Hillary Clinton gets busy in Brooklyn Symbolism. So much to do, so little time — so here’s Metro’s guide to America’s borough.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s decision to open her national campaign headquarters in Brooklyn Heights is rife with symbolism — right down to the address of the building and the name of two adjoining streets near it. Clinton announced her bid for the White House Sunday in an online video. The New York Times’ Mike Grynbaum was
among the first to notice that HQ Hil at One Pierrepont Plaza intersects with Clinton Street, which a block away rounds the bend to become Tillary Street. Metro has found another possible symbol in the names: “Pierrepont” is the name of a powerful New York family that helped build the city and the nation. Hezekiah Beers Pierrepont helped lay out and develop the neighborhood in the early 1800s, when the only way to get to Manhattan was by ferry — the Brooklyn Bridge didn’t open until 1883. But perhaps more important, his descendant, Edwards Pierrepont, a powerful Democrat and judge

“Brooklyn is a snapshot of America,” said Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams. “Its diversity, its struggle and its promise are instructive to any leader seeking to advance our nation, especially someone running for our highest office.”
•
Brooklyn Heights is mostly white and the average income in 2011 was $166,346.
•
When Clinton ran for the White House in 2008, her headquarters were in Arlington, Virginia.
in his day, worked tirelessly in the Civil War era to keep the less perfect union together. He raised money to campaign in crucial border states to keep them on the side of the North, and crossed party lines in the 1860s to back President Abraham Lincoln, a Republican, in his efforts to heal America after the bloody internecine conflict. Forest City Ratner, the company that owns the 659,000-square-foot Brooklyn Heights tower that Clinton has rented two full floors in, declares the building to have “Modern Offices. Brooklyn Cool.”
“I’m probably going to vote for her. I’m kind of bummed there are not that many options. I know it’s early, but it’s kind of concerning to me there’s already been a Clinton, there’s already been numerous Bushes and [there is the] possibility of another Bush. There’s a lot of people that are qualified in the country and it’s amazing that it’s two families.” Michael Newton, 41, Brooklyn

Marty must-dos. Former borough president weighs in Metro asked former Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz for just a few Brooklyn must-do’s for Hillary Clinton, but once you wind up Markowitz on the subject of Brooklyn, there’s no stopping the 70-year-old longtime public servant. Markowitz, by the way, is now vice president of borough promotion and engagement for NYC & Company, the city’s tourism agency.

The Brooklyn Heights Promenade, Brooklyn Bridge Park and Coney Island top his list. “The boardwalk, the rides and, of course, the obligatory frankfurter at Nathan’s, naturally, and the french fries,” Markowitz said of the amusement park. Let’s not forget grub. “We have a billion restaurants in Brooklyn,” he says. “Junior’s would be
a must and I am ready to share a slice of strawberry cheesecake anytime [Clinton] wants.” Markowitz also thinks Hillary would enjoy Noodle Pudding. “It would be an interesting one. It’s in Brooklyn Heights. It’s a Northern Italian restaurant and doesn’t serve noodle pudding,” he says. Clinton should also stop by Roll-N-Roaster,
Smorgasburg and Brennan and Carr, Markowitz said. Some other spots he recommends she check out include Sunset Park, the historic black churches in Bed-Stuy and the Christian Cultural Center in Flatlands. One of his favorite spots, though, is Victorian Flatbush: “‘Sophie’s Choice’ was filmed there. It’s a beautiful area.” JOHN A. OSWALD

Trio sought in Bronx gym beating Police are looking for a group of suspects who beat two people with chairs and sticks after chasing them into a gym last month in the Bronx. The victims, a 21-yearold man and 16-year-old, were in the area of Kings-
bridge Road and East 194 St. around 9 p.m. on March 17 when a mob of seven to nine men and two women began hitting them. The suspects pursued the pair into a Planet Fitness gym, where the three suspects pictured allegedly continued to beat them with sticks and chairs. The victims were treated for head lacerations. Clinton officially in for race to White House Presidential bid. “Hillary 2016” is official. Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state, senator and first lady announced her 2016 bid for president with a YouTube video on Sunday afternoon. In the video, “Getting Started,” Clinton says she wants to be a “champion” for the everyday American. “Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times, but the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top,” Clinton said in the video, which features a diverse cast of characters. The announcement came as reporters set up camp outside her Brooklyn campaign office on
Analysis
De Blasio blasé about Clinton’s announcement An assumed ally, Mayor Bill de Blasio, who managed Clinton’s senate campaign in 2000, told host Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press” on Sunday morning that he’d like to see a candidate with a “clear bold vision for progressive economic change,” and that he’s not ready to endorse a candidate until he sees an “actual vision of where they want to go.”

