Mariusz Starzec has been waiting 10 years for what President Barack Obama is expected to accomplish in a matter of weeks — an executive order that would, in part, allow undocumented workers with children who are American citizens to secure work permits. Starzec, 43, and his wife, Ewa, came to the U.S. legally on a tourist visa in late 2002. They planned to work, but not necessarily to stay permanently. That changed when their daughter Zuzanna was born six years ago with congenital nephritic syndrome and severe epilepsy. Friends who worked as physicians and nurses back home in Poland told them to stay in America to get the best medical care, and they listened. Now, the Starzecs are waiting for Obama to act. The proposed executive action, expected to happen before the end of the year, could allow some 5 million undocumented immigrants to stay in the country, and issue them work permits. In years past, the president said a sweeping reform would be undemocratic, but members of the newly Republicancontrolled Congress are opposed to any amnesty plan. Despite their status, caring for Zuzanna is Starzec’s top priority. When she was 3 1/2, Starzec donated

a kidney to his daughter. A month later, Starzec, a trained civil engineer, found a job as a part-time super at a Bensonhurst apartment building, which lets the family live rent-free and doesn’t require him to have a Social Security number to work. Starzec says he pays his taxes every year, but even that “is not enough” to let him stay in the U.S. legally, he said in the family’s light-filled apartment. With little spare cash, the home is furnished with chairs and artwork found on city streets. The New York Legal Assistance Group, which has been helping the Starzecs obtain the right to stay in the U.S., says the family could qualify because they are parents of American

citizens, and have been living in the country for more than 10 years. They may also qualify because of Zuzanna’s health problems. “For us, it would be a huge change,” Starzec said. “I was educated in Poland, and pretty well. So I’m capable of doing much more things … I know there is always the question that you’re going to take jobs from somebody, but maybe not.” If the executive action is passed, Starzec is most looking forward to getting a driver’s license and buying a minivan, so he can drive his daughter to her frequent doctor and hospital visits. For now, he depends on a car service to travel to New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell

Medical Center in Manhattan, using pillows to stabilize Zuzanna for the ride, to lower her chance of having a seizure. He dreams of being able to work from home for a computer company, and put his master’s degree in civil engineering to work. He also thinks having his own insurance would take pressure off of U.S. taxpayers, since his daughter’s care is funded by Medicaid. And while life for the Starzecs is more often than not difficult, Mariusz Starzec’s face lights up when he talks about his three children. He has another daughter, Zofia, 17 months, and a baby boy, Wilhelm, born last week. “We still have hope,” Starzec said of Zuzanna. “She’s still growing, and we see her changing, some for the better.” WENDY JOAN BIDDLECOMBE Wendy.Biddlecombe@metro.us

Security boosted at city synagogues in wake of Israel attack Response. No credible threat to the New York Jewish community, police say. The NYPD has increased security to protect New York’s Jewish population, spread across the five boroughs, following the Tuesday attack on a Jerusalem

synagogue that left five people dead, including three U.S. citizens. The NYPD said there was no “specific credible threat to New York City,” Commissioner William Bratton said. The dead included Rabbi Moshe Twersky, whose grandfather served as dean of the Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary at Yeshiva University in Manhattan. “To see such violence happen is painful,” Imam

Williamsburg. Orthodox Jewish man attacked, called racial slurs Hours before the attack on a Jerusalem synagogue, an Orthodox Jewish man was beaten on Monday afternoon as he waited for a train at Williamsburg’s Marcy Avenue stop. The 53-year-old man was approached by three assailants. One reached into the victim’s pocket. When the victim responded, the attacker spat at him, grabbed his umbrella and beat him over the head with it,

while calling him a “dirty bloody Jew.” After the trio ran off, the victim chased them, but a second suspect kicked him from behind in the leg and the back while calling him a “f**king Jew.” When a bystander tried to break up the brawl, he was also attacked. Police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime, and said the suspects are AfricanAmerican males and are not believed to have any

sectarian connection. Monday’s attack follows similar instances dating back to late 2013, when teens targeted random victims in a game called “knockout,” sneaking up behind their victims and trying to punch them in the head. Victims of those beatings included a 78-year-old woman and 24-year-old man, each attacked in Brooklyn’s Midwood neighborhood. DAN BUYANOVSKY

Subway. Suspect held in shoving death

Police identiďŹ ed Darden, left, as the suspect. / DCPI

Police have arrested a suspect in the death of a Bronx man shoved in front of a moving D train Sunday morning. Wai Kuen Kwok, 61, died after being pushed in front of a southbound train at the 167th Street station, while his wife watched. Security camera video showed Kevin Darden, 34, smoking a cigarette after fleeing the subway station. He was arrested by detectives on Tuesday evening in the 48th Precinct, which includes the Tremont area of the Bronx, and questioned as a person of interest in the homicide, police said.

