Mayor Marty Walsh defends Obama immigration reform Legislation. Nearly 65,000 people in the Boston area would be affected by the plan. Mayor Marty Walsh, immigrants rights groups and local business leaders called upon Congress to pass legislative reform in support of President Barack Obama’s executive action on immigration. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA) would help an estimated five million immigrants and children of immigrants remain in the U.S. DACA would apply to people under the age of 31 who came to the U.S. illegally, were under the age of 16 and have lived in the states ever since and pose no threat to the public. DAPA would grant deferred action status to undocumented immigrants who have lived in the U.S. since 2010 and have children who are American citizens. These measures would impact about 65,000 people living in the Boston area. Twenty-seven percent of the people living in Boston are from foreign soils, and 47 percent of students in the Boston Public School system have at least one parent from a different country. As the son of an immigrant parent, Walsh said he felt compelled to help new arrivers to Boston. “I want to make it clear that Boston welcomes and supports immigrants; Boston

is a city of immigrants, and a city that’s made stronger by immigrants,” Walsh said. “A complete federal legislative solution on immigration has taken too long and the need is too great. I support President Obama’s executive actions and I call on the courts to lift this order and let these sensible actions be implemented.” According to a study by the Center for American Progress, the DACA/DAPA programs could boost wages

for eligible immigrants by $103 billion, as well as drive a $230 billion increase in the nation’s gross domestic product over the next 10 years. The Council of Economic Advisers also released a study that said executive action would increase Massachusetts’ GDP by an estimated $2.4 to $5.6 billion over the next decade. “President Obama’s executive immigration actions are a critical first step to helping end the deportations, which

tear families and loved ones apart, while costing our economy billions of dollars. We will continue working every day to help pass a permanent legislative solution to finally fix our country’s terribly broken immigration system,” said Todd Shulte, president of FWD.us. The Mayor’s Office of New Bostonians has launched a “Know the Facts” campaign to make sure the city’s residents are aware of their eligibility for these actions. On May 30, the Office of New Bostonians will host a clinic on eligibility at the Umana Academy in East Boston. Legal Services and other partners will be on hand to give free one-on-one consultations. “As an 11-year-old child, I had little comprehension of the challenges that awaited us when my family and I arrived in the United States,” Cesar Boc, an aspiring lawyer and a 2012 DACA recipient said. “DACA has made a considerable difference in my life since I now have a job, a driver’s license, and do not have a fear of deportation.” On Tuesday afternoon, a federal appeals court refused to lift a temporary injunction against Obama’s executive action. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued a 2-1 ruling against an appeal by the Department of Justice. Twenty-six states filed a lawsuit against the executive order, calling it unconstitutional. Sex crime. Allston man charged in series of Brighton gropings An Allston man was held on $50,000 for four different sexual assaults committed in the Brighton area at his Tuesday arraignment following his arrest on Friday. Steven Lent, 26, was arraigned in Brighton Municipal Court in connection to four sexual assaults committed in the Brighton area on August 14, 2014 and May 4. The next court date is set for July 14.

He was charged with indecent assault and battery and rape for a sexual assault that occurred on August 14 on Quint Avenue, as well as three counts of sexual assault that took place on Brighton Avenue on August 14 and on Chester Street and Commonwealth Avenue on May 4. Three women reported being groped by a male suspect who then fled the area after

the assaults. The first incident happened around 5:23 p.m. near Chester Street. The victim said she felt the suspect approached her from behind and attempted to lift her dress. The victim then spun around and hit the suspect and chased him until he got away. The second incident took place near 855 Commonwealth Avenue when a suspect approached the victim from

behind, lifted her skirt and fled toward the Agganis Arena. The third assault took place on the B.U. Bridge. The BUPD also said that an unspecified number of similar assaults were reported over that weekend in the Linden Street, Ashford Street and Pratt Street area. Lent will return to court on July 14. Maryland murder cold case may have Massachusetts ties New evidence in a cold case suggests an unidentified woman murdered in Maryland may have been in Boston prior to her death, authorities said. The woman’s body was discovered in Lorraine Park

Cemetery in Baltimore County, Maryland, in 1976. Baltimore County Police recently identified pollen native to Northeastern urban areas, specifically Boston and New York City, on the victim.