Sunday, expecting a 12 p.m. announcement that never came. The confusion sparked more than one hashtag on Twitter speculating #WhyHillaryisLate. An email from her campaign chairman, John Podesta, was reportedly
sent to donors and reporters before the video went live. Clinton lost the Democratic bid to President Barack Obama in 2008. Clinton said she’s planning to travel to Iowa this week for campaigning.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams at the memorial where two NYPD officers were shot and killed. MILES DIXON/ METRO
Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams and civil rights attorney Norman Siegel are hosting a town hall meeting Monday evening aimed at strengthening police and community relations. The talk, which starts at 6 p.m. Monday at the New Lots Library, 665 New Lots Ave. in East New York, was planned in response to the shooting death of Walter Scott in North Charleston, South Carolina last week. Dash camera and amateur video show Scott
running from Police Officer Michael Slager, who had pulled him over for a traffic stop. Video then showed Slager shooting Scott. The officer has since been fired and arrested on murder charges. The incident has reignited a national dialogue between police and communities of color. Adams and Siegel teamed up last month to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Selma marches by leading a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. WENDY JOAN BIDDLECOMBE

Pope sparks row with Turkey over genocide remarks

Controversy. Turkey recalls its ambassador to the Vatican after pope calls massacre of Armenians “genocide.” Pope Francis sparked a diplomatic row on Sunday by calling the massacre of up to 1.5 million Armenians 100 years ago “the first genocide of the 20th century,” prompting Turkey to accuse him of inciting hatred. Muslim Turkey accepts that many Christian Armenians died in clashes with Ottoman soldiers beginning in 1915, when Armenia was part of the empire ruled from Istanbul, but denies hundreds of thousands were killed and that this amounted to genocide. At an Armenian rite Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica to mark the 100th anniversary of the mass killings, Francis became the first head of the Roman Catholic Church to publicly pronounce the word “genocide” to describe them. Some European and South American countries
use the term to describe the killings, but the United States and some others, keen to maintain good relations with an important ally, avoid doing so. Turkey was swift to protest. “The pope’s statements, which are far from historical and judicial facts, cannot be accepted,” Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on his Twitter account. “Religious offices are not places to incite hatred and revenge with baseless accusations,” he said. The foreign ministry called its ambassador to the Holy See back to Ankara, and summoned the Vatican’s ambassador, saying Francis’ remarks had caused a “problem of trust” in diplomatic relations. Pope John Paul II and Armenian Apostolic Church Supreme Patriarch Kerekin II called the massacre “the first genocide of the 20th century” in 2001, but that was in a joint written statement. Francis, who has disregarded many aspects of protocol since becoming pope two years ago, uttered the phrase during a private meeting at the Vatican with an Armenian delegation in 2013, prompting a strong protest from Ankara. Kerry says he stands by presentation of nuke deal Iran. The secretary of state defends the agreement on the nuclear deal. Secretary of State John Kerry defended on Sunday his presentation of a framework agreement on Iran’s nuclear program after a different interpretation was offered by Iran’s supreme leader, and a prominent U.S. senator said Kerry was “delusional.” “I will stand by every fact that I have said,” Kerry told ABC’s “This Week.” Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had strong words last week about Iran’s agreement with major world powers, declaring that once a final deal was reached it should result in an immediate end
to all sanctions on Iran. Kerry has said the sanctions would be suspended in phases. “You know, they’re going to put their spin on their point of view, and obviously they’ll allege that we’re putting a spin on our point of view,” Kerry said of the Iranian comments. There were also differing U.S. and Iranian interpretations of a previous interim agreement with Iran, but Iran upheld that agreement, Kerry said. Iran and major world powers — the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China — reached a framework nuclear agreement on April 2 that would curb Iran’s nuclear program and prevent it from being able to develop a bomb, in exchange for the West lifting economic sanctions. Friendly fire
Kerry to address naysayers in Congress Kerry noted that President Barack Obama on Saturday delivered a public rebuke to Republican Sen. John McCain for having called Kerry “delusional” in an interview in which McCain questioned whether Kerry was being forthcoming about the deal. Kerry added that Russia, not a U.S. ally,
had issued a statement saying that the facts about the deal as expressed by the United States were “reliable and accurate information.” Kerry, who will brief Congress on the deal on today and Tuesday, warned lawmakers not to put in place any conditions that would impede implementation of the Iran deal. The framework is meant to be the basis of a final agreement to be reached by the end of June. REUTERS

