Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter and Pinterest accounts have been resecured, a spokesman from the social media platform said on Monday, responding to questions about weekend media reports that the founder’s sites had been hacked. Zuckerberg’s Twitter and Pinterest accounts were compromised over the weekend, according to a report on Sunday from technology news website VentureBeat. Those accounts have since been “re-secured using best practices,” a Facebook spokesman told Reuters, adding, “no Facebook systems or accounts were accessed.” REUTERS

NO CHARGES AGAINST MOM IN ZOO GORILLA TRAGEDY

2

Criminal charges will not be filed against the mother of a three-year-old boy who crawled into the Cincinnati Zoo’s gorilla exhibit last month, leading zoo authorities to shoot the endangered animal dead, a prosecutor said Monday. Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said the mother was attending to the three other children with her when her son “just scampered off ” on May 28. The boy had crawled through a barrier and fell 12 feet into a moat within the enclosure, when the 17-year-old gorilla grabbed the boy. Though some have called for child endangerment charges against the mom, Michelle Gregg, Deters said she was not being reckless and didn’t put her son at risk intentionally, Time magazine reports. Deters said Gregg had her back turned when the 3-year-old ran off. ALEXIS SACHDEV

A Baltimore police officer charged with murder in the 2015 death of black detainee Freddie Gray waived a jury trial on Monday and will be tried by a Maryland judge instead. Officer Caesar Goodson Jr., 46, is the third officer to face trial for Gray’s death and drove the police van in which Gray broke his neck. His death in April 2015 triggered protests and rioting and fueled a U.S. debate on police treatment of minorities. Prosecutors are still looking for a conviction in the high-profile case, with two trials ending in a mistrial and an acquittal. Goodson’s last-minute decision to have Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams decide the case came during a pretrial hearing on motions. The trial begins on Thursday morning. REUTERS

NYC first to launch transgender bathroom campaign The ads feature real transgender New Yorkers. ANGY ALTAMIRANO @MetroNewYork letters@metro.us

New York City is reminding residents and visitors to “look past pink and blue” when it comes to the use of restrooms in the city because “it’s the law, no questions asked.” Mayor Bill de Blasio and the city’s Commission on Human Rights launched on Monday the country’s first government-led citywide ad campaign voicing support for the right of everyone to use the bathroom consistent with their gender identity. The campaign — which kicks off LGBTQ Pride Month — features transgender New Yorkers including Bronx resident Alisha King; and Charlie Solidum, a Brooklyn resident and health care professional. According to King, who is a full-time mom to 3-year-old Liam, she decided to be part of the campaign because she said she felt bad for the men and women dealing with discrimination when it comes to using the bathroom and she wanted to let them know that they were not alone. “I personally wanted to let them know that they are not alone in the fight, we are all over the world fighting,” King said. She added that she thought it was “beautiful” for the city of New York to tell members of the transgender community that it has their backs. And when asked if she had any advice or comment for the cities that are currently discriminating against transgender people, King said: “We all just want to pee. We’re not looking at you, so why are you looking at us.” The launch of the citywide campaign comes

when other cities and states are continuing to deny transgender and gender-nonconforming people the right to use bathroom consistent with their gender identity. Currently, 11 states are suing the U.S. Department of Justice after a letter from the Obama administration directed schools to allow transgender students equal access to bathrooms and locker rooms. “No one deserves to be denied access to bathrooms or discriminated against for being who they are. Every New Yorker has the legal right to use the bathroom consistent with their gender identity, no questions asked — and these powerful ads affirm this right,” de Blasio

said. “While other cities and states are legislating intolerance and taking away individuals’ right to use bathrooms consistent with their gender identity, we are proudly standing with our transgender and gender non-conforming New Yorkers.” The ads and videos — appearing in subways, bus shelters, phone booths, local newspapers and across social media — are a result of audience research with transgender and cisgender New Yorkers and were created using input from the transgender community and legal advocates. The ads call for New Yorkers to “use the restroom consistent with who you are” and ask all to “look past pink and blue.” According to the city, studies show that transgender and gender nonconforming individuals regularly deal with gender identity discrimination in the workplace, school and in public accommodations. In a survey conducted by the National Center for Transgender Equality and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, 63 percent of individuals said