The woman, who was between 15 and 25, was beaten, sexually assaulted and strangled. She was wrapped in a sheet, her hands tied behind her back, a handkerchief covered her face and a cloth bag was placed over her head. The bag covering her, and the cloth used as a gag were lawn seed bags from the Massachusetts Farm Bureau

Association, and were only sold in Waltham, Rochdale, Lowell, South Weymouth and Greenfield. A house key found on her was made in Fitchburg. Last year, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children featured the woman on its website. Anyone with information is asked to call them at 1-800-THE-LOST. NATE HOMAN

What dirty water? Take that, beaches. Southie beaches are cleaner than Miami Beach, according to the annual Boston Harbor Region Beach Quality Report Card. Southie beaches are cleaner than major urban beaches in five U.S. cities from the East Coast to Hawaii, including Miami Beach, according to a study released Monday by the Bostonbased group Save the Harbor/ Save the Bay released . “We should be proud of the fact that we have such clean water, said Bruce Berman of Save the Harbor/Save the Bay, who led the study comparing water quality tests over the past three years. scored beaches around Virginia Beach, Coney Island Beach in New York City, Santa Monica Beach in California, Waikiki Beach in Honolulu and Miami Beach. “We didn’t cherry-pick these beaches. We didn’t have to, Berman told the News Service. All of the beaches are near urban areas and are affected by stormwater discharge. The study used data measuring the presence of an infection-causing bacteria that is present in feces. Beaches were rated based on the amount of time bacteria was at safe levels. Miami Beach scored about 97 percent, which is nearly the same as Waikiki and Virginia Beach. South Boston’s beaches collectively scored 99.4 percent over three years and never exceeded the maximum bacterial count during last year’s dry summer. Overall, Boston Harbor area beaches from Nahant to Hull have improved from 90 percent safety in 2011 to 96 percent safety in 2014, the report card found. SHNS

Recovery. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has declared a state of disaster in 24 Texas counties. Torrential rains have killed at least 10 people in Texas and Oklahoma, including two in Houston where floods turned streets into rivers and led to about 1,000 calls for help in the fourth-most populous U.S. city, officials said. The death toll is set to rise with numerous people missing in Texas after the storms slammed the states during the Memorial Day weekend, causing record floods that destroyed hundreds of homes and swept away bridges. “There are still some significant areas of really devastating flooding in Houston,” Mayor Annise Parker said at a news conference, adding most of Houston is high and dry but advised people to stay home. The Houston Fire Department brought about 500 people to safety in boats, local media reports said. President Barack Obama said on Tuesday he had assured Texas Gov. Greg Abbott that he could count on help from the federal government as the state recovers from the floods. Abbott said he has deployed the state’s National Guard and was worried the death toll could rise. “We still have countless people who are missing,” he told cable news station CNN. another 30 are unaccounted for due to flooding that hit along the Blanco River in central Texas, county officials said. The missing were from two families whose vacation home was swept off its foundation in Wimberley, a town

about 30 miles southwest of Austin. Search dogs and boats were being used to search for the missing. The river rose so quickly and with such force that it caused a flood gauge to break, Hayes County officials said. One of those killed was an 18-year-old girl whose car was swept away by flood waters as she returned home from her high school prom, police in Devine, Texas, south of San Antonio, said. REUTERS

NBA playoffs

Fans stranded after game Fans were stranded for seven hours after a Houston Rockets playoff game because of dangerous floods outside. Just before the end of the Rockets’ win over the Golden State Warriors in Monday’s

NBA Western Conference finals, a message on the scoreboard told fans to stay put. The team tweeted: “Toyota Center is advising fans to stay in seats after game due to severe weather outside. Be safe.” Some left, but hundreds chose not to take the risk, according to NBC affiliate KPRC.

Those who played it safe got a surprise visit from Rockets center Dwight Howard, who told the Houston Chronicle that he wasn’t going to take his chances on the roads, either. Arena staff provided their unexpected overnight guests with coffee, bagels, cinnamon rolls and places to charge their phones. METRO

Johnny Depp’s Down Under dog troubles

Johnny Depp is back in the U.S. this week after getting into hot water in Australia for smuggling his two pet Yorkshire terriers into the country on his private plane, violating quarantine laws. But authorities in the lower hemisphere aren’t done with him just yet. If the case goes to court and Depp is found guilty,

he could face up to 10 years in prison and a $265,000 fine, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. “If we start letting movie stars — even though they’ve been the Sexiest Man Alive twice — come into our nation [and break the laws], then why don’t we just break the laws for everybody?” Australian Minister of Agriculture Barnaby Joyce says. And you know what? He raises some very good questions, but is he suggesting that Australia isn’t already a completely lawless, anarchic free-for-all? Because if so I’ve been sorely misled. Also, shouldn’t Depp have those Sexiest Man Alive titles stripped now, one for each Yorkie?