Two separate bomb attacks targeting security forces in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula killed at least 13 people and wounded dozens on Sunday, the latest in a wave of violence in a region hit by an Islamist insurgency. Egypt’s military said a roadside bomb detonated by militants killed six soldiers and wounded two others in an attack on an armored military
vehicle in the town of Sheikh Zuweid. Two of those killed were officers, it said. The army said in a statement that “terrorist and extremist elements” were behind the blast and that two of those killed were officers. Later Sunday, a car bomb targeting a police station in al-Arish, the capital of the North Sinai governorate, killed at least seven people and wounded 44, medical sources said. REUTERS

Obama meets Raul Castro
President Barack Obama met Cuban President Raul Castro on Saturday in the highest-level talks between the two countries in nearly 60 years, and the two men agreed to push ahead on improving relations after decades of hostility. Describing their private meeting as “historic,” Obama said the two countries can now end the antagonism of the Cold War era, although he said he would continue to pressure the communist-led country on democracy and human rights. They met in Panama, where they both attended a summit of leaders from across the Americas. REUTERS

Boy survives fall into cheetah pen
Hundreds of mourners, including prominent South Carolina politicians, attended the funeral on Saturday of Walter Scott, an AfricanAmerican father of four who was shot in the back while running from a white patrolman. The body of the slain Coast Guard veteran, whose death was filmed by a bystander, was carried in a flag-draped casket past a crowd assembled outside the W.O.R.D. Ministries Christian Center in Summerville, north of North Charleston, where the shooting took place on April 4. Scott’s death reignited a public outcry over police treatment of African-Americans.

(continued on next page) display, but even more so by its ridiculously low price tag of just $99 and shipping after a hundred dollar instant rebate. Better still, that price includes a full year of Free Unlimited Internet – including a Cortex A8 Dual-Core Processor, dual facing cameras and a micro USB port – which makes the all new Android tablet a great choice for seniors, students, professionals and beginners alike. And here’s the best part. The all new 7” Android Senior Simple Tablet comes with the magic of a four or five hundred dollar tablet, but at a $99 price tag that’s a real steal after a hundred dollar instant rebate plus a full year of Free Unlimited Internet. The new Senior Simple Tablet makes it easy to surf the Internet, play games, check weather, news, manage a household, video chat with friends and family, make phone calls, watch movies and TV shows, share pictures from your camera – free from any technology hassles. “So if you’ve felt left out of the big computer party, if you’ve ever felt it was too complicated or expensive, consider the all new Senior Simple Tablet the computer for you. Or, even if you know nothing about computers and just want to give one to your children or grandchildren as a gift, it’s all good,” said O’Neill. To the casual observer, the tablet slugfest has come down to two main combatants: Apple®, with its iPad, and Samsung®, with its Galaxy line. But, the reality is heavyweight Federated Consumer Products, the U.S. based Tech Giant just delivered a knockout blow sending top rated contenders iPad and Samsung to the mat unveiling the World’s only tablet with Free Unlimited Internet. The all new Android Senior Simple Tablet certainly boasts a long list of positives, starting with a sleek handsome design that speaks to the premium quality of Federated Consumer Product’s latest flagship. And the Senior Simple Tablet has a splendid high definition screen (384,000 pixels), robust Cortex A8 Dual-Core Processor and powerful speakers excellent not only for listening to music but also for using the built in cell phone. The New Senior Simple Tablet also has a camera capable of producing fine quality photographs, even when you’re shooting in low light. And a large capacity Photo Gallery for showing off those photos. The migration to tablets is a continuation of an “operating system shift” away from traditional desktop PCs says O’Neill.
O’Neill added that the shift to tablets “marks a significant change in consumer attitudes about computer devices and the applications and ecosystems that power them.” “For many consumers, a tablet is a much simpler and easier solution for core-use cases that were previously addressed by the PC,” O’Neill says. “The PC is the equivalent of the land-line phone,” O’Neill says. “What do you need it for?” The new Android Senior Simple Tablet is one powerful tablet, packed with extraordinary functionality that is extremely easy to use. Thanks to the fast CPU and a massive (384,000) pixel resolution, users can run their most important Apps with virtually no lag time and the Free Unlimited Internet connection
makes it easy to check emails and browse the Internet while on the road. As for specs, the all new Android features Wi-Fi and 4 gigabytes of flash memory, micro SD card slot and Android 4.2 Jellybean. The new Android device is a tablet and a laptop: multiple processor, RAM and storage options intersect with a sleek design that, with a simple swoop and click of the optional keyboard, transform the device from a perfectly balanced tablet to a full-functioning laptop and back again – all in a beautiful package that is sleek and thin. Its new sturdy kickstand and stunning 7-inch display provide the screen real estate and multiple viewing angles people need for work and play. “So many people carry both a
laptop and a tablet but really just need one device that serves all purposes,” said O’Neill. The all new Senior Simple Tablet can replace your laptop – packaging all the functionality of a fully powered laptop into a thin, lightweight and beautifully designed device. You’ll love being able to carry a single device for your next class, workday, or weekend getaway knowing you have all the power you need. Thousands of consumers are expected to call the National Rebate Center to get the new Android Senior Simple Tablet before the 2-day rebate deadline ends. So if lines are busy keep trying, all calls will be answered.