they experienced a serious act of discrimination, including bullying, and physical or sexual assault. Last year, the city’s Commission on Human Rights issued legal enforcement guidance detailing specific gender identity protections under the City Human Rights Law — which included equal bathroom access. Earlier this year, the mayor also issued an executive order requiring city agencies to make sure employees and the public are give equal access to city single-sex facilities without having to show any form of proof or verification of gender. “We created these ads to remind every New Yorker, cis- and transgender alike, that the city protects your right to live and work according to your gender identity and expression, including your right to use bathrooms consistent with their gender identity,” said Carmelyn P. Malalis, NYC Human Rights commissioner and chair. “These ads show that transgender people, like everyone else, have the right to use the restroom in peace.” Later this month, the city’s Commission on Human Rights will release two digital videos, which will also feature transgender New Yorkers. “New York has long been a proud leader in protecting our citizens’ rights, and we’re thrilled to see the city stepping up to ensure that every person has the freedom to use the bathroom consistent with their gender identity,” said Glennda Testone, executive director of The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center. If someone believes they have been discriminated against on the basis of gender or gender identity at work, in housing, or in public accommodations, they should call 311 and ask for the Commission on Human Rights.

Musicians will gather Tuesday night at the Brooklyn Bowl to hold a benefit concert in support of the New Yorkers for Clean Power campaign, which calls for a shift to a clean, renewable energy economy. Through education and advocacy, the campaign — which launched in May together with actor and advocate Mark Ruffalo, environmental and business groups, and clean energy companies — aims to spread the awareness of available options for clean energy, energy efficiency and clean transportation options such as electric vehicles. “In the name of having a long and sustainable economy and having safe jobs as well as protecting our health and environment, we are really hoping we can connect people to the programs and to the funding,” said Renee Vogelsang, campaign coordinator for New Yorkers for Clean Power. programs to residents looking to transition to renewable energy. For example, the state offer several tax incentives, including a 25 percent income tax credit on solar energy systems up to

$5,000. The state also offers “green driver incentives” such as emission test exemptions for individuals using electric cars and diesel-powered vehicles. E-ZPass holders with hy-

brid cars also have the chance to get 10 percent off the rate. ConEdison also offers customers savings to “go green,” such as buying energy-saving appliances, and allows people to estimate how much they will be saving. Today’s “Concert for Clean Power” will feature musicians such as

Mago: John Medeski and Billy Martin; Marco Benevento; Ryan Montbleau Band; Yuka C. Honda; Brukan Clonda; and DJ Logic. Medeski became part of the Artists Against Fracking movement after making the move from New York City to upstate New York over a decade ago.

“People, especially in the city, don’t realize where things come from,” Medeski said. “The truth is, whatever you electricity situation is, there is something burning somewhere.” Along with the music, Medeski said Tuesday night’s event will give people the opportunity to learn about the issues and about solutions they can be a part of. “It’s not going to happen overnight, but it needs to start,” Medeski said. “We’re just trying to help and as musicians the best way to help is by playing music.” He also added that just as New York state in 2015 officially banned hydraulic fracturing — or fracking — the state should push to be the leader in moving its economy to clean energy. “New York has an opportunity. Because it banned fracking, it has an opportunity to be on the forefront of this movement,” he said. “We hope that New York state will keep setting an example and it will spread.”

Man pleads guilty to hoax threat to blow up Statue of Liberty A West Virginia man on Monday pleaded guilty to making a hoax threat to blow up the Statue of Liberty last year, which prompted the evacuation of thousands of tourists from Liberty Island in New York harbor. Jason Paul Smith, 42, admitted to one count of conveying false and misleading information and hoaxes before U.S. District Judge Vernon

Broderick in Manhattan. The defendant said he was currently in mental health treatment. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Zhou said the government agreed under a plea deal to recommend a sentence of three years’ supervised release, though the judge is not bound by that recommendation. Smith faces a maximum five-year prison

term at his scheduled Sept. 6 sentencing. Jennifer Willis, a federal public defender representing Smith, said after the hearing that her client was satisfied with the deal. The defendant, from Harts, West Virginia, was accused of making the hoax threat in an April 2015 call in which he identified himself as an “ISI terrorist” named Abdul Yasin, and said “we”

were planning to “blow up” the Statute of Liberty. More than 3,200 people were evacuated from Liberty Island after officials learned of a bomb scare. Smith made the threat by placing a call from his iPad to New York City’s emergency 911 system, using a service for the hearing-impaired, authorities said. REUTERS

