Geno Smith to miss 6-10 weeks after teammate breaks his jaw in fight Debt collection. IK Enemkpali cut by Jets after punching out Smith over $600. Geno Smith is out for the count. The New York Jets incumbent quarterback will be out at least six to 10 weeks after teammate IK Enemkpali suckerpunched him and broke his jaw in the locker room over a $600 debt. “It was an altercation in the locker room, it had nothing to do with football, over something very childish,” said Todd Bowles, the Jets first-year head coach.
“He got cold-cocked, sucker-punched whatever you want to call it in the jaw. He has a broken jaw, a fractured jaw, required some surgery.” Following the altercation, Enemkpali was cut from the team and Bowles added that [violence] is something they don’t tolerate. Later, Enemkpali apologized, but not specifically to Smith, who according to the New York Post, owed the linebacker $600 for skipping a charity event hosted by Enemkpali. “ I apologize to the Jets organization, coaches, teammates and fans,”

“I apologize to the Jets organization, coaches, teammates and fans.” Enemkpali Enemkpali said in a statement. Enemkpali, 24, has a history of violence, and apparently the Jets were aware of it when he was first drafted by the team. As a 19-year-old undergrad in Louisiana Tech, he was arrested for battery on an undercover, off-duty police officer and disturbing the peace. He was sentenced to a suspended jail sentence, 13 months of probation and fined $200 as reported by ESPN. The Jets drafted him last year, and when questioned about the incident, he blamed it on youthful mistakes. “I was just being young. [It was] a young hot-headed decision. I didn’t think about everything. If I knew what I know now, I would’ve gotten myself out of the situation. I lost my cool. That’s what is was. I didn’t know he was undercover, which is no excuse, but … yeah, I lost my cool.” Originally from Pflugerville, Texas, the 6-foot-1, 261-pound pass-rush-

er played six games for the Jets last season and was competing for a roster spot. Ryan Fitzpatrick will replace Smith and they have rookies Bryce Petty and Jake Heaps on the roster. Smith has also become a top trending topic on Twitter with memes mocking the quarterback and asking the Jets to end the season. Although he is no stranger to scandal, Rolling Stone wrote an article on the extensive time line of bad decisions Smith has been involved in, from Instagram sex scandals to
missing team meetings after bombing a game. Smith signed a fouryear, $5 million contract with the Jets in 2013. He competed for the coveted quarterback spot against Mark Sanchez, who is now with the Philadelphia Eagles. In the meantime, he apparently has a history of taking everything in stride and posted an earlier post-punch selfie on Instagram with the message, “I’ll be back.” KRISTIAN DYER and KARINA E. Cuteness alert. Mini zebu calf debuts at Prospect Park Zoo A mini zebu calf is now part of the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Prospect Park Zoo. The calf was born on June 21, but is now being incorporated into zoo life. Together with its zebu family, it will live among other domestic barn animals like goats, miniature horses, sheep and turkeys. The calf is currently nursing, but as a grazing
animal, it will move on to a diet consisting of mostly hay, according to the zoo. There is no word yet on the zebu’s name. Zebus are one of the oldest breeds of cattle, dating as far back as 6,000 years and believed to have originated from southern India, according to the conservation society. Although a small
breed, zebus can weigh anywhere from 200 to 500 pounds and measure 3 to 4 feet in length. Both male and females have small horns on top of their heads. They vary in color with hues like red, gray, black or white. Currently there are three mini zebus at the Prospect Park Zoo. KARINA E. CUEVAS