Should conversion Interview. Dr. Michael Friedman explains what you need to know about this practice.
I didn’t survive depression and suicide attempts so I could die from lung cancer. I had to stop smoking. -ARIANA
CIGARETTES ARE MY GREATEST ENEMY
President Barack Obama called for an end to conversion therapy for LGBT youths on Wednesday. Though he did not call for a federal law banning the practice, he did make a statement through his adviser Valerie Jarrett that conversion therapy is “neither medically nor ethically appropriate and can cause substantial harm.” We talked to Dr. Michael Friedman, Ph.D., about how conversion therapy is administered and what President Obama’s statement means for LGBT youths. Can you tell me more about conversion therapy? Everything about gay conversion therapy is based
on a false premise. It starts off with the false premise that there’s something wrong with being gay, bi or trans, and that’s probably the most powerful message of this treatment. There was a time where being gay was considered a mental disorder, and this was decades ago, but that premise that there’s something wrong with LGBT is false. There’s no evidence that there’s anything wrong with being LGBT — there’s no psychological or medical problem. Secondly, there’s no evidence that sexuality is a choice or something that can be changed. And the third false is most profound: There’s absolutely no evidence that this works. There’s none that’s been presented in front of respected research institutions — it would be rejected by most ethics boards. There are false premises and a false promise. Everything about this approach is based on a lie. What is true, though, is that this approach — both the

philosophy and practice — is something that is very much akin to other forms of discrimination and bullying that LGBT people face. They’re showing that there’s something wrong with being LGBT and that it’s a choice. These are all different aspects of discrimination. It’s basically bullying masquerading as

There are parents and medical organizations and other organizations that support this kind of treatment that are all basically doing to children what everyday schoolyard bullies do to make them feel bad about being LGBT and in some cases, subjecting them to horrible things. So we’ve talked about the premise — what is the practice? It can vary. Historically there was a premise that there’s a problem — it’s one of the common psychoanalytic theories — that a gay person had an overbearing mother and distant father. If that were the case, everybody would be gay. So there were theories that hadn’t been proven. They’d use psychoanalytic therapy to uncover the conflict that is somehow leading you to be LGBT; it could be that kind of therapy. There’s aversion therapy, where you try to pair same-sex images with something
Consequences
What do you think the impact will be? I’m hoping it will be on multiple levels. There are millions of LGBT kids and adults out there who have been told there’s something wrong with them. I hope this at the very least is a powerful statement from the president of the United States saying there’s nothing wrong with you; you don’t need to change; you’re good the way you are. That in and of itself is an incredibly powerful
that’s physically not pleasurable or disgusting. There’s the “pray your gay away” approach with ongoing counseling. There’s a range of different practices that might be used; some may not seem harmful except when you go to
and important message. That’s huge – that’s not been said before by a sitting president. I think he’s also bringing to light that every major organization condemns this practice and the more people hear that, the more they’re like, “Oh, it’s not just the president giving his belief; let’s look into it; there’s no evidence of this. It’s not a mental health disorder.” I think that’s a powerful message to LGBT people and nonLGBT people that this is a charade and the light is being shined on it.

