) also plays a
much smaller part than in the book, not really forming any close friendships. Still, the elements of the book that matter most are truly brought to life on the big screen. For fans of the series, the movie will be far from a letdown — it will be a sweet reward. EMILY LAURENCE @EmLaurence

Lars Von Trier is a funny guy. This might not always be apparent, given that he’s tortured an almost blind Bjork (“Dancer in the Dark”), immolated the planet in a fiery apocalypse (“Melancholia”) and had Charlotte Gainsbourg snip off a certain ladypart with rusty scissors (“Antichrist”). But even his most heinous onscreen acts are played with a sense of P.T. Barnum relish. Indeed, “Nymphomaniac” is the warmest and funniest film he’s ever made, even though it’s about a sex addict (GainsReview ‘Nymphomaniac: Volume I’ Director: Lars Von Trier Stars: Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard Rating: NR

bourg again) recounting her shags with a revolving door of strangers, plus Shia LaBeouf. Admittedly, “warm” only describes the first “volume” of “Nymphomaniac,” which has been divided in two. (“Volume II” will be out April 4, while a second, even longer version with hardcore inserts, will come later.) It does start grim, with Gainsbourg’s Joe lying, bloody, in a dirty alley. She’s rescued by a recluse, Seligman (Stellan Skarsgard), who becomes her sounding board as she recounts tales of her
youthful hyper-prurience (when she’s played by Stacy Martin). Actually, he’s not a sounding board at all. A bookworm and virgin, he constantly interrupts her with digressions, semirelated stories, anything that doesn’t have to do with sex. He talks about fly fishing. Later, he will talk about rugelach. (It’s all germane — sort of.) Seligman essentially functions as living footnotes, annotating Joe’s stories with all the brainy references that the less gutter-minded sect of “Nymphomaniac”’s audience will get. It’s a running
gag, and a hilarious one, that adds rich texture to a film that would perhaps be monotonous without it. As for the boinking itself, it is — at least in this quasi-sanitized cut — nonjudgmental and refreshingly not miserable. In fact, it’s not very sexy, even when the actors are grappling with prosthetics. But it’s about more than sex. It’s a big, open film, one that finds Von Trier prankish and, at times, disarmingly sincere. Its fragmented nature means it’s not entirely traumatic when it suddenly stops. MATT PRIGGE

GOSSIP When we talk about “Glee star Naya Rivera’s breasts, in detail, as we’re about to do, let’s agree on one thing: She’s always been a surprisingly busty girl. Those sporty uniforms that she and Dianna Agron rocked for so long on “Glee did a pretty good job of hiding the headlights, but if you look at red carpet photos, you can tell that Naya’s curves were always there. However, there are curves, and then there are curves. Rumors are spreading that Naya had recently gotten some surgical enhancement after she posted this beach pic on her Instagram, rocking some Kardashian-level proportions (to the evident delight of her fiance, Big Sean). So did Naya get a breast enhancement? Not so, insists a source — it’s just a case of a flattering camera angle and a very padded bikini top, according to E! Online. Which seems, well, not likely, but possible. Breasts are a mysterious thing. There’s definitely padding going on there, but whether it’s on the inside or outside is difficult to tell. Let’s reserve judgment until “Glee comes back and we can see those puppies in action. MELINDA TAUB

Be more like Truman, Obama Following a question on the Keystone pipeline, Secretary John Kerry said that after gathering all the information, he would make a recommendation to the president. But one wonders why, after more than five years of exhaustive study, President Obama cannot make up his own mind by himself. It has become painfully obvious that he wants to delay as long as possible and then distance himself from whatever decision is finally made. Obama also needs to decide if we are to export natural gas to Europe to counter the Russian stranglehold. The decision must be
made quickly if we are to influence events in Ukraine. I am convinced that [Russian President] Vladimir Putin would take notice if the pipeline were approved, and Obama would approve the export of natural gas and fast-track development of U.S. export facilities. Instead, Obama has endless useless conversations with Putin and promises incremental sanctions. Harry Truman was admired as a president who could rapidly make a firm decision and stick to it. Obama needs to be more like Truman. GEORGE CHRISTIAN, VIA EMAIL