115 people now have Legionnaires’ disease in the city 12 dead. Officials say the South Bronx outbreak is tapering off, as no new infections have been reported since Aug. 3. Two more people have Legionnaires’ disease, Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a Tuesday afternoon briefing in the Bronx. A total of 115 people have been infected by the legionella since last month’s outbreak in the South Bronx. There were no additional deaths reported on Tuesday, when the number of dead rose to 12. total of 18 buildings — 11 in the impact zone and seven outside the impact zone — according to the city and state health commissioners. Buildings that tested positive for the pneumonia-causing bacteria, which is spread through the air but is not contagious, include Samuel Gompers High School, the Opera House Hotel, Lincoln Hospital and the
Bronx Post Office, according to the health department. NYC Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett said the outbreak appeared to be tapering off on Monday. De Blasio reiterated Tuesday that there hadn’t been any new infections since Aug. 3. The updated number came a day after de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo held separate press conferences and gave differing numbers on the number of buildings contaminated with legionella. The mixup was later blamed on a missed call State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker placed to Bassett, The New York Times reported. WENDY JOAN BIDDLECOMBE

NYPD looking for man who impersonated police officer in the Bronx Police are looking for a man who pretended to be a police officer, then entered a Bronx apartment, handcuffed a man inside and threatened him with a gun. Two men knocked on
a door at an apartment in the 46th Precinct in the western Bronx around 11:15 a.m. last Friday, Aug. 7, police said. The suspects told a 50-yearold man who answered the door that they were police officers, entered the apartment, handcuffed him and threatened him with a gun, making off with personal property. Police officers arrested one of the suspects in an
alley near the crime. The other suspect fled, leaving the goods. Police describe the suspect as a black male, 40-50 years old, 5-feet-9 and 200 pounds, last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. How clean are fast-food joints? Violations. Metro compared McDonald’s, Burger King and Wendy’s health code violations. Fast-food workers are on the path to getting $15 an hour. But how clean are the kitchens they work in? There are about 24,000 restaurants, bars and cafés in New York City. Metro compared health department violations, which are all available online at NYC Open Data, from some of the city’s fast-food chains across the five boroughs. A Burger King representative said the following in a statement to Metro, but did speak on the specific violations: “Cleanliness is a top priority at all Burger King restaurants. The franchisees that own and op-
erate the restaurants in New York City work diligently to maintain their restaurants and work closely with the city to resolve any issues that may arise during the normal course of business. Without detailed information or context surrounding these numbers, it is not possible to address the merits of any of these instances.” McDonald’s and Wendy’s did not respond for a request to comment by deadline. A NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene spokesman told Metro the department does not keep track of how clean fast-food chains are compared with other restaurants. “In our experience, the city treats all foodservice establishments the same as far as the requirements, regardless of what type of restaurant or store it is, if they’re serving food, and ice is even considered a food.

“I don’t think we can distinguish between a burger place in the East Village and McDonald’s.” Leon Lubarsky, Letter Grading Consulting
The rules are the rules for everyone across the board, and the requirements are the same,” said Leon Lubarsky, a lawyer who runs Letter Grading Consulting, which advises food businesses on health department compliance. “I don’t think we can

Ferguson
Police release video they say shows suspect with gun St. Louis County Police released a video on Tuesday that they said shows a suspect, who has been accused of firing on police, drawing a pistol from his pants during protests in strife-torn Ferguson, Mis-
souri. Tyrone Harris, 18, was shot by police and is in critical condition. He has been charged with four counts of assault on law enforcement, five counts of armed criminal action, and one count of shooting at a vehicle. Bond for Harris, who is black, was set at $250,000. The incident occurred on Sunday in the St.
Louis suburb where largely peaceful demonstrations over police shootings of unarmed black men have been punctuated by violence. The 13-second video taken from a surveillance camera at an insurance agency shows a group of people milling about during Sunday night’s protests marking the one-year anniversary of the fatal
shooting of an unarmed black teenager by a white police officer. During the video shots are fired and a young man can be seen brandishing what looks like a pistol. St. Louis County Police said, “The video shows Harris grab a handgun out of his waistband once shots are fired during the protest in the West Florissant corridor.” REUTERS