Report: NYC small businesses more wary on growth, hiring A total of 74 percent of city entrepreneurs are concerned of the “effectiveness of U.S. government leaders.” ANGY ALTAMIRANO @MetroNewYork letters@metro.us

Small business owners in New York City are taking a step back in growing their companies this year as they wait to see who will occupy the Oval Office, according to a recent report. Bank of America announced Monday that based on its spring 2016 Small Business Owner Report, entrepreneurs have expressed “greater caution” on their growth plans and hiring this year. The report found that 52 percent of small business owners expected to grow their businesses over the next five years

— a number down from 64 percent last year — and plans to hire have also dropped from 44 to 22 percent. A total of 300 small business owners were surveyed during the semiannual study and when asked what is affecting their outlooks this year, the top factor — with a 54 percent of owners agreeing — was the upcoming U.S. presidential election. Others included rising interest rates and social crises and violence both domestically and abroad. Two-thirds of the en-

Fortysix percent do believe the local economy would improve during the same time frame. Brooklyn cops save, adopt kitten trapped in parked car’s engine

Reiff and officers of the 69th Precinct saves the kitten. PROVIDED

It was a purr-fect ending for one kitten who found itself in a sticky situation in Brooklyn this weekend. Officers from the 69th Precinct responded to the intersection of East 86th Street and Avenue J on Sunday after receiving numerous 911 calls by concerned residents of a cat trapped inside the engine of a parked car, according to authorities. Sgt. Joshua Rios and Officer Christopher Reiff arrived at the scene with Reiff already aware that the kitten was stuck inside the engine area of the Lexus. He used a jack to lift the car to see where exactly the small feline

was. Reiff got under the car and was able to get the kitten free, police said. He then took the kitten, who was dirty, back to the 69th Precinct station house where he cleaned

him up. Photos shared via the precinct’s Twitter page show the officer washing the kitten in a bathroom sink. According to police, the small cat was adopted

by one of the officer from the precinct and “now has a great new home.” ANGY ALTAMIRANO

Police: Off-duty NYPD officer punches elderly woman in dog dispute in Brooklyn

The building in which the incident occurred GOOGLE MAPS

An off-duty NYPD police officer was accused of punching a 71-year-old woman after the two argued about her dog. Around 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, officer Vladimir Radionov, 46, was allegedly involved in a dispute with his elderly neighbor in the elevator

of a Brooklyn building, the New York Daily News reported. The dispute began when the woman tried to bring her dog into the elevator at the Seacoast Terrace residential complex in Brighton Beach, ABC7 reported. Radionov allegedly told the woman dogs

were not allowed. Surveillance footage showed Radionov telling the woman to take the dog out of the elevator, the New York Post reported. When she refused, Radionov allegedly dragged her and the dog from the elevator before punching her in the face. After Radionov got

back into the elevator, the woman allegedly retaliated by throwing a cup of coffee at him as the doors closed, the Post added. The woman was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, and Radionov was charged with assault, according to ABC7. JASON NUCKOLLS

Appeals court weighs revealing ‘Bridgegate’ co-conspirators A U.S. appeals court on Monday heard nearly two hours of argument on whether to release publicly a list of unindicted co-conspirators in the “Bridgegate” criminal case involving allies of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. The three-judge panel at the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia did not immediately rule, and a rapid-fire volley of skeptical questions aimed at lawyers for both sides made it difficult to predict how the court was leaning. A lawyer representing an individual on the list, identified only as “John Doe,” urged the court to throw out a lower judge’s decision to release the information sought by a group of media companies. “It’s not about what they would like to know,” said Doe’s attorney, Jenny Parker. “It’s about what they are legally entitled to know.” But Bruce Rosen, a lawyer for the media,

argued the public’s right to know was paramount. “This is an extremely important issue that goes to how deeply this conspiracy went into the government,” he said. The list could shed light on the extent of the scheme to shut down access lanes to the George Washington Bridge in 2013 in what prosecutors claim was an act of political revenge against a local mayor. Christie, who ran unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination this year, has denied any knowledge of the plot, but the scandal has remained a source of embarrassment. The list includes individuals that prosecutors believe were part of the conspiracy but are not facing criminal charges. Prosecutors have given defense lawyers the information as part of pretrial proceedings. Monday’s argument largely focused on a technical issue: whether the list was a “bill of

particulars,” a document that can be subject to public release, or an informal discovery letter that would normally stay sealed. Paul Fishman, the U.S. Attorney in New Jersey, argued in support of Doe’s position, saying prosecutors should be allowed to hand over such information to defendants without fear it will be revealed. As an alternative, the court is considering whether to release all the names but that of John Doe, an option both Doe and the government oppose. Three people have been charged in the case. William Baroni, a former official at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and Bridget Kelly, Christie’s former deputy chief of staff, are scheduled to face trial in September. David Wildstein, also a former official at the Port Authority, has pleaded guilty and is cooperating. REUTERS

