More than 6.1 million people rode the New York City subway on Sept. 23, the highest recorded number since the MTA started keeping track in 1985. The MTA said ridership exceeded 6 million on five different days in September. The monthly total was 149 million riders, more riders than any other September in 60 years. The average number of riders on a weekday is 5.8 million, according to MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz. Riders also set records on Sunday, Sept. 21, when nearly 3 million passengers took the train, the highest ridership on a Sunday since 1985, and likely the highest since the late 1940s. That was the day of the People’s Climate March, when more than 310,000 people walked through the streets of Manhattan, calling on the United Nations to take a stand against climate change. In a prepared release, MTA Chairman and CEO Thomas F. Prendergast

He stressed the importance of the MTA making improvements, such as new subway cars, signals and stations, as ridership continues to rise. John Raskin, executive director of the Riders Alliance, said the increased ridership numbers are cause for “celebration,” but also “concern” in terms of building and maintaining subway systems, especially because of a $15 billion gap in funding. “The system has made leaps and bounds of progress over the bad old days of the 1980s,” Raskin said. “The most important thing with the number of more people on the subway is finding money to

A Brooklyn man who caught on fire yesterday in Midwood has died. Security footage showed the man, later identified as Mohammad Saram, on fire as he ran into the street outside of 910 McDonald Ave. on Tuesday afternoon. Saram, 22, was transported in critical condition to Maimonides Medical Center, then transferred to a burn unit, where he later died. Witnesses were able to help extinguish the flames before firefighters and paramedics arrived. It is believed Saram was drying tobacco to smoke in a hookah. METRO New York City

Ghostly art form revisited at spirit photography evening Manhattan. The Penumbra Tintype Studio will resurrect a haunted photo style this week. The dead come back to life at the Penumbra Tintype Studio this Thursday evening … sort of. Those looking to connect with a creepy lost art form can take part in “An Evening of Spirit Photography” at the photography studio. Spirit photography emerged in Boston and New York with the rise of the Spiritualist Movement and the end of the Civil War. While the country was dealing with the aftermath of the more than 600,000 people killed in the war, the belief was that the photos could capture

ment and methods of creating tintype portraiture. Those who attend can choose from a variety of haunted props that will manifest into the photos. Lupo will pose the subjects and props, take a photo, preparing the plate with chemicals and let the visitors watch as the haunted object comes to life. “That’s really the most fun part for people,” Lupo said. “I feel like that’s the magic moment when the image starts coming through, especially when you don’t know what to expect. There’s always a bit of a shock and surprise for people. Even if you think there’s going to be a spirit there.” To find out more about the special event visit PenumbraFoundation.org.

Art form born of tragedy The Tintype Studio is part of the Penumbra Foundation, a nonprofit that offers classes on photography from its inception to the present day. The Tintype Studio celebrates tintypes, a form of photography using plates that was popular in the 1860’s and 1870’s. Tintypes were passed down as family heirlooms. The Studio is the only one that offers spirit photography and hosts a workshop on the subject. Earlier in October, Penumbra hosted a workshop called “Hocus Pocus,” teaching others how to take spirit photos. “I think spirit photographs are possibly more relevant today than they ever were, as we continue to examine the credibility of manipulated images,” Lupo said.

The forgotten graves of Woodlawn Bronx. More than 310,000 famous and obscure New Yorkers call the cemetery home. Everyone is one quick Wikipedia search away from knowing that Miles Davis and Duke Ellington, Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia, the Macy family and Joseph Pulitzer are buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx. Last Sunday, on the first crisp and windy day of fall, Metro tagged along with David Ison, executive director of the 400-acre cemetery, to explore some of the less-famous graves of the more than 310,000 souls that are resting there. “Anybody that ever was somebody, or wanted to be somebody in New York, is buried here, Ison said. Canada’s parliament attacked, soldier is fatally shot nearby Violence. The shootings followed an attack on two soldiers on Monday carried out by a convert to Islam. A gunman attacked Canada’s parliament on Wednesday, with gunfire erupting near where Prime Minister Stephen Harper was speaking, and a soldier was fatally shot at a nearby war memorial, stunning the Canadian capital. The gunman, identified by CNN as Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, was shot dead in the parliament building and Harper was safely removed in incidents that may have been linked to Islamic militants.