They’re bringing baby back … from the hospital. / ALL PHOTOS GETTY IMAGES
The Timber-baby has cometh Glad tidings to the BielTimberlake household, as Jessica Biel gave birth to her and husband Justin Timberlake’s first baby — a boy — late last week, according to People magazine. The new parents are “ecstatic” about the new arrival, named Silas Randall Timberlake — which, as celebrity baby names go, is pretty damn reasonable. The couple reportedly kept the sex of the baby a surprise until the actual arrival,
which is adorable but must’ve made shopping for baby shower gifts a nightmare. Last we heard from Timberlake was at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 29, when he offered a message straight to Biel from the stage: “I can’t wait to see our greatest creation yet,” he said while accepting the Innovator Award. “Daddy’s heading home right now to innovate by learning how to change a poopy diaper and get my swaddle on.”
dent during which Bieber and one of his bodyguards allegedly attacked a photographer while the “Baby” singer was leaving a nightclub. Another judge had ordered Bieber to appear for questioning about it back in November, he apparently didn’t get the message. So wait, how many countries is Bieber not allowed back to anymore at this point?

Even Argentina has its limits.
Blake Lively’s baby does not have three godmothers
So that story about how Blake Lively had named all three of her “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” co-stars as godmothers for her new daughter, James? Yeah, not so much. “I never named them my godmothers. They’re my dear friends. I would say my baby has a lot of fairy godmothers,” she clarifies to E! News. Also worth noting: Fairy godmotherhood is not legally binding. Yet. But give it time.
A SISTERHOOD HAS ITS LIMITS.

WINTER IS BACK: ‘GAME OF THRONES’ RETURNS “Thrones” on the Web
As the editor-in-chief for Winter Is Coming, Dan Selcke spends his time writing about the latest “Game of Thrones” news and preparing for the long night that will have no end. Read more of him at Winteriscoming.net.
Jon Snow is spending some quality time with Stannis Baratheon. / HELEN SLOAN, HBO
At last, the fifth season of “Game of Thrones” is upon us. The opening episode, “The Wars to Come,” finds the characters picking up the pieces after Season 4’s finale. It looks like this season will be a bit slower and more contemplative than last year, but it’ll still pack in plenty of the textured storytelling that has made the show a hit.
Episode MVPs
After killing his father and lover at the end of last season, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) has gone into exile. The guy has hit rock bottom, and Dinklage has a great time scowling, drinking and snarking his way through his scenes. Dinklage has always been one of the show’s best assets, and his take on the new, more dour Tyrion is already a highlight. Meanwhile, at the Wall, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) is dealing with the arrival of Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) and his hangerson. For the first time in a while, the Wall isn’t in danger of attack, so there’s room to just let these personalities bounce off each other. Further east, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) is trying to manage local
unrest in Meereen, her new base of operations. While past seasons had her marching from place to place, freeing slaves and siccing her dragons on the unwary, her new story looks like a slow burner.
Questions for next week “The Wars to Come” was stuffed with story, but Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) sat it out. We’ll have to wait to find out what happened to everyone’s favorite revengebent moppet after she boarded that boat to Braavos. It’ll also be interesting to see whether Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) can keep the Seven Kingdoms running smoothly now that her father is dead. She’s got a short fuse and holds onto grudges like they’re old
Remakes
In other news Those who still can’t get enough “Game of Thrones” may be happy to hear there’s an Indian remake coming called “Rani Mahal.” Producers have already cast the Indian equivalents of Jon Snow, Cersei and Daenerys, and they hope to air the series later this year.
friends, so smart money is on no. Finally, I’m eager to see the show make good on this episode’s promise that Tyrion will meet up with Daenerys. “Game of Thrones” often keeps its various plotlines on parallel tracks, so the prospect of two big ones crossing is very exciting.