Trouble in Affleck-Garner land? Ben Affleck and wife Jennifer Garner haven’t been seen in public together for more than a month, which wouldn’t be that big of a deal for two working actors, except their last co-appearance came just after Affleck was spotted sans wedding ring — on Garner’s birthday. Which is not a good look for a husband. Naturally, Radar Online smells blood in the water and is reporting that the two are “leading sepa-

rate lives.” Cue the dramatic music. “Ben is in the grips of a midlife crisis,” a source told the National Enquirer earlier this month. “The bottom line is that Jen can’t trust Ben. It’s a vicious cycle. He’ll screw up then he’ll get it together, but then it’s only a matter of time before he’s back to bad behavior.” Personally, I blame the ridiculously long “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” production schedule.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers swears he’s sober again

Jonathan Rhys Meyers has been worrying fans after being snapped stumbling around London guzzling a bottle of vodka and then missing the Cannes premiere of his film “Damascus Cover,” but he wants everyone to know there’s nothing to worry about. And he conveyed that message clearly in the most direct route: via his fiancée’s Instagram account. “I apologize for having a minor relapse and hope that people don’t think too badly of me,” Meyers, who has been to rehab three times, wrote. “I stopped drinking immediately and it is no reflection on ‘Damascus Cover,’ as I was not meant to attend Cannes this year and I apologize to fans and colleagues. I am on the mend and thank well-wishers and sorry for my disheveled appearance, as I was on my way

The hardest part of Taylor Swift’s life

Taylor Swift doesn’t want your pity, OK? “Sometimes I really don’t think it’s that hard at all,” she says of life on tour. “When I was starting out I’d go on tour for three months and I was gone for three months. Now almost 10 years in, thank God we get to play bigger shows so I don’t have to play as many. If we’re playing stadiums, I’ll do two or three a week, not five shows a week, then I get to fly home in between. It’s not that bad.” Sure, but there must be something about her current world tour that’s bringing her down, right? “I do have to leave the cats behind when I leave the country, which is the hardest part.” You listening, Johnny Depp? We all have to make sacrifices.

Zoe Kravitz: ‘I like making art’ Interview. The actress-musician talks “Good Kill” and aging out of high school movies. Zoe Kravitz’s father is Lenny Kravitz, a musician, and her mother is Lisa Bonet, an actress. Their daughter does both. In between recording music with her band Lolawolf, she divides her acting between blockbusters (“Divergent”) and smaller films, such as the new drama “Good Kill,” in which she plays a drone pilot opposite Ethan Hawke. You’ve said you don’t like to talk politics. What drew you to this subject? I’m very honest about it. I’m not claiming to be a politician; I’m not claiming to have the answers. Basically, I did this movie to open my eyes to how ignorant I am about the drone program. I had never taken the time to research it or knew much about it. That means there are other people who don’t know about it, and that doesn’t make them stupid either. I wanted to help get that information out there. You seem to be finally, at 26, breaking out of high school roles. I look very young. I get carded and I’ll show a passport and people are still like, “Come on.” It’s a passport — what, do you think I’m Jason Bourne? I think I’m finally starting to

look my own age, which is great because I am very tired of playing high school students. You’ve been working on your own projects, which must help you get the right parts. Roles that are written for women that are funny, young, half-black [laughs] — people don’t always have those specific niches in mind.

It’s a little bit better. It’s still a slow process. This is the most racist industry in the world. It’s crazy what they’re able to do and how short-sighted people can be. It is changing more and more. I’m just trying to help it along. MATT PRIGGE @mattprigge

Do you think it’s improving? One more thing

Doing it all You’ve jumped back and forth between movies and music. The idea of working in different art forms simultaneously still seems somehow like a new idea. Maybe 10 years ago it was rare, but 50 years ago you had to be a triple threat to

make it in this industry. You look at Gene Kelly or Judy Garland — you had to be able to sing, dance and act. You had to do all three. It’s funny that people have been boxed now into doing just one. A performer is a performer. It’s a spirit you have. I have a performer’s spirit. I like to do all things perfor-

mance. I like to dance, I like to sing, I like to act. I like to do it all. I think it makes so much more sense to do more than one.