Witness accounts indicated the man who shot dead the soldier guarding the National War Memorial in central Ottawa, went on to attack the parliament building minutes later. Canadian police said however they could not “at this point confirm it was the same person. Witnesses said a flurry of shots were fired after a gunman entered the parliament building, pursued by police. The assault took place very near the room where Harper was meeting with members of his Conservative party, a government minister said. The incident, shocking in Canada’s normally tranquil capital, began shortly before 10 a.m. ET and was not over late in the afternoon. REUTERS

Did I mention the $59 price tag? This is a LOT of machine for not a lot of money. The Stauer Centurion Hybrid sports a heavy-duty alloy body, chromed and detailed with a rotating bezel that allows you to track time and speed. The luminous hour and minute hands mean you can keep working into the night. And the dual digital displays give this watch a hybrid ability. Fowle back home in ‘good health’ after detention in N. Korea Released. Fowle was arrested in May for leaving a Bible at a sailor’s club in the North Korean city of Chongjin. American Jeffrey Fowle returned to his home in southern Ohio on Wednesday, with his lawyer saying he was in good health after a nearly half-year detention in reclusive North Korea. Fowle, 56, had been one of three Americans held by Pyongyang, which typically has tried to use the release of foreign captives as a way to build domestic political support for its leaders. Fowle needs time to adjust to his life back home in a Dayton suburb before addressing the media about his ordeal, Tepe said, add-

ing that the family wanted to offer its thanks to the State Department, the Embassy of Sweden and others for securing his release. North Korea, where recent health problems of young leader Kim Jongun have raised questions about his grip on power, tried to show that the release came after pleading from Washington. “Kim Jong-un, first

chairman of the National Defense Commission of the DPRK, took such a special measure as setting free Jeffrey Edward Fowle, U.S. criminal, taking into consideration the repeated requests of U.S. President Obama,” its official KCNA news agency said. Hassan Rouhani

Iran president denounces bill to empower Islamic vigilantes Iranian President Hassan Rouhani came out on Wednesday against a parliamentary bill to empower vigilantes who enforce Islamic morals, strongly reasserting a moderate agenda that had taken a back seat since his election last year. The law, proposed by conservative lawmakers who dominate parliament, would provide legal protection to citizens who take it on themselves to enforce the Islamic dress code and other behavior prescribed under Iran’s sharia law. It would bolster the work of vigilantes, and in particular the Basiji — volunteer paramilitaries who often patrol streets to the resentment of many Iranians. REUTERS

Gmail users can use the new Inbox app with their same passwords. / GETTY IMAGES

Google launched an email service called “Inbox” on Wednesday that will better organize emails and display information such as appointments, flight bookings and package deliveries in a more userfriendly way. Google said it was sending out invitations to selected Gmail users to try out the new service. Users can also email the company at inbox@google. com to get an invitation. For now, the new service is being provided alongside Gmail, which

was launched in 2004. It will be available on the Web, Android smartphones and iPhones.

Google said Inbox displays real-time updates to emails — for example, showing the delivery status of items bought online. It also shows reminders in a more accessible way that allows users to more easily keep track of chores and appointments. The company said the new application also enhances features that are already available in Gmail that allow users to view purchases and bank account statements grouped together. REUTERS

Zellweger speaks out about her, um, ‘different look’

CULTURE

Twitter feed Today, Russell Brand is feeling welcomed and embraced, Taye Diggs is spreading lies about Sting, Zachary Quinto is on Team Zellweger and Miles Teller is asking the tough questions. @rustyrockets: Media reaction to my UNRELEASED book — “Who are you to say anything?” or “How dare you say something”. @TayeDiggs: Sting is the coolest dude I know and he’s 98 but he looks younger because he uses sunscreen. @ZacharyQuinto: kudos to renee zellweger for responding with grace and intelligence to a deluge of unfounded accusation. A classy and thoughtful statement. @Miles_Teller: Does anyone actually own a chia pet.. And if so, how do you have the time to take care of it with all of your cats?

If you were anywhere near the Internet earlier this week, you heard about Renee Zellweger and reactions to her recent red carpet appearance. Or, more specifically, reactions to her face. It’s a little odd that the story got so much attention, because the actress had been photographed in public last month (see page 25) and nobody made a big deal about it. Well, a big deal was certainly made earlier this week, and apparently, Zellweger was listening. In a move uncharacteristic of celebrity culture, she has offered a response. Only it’s more awesome in theory than in practice. “I’m glad folks think I look different! I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows,” she tells People magazine. “It seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth which doesn’t exist won’t get off my porch until I answer the door.” Zellweger somehow pulls off being both folksy

and coy! As for talk of a drastic change in her appearance? That’s just time, baby: “People don’t know me in my 40s,” Zellweger explains. “People don’t know me healthy for a while. Perhaps I look different. Who doesn’t as they get older?” Hilariously, the story is devoid of the phrase “plastic surgery” or any words like that. The mag simply uses the euphemism “her different look.” We have a feeling this won’t really keep people off her porch.