Fed’s Yellen sees rate hikes ahead, but few hints on when To some investors, the absence of a timeframe suggests the Fed will delay its next rate hike well beyond next week, when U.S. central bankers next gather to make monetary policy. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen on Monday gave a largely upbeat assessment of the U.S. economic outlook and said interest rate hikes are coming but, in an omission that stood out to some investors, gave little sense of when. Overall, a Yellen said, “I see good reasons to expect that the positive forces supporting employment growth and higher inflation will continue to outweigh the negative ones. While last month’s jobs report, released Fri-

day, was “disappointing,â€? and bears watching, policymakers will respond “only to the extent that we determine or come to the view that the data is meaningful in terms of changing our view of the medium- and longer-term economic outlook.â€? Though she stressed surprises could emerge that could change her expectations, and listed four main risks to the U.S. economy — slower demand and productivity, and inflation and overseas risks — she concluded by downplaying them all and flagging her expectation that “further gradual increases in the federal funds rate are likely to be appropriate.â€? Still, Yellen was careful not to give any hints about the timing of a next rate increase, in contrast to a speech on May 27, when she said such a move would probably be

appropriate “in coming months.â€? Economists now see September or possibly July as the most likely time for a quarter-point policy tightening, while traders in futures markets are betting on later in the year. But to others, Yellen’s repeated emphasis on the positive aspects of recent economic data continues to suggest a rate hike in the near future. â€œThe fact that she did remove that timeframe

I think just suggests that June’s off the table, July is possible if the data cooperates, said Omar Esiner, chief market analyst for Commonwealth Foreign Exchange in Washington. “She’s a little bit more upbeat in that respect than the Street and I think that was a main takeaway for me. The U.S. central bank raised rates from near zero in December in the first U.S. policy tightening in nearly a decade. BEAM’s hatch will remain closed except when astronauts go inside the module six or seven times per year to retrieve recorded data, NASA said. Donald Trump stands ground on Hispanic judge amid furor Trump has been on the defensive since his comments last week about Mexican-American U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is overseeing fraud lawsuits against Trump University. Donald Trump on Monday rejected a barrage of criticism from his own party over his allegations of bias against a Hispanic judge, insisting his concerns were valid. “All I want to do is figure out why I’m being treated unfairly by a judge. And a lot of people agree with it,” Trump said on Fox News. Trump has suggested that Curiel’s heritage is

influencing his opinion about the case because of Trump’s campaign rhetoric about illegal immigration. Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for the Nov. 8 presidential election, has pledged to seal the U.S.-Mexico border with a wall, and has said Mexico is sending rapists and drug dealers to the United States. On Sunday he was asked if — by the same token — he believed a Muslim judge would be biased against him based

on Trump’s call for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the country. “It’s possible. Yes,” Trump said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” Republican leaders including House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell have distanced themselves from Trump’s comments, saying they are worried the tone of his presidential campaign could enrage Latinos, who are a growing U.S. voting bloc. On Monday, Sen. Jeff Flake expressed alarm. “If this doesn’t change, we’re in for big trouble,” the Arizona Republican said on MSNBC. “I hope to be able to support the nominee. I certainly can’t now,” said Flake, whose state has a large percentage of Hispanics. REUTERS

Brother-in-law of Clinton arrested on DUI in California Roger Clinton is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 2. Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton’s brother-in-law Roger was released from a southern California jail on Monday after he was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, according to police and local media. Roger Clinton, 59, was released from Redondo Beach jail after posting a $15,000 bail, Redondo Beach police spokeswomen said in a phone interview. Police declined to confirm that the man arrested and then released was the same Roger Clinton who is the younger half brother

of former President Bill Clinton. It is not the first time that Roger Clinton has been in the news. Bill Clinton, on his last day in office, pardoned his brother for a 1980s drug conviction. It could not be immediately learned if Roger Clinton had retained an attorney. Roger Clinton could not be reached for comment. The Clinton campaign also did not respond to requests for comment. Redondo Beach police pulled over Roger Clinton, of Torrance, California, after the police department received a phone call about 7:20 p.m. on Sunday about a driver possibly under the influence traveling south on the Pacific Coast Highway in an

