Authorities are asking for help in their attempt to identify a man whose body washed up recently on Revere Beach and have released pictures of some of the clothes the man was wearing. Investigators on Monday released photos of the man’s pants and boxer shorts, hoping someone will be able to recognize the unique aspects of them. A passerby found the remains washed ashore on April 30.
Identity sought in mysterious death Last Wednesday, at about 11:30 a.m., a passerby on Revere Beach noticed something in the water just at the shoreline. It turned out to be the remains of an adult man. Authorities have said there was no identifying information on the person and that an exact age and ethnicity could
not be determined because of the condition of the remains. Investigators are trying to locate the man’s family or friends and are reviewing missing persons reports. They have also notified law enforcement agencies across the state with the hope of identifying the deceased person. Anyone with information can call 617-727-8817.
“The conditions of the remains has thus far hindered investigators’ efforts to identify the man or determine his ethnicity,” the Suffolk district attorney’s office said in a statement. A forensic investigation has so far revealed that the man was between 20 and 40 years old and likely on the younger end of that range. A Kryptonite bicycle lock key was found in the man’s jeans. The jeans were American Eagle brand blue jeans with a 30-inch waist, cinched with a
black, braided leather belt. Additionally, the man was wearing boxer shorts with the image of a Volkswagen Beetle on them. The cause and manner of death are still under investigation. “Somewhere, there may be a mother, father, son or daughter suffering the worst kind of uncertainty,” said Suffolk District Attorney Dan Conley in a statement. “If we can identify this man, we can at least put an end to that waiting and worrying and allow them some closure. Even if members of the public don’t have specific information, they can share these details online and, perhaps, help us reach the loved ones who need to know.” MICHAEL NAUGHTON @MetroBosMike

RI circus collapse probe focusing on clamp: Official Accident. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the cause of the collapse. Investigators probing the collapse of a rigging at a Providence, Rhode Island, circus that badly injured nine performers and stunned the audience were focused on Monday on a clamp that snapped, a city official said. Eight acrobats remained hospitalized, two in critical condition, following the Sunday incident, when the rig holding them hanging by their hair collapsed in front of an audience of about 3,900 people,
including young children. “We have identified the clamp [holding them to the rafters] that snapped and failed,” Providence Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare told WPRO-AM radio in Providence on Monday. Pare could not be reached immediately to elaborate. But officials from Feld Entertainment, which owns the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, said it was too soon identify the cause of the collapse. “The comments by the commissioner in Providence are premature at this point,” circus spokesman Stephen Payne said. “We hope to release more information at the conclusion of the investigation into what caused the accident.”
In addition to the two performers in critical condition, three were in serious condition and three others in good condition, according to a spokeswoman for Rhode Island Hospital, where the acrobats were brought after the collapse. Another performer was treated and released on Sunday. Some of the injuries the performers suffered were severe, “but none appear to be life-threatening at this time,” Payne said in an email. John Doe claims he was introduced to Singer at the U.K. premiere party for “Superman Returns” when he was 17 years old. Nasty Gal CEO shares unlikely success story

Interview. We talk to the wildly successful Sophia Amoruso about her new book, “#GirlBoss.”
Just 10 years ago, Nasty Gal CEO Sophia Amoruso was dumpster diving, shoplifting, hitchhiking and drifting from job to job. Now, she is the CEO of a $100 million retail business and author of “#GIRLBOSS,” an honest account of her unconventional career path. Your book couldn’t be more different from “Lean In.” If it’s a man’s world, who cares? It’s kind of like, “Yes, lean in, but you don’t need to talk about it.” The energy you use talking about it, you could use to actually lean in. You don’t give steps or a plan to readers on how to be successful. Why is that? I just want people to learn from my experiences. You can learn from other people’s successes and failures. Do you have any tips for young women who don’t know what they want to do yet? You just have to keep trying things. I thought I was going to be a photographer. Had I tried to control that too much and said, “Screw this eBay thing,” I don’t know if I would have fulfilled any level of a dream. Do you think it was to your advantage that you never had many mentors? There’s a lot to learn from

Explore. The American way of overscheduling won’t fly overseas. Forget everything you’ve read about planning a European trip: It’s not practical to cram every museum and landmark into your weeklong vacation. It’s better to have a routine and only hit two big things a day, suggests The Travel Channel’s Samantha Brown. “Always overprepare,” Brown says, “but never overschedule.” Sure, you should hit famous European museums — such as The Louvre in Paris and London’s British Museum — but “don’t spend all your time in the past,” Brown says. “You’re there to enjoy what’s happening now,” she says. “It’s perfectly accept-

Waiting in line is not the French experience.” Also, curb Instagramming every aspect of your trip, she advises, and slow down. “Let your own sense of discovery take you places,” Brown adds. “Sit down at a cafe because you want to be there.” And take an hour or so to walk the neighborhoods each day. Have a glass of wine at a cafe you just stumble upon. It’s important to not only feel like you’re on vacation, but to feel like you belong.
Book smart Start researching your trip about six months out and book it a month after that, Brown suggests. Set up alerts on fare changes through travel websites. Book a red-eye flight; you can get that first night’s

Habs fan finds Price’s pooches Montreal goaltender Carey Price tweeted out early Monday morning that his dogs, two labs were missing. Canadiens fan John Mastromonaco heard a report on the radio about Price’s situation and soon saw two stray dogs following a jogger around 6 a.m. on Monday. Mastromonaco returned the dogs to Price’s home and got an autographed hockey stick for his efforts.