RADCLIFFE RECENTLY LET SLIP THAT HE’S SOMETHING OF A “STAR WARS” NEWBIE. “I HAD ONLY WATCHED THE FIRST THREE ORIGINAL MOVIES WITHIN THE LAST SIX MONTHS,” HE SAYS. “I ADMITTED THAT TO [DIRECTOR] J.J. ABRAMS AND HE LOOKED AT ME LIKE HE MAYBE WANTED TO KILL ME FOR A SECOND.” BUT THEN ABRAMS GOT OVER IT AND FINISHED FILMING RADCLIFFE’S SURPRISE “STAR WARS” CAMEO, RIGHT?

Billy Bob opens up about Angie’s blood

If you’ve been waiting for Billy Bob Thornton to address the Angelina Jolie wearing a vial of blood around her neck thing from more than a decade ago, well, first of all, you’re weird. But it’s your lucky day! While speaking at a university in L.A. recently, the actor said, “You know those lockets you buy that are clear and you put a picture of your granny in it or something like that and wear it around your neck? That’s what it was. ... She thought it would be interesting and romantic if we took a little razor blade and sliced our fingers, smeared a little blood on these lockets and you wear it around your neck. ... From that, we were wearing quart jars of blood around our necks. And we were vampires and we lived in a dungeon.” I knew it!

Harry Potter plays Quidditch with Yoda?

There are some places Daniel Radcliffe can’t just casually show up without stirring up rumors and speculation. Case in point: a recent visit by the “Harry Potter” star to the set of the new “Star Wars” movie. Radcliffe insists to MTV News that he was just visiting some old friends — “All the ‘Potter’ crew were doing it, so I was mainly [there] to see them,” he explains — and not to film a completely awesome, franchise-blending cameo. “I didn’t realize I’d caused commotion. I’m not in the movie,” Radcliffe says by way of apology.

A superhero brawl breaks out in Hollywood

2

New Yorkers have to contend with costumed comic book and movie characters in Times Square hocking photo ops to tourists lately, but it’s also been a regular fixture on Hollywood Boulevard for years. And, well, sometimes with that many superheroes around, it gets messy. This week, a brawl broke out between a few of the colorful characters, creating one of the most entertaining local news

“At the beginning, we see Mr. Incredible and Batgirl struggling. Chewbacca tries to break it up. Batgirl scratches Mr. Incredible,” local CBS reporter Suzanne Marques reports. This is what you see in the image on the right.

Another costumed vendor — who identifies himself only as Batman — says it’s just the result of a bad element on the Walk of Fame. “The bad ones, they roam up and down, so they cross paths. ... It’s less now because we have a lot more police presence here since last year.” Last year, by the way, two Captain Americas beat up a Spider-Man, prompting more cops to patrol the area.

Shailene Woodley gets risque Interview. The star likes the way “White Bird in a Blizzard” doesn’t shy away from teen sexuality.

SHAILENE WOODLEY FILMMAGIC

Shailene Woodley hugs you if you’re interviewing her in person. “It just gives us more of a connection,” the actress says. She doesn’t seem untouchable, even though she starred in two of 2014’s hits (“Divergent,” “The Fault in our Stars”). In fact, the film she’s peddling is the opposite of her previous blockbusters. “White Bird in a Blizzard” is a small, color-coded, sexpositive blend of drama, comedy and mystery from indie and New Queer Cinema bad boy Gregg Araki (“The Doom Generation,”