State of emergency stands, 150 arrested Ferguson. The St. Louis police chief said police would give protesters leeway to march but said authorities had to maintain safety. About 150 people have been arrested during several days of protests around Ferguson, Missouri, where largely peaceful demonstrations over police shootings of unarmed black men have been punctuated by flashes of violence. Police said on Tuesday that 22 people had been arrested overnight in Ferguson and another 63 were arrested for trying to block a highway. On Monday, 57 people were arrested for passing barricades that blocked a federal court in St. Louis. A state of emergency declared on Monday was still in effect for the Ferguson area, where protesters have been marching and staging acts of civil disobedience to mark the first anniversary of the shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael
Brown by a white officer. Sunday night’s rallies were marred by violence that included a drive-by shooting and several instances of rocks and bottles being hurled at police. A man accused of firing on police was shot and critically wounded. On Tuesday, police braced for more protests in Ferguson, while some residents expressed frustration over what they see as a persistent cycle of violence and bias. Adding to the tension, four white men carrying military-style rifles and sidearms, who said they are part of a group called “Oath Keepers,” patrolled Ferguson’s streets. The group describes itself as an association of current and former U.S. soldiers and police who aim to protect the U.S. Constitution. The Southern Poverty Law Center, a non-profit civil rights organization, has described the “Oath Keepers” as a “fiercely antigovernment, militaristic group.” The St. Louis County police chief condemned their appearance in Ferguson. Police shooting
Officer fired for ‘troubling’ decisions in shooting of Texas teen A white officer who fatally shot a black Texas teenager last week at a Dallas-area car dealership has been fired after making a series of troubling decisions,
Arlington Police Chief Will Johnson said on Tuesday. Christian Taylor, 19, became the latest unarmed black man to die at the hands of a white police officer after officials said he was seen on security surveillance tape vandalizing cars at an auto dealership in Arlington. Taylor was shot four times by Arlington police officer Brad Miller, 49, who
was still undergoing training with the department, police said. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office found Taylor had gunshot wounds to the neck, chest and abdomen. Johnson said Miller made bad decisions in communicating with fellow officers and initially approaching Taylor on his own without a plan for arrest. There were five other offi-
cers on scene, including the training officer for Miller, who tried to use a Taser to subdue the suspect, he said. “Based on a preponderance of evidence available to me and facts revealed by the investigative team, I have decided to terminate Officer Miller’s employment with the Arlington police department for exercising poor judgment,” Johnson said. Two rivers in Colorado and New Mexico hardest hit by contamination from toxic wastewater spilled from a defunct gold mine will remain closed to drinking water and irrigation intakes for at least another week, U.S. environmental officials said. The San Juan River and its northern tributary, the Animas River, have been fouled by the release of more than 3 million gallons of acid mine drainage inadvertently triggered by a team of Environmental Protection Agency workers last week. The wastewater has washed into the Animas River and into San Juan River in northwestern New Mexico. The orange-tinged contamination plume, containing heavy metals such as arsenic, mercury and lead, has dissipated through dilution as it spreads downstream, with its leading edge no longer visible from aerial surveys, according to the EPA. However, experts said a long-term concern is the

deposit of heavy metals from the spill that have settled into river sediments, where they can be churned up and unleash a new wave of pollution when storms hit or rivers run at flood stage. Two Colorado municipalities, including the city of Durango, and the New Mexico towns of Aztec and Farmington have shut off their river intakes, the EPA said. EPA officials said the Animas and San Juan rivers would remain closed until at least Aug. 17 to drinking, irrigation supply, fishing and boating as experts try to gauge safety risks posed by the spill. Wastewater continues to pour from a tunnel wall accidentally breached by EPA crews last Wednesday but the concentration of heavy metals reaching local streams has diminished. Emergency treatment of the effluent by diverting it into settling ponds before it empties into Cement Creek has reduced acidity and metal levels in the creek, the EPA said. REUTERS

Aide. White House staffer arrested for firing gun at her boyfriend A White House aide has been placed on unpaid leave after police say she fired a shot at her boyfriend, a U.S. Capitol police officer, with his own service weapon. She’s a special assistant to the President, but her access to the White House has been revoked following her recent arrest. Police say 37-year-old Barvetta Singletary fired a shot at her boyfriend during a domestic dispute at her Maryland home. According to charging documents, Singletary asked the officer to come over for sex. After engaging in sexual intercourse, Singletary asked the officer about another woman he was dating and tried to access his cell phones. She allegedly then grabbed the officer’s service weapon and fired a shot at him. The officer got away unharmed

