What’s the story Morning Gloryville? High on life. Ravers woke up Wednesday for Morning Gloryville, the first in a new early morning dance series.

Walking into Morning Gloryville feels a little like entering any club. After you get your wristband, it’s a short trip to the dance floor, where dozens of people dressed in neon and sequins groove ecstatically to pulsing house music. If you happen to forget for a moment that it’s 8 a.m. on a weekday, all the better. The event, which began about a year ago in the

U.K. and made its New York City debut Wednesday, bills itself as an “immersive morning dance experience.” It has all the trappings of a traditional late-night dance party, except it runs from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the morning. Some 200 people bought advance tickets to the party, which took place at Kinfolk 94, an event space on Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg in Brooklyn. Attendees were mostly in their 20s and 30s, some donning business casual and some wearing full-on club gear. Some were there for the workout; others just wanted to dance. “We heard about the event and thought it would be quite good to have a bit of exercise in the morning

We go to a lot of dance parties, so we thought it would be fun.” Aside from the unusual timing, the biggest difference between Morning Gloryville and an ordinary rave is the distinct lack of alcohol and drugs — a deliberate decision on the organizers’ part. In club culture, “you find people who stop partying because they

can’t accommodate everything that comes with it,” said Harry Inglis, who coorganized the New York event with fellow London transplant Annie Fabricant. Another advantage to the event’s no-alcohol policy? No hassles from the police. Inglis said he contacted the NYPD in advance of Wednesday’s event, “just to make sure everything was in order,” and was told he needed no special permits. “Being sober just opens up a whole new dynamic and makes it easier to run,” he said. Whether or not sporting leopard-print spandex and partying for a few hours before work is your idea of a good time, there’s no denying the event’s originality. “I thought it was something that New York was missing, and how often do you find that?” said Georgie Okell, a Morning Gloryville staffer who was working the door Wednesday. “Four hours in the morning to get into your day, communally dancing and feeling great. Everyone here is going to go to work feeling phenomenal.” ANDY CUSH

Nothing preachy

All about love Inglis frequents traditional club nights around the city, and stressed that there is “nothing preachy” about Morning Gloryville’s ethos: “The sober side of it is finding people who love it and recreating that energy with them. Because that sort of energy you find in the middle of the dance floor late at night — that’s where the real thrill comes from.” Sherri Kronfeld, one attendee, believed the lack of drugs added to the party’s appeal. “It’s maybe a little harder initially to get the party going for everyone, but I think that what that means on the dance floor is that it’s festive, and innocent, and playful.”

Councilmember faces charges of public fund theft Arrest. Queens Councilman Ruben Wills was named in a 12-count indictment on Wednesday. Queens Councilman Ruben Wills maintained his innocence on Wednesday after being indicted on multiple corruption charges, including the theft of campaign finance funds and grant money awarded to a nonprofit he led. “I’m telling you and my district that I’m innocent,” he told reporters, adding that people are presumed innocent until proven guilty. “This is America, people.” Wills, 42, was arraigned on 12 charges of corruption brought by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office. He did not enter a plea and was released without bail. He is accused of stealing roughly $30,500 in city and state funds and using some of the money for shopping trips to Nordstrom, Century 21 and Macy’s, where he bought a $750 Louis Vuitton handbag. Wills allegedly funneled campaign matching funds from a shell

Man busted at JFK for cocaine in custard powder In custody. The man was reportedly carrying $300,000 of the illegal drug.

Authorities arrested a man who tried to sneak nearly 18 pounds of cocaine in packages of custard powder through airport security. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials at John F. Kennedy International Airport stopped Godfrey Cassius, 35, as he passed through baggage check on April 22. Officers asked Cassius, who had flown from Guyana, if he was car-

rying any food into the country, to which Cassius admitted bringing eight packages of “Champion” brand custard powder allegedly for an aunt. Agents then probed the packages in which they found a white powder that eventually tested positive for cocaine. In all, customs confiscated 17.9 pounds of cocaine — which officials said has an approximate street value of $300,000. “Cocaine is a dangerous narcotic, and CBP does its part in keeping these drugs off the streets,” customs’ Director of New York Field Operations Robert Perez said in a statement.

