Hudson Yards subway station opens at last All aboard. The new 7 train station at 34th Street and 11th Avenue is the city’s 469th subway station. New York City opened its 469th subway station on Sunday morning — the first in more than two decades. The $2.4 billion 7 train expansion into the still-developing Hudson Yards area marks the end of a process that began in earnest 13 years ago. Construction began in 2007. The MTA expects 27,000 daily straphangers who as of Sunday afternoon can enter the new station at 34th Street and 11th Avenue under a glass shell that leads to a lobby with large, colorful mosaics. “This extension will benefit millions of New Yorkers in so many different ways,” MTA Chairman Thomas Prendergast said on Sunday. “And just like in the 20th century, when the 7 train created neighborhoods like Long Island City, Sunnyside, Jackson Heights, this extension instantly creates an accessible new neighborhood,” the transit executive added. City efforts to rezone the largely industrial section of western Manhattan had led to a commitment

of 12.7 million square feet of residential area, or some 9,000 apartments. As many as 50,000 New Yorkers might also find work in offices and business expected to open as the neighborhood grows. “We’re very proud of it,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said. “It is necessary so that this new city within a city can be all it is.” “The jobs that are going to be created here … are not for wealthy
people — they’re for the secretary who gets on the bus in eastern Queens,” Sen. Chuck Schumer said. “They’re for the poor person from the South Bronx who gets on the subway and comes down here and makes $25,000 selling food or cleaning the place up or whatever.” Featuring the longest escalator in the subway system, as well as its firstever inclined elevators that go 11 stories under-
ground, the station was originally supposed to be one of two that were proposed during the city’s failed bid for the 2012 Olympics. Budget and construction setbacks forced the MTA to downsize the plans to the single station from which Bloomberg took a ride to Times Square in 2013 as the MTA promised the project was 90 percent complete at the time.
Even though the former mayor was not in attendance, many of those gathered praised Bloomberg’s vision for Hudson Yards, including de Blasio. “He believed, he cared, and he got it done,” said de Blasio, who served as public advocate during Bloomberg’s tenure. “It was done through an extraordinary private-public partnership, and it’s going to have, again, a lasting impact on this city.” CHESTER SORIA
Spat. State, city officials squabble over MTA funding Elected leaders and transit executives alike hailed the opening of the new 7 train station as transportation policy at its best, even as many of those celebrating the inaugural ride openly disagreed on how to pay for similar future projects. The crowd awaiting the ribbon cutting was treated to polite jabs between city and state officials fighting over whether City Hall should be responsible for closing the MTA’s current $27 billion budget gap for large-
scale projects. “This project is a perfect example of the city understanding its responsibility to support a transit system that sits at the very foundation of New York’s economic growth and success,” said MTA Chairman Thomas Prendergast. It’s the second time in a week that Prendergast pointed toward City Hall. He linked the wall collapse in Brooklyn that derailed a G train and injured four to the budget gap, pressing the city to
contribute about $3.2 billion for its capital budget. Mayor Bill de Blasio, who sat through Prendergast’s public plea, said that city residents already pay their fair share to the MTA through taxes, fares and tolls. “I think it’s very important we remember the facts,” the mayor said after Prendergast spoke. “The city of New York and the people of New York are the backbone of the funding of so much of the MTA.” CHESTER SORIA

Both women then left the store. The boy refused medical attention. One suspect is 35 to 45 years old with long braided black hair. She was wearing
a dark-colored skirt and a white button-down shirt with a black design on it. The second suspect is 25 to 30 years old, seen wearing a hat, black T-shirt with a design in front and denim shorts. Archdiocese condemns sale of pope tickets Scalped. Tickets are being sold for up to $600 a pair on Craigslist. Thousands of people won tickets to see Pope Francis through a lottery after the Archdiocese of New York, together with the New York City Administration, offered them to the public. Some of those winning tickets are now being sold online for profit, angering the Archdiocese. “Tickets for events with Pope Francis are distributed free for a reason — to enable as many New Yorkers as possible, including those of modest means, to be able to participate in the Holy Father’s visit to New York,” said Cardinal Timothy Dolan. “To attempt to resell the tickets and profit from his time in New York goes against everything Pope Francis stands for.” The cardinal was joined by state Sen. The elected officials are hoping Craigslist and other sites who might have them do the same. “Pope Francis’ visit to the city is a chance for us to reflect on our values, not jump on the Internet to sell devotion to the highest bidder,” said Squadron. “It’s disappointing people would exploit this historic occasion to profiteer, in direct conflict with the message of this spiritual world leader.”