An alliance of mainly U.S.-based stock traders and computer hackers in Ukraine made as much as $100 million in illegal profits over five years after stealing confidential corporate press releases, U.S. authorities said on Tuesday. The case marks the first time that U.S. prosecutors have brought criminal charges for a securities fraud scheme that involved hacked
insider information, in this instance 150,000 press releases from distributors Business Wire, Marketwired and PR Newswire. “This is the story of a traditional securities fraud scheme with a twist — one that employed a contemporary approach to a conventional crime, FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Diego Rodriguez said at a news conference.
Prosecutors said that hackers based in Ukraine infiltrated press releases before they were due to be released by the distributors. The traders gave the hackers “shopping lists of releases, prosecutors said. The hackers created a “video tutorial to help traders see the stolen releases, and were paid a portion of the profits from trades based on the information in them,
prosecutors said. Nine people were indicted by grand juries in Brooklyn, New York, and in Newark, New Jersey, on charges that they made $30 million in illegal profits starting around February 2010. Five of the nine charged were arrested on Tuesday, prosecutors said. They said international arrest warrants were issued for the other four. REUTERS

Shoulder Arthritis Treatments Keeping Boomers Active Into Their 60’s, 70’s Even 80’s? If you suffer with painful shoulder arthritis – science may have finally found the answer you’ve been looking for. Here is why: Researchers have discovered an natural gel like medicine that is like “joint oil.” This all-natural gel is one of the naturally occurring lubricating substances in your shoulder joint that cushions and lubricates the joint which dries out over time due to wear-and-tear, age or injury. But when doctors precisely place this lubricating gel into your shoulder joint by using advanced digital imaging technology – it is like putting oil on a rusty door hinge. It lubricates the joint and can decrease pain and stiffness. For some, results can be dramatic and last for months. Years for some. Often times shoulder surgery can be avoided.
Know this: This is NOT a supplement you can buy over the counter or on the internet. This is a REAL medical treatment that must be given by a trained health care professional. Ex-Texas Gov. Rick Perry can’t pay presidential campaign staff
Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry has stopped paying his campaign staffers, several media outlets reported, saying the former Texas governor’s operations are running out of money. The Washington Post, citing campaign and Super PAC officials as well as other Republicans familiar with Perry’s operations, said fundraising for the two-time presidential candidate had dried up. Perry has struggled to gain traction in his second bid for the White House and has consistently been at the bottom of the pack of 17 Republi-

cans seeking the party’s nomination for the 2016 presidential election. Perry’s campaign manager last week told staffers after the Republican Party’s first debate that they would no longer be paid, but most are staying on as volunteers, the newspaper reported, citing one Republican familiar with the situation. A Super PAC aligned with Perry said it would step in to provide support and do some work normally handled by campaigns, such as building ground organizations, the Washington Post reported. Super PACs and candidates’ campaigns are not legally allowed to coordinate their activities, the newspaper added, although the fundraising groups can back candidates. REUTERS
A Chicago-area man pleaded guilty on Tuesday in federal court to a charge that he tried to travel overseas to join an al Qaeda-linked jihadist group in Syria. Abdella Ahmad Tounisi, 21, of Aurora, Illinois, was arrested in 2013 as he prepared to board a plane at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport bound for Istanbul, Turkey, prosecutors said. Tounisi, then 18, had spent four months conducting online research related to overseas travel and violent jihad, focusing specifically on Syria and the Jabhat alNusrah terrorist group, prosecutors said. A Jackson, Michigan, inmate was awarded $1,251 after a jury ruled his rights were violated when a guard barred him from hugging his wife during a prison visit. Howard Stern has all your Aniston-Theroux wedding details
Taylor Swift’s squad about to get a lot cooler
CULTURE
Wish you knew more about the big surprise wedding Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux threw themselves last week? Howard Stern is here to help. The radio host and his wife made the superselective guest list, and Stern was more than happy to divulge details
Here’s something I didn’t see coming: Taylor Swift and I might have very similar squad goals. Swift recently struck up a Twitter friendship with Patrick Stewart — so naturally I’m jealous — and now they’re apparently ready to make the jump to friends IRL as well. “She’s coming to town,” Stewart tells E! News, adding that attending a Swift show is apparently in the cards for him and best pal Ian McKellen. “I think we’re working on that. I mean, she’s invited us into her squad.” This is not fair, universe. Not fair.