The New York Public Library has proposed an alternative to a controversial renovation plan that would have turned the 42nd Street branch into a circulating library. “Instead of removing

the central stacks and placing the Mid-Manhattan Library in that space, we are proposing to renovate Mid-Manhattan Library at its current site,” president Tony Marx said in a statement on Wednesday. The new plans were first reported by the New York Times. Renovations to the Mid-Manhattan branch

would add computer labs and an adult education center, Marx said. The library is proposing that renovations to the flagship location keep with the original plans, which include the opening of previously closed rooms and expanding storage space under Bryant Park. ANNA SANDERS

Bill de Blasio has requested a $73.7 billion budget to run New York City. / OFFICE OF THE MAYOR

De Blasio will unveil his final budget today Preview. The mayor will lay out where funds will be spent in the upcoming year. After weeks of negotiations, Mayor Bill de Blasio is expected to release his final budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal year. In February, the mayor called for $73.7 billion to pay for his first year’s agenda, which he called progressive. Some of the questions looming over that announcement have been answered — partially. On Monday, de Blasio unveiled a $41 billion,

10-year plan to address the city’s shrinking stock of affordable housing that would commit about $8 billion from the city’s coffers. Last week, de Blasio settled a $5.5 billion, nine-year contract with the United Federation of Teachers that called for both school reforms and retroactive pay that the mayor has argued would serve as a template for the remaining 150-plus contracts that the city has to negotiate. One issue that might be swiftly settled is a proposal by the city council, which requested an additional $257 million through its negotiations with the mayor’s office.

Long-term implications

“It not only affects this mayoral term but the following as well.” Nicole Gelinas, on the mayor’s commitment to give teachers retroactive pay

The council asked for $94.3 million to get more cops on the streets and $26.3 million for 500 new civilian staffers at NYPD, an idea de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton have hesitated to get behind. The city has until July 1 to adopt the budget. CHESTER JESUS SORIA @chestersoria chester.soria@metro.us

Future plan. Cuomo to MTA: Get ready for the next 100 years Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to think forward and come up with a plan to address New York’s transit needs over the next 100 years. In a letter to MTA Chairman and CEO Thomas Prendergast, the governor says that the state needs the agency to “develop a reinvention plan to make our subways and our entire transit system ready for

the challenges of the next century,” the letter said. That plan will come from a “Transportation Reinvention Commission” requested by the governor’s office.

Throughout a series of as of yet unscheduled public hearings, the group is already tasked with discussing issues facing the transit system with experts worldwide and submitting a preliminary report ahead of September, when the MTA board is scheduled to look over the capital plan. In a statement, Prendergast said the agency was game. CHESTER JESUS SORIA

Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen said on Wednesday that the U.S. economy was still in need of lots of support given the “considerable slack in the labor market, adding that the housing sector’s weakness and geopolitical tensions also posed risks. Even as she took note of “appreciable improvements in the jobs market, Yellen told a congressional committee that the high rate of long-term unemployment and a slow rise in worker pay suggested

plenty of room for further job gains. “A high degree of monetary accommodation remains warranted, she told the Joint Economic Committee.

Yellen said she expected the economy to expand at a “somewhat faster pace than last year, but flagged weakness in the nation’s housing sector and the possibility of heightened geopolitical tensions or the re-emergence of financial stress in emerging markets as potential risks. U.S. stocks slipped after her testimony was released but later steadied, while prices for government debt were little changed. The dollar rose against a range of currencies. Yellen expressed faith that at least part of the decline in labor force participation could be reversed. She also said she had very little doubt that the share of Americans working parttime because they could not find full-time work would also come down. REUTERS

“American Idol” runnerup Clay Aiken held a narrow lead on Wednesday in his bid to become the Democratic nominee for a North Carolina congressional seat but could face a recount with a challenger who trails by fewer than 400 votes. Aiken, 35, surpassed the 40 percent of votes needed to avoid a runoff, but North Carolina law allows for a recount when the spread between the top two finishers is 1 percent or less. Crisco, 71, said the election remained too close to call but did not signal whether he would request a recount.

“This election is still very tight,” he said. “I want the elections officials to have an opportunity to tally the votes and provide a report on their canvass activities to allow all the campaigns a chance to see the final numbers.” Aiken’s campaign did not immediately comment on the results on Wednesday. Aiken, who taught special education in North Carolina before his 2003 “Idol” appearance, earned respect from voters and pundits by proving knowledgeable about policy issues. He was outspent by Crisco, who ran four television ads compared to Aiken’s one. The primary vote tally, which included 19.63 percent for Morris, could change as provisional ballots and some additional absentee votes are counted, said state elections board spokesman Josh Lawson. TSA seeks business execs to help improve service at US airports Plagued. Complaints about TSA include intrusive screening, long lines and agent misconduct. U.S. security officials are turning to tourism and travel executives for help in improving something the Transportation Security Administration is not famous for: customer service. The Department of Homeland Security said on Wednesday it is creating six positions as part of its “loaned executive program to advise the TSA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection on how to improve operations affecting travel and tourism.