Online life

“Mysterious Skin”). Woodley plays a high schooler in the 1980s whose faintly insane housefrau mother (Eva Green) vanishes without a trace. But her character isn’t an era stereotype. “One thing I love about Kat is she’s not goth, she’s not punk, she’s not grunge,” Woodley explains. “She’s this eclectic, alternative mix of a bunch

of different things.” Like most Araki films, “White Bird” is carefree with sex, which was fine with Woodley, who found it refreshing. “Most adolescent films explore all the heartbreak and first love, but never explore the sexuality factor, which is huge,” she says. “That’s the defining thing of adolescence, figuring out who

you are sexually — being scared of it, being excited by it, being liberated from it and nervous about it and in competition with others. There are so many different elements that are involved that no one really explores in movies.” MATT PRIGGE @mattprigge

matt.prigge@metro.us

“White Bird” takes place long before we were all glued to our phones. Woodley herself tries to limit her own social media life. “It feeds insecurity,” she explains. “Instagram is all about a story. It’s all about, ‘Look how interesting I am, how neat my life is, and I want you to like it so I feel validated even though I don’t know you.’” But she doesn’t hate all social media: “I think Twitter’s actually really genius, because you can wake up in the morning and you have a feed of the things you’re interested in,” she confesses. “It’s like a personalized newspaper. I think it’s smart, but it’s just abused.”

Zombie movies could well be a part of the overarching monster genre, but the subgenre is so ubiquitous that it deserves a category of its own. Technically, zombies are dead humans who wake up from their graves, but in the past 20 years, newer works like “28 Days Later and “The Walking Dead have capitalized on our collective fear of acquiring viruses that turn us into these brain-eating creatures.

How to rock capes Name: Amy Marietta Age: 22 From: New York Blog: ViviereBella.com

“Capes make you feel elegantly powerful and give you a certain aura when you walk— superhero status, or as I like to say ‘girl boss status,’” says Marietta. Her styling tips: Go with a bold color if you want to stand out. “But you may get less wear out of your piece,” she warns. “If you go with a neutral, you can style the look many ways and it will be a staple piece for your fall wardrobe.” To avoid looking too boxy, Marietta styled her look with a lightweight tan sweater, a highwaisted skirt, a leather cross-body bag and tan ankle boots. Shauns sunglasses in taupe complete her look.

Capes aren’t just for superheroes, witches and “Harry Potter” fans — they’re one of the season’s hottest trends. We asked three bloggers to show you how to pull off the look. ELODIE NOEL, MWN

“Capes were all over the fall runways, with Saint Laurent going for a ’60s vibe while Burberry went for a more casual blanketthrown-over-the-shoulders look,” says Mamou. “Styling the cape — like I’ve done with my Ted Baker pick here — is easier than it looks.” For a modern take, Mamou says wear it with a hat, boyfriend jeans and a fringe bag.

“In the fall, when the weather tends to be unpredictable, I love the idea of throwing on a cape jacket. This one’s from H&M and can be worn with or without sleeves,” says Belkova. To balance out the bulkiness of the coat, she recommends a slimmer silhouette on the bottom, like knee-high boots and skinny jeans. “In general, I recommend balancing out the cape by wearing slim-cut bottoms, or pairing a longer cape with a dress and tights in the fall.”

Like many comedians and writers, L. Jean Schwartz often mines stories from her own life for her standup act, especially ones about the trials of being a single woman. The 20-something Schwartz had dabbled in online dating for years and decided to create a blog, The PostModern Matchmaker, which puts a twist on online dating by asking her her mother, brother and closest friends to take over her OkCupid account. “At the start of the week we rewrite the profile together, she explains. “And they sort of monitor the

Potion de Muerto

Christian Sanders, Evelyn Drinkery This cocktail looks so creepy, it might get you the side-eye from fellow patrons. Hornitos Black Barrel tequila brings the fun; beet juice brings the spook factor. The Potion is not on the regular bar menu, but ask for it from Oct. 27 to Oct. 31. Want to try your hand at this drink? Find the recipe online at Metro.us!

Eben Klemm, W New York Downtown This pale green mix of white tequila and absinthe will chill you with each sip. Creamy notes of chocolate are underpinned by crisp lime and chartreuse.

The Girl with the Mermaid Hair

Niccole Trzaska, The Liberty The cotton candy “mermaid hair” (when asked how you got it, smile enigmatically) brings whimsy to this coconut rum drink.

Haunted Hacienda

John Henderson, Roof at Park South This is the Jekyll and Hyde of cocktails: As it melts, the Campari skull cube transforms this Pisco Porton riff on a Manhattan into a Negroni.

Have a scary good time Halloween falls on Friday this year, and don’t think bars and clubs haven’t noticed. Rock out, in costume or not (but really, wear a costume) at these events.