Ex-drug executive Shkreli pleads not guilty to latest charge Former pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli, a lightning rod for outrage over soaring U.S. prescription drug prices, pleaded not guilty on Monday to an additional criminal charge that federal prosecutors filed against him last week. Shkreli, 33, was indicted in December on seven criminal counts, including securities fraud. Prosecutors on Friday added an eighth charge, saying Shkreli tried to conceal from investors his control over shares in Retrophin Inc. Evan Greebel, former outside counsel to Retrophin, also pleaded not guilty to the charge at a court hearing in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. Greebel faces two counts in all.

Shkreli last year sparked outrage among patients, medical societies and U.S. lawmakers after another company he ran, Turing Pharmaceuticals, raised the price of Daraprim by more than 5,000 percent to $750 a pill. In December, U.S. authorities arrested him on fraud charges unre-

lated to the pricing of Daraprim, saying he ran his investment funds and companies almost like a Ponzi scheme. U.S. District Judge Kiyo Matsumoto declined during Monday’s hearing to set a trial date for Shkreli and Greebel but said she was considering an early 2017 time frame. REUTERS

Court Judge John Ronan sentenced him in a Monday morning hearing, a court official confirmed. Police said Plaskon attacked Sanchez in a hallway on the Friday morning of the prom, fatally stabbing her in the neck and torso. Police believe that he killed her after she rejected his invitation to the annual formal dance. A knife was recovered near the crime scene, a police report stated. A witness saw Plaskon discard the bloody knife onto a hallway floor, according to the report. Supreme Court rejects Google appeal in class action dispute The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected Google Inc’s bid to throw out a class action lawsuit involving claims that the company deceived California advertisers about the placement of Internet ads through its Adwords service. The court’s decision not to hear the case leaves in place a September 2015 ruling by the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that the litigation could move forward as a class action representing advertisers who used the service between 2004 and 2008. Google is part of Alphabet Inc. The 2008 lawsuit accused Google of violating California fair advertising laws because it misled advertisers about where the ads would be placed. The Adwords service was primarily aimed at placing ads next to relevant Google internet search results. But the plaintiffs said Google should have disclosed that ads would also appear in undesirable places such as error pages and undeveloped websites known as parked domains. A federal district court judge in 2012 ruled that the case could not move forward as a class action in part because each advertiser would receive different damages. Each advertiser would have paid a different sum for the ads in question, the judge said. The appeals court reversed the district court, prompting Google to ask the Supreme Court to intervene. LA jury reaches verdicts in penalty phase of ‘Grim Sleeper’ trial A Los Angeles jury that convicted a former sanitation worker in a string of murders attributed to a serial killer known as the “Grim Sleeper” reached verdicts on Monday in the penalty phase of the case, which could see him sentenced to death. Jurors in the case, who began deliberating on Friday morning, informed the court on Monday morning they had come to a decision, local media reported. The verdicts were scheduled to be heard later on Monday afternoon. The 12-member panel was charged with deciding whether 63-year-old Lonnie Franklin Jr., whom they found guilty last month following an 11-week trial, should face the death penalty or life in prison. Franklin was convicted on May 5 of shooting seven women to death between August 1985 and September 1988, then strangling a 15-year-old girl and strangling or shooting two other women in a second round of killings between March 2002 and January 2007. The jury also convicted Franklin of attempted murder for an attack on an 11th victim, Enierta Washington, who survived being shot in the chest, raped, pushed out of a car and left for dead in 1988. She testified against him at the trial. The 13½-year interval between the two spates of murders earned the killer the “Grim Sleeper” moniker. He was known to prey on prostitutes and drug addicts. Kanye cancels impromptu show, causes light rioting

ALL PHOTOS GETTY IMAGES

Why does Kanye have the world’s biggest ego? Maybe because we keep fanning it. In the wee hours of Sunday night/ Monday morning, the musical god — who was supposed to headline New York’s Governors Ball, which was abruptly canceled due to a storm — announce d he’d do an impromptu supersecret show at 2 a.m. But the power of Kanye was too great: Despite it being a school night, a few thousand fans quickly flocked to Webster Hall in the East Village, shutting down the block. As quickly as he had announced the show, West called it off, owing to too much demand (or rather a venue

that couldn’t contain all his followers). At least everyone took the news well: They partied a bit in the street, partook in some light vandalism and then moved to the Trump SoHo hotel, where he was alleged to have been staying. Kim Kardashian herself took to Instagram, snapping a picture of the throngs. “Kanye wished he could have per-

formed last night and really tried so hard but it was ultimately out of his control!” she wrote. “Promise he will make up this pop up show!”