Customer service, lines and crowd management, self-service technology, logistics and improved analysis of international passenger flows at airports are among the six areas that will be analyzed by the visiting executives, the department said. The agency wants to twin its security mission with making air travel smoother on the ground so as not to deter travel that generates tourism dollars for the U.S. economy. “I am thrilled DHS is collaborating with private sector businesses to attract talented professionals in the travel and tourism industry to help us continue our efforts of making America a more attractive and accessible destina-

tion, U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker said in a statement. The DHS advisory positions would be for six months with an option to extend. The executives would be on loan and their salaries paid by their employer. REUTERS

Complaints are up

A report by the non-partisan Government Accountability OďŹƒce last July said complaints against airport security workers had jumped 26 percent in the previous three years. The complaints included the use of drugs and alcohol by TSA agents while on duty and inconsistent use of security equipment, such as X-ray machines.

A growing number of U.S. Hispanics are turning away from the Roman Catholic religion of their youth and now identify as Protestant or unaďŹƒliated with any church, according to a survey released on Wednesday. Catholics represented 55 percent of U.S. Hispanics in 2013, a drop from 67 percent in 2010, the Pew Research Center survey found. About 16 percent of Hispanics are evangelical Protestants, up from 12 percent three years earlier, and 18 percent are unaďŹƒliated, up from 10 percent. Three-quarters of those interviewed said they were raised Catholic. More than half of those who left their childhood faith said they “gradually drifted away,â€? while 31 percent said they found a congregation that helps its members more. Religious scholars said the shift could serve as something of a warning to U.S. Catholic leaders, who have relied on the growing Hispanic population to ďŹ ll pews and collection plates.

Can’t share content. Family unity doesn’t extend to Apple IDs You succumb and buy your kids “Let It Go” on iTunes to play over and over on your phone — but are you thinking about what happens when they get their own devices? Even though you bought and own it, you can’t pass it along, transfer or give it away because of the way digital purchases are structured. As parents come to realize the limitations of their Apple ID and Google Play strategies, they are frustrated. All the apps, songs and movies they’ve purchased are quarantined in their own accounts. When the kids branch out to their own devices, they pretty much just have to start over, with limited workarounds. “It’s a pain,” says Carmen Rivera, a publisher’s assistant at Chicago Magazine, who is trying to figure out how to share her digital content with her 18-year-old son, Neiko. She handles the situation the way many parents

The issue is largely a “technical question,” and policies regarding IDs and transferring are in the company’s terms of service. / GETTY IMAGES Quoted

and Mozart — on her iTunes account through home sharing. But he can’t take any of it into his account permanently, and whenever he wants songs or apps of his own that cost money, he has to clear it with Mom first, because he needs her credit card. If she uses her ID, that new material belongs to her. She can also buy directly for his account, but that means she has to watch that he doesn’t sneak purchases. REUTERS

Cyrus is back, y’all

Well, it looks like Miley’s feeling better.

/ ALL PHOTOS GETTY IMAGES

THE WORD Dorothy Robinson takes on the world of gossip. DOROTHY ROBINSON @dorothyatmetro dorothy.robinson@metro.us

Miley Cyrus proved to the world she is back and better than ever on Tuesday night at the O2 arena. The show marked the relaunch of her “Bangerz” tour after she had to cancel several shows due to an allergic reaction that landed her in the hospital for more than a week. And yes, it really was an allergic reaction. “I didn’t have a drug overdose,” she confirmed, yet again, at a Tuesday press conference before the show. “I took some ... antibiotics that a doctor gave me for a sinus infection, and I had a reaction.” She claimed she’s all better now. “I’m feeling good, I’m alive — so that’s f—king awesome. I’m the poster child for good health.” She’s even taken drastic steps to maintain it: “I’m on this crazy vitamin rush and crazy honey and lavender. I learned a lot about taking care of myself,” she explained. “I’m probably the only one on this tour who doesn’t drink or smoke before a show, as I take this really seriously. It’s almost like being an athlete up here, because if someone was f—ked up, they definitely couldn’t do my show.” If the above photo is any indication, it looks like Cyrus is back to her old antics. Lily Allen certainly thought so. “That was basically the best thing I’ve ever seen #BangerzTour #MileyCyrus,” Allen tweeted, along with a string of happy emojis.