Naya Rivera is blogging her pregnancy Are you tired of celebrities being all coy and secretive about the details of their personal lives? Well, good news, because Naya Rivera is here to buck that trend. The former “Glee” star has been blogging her way through her pregnancy, and things are really starting to get interesting in her little world of oversharing. “After months of changes, anticipation and excitement, it’s finally here — the third trimester,” she writes. “When I reached the final leg of my pregnancy, I was ecstatic. I could see the finish line and it felt so good. Sure, my back was on fire and I was tipping the scales at numbers I didn’t think I could ever reach, but who cares? We’re almost done! once back at his day job. Like, for instance, were they duped into thinking they were just going to a birthday party? “That was all horses—. Some people were left out of it, but they contacted us and said, ‘Look, please don’t tell anyone,’” Stern reveals. “They’re so secretive, those two.” Stern was apparently a big part of the happy couple’s to-do, as they even drafted him into giving a speech — about which he says he was “f—ing miserable” — and invited him and his wife to come along on their honeymoon to Bora Bora. But he had to decline that one. “I put my foot down,” he says. “I said, ‘Beth, I’m going home.’ I was invited but, look, I got to get home.” And if he hadn’t, he wouldn’t be able to share all this now.
David Beckham: pro-binky

In one of the more obnoxious examples of tabloid overreaching, the Daily Mail recently criticized David and Victoria Beckham for letting their 4-year-old daughter, Harper, still use a pacifier after paparazzi photos showed her with one recently, fretting that it could lead to “speech or dental issues.” Your concern is duly noted, Daily Mail. But Mr. Beckham is having none of it. “Why do people feel they have the right to
criticize a parent about their own children without having any facts?” he posted to Instagram. “Everybody who has children knows that when they aren’t feeling well or have a fever you do what comforts them best, and most of the time it’s a pacifier, so those who criticize think twice about what you say about other people’s children because actually you have no right to criticize me as a parent.” So there.

It’s pretty great that, several months o, we still don’t know everything about who this “The Force Awakensâ€? dude is. / LUCASFILM
‘STAR WARS’ IS DOING FAN SERVICE JUST RIGHT This week we got a new trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens from the “Star Wars Korea YouTube channel, with a couple seconds of new footage. I, like many of you, watched it over and over again, freezing the frame and speculating about what it all means. I’ve had discussions about this with less, um, fanatical “Star Wars fans than myself, and argued about why it all means so much to me. Why should an extra two seconds of footage make me all teary? Why does it matter? I’ve said this publicly numerous times, but I love the way the marketing campaign is being run here. We’ve seen all kinds of stuff, and yet we really know very little. I hate films that give away everything in the trailer,
yet I’m poring over this one to squeeze out every little detail. I think that’s the point. Fans like me want to watch these things again and again for the sole purpose of spending hours talking with friends and fellow fans about what it all means. We want the anticipation and the possibility that we ferreted out a detail or an idea before our friends did. We want these final few months to be about enjoying the anticipation, not knowing everything before we even see it. Keeping the mystery while giving fans something to chew on is the perfect way to go about it, in my opinion. I’m excited, but by December 18 I won’t be burnt out. I loved “X-Men: Days of Future Past, but the constant,
almost daily stream of set photos and character portraits got so boring after a while that it took me weeks to care enough to see the film. I felt like I’d watched it already. “Terminator: Genisys gave away every plot point in the trailer. There is a lot riding on “The Force Awakens. Will it make up for the prequels? Is this film going to be so good that I’ll be willing to watch stand-alone films and sequels and buy all the toys? Every “Star Wars fan feels the fear (and we all know where fear leads). However, we also have the anticipation that this might just be good enough to change everything. In the meantime, this is a glorious tease and it’s nice to know that someone can do it right.