Analogue (19 W. Eighth St.) will channel the ghostly history of Greenwich Village, transforming into a clandestine cocktail party hosted by familiar literary characters. Wander the atmospheric space as Shayfer James of “Sleep No More” sets the tone with original songs and music. Expect Poe readings and a Pernod absinthe fountain. Oct. 30, 8 p.m. Free with RSVP events@analoguenyc.com

DJs Sunnery James, Ryan Marciano and Politik set the tone as the club morphs into a goblin den complete with specialty cocktails. There will be a vodka open bar from 9-10 p.m., and best costume wins a free round. Oct. 31, 9 p.m. 289 10th Ave. $85-$25,000, www.marqueeny.com

Comedy benefit. Laugh until you scream with Alex Borstein As Ms. Swan on “MADtv,” the voice of Lois Griffin on “Family Guy” and most recently as nurse Dawn Forchette on HBO’s “Getting On,” Alex Borstein has made us laugh via multiple comedic vehicles. On Oct. 28, she’s bringing that talent to a rare appearance as host of “What’s So Bloody Funny?” a stand-up showcase benefiting the National Hemophilia Foundation. Performers will include Judah Friedlander (“30 Rock”) and Rory Albanese (“The Daily Show”), and costumes are encouraged for everyone. We caught up with Borstein to talk about comedy, her personal connection to hemophilia and her favorite Halloween candy.

When did you first know you wanted to get into comedy? A brother of mine had hemophilia, and there were constant hospital fees and crankiness. I started doing things to be funny; it was the role I inhabited. It was fun to make people laugh and change somebody’s mood. I thought, “This is kind of a neat superpower.” Do people ask you to do Lois Griffin’s voice? Oh, all the time. People want me to, like, leave messages on their phones. In the street people will just walk up to me and shove their phone in my face, and it’s either Lois Griffin or Miss Swan.

Tell me about “What’s So Bloody Funny?”. My brother has hemophilia, and my little girl is a mild hemophiliac. I wanted to help raise awareness for this disease. There is a lot of misinformation out there and I like to get the word out. We do it around

Halloween because we like the tie-in with blood. Are you a Halloween fan? Yes, I’m obsessed with Halloween! My family and I do stuff together. Last year we were all Scooby Doo characters and, of course, I was Velma.

What’s your favorite candy? I do love an Almond Joy, which makes me weird and old, but then the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and the Twix. That’s what’s so great about Halloween is that you don’t have to decide. MOLLY CONGDON

Giants bye report card

The Giants hit their bye one game under .500, but with greater hopes than last season. Metro delivers our grades. MARK OSBORNE mark.osborne@metro.us

The Giants hit the unofficial halfway point of their season in Week 8. And while the 2014 season has certainly gone much better than last year, it’s hardly been smooth sailing. They sit at 3-4, with a three-game winning streak serving as the meat between two backto-back losses. And as fans are prone to do in the weekly rollercoaster of the NFL, the current morass over consecutive losses is just as low as the heights of the wins over Houston, Washington and Atlanta. Metro grades the key players’ performances on this Giants team at the bye.

Eli Manning

Will Beatty

J.D. Walton

Considering his own quarterback coach wouldn’t give him an A — he is falling short of the 70 percent mark after all — we can’t give him one either. But Manning has been solid, even as his team struggles. He has a career-high 64.9 completion percentage and his yards per completion is percentage points below his career average. Most importantly, he’s on pace to throw 32 touchdowns against only 11 interceptions, one year after throwing 27. Grade: B–

The team’s left tackle struggled badly last season after signing a big-money deal. He’s been much better in 2014, though. Pro Football Focus, an advanced analytics site, actually had him ranked as the No. 1 tackle in football through four games. And while he may not be the best after the line struggled against the Eagles (eight sacks), he’s kept Manning’s blind side plenty protected on the whole. And, critically, he’s been healthy. Grade: B

The most important position that gets overlooked in football is probably center. Walton, who joined the team in the offseason after playing with the Broncos and Redskins, has stepped in the position after a camp battle with rookie Weston Richburg. He’s held onto the role without major incident. Offensive line coach Pat Flaherty met with the media Tuesday — and Walton didn’t even come up. No news is good news for a “big ugly.” Grade: B

B-

Rueben Randle

Rashad Jennings

As one of the most popular breakthrough candidates in preseason, Randle has been a little disappointing. He has 34 receptions for 321 yards and two touchdowns on the season, but he’s been fairly consistent if not explosive. He’s yet to have a 100-yard receiving game and both of his touchdowns are on short receptions. With Victor Cruz done, he needs to step up more. Grade: C