Bruins must be better out of gate in Montreal NHL. The B’s have plenty of room for improvement in Game 3 on Tuesday. By virtue of losing Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals to Montreal, Boston guaranteed it will have to win at least one game at the Bell Centre if it wants to move on to the Eastern Conference Finals for the third time in four years. The Bruins get their first opportunity on Tuesday (7 p.m., NBCSN) in Game 3, with the series tied 1-1. There are a couple of key areas that Boston has to tighten up going forward as any team simply cannot rely on rallying from two-goal deficits in every contest; certainly against a quality opponent like the Canadiens. The obvious stat that jumps off the page through two games is that Montreal is 4-for-9 on the power play while Boston is 0-for-5. The Bruins always seem to struggle on special teams vs. Montreal and the Canadiens conversely excel in that regard. Canadiens star defenseman P.K. Subban is the quarterback of their power play, as proven by his two goals in Game 1 and two assists in Game 2, all on the man advantage. “That’s where we have to

get better, we have to take away that shooting lane,” Bruins head coach Claude Julien said of Subban’s shot. Finally, it’s important for the B’s to get off to a good start in the first two periods in Game 3. In Game 1, they trailed 2-0 heading into the third before outscoring the
Canadiens 3-1 and forcing overtime. In Game 2, Boston at least scored first, but it was still down 2-1 going into the third and was down 3-1 midway through the final frame. RICH SLATE @RichSlate

NHL. Bruins goaltender Rask welcomes firstborn child prior to Game 3 Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask is a busy man these days. Before heading to Montreal to face the Canadiens in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, Rask was able to witness the birth of he and his girlfriend’s first child, a baby girl. The Bruins reportedly would have had a private
plane in Montreal available for Rask to return to Boston if the baby was born later this week. The Bruins did not say whether or not backup goaltender Chad Johnson would have gotten the call to start in net this week had Rask’s girlfriend given birth to the baby on a game day. Rask has a .939 save percentage this postseason. METRO

We often confuse “best” and “favorite” to mean the same thing. These qualifiers offer praise, but they’re mutually exclusive to one another. For instance, “Mad Men” is the best show on television right now. It challenges you to think about television on an intellectual level you never knew existed before you begin watching it. The writing, character development and structure are all otherworldly. However, the superiority of “Mad Men” doesn’t make it particularly enjoyable inasmuch as it’s simply compelling, and I certainly wouldn’t call it my “favorite” show to watch on a weekly basis. The NHL currently suffers from this paradox. The league will never overtake the NFL in popularity. I get that. But it’s difficult to make the argument that there’s a better postseason in sports than what the NHL currently offers. The players throw their bodies in front of shots and fight one another on a regular basis. The refs generally manage to stay out of the way. The viewing experience is enhanced by limited commercial breaks. Best of all, while the outcome feels so arbitrary

Competing Styles Why was the Broncos-Seahawks matchup in Super Bowl XLVIII so interesting? Because it reminded us that substance beats flash. In this series, there’s a finesse team and a physical team. Watching these sports ethos play out is fascinating, and for Bruins fans, it’s gratifying to root for the team that prides itself on being the bully. It’s dirty and brash and delightful to watch all at once.

WILL SMITH HAS SIGNED WITH THE PATRIOTS. GETTY IMAGES
Patriots upgrade at defensive end, sign Smith The Patriots’ pass rush has left much to be desired in recent years and the lack of pressure on opposing quarterbacks was on full display in their AFC Championship game loss to the Denver Broncos last season. The Pats are hoping free agent defensive end Will Smith will cure some of its issues on the defensive line. The former New Orleans Saint signed with the Patriots on Monday, though the details on the deal were not disclosed. The 32-year-old Smith missed all of 2013 after tearing his ACL last August. Smith, a 2004 Saints first-round pick out of Ohio State, was a Pro Bowl performer in 2006 when he recorded 10.5 sacks. MATT BURKE

Great Drama The Bruins trailed most of Game 1, but they outskated Montreal for much of the game. If it weren’t for Carey Price and the goalposts, we likely don’t see overtime. Regardless, is there any way this series doesn’t go seven games? And is there any way you don’t break at least one remote control in the next week?