Clooney’s wedding will be very soon

CLOONEY AND ALAMUDDIN

Does anyone else feel like Clooney’s quickie engagement to Amal Alamuddin is because of a baby Clooney in the oven? It was just so quick, so sudden, and now there are reports that the two are wasting no time in tying the knot, with a fast-approaching wedding date, according to Radar Online. “The wedding is to take place in September,” a source says. “They’ve told family and friends they will only disclose the location at the last minute,

and it will be very private. Neither George nor Amal want the wedding to be a public affair — and her family doesn’t either.” Then again, celebrities these days don’t have to get married if they are expecting a baby. It’s not 1950s-era Hollywood. Clooney would have to do much, much worse than have a child out of wedlock to harm his reputation. Probably, like, kick a puppy or something. Even then, I bet the housewives of America would probably forgive him.

As “Comedy Bang Bang begins its third season, the creators of the show are still trying out new things. Watch host Scott Aukerman awkwardly (yet hilariously) interview such stars as Fred Armisen, Lizzy Caplan and Patton Oswalt in the new season. Aukerman answered questions about what changes viewers can expect. Who would your dream guest be? The whole first season I would get that question. I would say Pee-wee Herman all the time and he ended up being on the show because of that, so I’m going to throw out some random people and hope they are Googling their names. Definitely David Letterman. I think Martin Short is another person that I’ve been trying for three years to get on that I would love

Interview. Scott Aukerman tells how politicians and the dead could spice up his show and other plans for the future. to interview because I think he’s just the funniest human. And I think Joe Biden. I think dead people. I’d love for dead people to start coming back to life, because there’s a whole bunch of them. Plato.

How serious is Scott Aukerman being about the changes to his show? Tune into the “Comedy Bang Bang premiere tonight on IFC at 10:30 p.m. to see. / IFC Q&A

After the third season, you’ll be going more serious? Very serious. Very dry, yes. Informational! That’s what

I want people to say about “Comedy Bang Bang.â€? I want them to turn o the TV and say, “Well, that was informational!â€?

If you did get Joe Biden, what would you have him do? If Joe Biden came on the show, I think we’d probably make an election special, even though the election’s still a little while away. ... I think we would try to get him to announce his candidacy on our show. That’s what we really need on our show: a serious politician. I’d love to switch it up and instead of doing goofy, silly questions, just ask serious, direct questions about policy. LISA WEIDENFELD @LisaWeidenfeld lisa.weidenfeld@metro.us

MUSIC Earlier this spring, M.I.A. and Janelle Monae sang and danced with holograms of each other, as a one-off show while each performer was on one coast or the other. Though M.I.A. says she enjoyed the experience, it’s not something she’ll be doing a lot. “You You have to have these se mirrors and carefully positioned equipment,” she explains, “and at the moment, my shows are a bit unpredictable.” e” What would it take to compromise your sense of spontaneity? There’s pressure for me to become a theatrical production like “Glee” or something, and for my show to become a wellorganized, choreographed thing like a pop show. It’s like, “The pressure’s on, bitches.” Everybody’s sort of supposed to become that thing. At least that’s what’s considered good entertainment. So if you’re bringing something to the table that’s more about the energy and the vibe of what’s going on that night, then it’s difficult. But I might try.

You liken yourself to Matangi, the Hindu goddess who gives your latest album its title. The concept of finding a god within one’s self seems to be in the collective consciousness of artists these days: Kanye West goes deeply into it on “Yeezus.” Yeezu With Wit Kanye, the album before he al says he’s Jesus is s about complete a excess. ... So e the t next one is a totally different concept. diff But mine is more of m a progression, because it’s like you’re still working on the concept of the name of M.I.A. and what that stands for, and now also about people representing untouchables and people Quoted

who live in a certain demographic. ... The deity is still somebody who looks and sounds like a woman who goes out there and fights for truth. How did you learn about Matangi? Was it something you heard about growing up? I sort of fell upon it. ... Everything sort of works like that. It’s about your experience and it’s about what you’re doing in the day and the things that concern me in my life. I always wondered about “Paper Planes,” was that just a different version of the Clash song “Straight to Hell” that I had never heard before? No, it was reproduced instead of a straight sample. Do you still fly like paper, get high like planes? What? You mean with my lifestyle now? Yeah, sure. Nothing much has changed, I should say, but it just means different things now. It’s a broader statement now. Before it was not so broad. Or maybe it was, actually about flying.