Darden, an ex-convict who has been arrested 30 times in 15 years, never said a word to Kwok, a father of two, before the fatal push, the Daily News reported. Darden was arrested for trying to burn down his brother’s home in Texas, and earlier spent seven years in prison for robbery, the News said. Darden is also wanted in an assault at the West 4th Street subway station on Nov. 6, when police said he pushed a 51-yearold man to the ground, injuring the man’s head and back. Killings signal more strife: Analyst

Palestinians have used knives or rammed into pedestrians with their cars. Aryeh Deri, a lawmaker from the ultraorthodox Shas party, said the attack was a declaration of war on Jews because of their faith. “The Jews who came to worship are lying on the oor, their blood mixed with prayer shawls and phylacteries.â€? The violence of the Jerusalem synagogue attack suggests “some kind of escalation dynamic, said Mark Heller, research fellow at the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University. Hamas spokesman

Husam Badran, in a post on his Facebook page, called the assault a response to “the successive crimes of the occupation,â€? including the death of the bus driver. The website of the group, classiďŹ ed as terrorist by the U.S. and European Union as well as Israel, promised to avenge the driver’s death yesterday. In several recent attacks,

Five killed in attack at Jerusalem synagogue Intolerance. Attack by Palestinians comes amid wave of deaths on both sides of conict. A pair of Palestinians armed with butcher’s cleavers and a gun killed four worshipers and a police officer at a synagogue in Jerusalem in an attack that escalated months of violence in the city. Three of the victims had dual U.S. and Israeli citizenship, and the fourth was an Israeli and British citizen. The two assailants, both from east Jerusalem, were shot and killed, The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine claimed responsibility, saying in a e-mail that the attack was a “natural responseâ€? to the Israeli occupation. Israel’s Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch urged soldiers and

security guards to start carrying their weapons even when off-duty. Medics for the Zaka emergency service said they found the victims wrapped in prayer shawls and holding prayer books lying in pools of blood. One worshiper’s arm had been chopped off, Zaka said. Tension in Jerusalem has been heightened by disputes over prayer rights at the contested shrine known to Muslims as the al-Aqsa mosque and to Jews as the Temple Mount, and by the death of a Palestinian bus driver. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas denounced the synagogue attack and called for a sustained period of “complete calm. He’s urged Jews be barred from the al-Aqsa mosque complex and condemned the bus driver’s death as “a heinous crime. An Israeli autopsy determined it was a suicide. Hong Kong protesters break into government building

Protesters are demanding open nominations in Hong Kong’s next election for chief executive in 2017. Beijing has said it will allow a vote in 2017, but only between prescreened candidates. / GETTY IMAGES

Unrest. Pro-democracy demonstrations continue despite police efforts to clear encampment. A small group of Hong Kong pro-democracy protesters broke into the city’s legislature via a side door early on Wednesday, and police stopped others forcing their way in as tensions in the Chinese-controlled city escalated following a period of calm. The flare-up came just hours after court bailiffs managed to clear part of a protest camp in the heart of the city that has been occupied by pro-democracy demonstrators for nearly two months, while leaving most of the main protest site intact. About 100 riot police with helmets, batons and shields stood guard outside the government building in the early hours of Wednesday, facing off with protesters who are demanding free elections for the city’s next leader in 2017.

“Police retreat!” the protesters chanted. It was the first time protesters had broken into a key public building, defying the expectations of many political analysts who had predicted that Hong Kong’s most tenacious and protracted protest movement would slowly wind down. The escalation came in the early hours of Wednesday when a small group of protesters charged toward the legislature and used metal barricades and concrete tiles to ram a glass side door. They eventually smashed through, with several managing to get inside, according to witnesses. REUTERS