“Fraction Of An Inch” Success And Failure With Popular Vital Information All Knee Arthritis Sufferers ANY treatment. EVER. In fact - if you do start hearing over-the-top, exaggerated claims like: “cure for knee arthritis” or “eliminates all pain” or “works for everyone” you should run like heck. But the fact of the matter is: If you qualify for the treatment you are about to discover, there is a good chance you may be able to relieve some or much of your pain. I know because thousands of knee arthritis sufferers... just like you... have already found the relief you are looking for. And even better - this might work for you if your pain is new... or if you have advanced knee arthritis that has made it difficult to even walk. Here’s The Treatment And The Embarrassing Moment The treatment is called viscosupplemtation. If you have not heard of this treatment - I will explain how it might help you in just a moment. If you have heard of it - or even had this treatment without good results - this information is a “must read.”
Advanced Knee Arthritis Treatment Offers New Hope For Pain Sufferers In New York City
Nothing Spreads The Word Like Caring Doctors and Results - Knee arthritis sufferers have swarmed the OsteoRelief Center in Manhattan, NYC and Norhtern New j Jersey ever since word got out of their advanced medical procedure for knee arthritis
This all sounds great - in theory. But there is a BIG problem with this treatment. Allow Me To Explain... While doing research on this treatment, I traveled to a medical clinic in Northern N.J. right outside NYC (they now have clinics in mid town and downtown).. This clinic had an excellent reputation and I got to speak not only with doctors but with several patients who ranted and raved about the results. Many said they had tried countless other treatments Here is why: When you in the past... including have arthritis, one of the things viscosupplementation... but that happens is the lubricating nothing worked until they had fluid in your joints deceases. viscosupplemtation at this This causes joint surfaces to clinic. rub, then grind against each I was skeptical, so I asked other which causes swelling one of the doctors why. PRECISE. In other words, the doctor must be very accurate and actually get the lubricating fluid precisely into the arthritic joint space or the treatment will be rendered useless. Many doctors do not want to admit it - but it is very easy to miss the joint space and alter the treatment results. In fact, research shows that doctors doing these types of joint procedures without advanced imaging may miss the joint space as much as 30% of the time.
Technology To The Rescue Thankfully technology is solving this problem. How? It’s making doctors much more accurate and this treatment much more effective. Advanced imaging is now available that allows doctors to actually see directly into the joint space and watch the treatment. Doctors can see, or check, if the lubricating fluid goes directly into the joint space - or misses. The doctor knows if the applied treatment has been a success... or failure... INSTANTLY.

By Matt Edgar-Health Writer Manhattan - In just a moment I’m going to tell you about a very “candid” and somewhat embarrassing moment I had with a doctor. A moment most doctors would not want you to know about. As I reveal what happened in that moment - it will become clear to you not only why this doctor has so much success treating knee arthritis pain... but you will also discover a possible way to relieve some or all of your pain, too. But before I tell you all that - let me ask you this: How would you like to finally have a real medical solution for your knee arthritis pain? Not some scam sold on an infomercial or the internet. A real medical treatment that has already worked for countless people just like you and is covered by most insurance and medicare? Can you imagine what it would feel like to be able to eliminate enough of your pain and stiffness so you can get out of bed without pain and go for walks and even do things like play golf or tennis? How relieved would you be if you felt so much better that you no longer needed to go through total knee replacement surgery and all the grueling rehabilitation? Sounds Too Good To Be True? I’m glad we agree. It does sound too good to be true. That’s because all patients react differently and get different results from real medical treatments. That’s also why no ethical doctor would promise or guarantee ANY results... for

contract killer in “Kill Me Three Times.” My favorite description of Australia is “the most beautiful place in the world that’s always trying to kill you.” Agree or disagree? [Laughs] I didn’t suffer any attacks when I was there, but yeah, there’s quite a lot of deadly stuff there. We were aware that there has been a couple of fatal shark attacks on the coast where we were going to shoot a couple of surfing scenes, where Alice [Braga] and Luke [Hemsworth] were going in. So I was a little worried for them, but there was, thankfully, no assault on our lives. Luke is the older brother of Chris and Liam Hemsworth. Exactly how many Hemsworths are there out there, and how do we stop them? I don’t know. I feel like they multiply, but I think Luke is probably the brood mother of them all. He spawned the other Hemsworths, and who knows how many there are? I don’t know. Luke was very vague about the amount of Hemsworths there are in the world. [Laughs] No, Luke is super-cool. And it’s sweet when he talks about his brothers. He’s obviously very proud of them and protective of them, and he’s clearly the biggest of the three — albeit the stockiest, not the tallest.