So you don’t worry much when hopping between music and movies? My brain doesn’t separate the two. I like making art.

How to have fun after an apocalypse Review. The A.R.T.’s all-singing, all-dancing vision of the world after the flood is worth your time. Climate change has caused the end of the world at the American Repertory Theater and the result is a delightful vaudevillian-style musical, “The Last Two People on Earth: An Apocalyptic Vaudeville. The two stars, Mandy Patinkin and Taylor Mac, begin their story, post-apocalypse, as Mac’s lifeboat lands on Patinkin’s island. Trailing plants work really well on a shelf

Don’t have a ton of light, but still crave greenery?

“It creates such a nice waterfall effect and you take advantage of the height of the shelves,” says Muñoz. She used a pothos plant in this brownstone bathroom. Another takeaway: Some plants — like humidity-loving ferns — work especially well in a bathroom.

Muñoz says your best bet is a ZZ (pictured on the right of the mantel) or snake plant (on the side tables). “Snake plants are super versatile,” says the expert. “They’re actually all over tropical regions but you can also throw it in a closet and forget about it and it will still be alive months later.”

Don’t let your lack of surface space stop you from peppering your home with houseplants. Muñoz says some plants work well with bright light and heat and can be placed right on top of a radiator. In this room she used an aloe plant, a pencil cactus and a dracaena reflexa. The trick: “Any plant I put on a radiator, I put a little cork plate underneath,” she says, adding, “in the winter you just want to check the soil a little more frequently to make sure it’s not super dry.”

Forget Scandinavian design — when it comes to décor, these days plants are all the rage. But you can’t just go buy any ol’ plant and plop it down in its flimsy plastic container and expect it to

transform your place. There’s way more thought put into those gorgeous bohemian dens or chic minimalist lofts you stalk on Pinterest. The plants in those homes have probably been curated by an expert, which is why we hit up Brooklynbased plant designer Lisa Muñoz of LeafandJune.com. The certified horticulturist and self-proclaimed “plant lady” shares some of her best styling tips.

“Corners are great for a splash of green.” Muñoz recommends creating a grouping and experimenting with various heights of plants and planters. In this group, she used a birds nest fern (“which unlike a lot of ferns likes bright light”) and a fiddle leaf fig. “It’s a really nice statement piece,” she says. Muñoz also placed a watermelon peperomia on a vintage stool. She loves scouring flea markets for old items to use as stands.

Can’t find decent flowers at your local bogeda? Try philodendron leaves. “It’s a nice way of adding an accent without having a potted plant or cut flowers that only last a few days,” says Muñoz. She says these should last about 7-10 days.

Is Allston ready for luxury housing? The new Continuum building indicates it might be. LISA WEIDENFELD @LisaWeidenfeld lisa.weidenfeld@metro.us

For many people, Allston brings to mind a sea of college students, since it’s long been the home of choice for generations of Boston University students. But that reputation may be slowly changing, with new luxury apartments going in. The new Continuum building, located at 199 North Harvard St., is accepting applications now, with about half of the units scheduled to open in August and the remaining half in November. “It’s really the same building you would find in down-

town Boston, but at a slightly more advantaged pricing point,” says Leslie Cohen, executive vice president of development and a principal at Samuels & Associates, which owns the building. She’s referring to the “first class” amenities available there, which include a 24-hour concierge, a fitness center, a game room, a cyber lounge, a common kitchen area that can be reserved for parties and a roof deck. There’s also planned retail space, as fits a mixed-use building like this. As to who will occupy the retail space, Cohen says they haven’t solidified plans yet, but “we have one smaller anchor space, so we’re in discussions with a number of grocers. And then we’re looking for a number of locally grown restaurants, people who have one or two restaurants in the

Getting into specifics The building is about 60 percent studios and one bedrooms, and 40 percent two bedrooms and three bedrooms. The studios start at $2500 a month, while the one bedrooms start in the low $3000s. And for the chefs of the world, pretty much every kitchen has an island. “We’re finding that the kitchen island often serves not only as dinner and breakfast table, but becomes the office and desk, and the place where everybody congregates,” explains Cohen.