Study

CEO pay exceeded tax payments at 7 top US firms Twenty-five of the 100 highest-paid U.S. CEOs earned more last year than their companies paid in federal income tax, according to a study by a Washington think tank. At a time when law-

makers are facing tough choices in a quest to slash the national debt, the Institute for Policy Studies, a left-leaning group, said it also found many of the companies spent more on lobbying than they did on taxes. The senior Democrat on the House of Representatives

oversight committee, Elijah Cummings, called for hearings on executive compensation “to examine the extent to which the problems in CEO compensation that led to the economic crisis continue to exist today.” Several companies mentioned in the report took issue

with its methodology and said they paid all taxes owed. General Electric spokesman Andrew Williams called the study “inaccurate” and noted it did not include significant income taxes paid in 2010 for previous years, or state taxes paid. “GE pays what it owes,” he wrote in an email response to questions. The U.N. General Assembly committee dealing with human rights passed a resolution on Tuesday calling for the U.N. Security Council to consider referring North Korea to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged crimes against humanity. The nonbinding resolution passed by the U.N. Third Committee linked the alleged abuses to the policies of North Korea’s top leadership and called on the Security Council to consider targeted sanctions against those responsible for such crimes. Tuesday’s vote followed a U.N. Commission of Inquiry report published in February detailing wide-ranging abuses in North Korea, including the use of prison camps, systematic torture, starvation and killings comparable to Nazi-era atrocities. Troops. NATO leader sees ‘serious military buildup’ in Ukraine NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg denounced on Tuesday what he called a serious Russian military buildup both inside Ukraine and on the Russian side of the border and urged Moscow to pull back its troops. Stoltenberg said NATO saw movement of troops, equipment, tanks, artillery and also of advanced air defense systems in violation of a ceasefire agreement. Russia denies providing arms or troops to support a separatist pro-Russian rebellion in eastern Ukraine, which began after the removal of a Kremlin-oriented Ukrainian president by mass protests in February. A cease-fire was agreed in

“We also see a military buildup on the Russian side of the border. ... This is a serious military buildup, and we call on Russia to pull back its troops.” Stoltenberg early September, but fighting flared again recently. Stoltenberg told reporters as he arrived for a meeting with European Union defense ministers he had information on a buildup inside Ukraine. Russia denied similar accusations last week by NATO’s top military commander, U.S. Air Force General Philip Breedlove, who said NATO had spotted military equipment arriving from Russia in regions of east Ukraine held by pro-Russian separatist rebels. General-Major Igor Konashenkov, a Russian Defense Ministry official, dismissed Breedlove’s comments last week as antiRussian “hot air.” REUTERS

Uber exec suggests ‘digging up dirt’ on media critics

HE WENT TO

A senior executive at ride-sharing company Uber suggested that the company should spend a million dollars to hire a team of opposition researchers to “dig up dirt” on its critics in the media, BuzzFeed reported. The comments came from Emil Michael, Uber’s senior vice president for business, during a private dinner. He later said he believed the conversation was off the record. Over dinner, Michael outlined the notion of hiring a team that could, he said, help Uber fight back against the press — they’d look into “your personal lives, your families,” and give the media a taste of its own medicine, according to the BuzzFeed article, written by Ben Smith, the site’s editor-in-chief. Jaden and Willow Smith go all out with the crazy

CULTURE

Breaking news: Jaden and Willow Smith are not like normal kids.

Twitter feed Today, Garry Shandling is feeling the romance, Mindy Kaling lives by firm rules, Billy Eichner is nostalgic and Courtney Love is clearing the air. @GarryShandling: Charles Manson to marry. Another score for EHarmony. @mindykaling: If you like a pie that is a “blank cream pie”, you are trash. Apple, cherry, pecan, peach, rhubarb, these are the acceptable pies. @billyeichner: I miss Bunheads. @Courtney: Ok ok @EdwardNorton I admit it. You were a good boyfriend, I was a terrible girlfriend. But I miss your funny ass. Love ya dude xx

Jaden and Willow Smith sat down with The New York Times’ T Magazine to talk about all sorts of things that reinforce why giving teens a platform to pontificate is a bad idea. But it’s too late, so let’s bask in the pretension:

On creativity:

On time and relativity: “It’s proven that how time moves for you depends on where you are in the universe. It’s relative to beings and other places. But on the level of being here on Earth, if you are aware in a moment, one second can last a year.” JADEN

“We’re just trying to make music that we think is cool. We don’t think a lot of the music out there is that cool. So we make our own music. We don’t have any song that we like to listen to on the P.C.H. by any other artist, you know?”