Jane Lynch talks taking the stage in ‘See Jane Sing’ post ‘Glee’ Interview. The actress and comedienne tells us why she’s addicted to performing live. Emmy Award-winning actress Jane Lynch has conquered film, TV and Broadway, all of which she says she loves, but for now she’s relishing her concert tour “See Jane Sing.” Here, we talk to her about screen versus stage and performing with a couple of her closest friends.
Jane Lynch takes the stage with Kate Flannery and Tim Davis in “See Jane Sing.” / PROVIDED If you go:
‘See Jane Sing’
You’ve performed onstage and onscreen. Is there one you prefer? I started out onstage because I love performing live. And then I started to do TV and film and loved that, too. I honestly thought I wouldn’t want to go back to the stage until I did “Annie” on Broadway two summers ago. I got bitten by the bug again and now you can’t keep me off the stage! What do you like about performing live? I love the live audience. They are so much a part of the experience. It’s intimate and immediate. I don’t enjoy being alone onstage, though. I love bouncing off other people’s talents. I’m so lucky to have my good friends Kate Flannery and Tim Davis up there with

me and the guys in our quintet are just amazing and wonderful. What is it about “See Jane Sing” that gets you particularly excited? Performing with my two friends Kate and Tim, plus the band is what gets me really excited. There are also a couple of numbers that when it’s time for them I get psyched. One is actually a rap. Yep, I’m rappin’ — a rap tune on a set list that includes Irving Berlin. “Now you can’t keep me off the stage!” Jane Lynch tells us. / JAKE BAILEY

Kate Flannery and Tim Davis make it easier to work together? I’ve known Tim and Kate for a very long time, but this is the first time the three of us have performed together. It’s such a magical and damn fun experience to lock eyes with them out there on that stage. We love tight harmonies and have pretty good ears for it. We adore being onstage with each other, and I’ve been told you can tell. What is your dream Broadway role? I don’t really have goals or aspirations anymore. I find I do much better focusing on what’s right in front of me. It keeps me in the moment and firmly in the now, which when you think about it is really the only place you can be. Things we learned about the new Not ‘Twin Peaks’ series having
TCA update. David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks” revival might be on Showtime sooner than you think. It may not be the smoothest path to production ever, but David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks” revival is firmly moving forward at Showtime. Network president David Nevins shared a few pieces of information about the show.
1
It starts shooting in September. Sure, Lynch briefly left the project, but it’s back on track for next month. Which leads us to ...
2
Nevins is “hoping” we get a 2016 release date. The show was initially set for 2017, but since Lynch is back on board and shooting soon, Nevins said it’s possible we’d get it sooner, but he’s going to let Lynch decide when it’s ready.
3
Expect to see the faces you’re hoping for appearing. Nevins was cagey on the details, but did say fans should be “optimistic” that
A few “Twin Peaks” mysteries just got solved. / GETTY IMAGES
6
But how many episodes will there be? The original series order called for nine, but Nevins admitted that there was probably more than nine hours of story to tell, so it’ll probably be longer than that, but he wasn’t sure how much.
the actors and characters they loved in the first series will be returning (beyond just Kyle MacLachlan), plus some new faces.
4
David Lynch will direct the whole thing. There won’t be the usual mix of directors you see in TV series. Lynch is handling the whole thing.
7
Lynch is firmly behind the wheel. Asked if he gives Lynch any notes on the whole thing, Nevins laughed and said it was more like “conversations” than notes. Wow, we really wish we could have our own tete-a-tetes with Lynch about the deeper points of “Twin Peaks.”
5
Now we know why Lynch walked off. Nevins said that the disagreement stemmed from Lynch not wanting to direct the whole thing and the length of the series. They’re now more flexible on the latter, and Lynch plans to shoot the whole thing like one long movie. Nevins also said he never doubted that Lynch would return.