BESS ADLER
For the second time in less than a week, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie criticized crime in New York City after NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton suggested the presidential candidate focus on his own state’s statistics. Christie said he has respect for Bratton and his record under former Mayor Rudy Giuliani. “Now Bill Bratton works for Bill de Blasio, and murders were up 9 percent this year and shootings are up 20 percent,” Christie said while on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday morning. “What’s the one variable in that? Al Qaeda chief urges lone wolf attacks, unity
Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri called on young Muslim men in the United States and other Western countries to carry out attacks inside there and urged greater unity between militants. “I call on all Muslims who can harm the countries of the crusader coalition not to hesitate. We must now focus on moving the war to the heart of the homes and cities of the crusader West and specifically America,” he said in an audio recording posted online on Sunday, referring to nations making up the Western-led coalition in Iraq and Syria. He suggested Muslim youth in the West take the Tsarnaev and Kouachi brothers, who carried out the Boston marathon
bombings and Charlie Hebdo shootings in Paris respectively, and others as examples to follow. It was not clear when the recording was made but references to former Taliban leader Mullah Mohamed Omar as being alive suggest it is at least two months old. Omar’s death was announced by Afghanistan’s government in late July. Zawahri reiterated his position on Islamic State, repeating what he said in a recording posted on Wednesday - that he viewed the group’s claim to be a caliphate as illegitimate but would join them in fighting Western and secular forces in Iraq and Syria. Death toll from Okla. prison fight rises to four
A fourth inmate has died and three others remained hospitalized on Sunday, a day after a fight broke out at a privately owned prison in Oklahoma, prison and state officials said. The “inmate-on-inmate altercation” at the Cimarron Correctional Facility lasted less than two minutes on Saturday afternoon, according to the Corrections Corporation of America, which owns and operates the prison in Oklahoma. Three inmates appear to have been stabbed to death and a fourth later died at a medical facility, state Department of Corrections spokesman Alex Gerszewski said on Sunday. REUTERS
India police hunt for owner of explosives after blast
Indian police said on Sunday they were hunting for the owner of illegally stored explosives which accidentally detonated in the center of a crowded town, killing at least 88 people. Rajendra Kaswa, a local businessman, has been charged with illegally storing gelatin sticks and other explosives next to a restaurant and busy junction in the town of Petlawad in central India, officials said. He also faces charges of criminal negligence and culpable homicide. “He is on the run. One of his accomplices has already been arrested. REUTERS

Trump says high pay for CEOs is a joke, ‘disgraceful’
Gov. Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency on Sunday in Northern California areas hit by a fastexpanding wildfire that injured four firefighters and forced thousands of people to evacuate small towns near wine country. The firefighters were hospitalized with second-degree burns after they were dropped off by helicopter to build containment lines against the so-called Valley Fire, which broke out on Saturday in Lake County, north of San Francisco and then spread quickly in hot weather and drought conditions. REUTERS
Donald Trump said on Sunday high salaries paid to chief executives were a “joke” and a “disgrace” and said these were often approved by company boards stacked with the CEO’s friends. Trump said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that it was hard to tackle the question of corporate pay because too many corporate boards lacked independence. “It’s disgraceful. Sometimes the boards rule but I would probably say it’s less than 10 percent; and you see these guys making enormous amounts of money. It’s a total and complete joke,” he said. REUTERS