“I mean, time for me, I can make it go slow or fast, however I please, and that’s how I know it doesn’t exist.” WILLOW

JADEN

“Kids who go to normal school are so teenagery, so angsty. ... You never learn anything in school. Think about how many car accidents happen every day. Driver’s ed? What’s up? I still haven’t been to driver’s ed because if everybody I know

“That’s what I do with novels. There’s no novels that I like to read so I write my own novels, and then I read them again, and it’s the best thing.” WILLOW

On education:

has been in an accident, I can’t see how driver’s ed is really helping them out.” JADEN “I went to school for one year. It was the best experience but the worst experience. The best experience because I was, like, ‘Oh, now I know why kids are so depressed.’ But it was the worst experience because I was depressed.” WILLOW

On life goals: “I have a goal to be just the most craziest person of all time. And when I say craziest, I mean, like, I want to do like Olympiclevel things. I want to be the most durable person on the planet.” JADEN “I think by the time we’re 30 or 20, we’re going to be climbing as many mountains as we can possibly climb.” WILLOW

GOSSIP

Neil Young won’t keep rocking in line at Starbucks Neil Young, rock’s resident cranky uncle, is boycotting Starbucks over a lawsuit challenging Vermont’s new genetically modified food labeling law. “I used to line up and get my latte every day, but yesterday was my last one,” Young writes on his Website. “If we can generate enough attention, we can push Starbucks to withdraw its support for the lawsuit and then pressure other companies to do the same.” A spokesman for Starbucks, however, claims Young is off-base. “The petition claiming that Starbucks is part of this litigation is completely false and we have asked the petitioners to correct their description of our position,” a company statement reads. Is it weird that I lost a little respect for Young when he admitted he drank lattes from Starbucks every day? I mean, that just doesn’t sit right.

Are Your Legs Enjoy Thanksgiving Suffering From... with none of the stress Varicose Veins Leg Ulcers Spider Veins Pain Restlessness

Heaviness Swelling Itching Fatigue Cramping Burning

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite meals of the year. I’ve been lucky because someone else has always cooked for me; I suppose that’s one of the benefits of a small Manhattan apartment. These days I like to let restaurants do the work, which makes the day so relaxing for everyone involved and gives you time to enjoy the parade. Use your phone to set up your dinner in minutes.

Tony DiNapoli 147 W. 43rd St. and 1081 Third Ave. Tony’s is one my favorite places for family-style dining on Thanksgiving. For $35 per person you’ll get a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings and none of the stress. They are friendly, prompt and serve up great food, including dessert. I love the sweet potatoes and apple pie. If you’re craving Italian food, you can order from the regular menu to round out your experience.

Carmine’s 200 W. 44th St. and 2450 Broadway. Carmine’s is perfect for groups of eight or more. The menu includes an 18-pound turkey, sides and a pie for $239.95, or $30 per person. They book up fast, so get your request in and save doing the dishes for another day. The meal includes five sides and sausage and sage stuffing. They give all their food that Italian kick of garlic and spices to make it special.

Bocca di Bacco Five locations. Bocca offers a four-course dinner with homemade pumpkin pasta and turkey with apple sausage chestnut stuffing. Their homemade pastas are top notch; I’ve been known to order it for dessert. They don’t serve family style so you’ll have your own platter for $40 per person.

Interview. This Tony winner says we’re not as critical of corporations as we are of our government.

But “The Hunger Games franchise is different: it’s politically complex. In “Mockingjay — Part 1, he reprises his role as tech master Beetee, now confined to a wheelchair as he aids the rebellion, with Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) as their mascot.

Jeffrey Wright doesn’t do a ton of splashy blockbusters; he’s a respectable thespian — a Tony-winner for “Angels in America, a man of the stage and artistic movies like “Basquiat.

The third ďŹ lm is so dierent from the ďŹ rst two. How did you view the evolution of the politics here? The first book establishes the landscape, the rules through which we view these characters. The second book blows that up. And the third book is about the consequences of that. ... There are moments

Close to the edge

Jerey Wright reprises his role as tech wizard Beetee in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1.â€? / MURRAY CLOSE

that seem right out of a news broadcast. I’m not sure if that speaks to the topicality of this film, or if it speaks to the ways in which news reporting is fictionalized today. Some people have spotted elements of our government in the Capitol, particularly the NSA. What’s great about these films is they’re wide open to interpretation. ... I don’t see the NSA in anything that’s represented in the Capitol. Corporations are more representative of

the Capitol to me than our government, generally. Our government has to be managed properly and led responsibly, but at least it has a security imperative. Still, any government has to deal with actual threats versus civil liberties. You have to balance those threats with the protection of civil liberties. Whoever said government was there to promote freedom got it wrong. It’s about restricting freedoms. ... Some people when they’re free are a—holes.