How was it being one of the only non-Australian outsiders in this? It was good. I mean, it felt kind of important to us that Charlie was a strange invader. He’s a very incongruous figure in the film. He’s incredibly conspicuous, and he doesn’t really try not to be. He drives a f—ing huge car, and he wears a black suit and dresses like he thinks a hitman should dress. New app helps overly stressed college students Freaking out over finals? Here’s a new way to find a sympathetic ear to turn to. MEGHAN POOLE @metronewyork letters@metro.us
For many students, this time of year is filled with stress and anxiety as they start preparing for finals and lining up their summer plans. While it helps to know that you aren’t alone, it’s important to take control of your stress. Psychologist Glen
Moriarty believes that college students are more stressed-out today than they were just a few years ago. “There is less support for us today, and we aren’t as close as we all used to be,” he explains. To help, Moriarty has created 7 Cups of Tea, a new app that offers emotional support by connecting people with listeners online. The way the free app works is that it connects users with listeners from 150 countries who are willing to help. We asked Moriarty for some tips for dealing with the stresses of college life:
Talk it out
Simply being able to talk to someone can be helpful when dealing with stress or anxiety. This, he says, was the driving force behind 7 Cups of Tea. He believes in the importance of having somewhere to turn when people need to talk. Whether that person is a trained psychologist, a friend or simply anyone who will listen, it will help reduce stress.

How to identify a high-impact internship Don’t waste your summers, find a great position instead. MOLLY CONGDON @metronewyork

Create a career story
Internships are not easy, especially if you end up spending most of your summer doing grunt work. That’s why Eric Woodard — the author of “The Ultimate Guide to Internships: 100 Steps to Get a Great Internship and Thrive in It” — says students need
“You have to build career capital,” Woodard says. “There’s a difference between someone who has a résumé that’s all over the place and someone who crafted a story. You want to find an internship that contributes to that story.”
Mentorship “Study after study shows that mentorship is key,” Woodard says. “You’re almost better off finding the not-so-great internship that’s at Bob’s Tackle Shop — not the shiniest — but if Bob is the best mentor in the world, that’s better than doing an internship at a more impressive company.”
Be Yourself “If you are really genuine in your application, very good internship hosts are going to be attracted to that,” Woodard says. “For example,

to stand out, Woodard says. “If you do that, you’ll find that the good internships are the ones that are going to notice that you’re being remarkable.
Take risks Don’t do everything by the book. “Lots of internships out there are looking for a carbon copy. They take the same students in the same way, Woodard says. “The way to attract good intern-
ships is to take risks.
Collect those contacts “When I first started as an intern, one of the first things that someone gave me was one of those old Rolodexes, and I have three or four thousand contacts now — some of them I met 15 years ago, Woodard says. “Building those contacts from the beginning is really important when trying to find jobs.

If you’ve been reluctant to broach salary with your boss, this is your time to shine! That’s because tomorrow is Equal Pay Day. Originating in 1996 as a public awareness event to showcase the gap between men’s and women’s wages, Tuesday was selected to represent how far into the new workweek women must work to earn the total that men earned by the end of the previous week. Sigh. According to an American Association for University Women (AAUW) report, in 2013 American women earned 78 cents compared to a dollar earned by men for full-time workers. Here are some ways to shrink the gap and ask for the bank you deserve:

How to play Fill in the grid so that every row, every column and every 3x3 box contains the digits 1-9. There is no math involved. You solve the puzzle with reasoning and logic.
Harsh penalties, not death, for criminals There should never be any death penalty, not even for Tsarnaev — it’s too damn good! Instead all felons, not just killers, should become slaves to pay society back: 1) Work like dogs on chain gangs doing jobs we all both need and hate, like separating recyclables from garbage. 2) Give blood regularly to save lives — also half the liver, which grows back. 3) Be guinea pigs for all medical research, thus eliminating all animal testing (how’s that, PETA?) and getting new medicines to market 10 years sooner.
4) Have their wills suspended or rescinded — if they die in prison, everything goes to victims first, the state second and all organs go to those who need them. If all this were law, imagine the deterrent effect! J. ANDREW SMITH
Forgotten historical milestone The Civil War ended on April 9, 1865. President Abraham Lincoln died on April 15. How disappointing that most media failed to report on the 150th anniversary of both. PBS missed a great opportunity to rerun Ken Burns’ excellent series on the Civil War. No wonder many have no sense of history for our great nation. LARRY PENNER, VIA EMAIL