than a beautiful welcome basket.” It doesn’t matter whether you splurge on extravagant items or go for cute budgetfriendly finds like candy — the key is that it’s personal. “Maybe that person likes bird watching and you have a little pair of binoculars,” suggests Hobbs. Another fun idea: Create a local-themed basket to help guests familiarize themselves with the area with maps, brochures and local products such as wines, syrups or jams.

The data, from techbased startup brokerage TripleMint, compared rent prices in similar Manhattan and Brooklyn neighborhoods that many renters find themselves deciding between. So while DUMBO and Tribeca are close cousins when it comes to rental searches by prospective tenants — and prices in both neighborhoods are among the highest in their respective boroughs — DUMBO rents grew 18 percent yearly in 2014 compared to only 8 percent in Tribeca, according to Capital New York. Downtown Brooklyn saw 31 percent overall growth in rental costs between 2013 and 2014, compared to only a 10 percent rise in the Financial District. And Fort Greene rents went up 22 percent in the same period, while Upper West Side rents remained relatively flat.
641 Fifth Avenue #PH4/5 The most expensive property to come onto the market this week is an eight-bedroom, nine-plusbathroom condo in Midtown, marketed by Brown Harris Stevens. The home features 28 fulllength windows with panoramic views, a wood paneled library with a wood-burning fireplace, two staircases and two interior elevators. The building offers a concierge, doorman and gym.

JETS, BOWLES STILL CLEANING UP RYAN’S MESS Opinion

With Geno Smith out, the Jets will now rely on Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback. / GETTY IMAGES
arrest (as well as a league suspension for violating the substance abuse policy) and then Tuesday’s news about IK Enemkpali’s punch that broke quarterback Geno Smith’s jaw is just another indictment on the old regime. This one isn’t a blight on Bowles or first-year general manager Mike Maccagnan. It just underscores exactly why the time was right to see Ryan go. No one wanted him to really go. In fact, Ryan was
handed some bad rosters his final two years with the team and didn’t do a bad job of keeping the Jets competitive. But in terms of character and integrity, he showed some serious misjudgments when it came to his own locker room. A player on the Jets told Metro last week that Bowles uses the word “accountability” more than any other in his vocabulary. Players are fined for being late to meetings, or not doing the right thing. In other words, the kind of
petty things such as last year when Smith was late to a team meeting in San Diego. Don’t pin this one on the new regime. Not yet. Neither Enemkpali, nor Smith or Richardson for that matter, were brought in by Bowles or Maccagnan — all three were draft picks of the old order. No NFL locker room is perfect, not when athletes get paid millions to play a violent sport and are fawned over, treated like royalty and given preferential
treatment that breeds an air of entitlement. But it is fast becoming clear that how Ryan ran things only made this a petri dish for a spoiled attitude to take root. It is just more evidence that Jets owner Woody Johnson was right, that the old way of doing things was wrong and that the Jets needed more accountability in that locker room. They got that in Bowles, who apparently has plenty of work to do to get this thing right.
Brady to appear tomorrow Despite urgings from a judge in New York for Tom Brady and the NFL to settle, several sources have reported that a settlement is unlikely before Brady and Roger Goodell are expected to meet Wednesday. Brady’s four-game suspension was upheld by the NFL in his appeal in July.