The bigger ďŹ lms you tend to do — not just these but the Bond ďŹ lms — have darker edges. Is that the draw? These ďŹ lms, and the Bond ďŹ lms too, have a younger audience. I like that these are ďŹ lms that touch on all these themes, whether they’re social themes or political themes, but ďŹ lter them through a lens that young minds can appreciate. Particularly for ďŹ lms of this scale, they have a healthy layer of cynicism. We try to make them as thrilling as possible ... but also really try to honor the more tangible and more resonant personal themes, and do that in a way that’s reective of and not distracting away from the world outside the theater. A pretty penny for parking

Parking is particularly dire downtown: About a third of the land below 59th Street used for parking has been snatched up by developers in the past 11 years, according to city data. Of the 31 lots between West 30th and 42nd streets, over half will give way to construction or are owned by development companies.

Clockwise from left: The garage at 443 Greenwich St. boasts vaulted ceilings and terra-cotta floors; the Sky Garage at 200 11th Ave. generated considerable buzz due to its private, apartment-level parking spaces; the condo at 12 E. 13th Street will have 11 automated parking spaces. / PROVIDED

Real estate. It’s not just about having the Mayback. It’s having a private place to park it that’s the ultimate luxury. Forget the yoga studio, the rooftop pool and the gym: Parking is what really distinguishes a building as top-of-the-line. “Parking is the single most important amenity a building can have,” claims Richard Cantor of CantorPecorella, a residential brokerage, who’s handling sales at two downtown buildings with parking. But as the cachet of onsite parking increases, so, too, has its cost. The 10 underground parking spaces at the new development 42 Crosby Street — which will cost an eye-popping $1 million apiece for a 99-year lease — nabbed headlines in September. And they are hardly alone among high-priced parking spaces proliferating around the city. One of Cantor’s projects, the 53-unit 443 Greenwich St., has 15 spaces in a garage that boasts vaulted ceilings, chandeliers, terra-cotta flooring and an electric charging

station for each spot. Pending city approval, prices here will range from $775,000 for a regular space to $1.5 million for a special double space. Cantor is also marketing 12 E. 13th Street — a former parking garage — which has 11 automated spaces for the building’s eight apartments. Spaces here are built into the price of every apartment, but the three left on reserve cost $500,000 each. Of course, parking in this notoriously crowded (and well-served by public transit) city has long been viewed as an extravagance — residents either need the luxury of time to circle streets for an elusive place to park, or be willing to fork over a hefty sum for a spot in a garage. But now, however, as a profusion of parking areas are being sold for development, the number of parking spots throughout the city has markedly decreased: In 2010, there were 102,000 off-street parking spaces, according to The New York Times; back in 1978, there were 127,000 spots available. Since the Sky Garage building (as it’s known) opened, parking in Manhattan has only become tougher to get — and onsite parking has become

the ultimate luxury. “There’s so little parking that it’s becoming a really highly sought-after amenity,” agreed Raphael De Niro of Douglas Elliman, who handles sales at 27 Wooster St., which has four spots on offer for $500,000 each, plus another parking spot that comes with the building’s penthouse. And that’s exactly why developers are taking the step of incorporating parking into their buildings. “We see it’s becoming more and more of a valuable commodity,” said Dan Hollander, the managing principal of DHA Capital, which is developing 12 East 13th Street with Continental Properties. At Uni K you won’t find wax warmers sitting on all day or dipping sticks. Each center has its own “onsite lab” where the exact amount of wax is prepared for a service booked. Each customer gets his or her fresh pot of wax, which is then tossed after the service.