Advanced Knee Arthritis Treatment Offers New Hope For Pain Sufferers In New York City
Nothing Spreads The Word Like Caring Doctors and Results - Knee arthritis sufferers have swarmed the OsteoRelief Center in Manhattan, NYC and Norhtern New j Jersey ever since word got out of their advanced medical procedure for knee arthritis
Viscosupplementation. This all sounds great - in theory. But there is a BIG problem with this treatment. Allow Me To Explain... While doing research on this treatment, I traveled to amedical clinic in New York City, This clinic had an excellent reputation and I got to speak not only with doctors but with several patients who ranted and raved about the results. Many said they had tried countless other treatments in the past... including viscosupplementation... but nothing worked until they had viscosupplemtation at this clinic. I was skeptical, so I asked one of the doctors why. How could it be possible that the same treatment that did not work when done elsewhere... was getting results when done here? His response was honest and a little shocking. And the bottom line was... “All Doctors Are Human And Sometimes They Mess Up” I discovered that this treatment must be VERY
PRECISE. In other words, the doctor must be very accurate and actually get the lubricating fluid precisely into the arthritic joint space or the treatment will be rendered useless. Many doctors do not want to admit it - but it is very easy to miss the joint space and alter the treatment results. In fact, research shows that doctors doing these types of joint procedures without advanced imaging may miss the joint space as much as 30% of the time.
Technology To The Rescue Thankfully technology is solving this problem. How? It’s making doctors much more accurate and this treatment much more effective. Advanced imaging is now available that allows doctors to actually see directly into the joint space and watch the treatment. Doctors can see, or check, if the lubricating fluid goes directly into the joint space - or misses. The doctor knows if the applied treatment has been a success... or failure... INSTANTLY.

Iran says uranium exploration results promising Preliminary exploration surveys for raw uranium in Iran are progressing well but it is too early to announce any discoveries, the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Agency of Iran (AEOI) was quoted as saying on Sunday. The Foreman Forecast
TOM FOREMAN
TOM FOREMAN IS A CNN CORRESPONDENT AND AUTHOR OF THE UPCOMING BOOK “MY YEAR OF RUNNING DANGEROUSLY.”
Like the cast of “300” you can bet the GOP candidates spent the weekend spray-painting their abs and girding their loins, because it’s debate time again! The second meeting of the Republican contenders (hosted by CNN and moderated by my pal, Jake Tapper) will dominate coverage, and it is the centerpiece of my three things to watch this week in politics. 1. “THIS IS WHERE WE FIGHT!”: The other candidates tried ignoring him, pointing out his mistakes, and even mocking his hair. Yet Donald Trump has become the unstoppable force; steadily rising in the polls, improving his favorability, and seemingly having a blast. Sure, the election is still more than a year away, but after watching Rick Perry get carried off on his shield you can bet the others will launch the sharpest attacks yet on the front-runner— and I would TRUMP
not be surprised to see Carly Fiorina lead the charge. 2. WAR ELEPHANTS: Those surreptitious videos of Planned Parenthood reps may not mean much to folks who dismiss them as unfair sneak attacks, but they triggered a battle cry for conservatives on Capitol Hill. Expect the House of Representatives to vote this week on a proposal to cut all funds for PP unless the group stops offering abortions — which of course is not going to happen. And even if you don’t care about this issue, you might care about this legislation. Because there are rumbles the dispute could lead to — you guessed it — another government shutdown. 3. THE HOT GATES: Meanwhile, on the Democratic front Hillary Clinton’s phalanx will continuing trying to anchor its defenses against what has becoming a troubling slide in the polls. Yes, her foot soldiers are quick and correct to say that she is still the favorite for the nomination, but her once-seemingly invulnerable position looks considerably weaker now than it did a few months back. Step 1: Wait for the GOP debate to end, then attack the winner. Fast.
Europe
Struggling Germany seeks ‘orderly’ tackling o migrant crisis Germany appealed on Sunday for a rapid return to “orderly procedures” in dealing with Europe’s
migrant crisis, as the continent’s most powerful nation acknowledged it could scarcely cope with thousands of asylum seekers arriving daily. A week after Chancellor Angela Merkel effectively opened German borders to asylum seekers, one senior minister said the country
had reached its limits. Bild newspaper reported that Berlin wants to reintroduce frontier controls temporarily, affecting arrivals from Austria first. Germany has halted train traffic from Austria, a spokeswoman for Austrian rail company OeBB said on Sunday. She said the head of the German
rail company told his Austrian counterpart of the decision. Amid political bickering among European governments, the crisis claimed yet more lives — 28 migrants drowned off a Greek island on Sunday when their boat sank, the coast guard said. REUTERS