They are still left with Rex’s mess. Tuesday’s news about “Jawmageddon” is just the latest gut punch to their former head coach’s legacy. It might take longer than the New York Jets thought to clean up the burning trash can that former head coach Rex Ryan left behind. This was a team that for six years carried Ryan’s unabashed personality and swagger, something that reshaped a franchise seemingly forever stuck in the doldrums. But it also was a temperament, a personality that let the inmates run the asylum. Now a new head coach in Todd Bowles is in town, preaching accountability and trying to sweep out the trash. There’s no denying that with a veteran team he inherited in 2009 that Ryan was the right man for the job. He let the players go about and do their jobs and it worked with two magical runs in the playoffs, bringing the team to a game within the Super Bowl. But his style didn’t adjust to a younger team, a team that needed strong leadership atop the organization. And the news of the past few weeks, including Sheldon Richardson’s

Will Yanks’ hesitation at deadline cost them? MLB. The Blue Jays have been playing stellar baseball of late and may have eclipsed the Yankees in the AL East.
The Jets’ Super Bowl odds with Geno Smith were a putrid 50-1. / GETTY IMAGES
Geno Smith is down for likely two months but the New York Jets odds to make the Super Bowl are likely to be up and better than they were earlier today, at least according to Las Vegas. The news that Smith was sucker-punched by teammate IK Enemkpali before Tuesday’s training camp practice rocked the Jets locker room for all the wrong reasons. But since veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is likely to start, it appears that the gambling world thinks the Jets odds to win have actually improved. Smith is slated to miss up to 10 weeks as the fallout from the punch will require jaw surgery. As of July, gambling website Bovada.LV had the Jets at 50-1 odds to
win the Super Bowl, alongside teams such as the Chicago Bears and the San Diego Chargers. Now the Jets odds for the season are off the board as the bookmakers adjust, but they might actually be improved with Fitzpatrick and not Smith under center. “With the Geno Smith news, our ‘Season Win Total’ for the Jets is currently down until we recalculate it, said Kevin Bradley, Sportsbook Manager for Bovada. “As far as Super Bowl, conference or division odds, they will likely improve if anything with Smith out. Apparently, the bookmakers didn’t exactly like Smith leading this team this year. Talk about insult to injury. KRISTIAN DYER

The Yankees hesitated, and they lost. As the trade deadline came and went the Bombers sat on their hands while the Blue Jays, aggressively pursuing their first playoff berth since 1993, made bold moves and got better. The only move the Yankees made was to bring in the underachieving Dustin Ackley from Seattle, and he hit the DL after just two games with a strained oblique. Meanwhile the Blue Jays, who are 11-1 since the trade deadline passed, loaded for bear and brought David Price and Troy Tulowitzki into the fold, and their authoritative and surprising series sweep of the Yankees this past weekend in the Bronx made those moves look very wise. It wasn’t just the fact the Blue Jays took all three games and trimmed the Yankees’ division lead to 1½ games, it was the way they went about it. The Yankees, who through last Tuesday had scored 90 runs in a 10-game span, plated just a single run in three games. Saturday and Sunday’s shutout losses marked the first time the Yankees had been held
Jacoby Ellsbury’s return hasn’t given the Yankees’ oense much of a boost. / GETTY IMAGES
scoreless in back-to-back contests since 1999. You might recall the Yankees had won 17 in a row at home against the Blue Jays before that streak was broken late last season. But that run of dominance has come to an abrupt end; this transformed Blue Jays team has taken seven of the nine games they’ve played with the Yankees this season. The blame for this embarrassment lies solely on the Yankees’ offense, which has all but disappeared in the last week. In fact, in the month of August, the Yankees are batting just .208, a far cry from their season average
AL East showdown No end in sight for Yanks: •

of .256. They were allowed just 14 hits in the Blue Jays series (eight of which came in Friday’s extra-inning loss), well below expectations for the second-ranked offense in baseball.
Those looking for a scapegoat should look no further than Jacoby Ellsbury. No one is slumping harder than Ellsbury right now, as he is batting a paltry .120 in the past seven days and is at .191 since returning from a knee injury that kept him out nearly two months. Alex Rodriguez is also going through a rough patch at the moment. A-Rod was held to one hit in the Blue Jays series and he’s failed to hit a home run in the last 11 games the Bombers have played. ROBERT CRISCOLA @MetroNewYork sports@metro.us