UNI K WAX CENTER PLANS TO EXPAND ACROSS THE COUNTRY BY THE END OF 2015. / ROB LOUD

Why wax? “Waxing is the ideal hair removal for all areas of the body,” says Grupenmager. Uni K services include everything from eyebrows to Brazilians for both women and men. “It’s a longer-term solution over other types of hair removal as it lasts up to six weeks,” she adds. And the best part: less hair overall. “As with regular waxing, the hair strength is weakened and over time the hair regrows more sparsely,” she says. TINA CHADHA @TinaatMetro tina.chadha@metro.us

RSV. As enterovirus subsides, beware of another bug that targets children this winter The cold weather has been here for weeks, yet flu has barely made the headlines, crowded out by enterovirus. Though it usually passes as a seasonal respiratory illness without much notice, the virus has severely sickened people, mostly young children, in 47 states, killing 12. While the end of fall is also the end of peak season for enterovirus, it brings respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), the leading cause of hospitalization for children during their first year of life. We asked pediatrician Dr. Deborah Friedman of Maria Ferrari Children’s Hospital about this seasonal illness and what we can expect.

1

Will it be as bad as enterorvirus? Friedman says there is no similar risk. “RSV doesn’t mutate on a year-to-year basis the same way influenza does, or enterovirus D68; it always seems to be the same sorts of strains.

3

How is it spread? Like the cold, RSV is transmitted person-toperson through fluids like mucus. Sneeze into the crook of your elbow for maximum containment of germy phlegm.

4 Breathing can become a big issue in RSV infections. / STOCKBYTE

2

Watch for these

What are the symptoms? RSV infection “can present as just a little head cold, little running nose or sneezing. It’s not one of those illnesses that gives you a high fever with u-like symptoms,â€? Friedman says. There can also be wheezing, a sign of bronchiolitis.

Who is at risk? “Most children will have exposure to this virus by the time they’re 2 years old, and in most cases, it’s simply a head cold — runny nose, little or no fever, etc., Friedman says. “However, we do know that in those children who are at risk for RSV, serious infection can occur. Those include babies born prematurely, with chronic lung disease or congenital heart disease.

What do you do once you’re sick? Like a regular cold, if the fever is mild and the sick person is still eating and drinking, just wait it out. But if the child stops drinking or has trouble breathing, that’s when a doctor should be consulted.

5

How to prevent it: Lots of hand-washing. And for the upcoming holidays, warn relatives that your baby may be sick, or ask them to stay home if they’re sick. For the most at-risk kids there is a monthly injectable drug called Synagis. “It’s not a vaccine, but a manufactured antibody that protects children from getting the infection. EVA KIS

Using weight-loss pills to kick-start your diet could be sabotaging your goals instead, according to a new study. Slimming pills have a checkered past, with several brands like the notorious Fen-Phen being recalled over the years for serious side effects, including deaths. But since the Food and Drug Administration started regulating the market, there are now several brands on the market — though their promises are much less spectacular. Still, they could serve as a starting point for those needing a way to begin losing weight. But that wasn’t the finding of a new joint study by three universities. “Weight-management remedies that promise to reduce the risks of being overweight may undermine consumer motivation to engage in healthsupportive behaviors,” write Lisa E. Bolton (Pennsylvania State University), Amit Bhattacharjee (Dartmouth College) and Americus Reed II (University of Pennsylvania). “Put simply, why put effort into living a healthy lifestyle when a weightmanagement remedy can take care of the problem?” Study participants were

The group that believed in the existence of the new pill ate significantly more cookies per person, with some participants consuming as many as 30. One positive finding showed that encouraging consumers to look beyond the marketing and find trustworthy information about a drug was very effective in reducing their false expectations and, therefore, preventing any unhealthy behavior. Real morals Re: ‘Assets or liabilities?’ (Metro, Nov. 17) Displaying an unwanted amount of Kim Kardashian’s skin isn’t a question of morals. The way animals are treated on factory farms is immoral. The way child workers are treated on cocoa plantations in Ivory Coast is immoral. The thoughtless way we’re changing the world’s climate is immoral. Having separate and unequal systems of criminal justice for rich and poor is immoral. Kardashian butt? That’s merely tacky. DAN WYLIE-SEARS, VIA EMAIL

3 Peterson done for 2014 An arbitrator ruled Tuesday that the NFL can keep Vikings running back Adrian Peterson on the commissioner’s exempt list, which almost certainly rules out any chance that he will play again this season.

Both the Pats and Cardinals have won six games in a row, but there’s little doubt as to which team has been more impressive since Oct. 1. Tom Brady had a relatively bad outing in Indy on Sunday, and the Pats still hung 42 points on the Colts. Jonas Gray won’t likely be flirting with 200 yards rushing in a single game again, but does it really matter? The Pats always adjust.