No time to text your boo, Bro?

BroApp. A new app texts sweet nothings to your signiďŹ cant other when you can’t. ANDREA PARK @andreapark

andrea.park@metro.us

Couples everywhere know that text frequency is a sensitive issue, but BroApp, which just launched on iOS, lets users schedule automatic texts to significant others so they won’t get in trouble. BroApp isn’t just for bros: Creators Tom and James, who declined to give their surnames, say that 10 percent of their users are women. Though BroApp is from Australia, half of the app’s users are American and the majority of users are between 18 and 24 years.

How did you come up with the idea for the app? Tom: I came up with the idea when I was living with James. I was working

long hours at work and you couldn’t use your mobile phone in my office, and it wasn’t very accommodating to the girlfriend. I was talking to James about it and a light bulb moment happened and we thought, “Why don’t we set up an automatic text messenger and send, ‘Hey, how is your day?’ messages to my girlfriend? We tested that for a few months and it’s quite a unique app that was useful. James: We built a prototype first, and that worked really well, but we didn’t decide to make it into a product until we told people we made this app. It had a lot of social currency and people found

it funny.

What about after the ďŹ rst text? The app can’t continue the chat. Tom: It’s just sort of to start the communication with the girlfriend so there’s still communication during the day. It wasn’t necessarily to message your girlfriend so you never have to talk to her. The idea was that it sends an initial text to start a conversation, so it’s more of a reminder than your relationship automated. But why do you need an app to do that? Why can’t you just remember to text your girlfriend? Tom: [Laughs] We were always so busy at work or

Do you love your signiďŹ cant other more than

James: You can edit the existing messages and words you don’t use. Some people have edited the “x” to the kiss with the asterisks. I understand that — and expect that anyone other than perhaps our girlfriends would be suspicious of the default messages. good sign. How did you come up with the messages? James: We wrote those messages based on what we actually texted to our girlfriends. I guess we didn’t really think so, but what happened was a lot of Australianisms crept in there, so we caught a lot of flak on social media.

It sounds like you could really use it to text anyone you need to text occasionally, then. James: My brother uses it to text my mom. When I told her about BroApp and an extension called MomApp, she was very annoyed and said she’d be outraged — but I don’t know if she knows my brother uses it.

Not your coffee cart’s bagels Hot chef. Dianna Daoheung is slinging the dough at Black Seed Bagels. While owners Noah Bernamoff and Matt Kliegman are the familiar names behind bagel sensation Black Seed, it’s head baker Dianna Daoheung who is really killing it in Nolita. Daoheung worked on the line at Mile End and developed their bread program. She honed the recipe for her New York/Montreal bagel mash-up, sold at Black Seed, which opened in April. With lines around the block for a bagel in a city that’s legendary for them, the cronut comparisons are trickling in. Read on for more about the frenzy. What part of this bagel is Montreal and which is New York? The Montreal style is the wood fire, the sweetness and the size. The New York part is that it’s not as dense. If you eat it untoasted, it still has softness in the middle, and the outer coating has this beautiful crust. Are you surprised by the

Visit Daoheung at Black Seed Bagels (170 Elizabeth St., 212-730-1950). / AARON ADLER

popularity of Black Seed? I’m absolutely blown away. Me and Rob [the other baker] worked on this recipe for months and months. … You never know when you open if there will even be two people waiting. The fact that there’s an hour and a half line is the baker’s dream. I respect the cronut but I wish people wouldn’t compare [us].

Hole in one

Did you do a lot of research and tasting to get the recipe down pat? I went to Beauty’s [Montreal-style bagels in Oakland] to see their style and tips and techniques that Blake [the owner] shared. A lot of people are really secretive, but that’s one thing about the new generation of bagel makers — we’re not secretive. At the end, it’s the same process and the difference is what your ratios are.

But this is a mash-up, as is the cronut. It’s not such a crazy comparison. I appreciate that we’re compared to something that has just as much public and mass appeal. … But it’s just big shoes to fill. CINDY AUGUSTINE letters@metro.us

Cool the debate on global warming Re: ‘The sand’s getting hot, so don’t bury your head in it’ (Metro, May 7) Letter writer Carl Hanson needs not be confused about the climate confusion. The main argument is about the cause, not about the existence of global warming. One side says that it is mostly man-made and we should take steps to minimize our contribution to it. The other side claims that it is natural cycle of our planet’s warming and cooling, completely outside of our ability to do anything about it.