Hidden in the haze of the petrochemical plants and beyond the seemingly endless traffic jams, a Texas city has grown so large that it is poised to pass Chicago as the third-biggest in the United States in the next decade. Houston has been one of the fastest-growing U.S. cities for years, fueled by an energy industry that provided the backbone of the economy, low taxes and prospects of employment that have attracted
job seekers. But Houston also embodies the new, urban Texas, where political views have been drifting to the left, diversity is being embraced and newer residents are just as likely to drive a hybrid as a pickup truck. Houston’s move is also indicative of demographic shifts unfolding in the United States that will increase the population and political clout of the Lone Star State over the next several decades. Within eight to 10 years, Houston is forecast by demographers in the two states to pass Chicago, which has seen its population decline for years, as the third-largest city. Houston has long been associated with the risk takers in the oil industry

Is there trouble in paradise for Roberts? ALL PHOTOS GETTY IMAGES
I generally don’t like to hear bad news about Julia Roberts, despite her frosty relationship with the press. So these reports about moving trucks appearing outside her Malibu home while she’s across the country for New York Fashion Week are truly troubling. According to Radar Online, the presence of the vehicles confirms reports of strife between Roberts and husband Danny Moder, which is just not cool. “The marriage is on the rocks,” a source previously told the website. “There are a lot of issues with money. Julia said she doled out millions of dollars in mortgage payments for [Moder’s father]. She helped him out for at least five years, and she got tired of footing the bill. It became a bone of contention between her and Danny.” Enough of a bone that he’d sneakily move his stuff out while she’s off being all glamorous and junk? Apparently, though I really hope not.
Taylor Swift on ‘Law & Order: SVU’? Of course
Taylor Swift has made no secret of her love for long-running NBC staple “Law & Order: SVU,” even going so far as naming one of her cats, Olivia Benson, after Mariska Hargitay’s character. So if she loves the show so much, why doesn’t she just marry it? Or at least do a cameo on it? I mean, literally anyone can get at least

Don’t mess with Jake Gyllenhaal’s fast food
While promoting his Toronto International Film Festival premiere of “Demolition,” Gyllenhaal copped to a youthful turn at letter-writing when KFC discontinued his favorite menu item. “When I was a little child, I was at school and we were supposed to learn how to write letters and complaint letters. And so I decided to write to Kentucky Fried Chicken and tell them that I was upset that they had discontinued Chicken Littles,
an episode of “Law & Order.” Well, as it turns out, Swift is working on doing just that, at least according to Hargitay. “We just talked about it,” the actress says of getting Swift onto the show. “We’re going to wait until the end of the tour to see how it goes. But it’s in the air.” Oh good. Carry on. Swift fans, get excited.
which were a particular type of mini hamburger with fried chicken in the middle of it,” Gyllenhaal admits. “It was deeply upsetting to me at the time and I felt like they should bring them back.” KFC did in fact bring them back, but not until 2012. Still, a delayed victory is a victory. “I think I indirectly had something to do with that,” he jokes. “It’s empowering and I encourage most people, if they can, to really express themselves.”

A new kind of warrior Interview. Lee Jones takes on the role of a sensitive fighter in “The Bastard Executioner.”
It’s a bit of a jump to go from motorcycle gangs to the violence of medieval Wales, but that’s exactly what Kurt Sutter has done in moving from “Sons of Anarchy” to his new series, “The Bastard Executioner.” The show stars newcomer Lee Jones as Wilkin Brattle, a conflicted warrior. It’s the Australian actor’s first American role, but he’s rolling with it. “It’s a lot to take in, but it’s very exciting,” he says. He describes Brattle as “a very spiritual yet tortured man. He’s a former knight of Edward I, who’s searching for a higher calling in life. He

gets backed into a corner and has to fight for survival, and that leads him into becoming the executioner.” The show is clearly quite different from the world of “Sons,” but there are some parallels. “It’s about a very violent world, and family has a huge part in this — and also ven-
geance,” explains Jones. Not only was Jones a newcomer to the American TV scene, he was also a newcomer to the work of Sutter. He admits he “hadn’t really” seen any of Sutter’s earlier show, and he didn’t try to fake any knowledge about it. “No point in bluffing. I wasn’t going to do
that. I have seen bits, and what I’ve seen is amazing. This is very different for Kurt,” he says. “I think people are kind of surprised by it, but thematically it’s very close to what he focuses on. It’s very visceral ideas of dark and light sitting close together.” That’s certainly very