Cardinals (9-1)

Eagles (7-3)

Cowboys (7-3)

Ravens (6-4)

Michael Floyd had been struggling over the last month. While he only had two catches against the Lions, both of them went for touchdowns.

The Eagles are undefeated at the Linc this season at 5-0 but are just 2-3 on the road. They have a cushy home game against the Titans this week.

The Cowboys are in the opposite boat that the Eagles, Broncos and Lions find themselves in. They’re a perfect 4-0 away from the Jerry Dome.

Remember when Steve Smith Sr. looked like Steve Smith Jr. earlier this season? Well, he hasn’t had over 70 yards receiving in over a month.

Give the Green Bay defense a hand, for once. It forced five Philly turnovers on Sunday and made Chip Kelly’s offense look pedestrian.

The Broncos just wrapped up a three-game road trip and on the journey they had a pair of flat tires, getting blown out at the Pats and losing to St. Louis.

This is simply a positive what-have-you-donefor-me-lately deal as no one would be shocked if Cincy loses this Sunday at Houston.

Few teams have corners like Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner to throw at T.Y. Hilton and Reggie Wayne, but the Pats laid out a good blueprint.

Lions (7-3)

K.C. does more with less as Alex Smith hasn’t thrown for more than 225 yards in any game in the Chiefs’ five-game streak.

According to Patspulpit .com, Matthew Stafford is 0-15 on the road against winning teams. He’ll be at New England on Sunday.

The 49ers’ wins over the Eagles and Chiefs in Weeks 4 and 5 look mighty good right about now.

Doesn’t it feel like the Seahawks’ record should be 3-7 right now? They better get their act together quick.

44-38

The Nets record under Jason Kidd last season. Despite the fact that many regarded the 2013-14 Nets as title contenders when the season began, Brooklyn’s 44-38 record was not good enough to grab even a division title. The Nets were seeded sixth and were bounced out of the playos in the second round by the Heat.

5-5

Kidd’s new team, the Milwaukee Bucks, had a 5-5 record heading into last night’s game against the Knicks at MSG. The Bucks’ mark is slightly better than the Nets’ 4-6 tally so far this season.

Jason Kidd returns to Brooklyn on Wednesday as head coach of the Bucks. / GETTY IMAGES FO

Kidd will be feeling the hate at Barclays NBA. The ‘Brooklyn Brigade’ is set to shower Jason Kidd with boos. Two weeks ago owner Mikhail Prokhorov delivered his famous “don’t let the door hit you where the lord split you line in reference to Jason Kidd’s ugly departure from the Nets this past summer. For a segment of Net fans, such as 19-year-old Zac Cullen of Marlboro, New Jersey, Kidd’s return as coach of the Bucks on Wednesday is not just another game. Cullen is part of “The Brooklyn Brigade, a contingent of diehard fans who agree with Prokhorov and are planning on expressing their feelings toward someone who is the among the greatest players in franchise history

but not viewed as among the greatest people in franchise history. “The whole thing, it’s just amazing, he can have his jersey retired by the team, he did everything for the Nets — two Finals appearances — and he just leaves us like that to go coach the Bucks after a season where the team was struggling and there were questions with him, Cullen told Metro. The Brigade will be sitting in Section 29 of the Barclays Center Wednesday and the event is listed on Facebook as “Jason Kidd Appreciation Night. The word “appreciation is placed in quote marks for sarcasm, obviously, as it illustrates the thorny place Kidd has in Nets history. On one hand, Kidd revived the franchise upon arriving in 2001, leading them to two Eastern Conference championships

Big ticket item Kevin Garnett was brought to Brooklyn to contend for titles with head coach Jason Kidd, but it didn’t quite work out that way. •

Garnett is averaging just 8 points and 8.5 rebounds this season.

in his first two years. On the other hand, there is the person who departed under ugly circumstances as a player in 2008 and as coach nearly six years later. “This isn’t the first

time he’s done this to us, Cullen said. “He’ll always have a place in my heart, but I can’t forgive him for this. What he did was terrible. “I don’t like him as a person or a coach, but as a player I think all Nets fans can agree he’s basically everyone’s favorite player. He’s why most [Nets fans] I know are Nets fans. Cullen’s first games were the 2003 Eastern Conference Finals against the Pistons and NBA Finals against the Spurs. Anyone who has seen the Nets over the last week knows they have bigger things to concern themselves with besides Kidd’s return, but Cullen thinks the players will be eager to beat someone who he thinks quit on them.