Quest for the Cup begins NHL. The Stanley Cup Playoffs kick off this week with the Isles and Rangers firmly in the mix. What a finish. The final week, days and even hours of the 2014-15 NHL regular season were drama-filled as teams jockeyed for playoff positioning, division titles and their postseason lives in a thrilling completion. The league can only hope the playoffs will provide as much excitement over the next two months as the Stanley Cup playoffs open this week. As first-round games begin on Wednesday, there is only one sure thing to expect — there will be a new champion. The Kings failed to qualify and left the door wide open for a new team to take the throne.
Teams full of surprises In the Eastern Conference, it’s the Ottawa Senators who could pull off some upsets. The Sens have gone 22-4-4 since Feb. 10 and gained entry on the final day of the season on Saturday. Behind goalie Andrew “the Hamburglar” Hammond, the Senators are the hottest team entering the playoffs and the squad that no team in either league would elect to face in the opening round. The Canadiens will no doubt have their hands full. In the Western Conference, it’s the Minnesota Wild who have also rid-

den their goalie to a sizzling finish. Devan Dubnyk, who was acquired in January, went 27-9-2 with the Wild, who recorded a first-round upset last year, and the team has gone 13-6-1 since the start of March to sky-rocket up the standings to the first wild card. They face the Blues beginning Thursday night.

Don’t sleep on Price, as the Montreal netminder had a career year and led the NHL in wins, goals against and save percentage. He’ll be especially tough to beat in a seven game series but we like the Blackhawks’ chances of doing so. Chicago captain Jonathan Toews will lift Lord Stanley’s Cup as the Blackhawks beat the Habs in seven and win their third title in six years.

MARK BOROWIECKI AND THE SENATORS WILL MEET THE CANADIENS IN THE FIRST ROUND.
The Blackhawks will get a major boost when Patrick Kane returns. The Wild will test Kane and Chicago, but the depth of the ’Hawks depth up top will be too much for Minnesota in a long series. In the East, look for the Canadiens to outlast the Rangers in seven games in the conference finals as Carey Price outduels Henrik Lundqvist in a low-scoring series.

Stop with the lame excuses. On Saturday, Major League Baseball announced that Mets closer Jenrry Mejia would be suspended 80 games after testing positive for the steroid Stanozolol. Mejia issued a statement through the player’s union saying: “I know the rules are the rules, and I will accept my punishment, but I can honestly say I have no idea how a banned substance ended up in my system.” Mejia went on to add, “I have been through a lot in my young career and missed time due to injury. I have worked way too hard to come back and get to where I am, so I would never knowingly put anything in my body that I thought could hold me out further. I am sorry to the Mets organization, my teammates and the fans, as well as my family.” Not only was Mejia on the DL with elbow tightness, but now the closer is out until July and is not eligible for the postseason, if there is one for the Mets. I am sure that Mejia feels bad that he got caught. But the idea that he never knowingly put a steroid in his system is

just plain stupid. There is too much money to be made in professional sports to not realize that some players are going to look for an edge. Mejia is a relief pitcher who is still looking to establish himself as a reliable closer. He knows exactly what he puts in his body day in and day out. Simply said: His body and his arm are his career. He is not the first nor the last who will use this defense, of course. Red
Sox slugger David Ortiz defended his reputation on The Players Tribune website last month by saying, “I never knowingly took any steroids.” Ortiz tested positive all the way back in 2003 during preliminary drug testing. I love baseball and I fully understand the popularity of the sport was rebuilt on the backs of steroid users in the late ’90s. With that being said, own it if you do it. Don’t rationalize or tell me that you had no idea. Mejia had Stanozolol in his system and it did not just show up on its own. It was not slipped to you. You “knowingly” decided to do it. Own it. If I choose to not go to the gym and eat like every day is Thanksgiving, then I will be fat. That is my choice and I will own it, for better or worse moving forward. The suspension will cost Mejia $1.1 million and his reputation is toast. He decided to cut a corner and he got caught. He leaves the Mets with a hole in their bullpen that they now have to find an answer for. That is what I know after Mejia “unknowingly” did what he did.
News you need to know Colon beats Braves with arm, bat The Mets picked up a 4-3 win over the Braves Sunday in Atlanta, thanks to the pitching and hitting heroics of Bartolo Colon. Not only did Colon pitch a fine seven innings, allowing just three runs on six hits while striking out five, he also registered his first RBI since 2005 with a single to shallow right that brought home Wilmer Flores. Michael Cuddyer also did his part in the win as he hit a two-run homer. The Mets’ home opener is today against Philly (1 p.m., SNY). MATT BURKE