true of Brattle, who seems to loathe violence but has, unfortunately, a high skill level with it and can’t stop getting drawn back in to fighting. Jones jokingly calls him “a sensitive badass,” given how much he gets into scrapes but feels conflicted about it. There’s a pretty high level of gore, but Jones says he can “stand a lot. I’ve had to stand a lot already. It gets very gory, but it’s a medieval piece. This is a violent world that we’re in, so nothing’s out of place. It’s very real.” There was one moment that made him hesitate, however. “I had to deal with a snake the other day. I was surprisingly OK. I was a little worried for a second, but I actually really enjoyed it.”
With all of that fighting, Jones had to learn how to be a warrior. It was a bit of a change for him, though he had done a different form of fight choreography before. “I had [done it] for the stage. It’s very different. It’s my new favorite thing, though — I love it.” But no medieval warrior would be complete without a noble steed. “I’m doing a lot of horse riding in this. That’s also my new favorite thing,” he explains.

times. What I responded to most was her honesty. She said it wasn’t easy. Marriage isn’t easy. Life isn’t easy. Obviously there’s a version of this that could have been sugarcoated, but they very much wanted us to tell the story as truthfully as we could.
From the title, “90 Minutes in Heaven — the film of Don Piper’s bestseller in which he claims he saw the afterlife after a near-fatal car accident — would seem to be a religious film. But that’s not how stars Hayden Christensen and Kate Bosworth see it. They see it as a drama in which Christensen’s Don and Bosworth, as his wife Eva, struggle with his slow and painful recovery. Adding to the intensity is this: Bosworth was directed by her real-life husband, Michael Polish.

shepherding Hayden and me into playing married people. This is the third movie Michael and I have done together, but the first we did while married. There was a wonderful element to being able to convey Don’s story and the sacredness of their marriage while being ourselves married.
The book has a strong following among church communities. Did you approach this as a drama or a religious ďŹ lm? Christensen: We didn’t really think of this as a religious movie. We thought of it as a story that we were all taken with. The [religious aspect] didn’t factor into it for me at all. I was just moved by the story. NYFW GOES BIG Here are the best moments from the runway so far
Alexander Wang’s epic after-party

#Wang10 Alexander Wang celebrated 10 years in the fashion biz with a collection that embodied the brand’s ethos: the streets. And what do tough urbanites want to wear? Slouchy, boyish low-slung pants, crop tops, denim cut-off shorts, bomber jackets, cargo-finagled trench coats, mesh and, as always, hoodies. Wang’s version repped his hometown, San Francisco.
The show didn’t stop
An ice sculpture at the party spelled out #Wang10. TINA CHADHA
on the runway After the models final walk, a loud, bass-heavy video gave audience members — which included Kanye West, Lady Gaga (smoking front row!) Nicki Minaj, Mary J. Blige, The Weeknd and Miguel — a look back at the designer’s biggest moments, from a starry-eyed 21-year-old debuting his first collection to his massive athleisure line for H&M last November. No, Balenciaga
was not mentioned (Bye, Felicia).
The after-party Then Wang nailed that other little thing he’s known for: throwing an epic bash. A curtain went up to reveal pole dancers suspended in air. Bottlepopping time. The crowds raged, Hooters waitresses passed out grub and Tinashe, Lil Wayne and Ludacris took the stage.

She also partnered with a range of cool, interesting ladies including Lena Dunham and ballerina Sara Mearns who modeled pieces from the collection on their own accounts. “What I’m really happy about is all that time spent on Instagram mounted in something innovative — ’cause I spend way too much time on that app,” says the designer. She tells us about why she’s ditched the runway and who gets her “likes.”
He’s a photographer who photographs architecture, it’s beautiful. I also love Cool Hunter.
Tell us about the collection. The starting point was the 1960s minimalist movement beginning with Donald Judd. He has these graphic but clean lines. It’s minimalistic but bold; it’s daring in its color palette. Friday, on the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, Givenchy staged its 2016 Spring and Summer collection at Pier 26 overlooking the Hudson River, the new 1 World Trade looming overhead, a reminder of not only those who had fallen on that day in 2001, but of the resilience of this bright, fast, pulsing city.
It was an extravaganza unlike anything we’ve seen at NYFW. Here’s a rundown.
Literally everyone was there We’re only kind of exaggerating. A partial list of the celebrities who attended: Christina Ricci, Nicki Minaj, Julia Roberts, Erykah Badu, Courtney Love … oh, and Kim and Kanye, but duh: Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci is North’s godfather.
Marina Abramovic and a chanting monk performed
The world’s most famous performance artist created an (hour-long!) piece for the show, filled with slow-motion tree-hugging and swaying — and a droning Buddhist monk. It was beautiful!
There were 88 looks … … Including strippeddown tuxedos, with languid trousers and twisted silk-and-lace camisoles, as well as some of Tisci’s greatest hits from older collections, like an embossed crocodile-skin gown. It was all black and white, symbolizing both despair and hope.
Rosie Assoulin makes a splash
GETTY IMAGES
And the winner for the most unusual (creative!) show venue to date: Rosie Assoulin. The designer held her spring presentation in a drained outdoor public pool in the West Village. Models, in Molly Ringwald-worthy candycolored party outfits — most strapless and floor-grazing — looked like they were at an underwater prom. TC