ELI MANNING IS ALSO ON PACE TO SET A NEW HIGH IN QUARTERBACK RATING. ALL PHOTOS GETTY IMAGES

Victor Cruz We’re able to grade Cruz’s entire season due to a devastating knee injury two weeks ago. The veteran had 23 catches for 337 yards and one touchdown in his abbreviated, six-game season. He actually probably would’ve added a touchdown to that total on the play he got injured on. But it was not to be, and now he faces a long rehab from a torn patellar tendon. The Giants could use his playmaking and leadership in the second half. Grade: C

B B

Jason Pierre-Paul

Pierre-Paul promised before the season he was back to the form of 2011 when he had 16 1/2 sacks. In fact, he said he planned to have “unlimited” sacks in 2014. It hasn’t quite worked out that way, but Pierre-Paul has looked better than he has since that breakout season. He has 3 1/2 sacks, but that only tells part of the story. Grade: B

B- C C B

After getting off to a slow start, Jennings was just starting to emerge during the team’s hot streak when he got injured. But his absence is showing how important he was when healthy. Grade: B–

32

ROLLE’S NUMBER OF TOTAL TACKLES IS DOWN SLIGHTLY THIS SEASON.

Antrel Rolle

Jon Beason

It wouldn’t have been at all surprising to expect a decline in production for Rolle this season after his best as a Giant in 2013. But there’s been very little letdown for the team’s emotional leader. Rolle already has three interceptions after setting a career-high with six last season. He’s not getting much help at free safety either. The team will need his leadership with Cruz out for the season. But you know he’s up for the task. Grade: A–

The story of Beason’s season has been injuries. After sitting out the entire training camp and preseason, he returned for Week 1, and then was promptly sidelined in Weeks 3, 4 and 5. And guess what, he’s back to being injured after going out early last week in Dallas. He simply can’t stay healthy. The Giants defense is significantly worse with backups like Spencer Paysinger or Mark Herzlich playing. Grade: D

IT WILL TAKE A BIG EFFORT FOR PIERRE-PAUL TO REACH DOUBLE DIGITS IN SACKS IN 2014.

Prince Amukamara

Sex or no sex, Amukamara looks all grown up in 2014. It’s hard to believe Amukamara is already in his fourth season, but it’s nice to see him finally living up to his first-round draft status. There is still room for improvement, as shown by some struggles last week against Dez Bryant, but he and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are the best pair of corners they’ve had in awhile. Grade: B

Mathias Kiwanuka

A- D B C-

The man on the opposite end of the line from Pierre-Paul has been quiet. He has 1 1/2 sacks, and Damontre Moore has seen increased playing time as the season has continued. Grade: C–

GRAB THESE NBA SLEEPERS Fantasy sports

ADAM LEVITAN ALEVITAN@METRO.US

James is gone and Dwyane Wade’s on his last legs, Bosh could revert back to his go-to guy ways. His elite free-throw shooting and ability to hit 3-pointers are added bonuses.

Fantasy leagues aren’t won on first-round decisions between Steph Curry, James Harden and Russell Westbrook. All those guys are going to be great. They’re won by hitting on late-round sleepers (last week’s column hit on Jared Sullinger, Alec Burks, Giannis Antetokounmpo) and finding value through the middle of the draft. Don’t be afraid to target these guys aggressively.

Fire up these borderline players in Week 8: •

Zach Ertz vs. Arizona — A team that is absolutely inept at covering the tight end has to deal with a premier route-running athlete in Ertz.

Travaris Cadet vs. Green Bay — If you’re in a deeper PPR league, Cadet is a great bet for 4-6 catches in this likely shootout. Pierre Thomas (shoulder) is out.

Terrance Williams vs. Washington — A bit dependent on touchdowns, but this Redskins secondary loves giving up big plays in the back end.

All hail Victor

The old Bosh Let’s not forget that Chris Bosh is a superstar who sacrificed personal stats for the sake of championships. During Bosh’s final year in Toronto, he averaged 24 points, 10.8 rebounds and one block while shooting nearly 52 percent from the field — easily a top 10 fantasy player. Now that LeBron

As a 21-year-old rookie last year, Victor Oladipo averaged 13.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.6 steals while starting just 44 games. It’s only going to get better. The Magic have fully committed to a youth movement, cleansing themselves of both Jameer Nelson and Arron Afflalo. It leaves tons of room for Oladipo to spread his wings toward 33 to 35 minutes a night as part of a major second-year breakout. New backcourt mate Elfrid Payton makes for a nice sleeper as well.