science organization denies anthropogenic climate change. Even the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (see the conflict of interest?) only quibbles about the extent. Skepticism is an important part of science, but the debate is over, and the “free press” argument is inane. You may choose to willfully ignore the evidence if you like, but giving equal time to climate-change deniers — when 97 percent of climate scientists agree that human impact on climate is serious — isn’t responsible journalism. Idzik has fingerprints on draft for first time NFL draft. While the Jets GM is in his second draft in New York, he went into 2013 without his chosen sta. Despite 2014 being general manager John Idzik’s second NFL draft with the Jets, it will actually be his show for the first time on Thursday. Idzik waited until after his first draft class to bring in new personnel talent, choosing continuity in an effort to stave off too much upheaval at the top of the pyramid. “We went through the entire cycle together [this year], not only with the college staff but the coaches and everybody else that is involved,â€? That’s going to be massaged to a certain degree, but much less so this year. So, yeah, there is a higher comfort level this year. One league general manager told Metro New York last week that the 2013 draft class for the Jets was “a solid B. “That isn’t bad, the GM said, “but it was not one they aced. With two additional weeks before this year’s NFL draft comes extra chances at evaluating, or over evaluating, the talent pool. Luckily for the Giants, they could use the added time as they have many holes to fill coming off a 7-9 campaign. General manager Jerry Reese has been busy this offseason, as the Giants have been one of the more active teams during free agency, adding almost 20 new faces. Big Blue has needs and depth issues all over the place, particularly at offensive line, tight end, running back and defensive line,. The Giants have a way of settling their draft board, as they usually have a list of prospects and cross off each name until it’s their turn to pick — choosing the best player available when on the clock. Rangers one loss from elimination after Game 4 The Rangers are one game away from being eliminated after a 4-2 loss to the Penguins in Game 4 of the Metropolitan Division ďŹ nal Wednesday night at the Garden. The Rangers trail the bestof-seven series 3-1. Game 5 is set for 7 p.m. Friday at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh. For a game head coach Alain Vigneault termed “as close to a must[-win] gameâ€? after the morning skate, the Rangers looked largely passive. After two periods, they trailed 2-1, had been outshot 17-11 — including 10-5 in the second period — and out-attempted, 48-26. The Rangers never led in Game 4, as Evgeni Malkin put Pittsburgh on the board 2:31 into the game with a spinning backhander that eluded Henrik Lundqvist. Carl Hagelin tied the game at 1-1 5:30 into the second period with his third of the playos. But they would never take the lead. Brent Sutter tapped in a short-handed goal at 18:27 of the second, and Jussi Jokinen added an unassisted even-strength marker 7:02 into the third to put the Pens up 3-1. Mats Zuccarello made it a one-goal game before Chris Kunitz’s score with 5:56 left put it out of reach. DENIS GORMAN

No. 13

Texans (2-14)

Browns (4-12)

Bucs (4-12)

Lions (7-9)

Rams (7-9)

Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina — After months of speculation over who would be drafted No. 1, the same thing most everyone thought a year ago at this time is true: Clowney is the best player in this draft. There was a late push from the Falcons to move up to nab Clowney after they put him through a newfangled test — the Force Plate Test.

Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M — One of the more recent rumors was that the Rams were interested in Manziel.

Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson— The Bucs’ need at wide receiver appears too great for Lovie Smith to pick defense.

Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State — The Lions need a cornerback with the ability to make big plays.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama — The Rams simply need NFL-caliber bodies in the secondary right now.

Raiders (4-12)

Vikings (5-10-1)

Titans (7-9)

Bears (8-8)

Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M — The old Raiders would have taken Sammy Watkins.

Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville — Every team can’t be down on selecting Bridgewater.

Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech — Tennessee could still grab QB Derek Carr in the second round.

Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville — We go with Pryor at No. 14. The Bears have a need at strong safety.

Rams (7-9)

Jaguars (4-12)

Falcons (4-12)

Bills (6-10)

Giants (7-9)

Steelers (8-8)

Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn — Jeff Fisher prefers substance over flash. St. Louis goes with the sure thing.

Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo — It is wise to stay away from quarterback here unless they’re absolutely certain.

Blake Bortles, QB, UCF — No, Matt Ryan isn’t being replaced by Bortles. Expect the Falcons to trade down.

Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan — The Bills will take the best available offensive lineman. In this case, it’s Lewan.

Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina — The Giants will likely look to the offensive side of the ball here.

Anthony Barr, LB, UCLA — If the Steelers don’t take the 3-4 OLB, the Cowboys may take him with the next pick.