can style.” That means flirty lightweight tweed shifts, bold floral prints, easy culottes and shirtwaist dresses cut — like the Hollywood gowns he favors — on the bias, topped with bright woven bucket hats. RL
Shades of glam There have been ruffles galore on the spring runway, and femininity is Jason Wu’s wheelhouse. But the designer’s cascades on jacket sleeves and skirt hemlines never felt frothy thanks to his sharp tailoring. Fit and flounce aside, it was Wu’s gorgeous rich color palette that had us swooning. While most designers turn to white or pastels for spring, Wu chose a hunter green, deep tobacco brown and pops of rosey coral. He topped it all off with our favorite beauty look so far: deep red lips. Bring on the cocktail parties. TINA CHADHA

Worldwide, however, about 250 million children lack basic reading, writing and math skills, according to a United Nations report — and many don’t have access to schools that can help them learn. Pencils of Promise is helping pick up the slack. The nonprofit, founded in 2008, not only builds schools in the developing world, it also takes an active role in shaping the learning that goes on between their walls. “We don’t want to just

be known as a charity; we want to be known for our innovation, says founder Adam Braun, who launched a Kickstarter to help fund PoP’s first school in Laos at the age of 25. “We want to determine what education will look like not just for Guatemala but also New York and New Jersey. We talked with Braun and PoP Director of Impact Leslie Engle Young about how they’re changing the way we teach our kids.
Get the community involved The core of PoP’s initiative is to treat the communities it serves not as charity cases but as partners. “We don’t want to be seen as these Westerners coming from the outside and telling people what they need, says Braun. “We want to build actually locally sustainable projects. That’s why the local communities that partner with PoP contribute at least 20 percent to the cost of building the school, either through labor or materials. The rest is funded by outside
PoP by the numbers • 300+ schools built • 30,000+ students served • 90 percent of teachers report increases in student engagement due to PoP programs • Students score 3x higher on language literacy tests than their peers
donors. They also have a large say in what the school should be like, too. “When we visit a potential community, we spend a lot of time with the administrators, elders, teachers and students asking questions about what they want to see happen, what they want out of education, says Young. “That involvement from the beginning really drives the partnership and makes them more invested.
Utilize technology Many schools can’t afford to provide students with
enough physical copies of engaging books. PoP, therefore, uses tablets, e-readers and other creative materials to give students and teachers access to materials they wouldn’t otherwise have. (Each student is given an e-reader that contains 100 titles in both English and the local language.) “This is something that could change education in a more radical way, says Braun. “We can see it being implemented in the U.S. and other countries.
Empower students — and teachers The access to technology also helps push one of PoP’s core principles, that of student-centered learning. “That informs the things that we do in teacher coaching sessions,â€? says Young. “How to get teachers to be involved in peer learning, how to make learning come to life in the classroom, how to use games and other materials to spark learning. ‌ It’s imperative that students learn how to learn — and that they want to learn.â€?

Nas is giving scholarships to minorities who want to code Learning to code may be the best career move you’ll ever make. Not only do web developers earn good money (starting at $80,000 in New York City), but they’re also extremely happy, with 88 percent reporting feeling satisďŹ ed in their jobs. (Of course, you would be too if your job consisted of creating video games.) But — like all STEM careers — coding jobs skew male, and white. That’s why rapper and Queens native Nas is giving scholarships to blacks and Latinos to attend coding school at General Assembly, which has locations in New York City, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, London and Washington, D.C. Nas is giving out the funding via his VC ďŹ rm, Queensbridge Venture Partners. Queensbridge will be joining Microsoft and Google to help get more underrepresented groups into coding. Microsoft will be doling out scholarships to vets, while Google will be donating scholarship money for women. RL