area who are looking to expand. And then the rest will fill in with services that are needed in this part of Allston.” And the all important question that has to be answered, after last winter’s snowstorms to end all snowstorms? “There’s a parking garage below the building,” confirms Cohen. “There’s about 200 spaces of parking. In addition, with this project, we’re actually creating two new roadways,

so there’s on-street parking as well.” Those spaces will be standard short-term, two-hour parking not reserved for the residents, so anyone interested in either visiting the adjacent Smith Field or the incoming restaurants can grab a spot. It’s all a big change from what has long been expected from the area, but Cohen thinks it’s a natural progression. “Allston is very much a

changing community. I think the demographics are changing there. We’ve seen in lots of different neighborhoods that creating a dense central space and really putting feet on the street more hours of the day creates a vibrancy, so I think this is the beginning of what’s coming in Allston.” As to the question of what the current tenants think of all this, Cohen says it’s been an ongoing conversation. “This is

a community that would like to see things happen with the real estate in the area and see it be productive and see it be an amenity for the neighborhood. When we started the process, we immediately jumped into neighborhood conversations and have had an ongoing dialogue with the neighborhood throughout the design and the construction process. We’re getting lots of good feedback.”

People are safer when they see cops as allies, not enemies

enemy and many with agendas out there pile it on as they hold marches with signs that read “Black Lives Matter” or “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot.” However, the recent shooting of a little 7-year-old boy riding his bike in Dorchester becomes collateral damage on what have become Boston’s killing fields. Where is the public outrage? Where are the outcries for ending the culture of violence that permeates communities of color? Sadly, too often there is not outcry or public rage because these senseless acts of violence have become too often

As someone who grew up in Roxbury and the South End during the ’50s and ’60s, I don’t seem to remember this anti-cop culture that we are witnessing today. Most of us may not have loved the cops, but we knew they were needed to keep our communities safe and sound. Today the police have become the

acceptable and tolerated. We can not tolerate such because to do so turns our communities into battlegrounds with innocents like a little boy riding his bike getting shot. Did you know that since Freddie Gray’s death in police custody down in Baltimore, there have been 35 murders in that city, or that over the Memorial Day weekend 28 folks were shot and nine killed? Were there protests on the streets of Baltimore? Was the mayor of Baltimore holding a press conference condemning the violence? [Were] cable news

channels covering this story all weekend long? Apparently, the lives of African Americans matter only when they are killed by police officers. Otherwise, just another violent day in the hood. Nothing new to see there? Our streets are safer when communities and the police see each other as allies in the fight for safe communities. SGT. SAL GIARRATANI (RET.), DMHPD

Focus on the positives MLB. In a subpar season thus far, there are a few Red Sox players exceeding expectations.

Through 43 games, the Red Sox are three games below .500 ( 21-24), and a number of players are having below-average seasons. David Ortiz is hitting just .221 with 18 RBIs, Daniel Nava is at .159, Mike Napoli is at just .211 and Mookie Betts is at .239. The pitching staff hasn’t been much better as Joe Kelly has an ERA of 6.24 and Rick Porcello’s number is up to 5.07. Despite all these under-performing players, there have been a few players playing well: Xander Bogaerts (.282, 2 home runs, 15 RBIs)

Warriors look to finish off Rockets

The Warriors had looked like they weren’t going to lose in the NBA postseason again prior to Monday night’s Game 4 loss at Houston. Not only did Golden State fall, MVP Stephen Curry nearly broke his neck as he tumbled to the hardwood trying to make a defensive play. Curry said that his fall looked more painful than it actually was and that it was a “minor injury.” He will be ready to go in Wednesday’s Game 5 (9 p.m., ESPN) at Oracle Arena.