The hottest schools in the US Tinder is on a quest to find the best-looking campuses — and we aren’t talking about manicured grounds and historic architecture. The dating app has released a study of the “most desirable student bodies” (ugh, its words), crunching the numbers to determine the colleges with the
most “swipe rights.” The results? Apparently, Georgetown is the No. 1 place to “meet” (look at?) attractive guys, while Florida State wins the crown for most-swiped gals. Here are the rest of the top five for both women and men — which, really, Tinder, how heteronormative. The most swiped-right males:
1. Georgetown University 2. Brigham Young University 3. University of Notre Dame 4. Texas Christian University 5. Air Force Academy The most swiped-right females: 1. Florida State University 2. University of Miami 3. University of Mississippi 4. University of Colorado Boulder 5. University of Alabama RL

What we learned as Jets dismantled the Browns NFL. The Jets took down Cleveland on Sunday at MetLife with a 31-10 win.

and Fitzpatrick threw his second touchdown pass of the afternoon, this one a 1-yard pass to wide receiver Brandon Marshall. It was the first touchdown reception for Marshall in a Jets uniform. Ivory had a 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to ice the game.
1
Fitzpatrick shows promise He may have gotten the starting nod due to a broken jaw suffered by Geno Smith, but Fitzpatrick looked the part in his Jets debut. His first pass attempt went for 22
yards to Decker and it was late in the first half, a 15-yard touchdown pass, where he threaded a needle to find Decker. Fitzpatrick wasn’t magic and he did have a firsthalf interception, but he was solid overall.
2
Johnny Mistake With McCown knocked out of the game in the first quarter with a concussion, it was time for Manziel to take over the reins of the offense. He made an instant impression as he threw a 54-yard touchdown pass that torched Cromartie over the top. But he later
would be picked and he fumbled three times in the second half.
3
The Marshall plan In the second quarter and with the Jets piecing together a decent drive, Fitzpatrick’s long pass to Marshall was intercepted by Tashaun Gipson. But Marshall had the presence of mind and sheer athleticism to track
down Gipson and strip him of the ball, then he picked up the fumble and ran it to the 9-yard line. It was a tremendous play from Marshall, who also showed tremendous body control in staying in bounds on a 17-yard pass in the third quarter. KRISTIAN DYER @KristianRDyer
“Fireman Ed,” the Jets’ most recognizable fan, was in the building and leading the “J-E-T-S” chant Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Ed Anzalone spoke with Metro in an exclusive prior to Sunday’s game and penned a letter to Jets fans. “I want to say thank you for all the support over the last 28 years of leading the cheer for the greatest chant in all of sports,” Anzalone wrote.

The first game of the Todd Bowles era in New York was a victory, his team looking tidy on offense in a 31-10 win over the Browns. Sunday’s win represented the fifth-straight season opener won by the Jets, and for Bowles, who was interim head coach of the Dolphins for the final four games of 2011, it improved his head coaching record to 4-1. It started off shaky in the first half, however, as the Browns moved the ball methodically down the field, picking apart the Jets’ defense. Cleveland QB Johnny Manziel, who entered the game in the second quarter after Josh McCown left with a concussion, threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Travis Benjamin over a hapless Antonio Cromartie. But from there, the Jets would settle down. New York would answer back with a 10-yard touchdown run by Chris Ivory and then a beautiful 15-yard pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Eric Decker to give the Jets a 14-10 lead heading into halftime. After Marcus Williams intercepted Manziel early in the third quarter, the Jets marched down the field

Giants cough it up, lose at Dallas The Giants were up by 10 points with just under six minutes remaining Sunday night in Texas, but allowed the Cowboys to race back into it. The Giants were unable to score from the 1-yard line with under two minutes left and Tony Romo orchestrated a phenomenal six play, 72-yard touchdown drive to give Dallas a come-frombehind, 27-26 victory at home. the winning TD for Dallas. The brutal fourth quarter ruined what was a stellar defensive performance by the Giants defense early on. Trumaine McBride came up huge for the Giants, as he stripped Cole Beasley in the second
quarter and allowed Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to scoop up the ball and rush in for a 57-yard touchdown. McBride also picked off Romo with eight and a half minutes left in the fourth and returned it 19 yards. MATT BURKE