The shortstop just had an eight-game hit streak snapped Monday, but Bogaerts has been swinging a good bat the majority of the season. His best game may have come this past Sunday when he went 4 for 4 with a double against the Angels. He has 10 multi-hit games and this past week he forced manager John Farrell to move him up in the order, out of the No. 8 spot. Defensively, in his second full season, Bogaerts has improved a great deal and also looks more confident in the middle of the infield. He’s taking more charge on fly balls in

his general area, and overall is looking much better than he did last year on ground balls to his right side. Junichi Tazawa (0-1, 1.80 ERA)

Tazawa has been the Red Sox’ best reliever this season. He has appeared in 22 games and has posted an ERA just under 2.00. His 22 appearances are tied for eighth in all of baseball, three behind the Brewers’ Jeremy Jeffress. He’s been the guy Farrell has turned to when

he needs a big out in the late innings, ahead of Koji Uehara for the ninth. Of those 22 appearances, he’s only allowed runs in four of them. Brock Holt (.291, 1 HR, 11 RBIs)

While Holt’s home run and RBI numbers aren’t the highest, the lefty hitter has performed well on the whole this year. He struggled for a few weeks early on in May, but appears to have broken out of the slump. He started out the

No Brady appeal date yet set

The ongoing Deflategate scandal will continue to be, well, more ongoing. The 10-day deadline to set a hearing date for Tom Brady’s appeal for the four-game suspension for his role in the deflated footballs scandal is Wednesday. The collective bargaining agreement sets for the concept that an appeal be set in a 10-day window, not for the appeal itself to be heard. The Patriots will sign veteran linebacker Dane Fletcher to a one-year deal, according to multiple reports. Fletcher began his career with the Patriots where he mainly contributed as a special team’s contributor. Last season, Fletcher started four games at middle linebacker for the Buccaneers. St. Louis continues to have the best record in the game, and along with that the best run differential at plus-56. Young righthander Michael Wacha has gotten off to a hot start to the season, posting seven wins, which are tied for first in the NL, and a 1.87 ERA, fifth in the NL.

The American League West is having a tough start to the season, and the Astros have taken full advantage, opening a 5.5 game lead and leaving their competition in the dust. They are the only team in the division with a positive run differential. Dallas Keuchel’s six wins are second-most in the AL and his 1.98 ERA is third.

Washington has won eight of its last 10 games and now leads the NL East. Bryce Harper has put on an offensive clinic this season, as he’s hit 16 home runs and has driven in 41, first and second in the NL, respectively. Their pitching is also coming around with Max Scherzer’s 1.67 ERA being fourth in the NL.

The Twins are not only one of the biggest surprises in baseball, they are also one of the hottest teams in the game, as they have won three straight and seven of their last 10 games to jump to second in the AL Central. Closer Glen Perkins has 16 saves, which is the most in all of baseball.

It wasn’t a good week for the Tigers as they have dropped three straight games and are now in third in the AL Central, behind the Royals and surging Twins. While the Tigers’ pitching isn’t what it once was, Miguel Cabrera once again is one of the best hitters in the game, as his .344 average is second in the AL.

Chicago has lost two straight and is 4.5 games behind the Cardinals for first in the National League Central. Fortunately for the Cubs, it seems like Jon Lester is back pitching like the ace he was supposed to be, as in the month of May he’s 4-0 over five starts with a tiny 1.85 ERA.

Giants (26-20)

Mets (25-21)

Rays (24-22)

Known for their pitching, the Royals’ offense is actually what is leading the way so far. As a team, Kansas City is averaging a robust 4.82 runs per game and a productive Kendrys Morales is leading the American League with 37 RBI, as the Royals are once again leading the AL Central.

The Dodgers are 20-6 at home, but only 7-11 on the road, as they lead the NL West by two games. Adrian Gonzalez’s .344 average is second in the NL, while Zack Greinke’s 1.48 ERA is also second. Los Angeles’ pitching and defense has been very good overall, allowing an average of 3.48 runs per game.

San Francisco is one of the hottest teams in the National League as it has won eight of 10 games and now trails the Dodgers by just two games in the NL West. Brandon Crawford has been one of the most valuable players not only for the Giants but also in the league as his 2.5 WAR is fourth in the NL.

The Mets lost their division lead, as the Nationals have overtaken them for the top spot in the NL East. Their 7-15 mark on the road has held the team back. Everyone knows how good Bartolo Colon and Matt Harvey have been, but for their success to continue they are going to need to get some better offensive production.

Even though they have lost two straight, the AL East is the worst it’s been in years so the Rays are still in first place, a half game up over the Yankees. Right-hander Jake Odorizzi has a 2.31 ERA, which is fifth in the AL. The general theme for the Rays has been good pitching, but below average hitting has hurt.