Nick Cannon wants a chance at Eminem Can Nick Cannon take Eminem? Last week, Cannon issued an open rap challenge to anyone willing to shell out $100,000 as the prize. “Yo tell your favorite rapper I got a 100k to battle them June 25th at the BET EXPERIENCE! #WildStyle Who should I get? These rappers scared!” he tweeted. Despite reaching out to the likes of Tyga and the members of Slaughterhouse, Cannon is still on the lookout for a worthy opponent, he told U.K. radio host Tim Westwood. When Westwood expressed doubts that Cannon could win against Eminem, Cannon responded, “At least tell

him to show up to the match. I can’t win by default.” This call out could add fuel to a years-long fire that began back in 2009, when Mariah Carey — who was married to Cannon at the time — came out with a song called “Obsessed.” The media speculated that the song was about Eminem, who claimed the two were once in a relationship. Eminem responded with a brutal diss track called “The Warning,” which prompted Cannon to fire back with a diss track of his own. If Eminem accepts Cannon’s challenge, someone should tell both of them

that the early 2000s called — they want their impromptu rap battles back.

Maxim decides to capitalize on Jessica Alba’s ‘awkward’ experience Jessica Alba is InStyle’s July cover star and opened up to the mag about her struggles as a teenage sex symbol. “My sexuality made me very uncomfortable,” Alba tells InStyle. “I remember my first Maxim shoot, the were telling me to pose a certain way, and I was like, ‘Agh! I’m 19. I’m a virgin. I don’t even know how to do that.’ It was so awkward.” Alba, who rose to fame following her role on Fox’s 2002 series “Dark Angel,” appeared on the October 2000 Maxim cover next to the headline “Jesica Alba Spreads Her Wings.” If that’s not enough to make you cringe, Maxim is now patting itself on the back for creating a cover that “helped

establish the then-‘Dark Angel’ star as one of the sexiest young actresses in Hollywood,” alongside another gross headline: “Jessica Alba: I was still a virgin when I posed for my first Maxim cover shoot.” Meanwhile, the 35year-old “Mechanic: Resurrection” actress and founder of the billion-

dollar conscientious consumer product brand Honest Company, knew she was more than just a trashy headline and exposed abs. “I sort of went through a life crisis,” she continues. “I was like, ‘This isn’t what I set out to be. I’m so much more than this, but I don’t know how not to be a sex symbol.’”

Give Bebop and Rocksteady their own movie Stephen Farrelly, aka “Sheamus,” is a WWE wrestler. Gary Anthony Williams is an actor known for “The Boondocks” and “Whose Line is It Anyway?” They might not seem to have much in common, and they didn’t know each other before getting cast as, respectively, Rocksteady and Bebop, the mutated henchmen in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.” But you wouldn’t know that sitting in a room with them. A chat with them is lousy with detours and jokes.

Stephen Farrelly (aka Sheamus) and Gary Anthony Williams play beloved henchmen Rocksteady and Bebop, seen here pre- and post-mutation, in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.” PARAMOUNT PICTURES

This isn’t one of those gritty reboots. It’s a lot like a live-action version of the cartoon from the ’80s and ’90s. Gary Anthony Williams: We both grew up on the Turtles, and the version we grew up on was the one on television — the cartoon from long, long ago. Not so much the comic books; some of those are grittier. I like that fun-ness of this. Our

guys are big, violent, tearstuff-up guys. But they have a fun-ness to them. Stephen Farrelly: I did second-guess it when I asked, “Who’s Bebop?” They said, “Gary Anthony Williams.” I was like, “OK, I don’t want to do this now.” You guys have good banter. How quickly did you realize that? Farrelly: Right away we hit it off. It was really weird. Just two dudes hitting it off. Have you hung out since the movie wrapped? Farrelly: Contractually we’re not allowed to. Williams: But we’ve broken that contract. Farrelly: I’ve stayed at his house a few times. He’s very adamant about leaving the toilet seat down. I have to bring my own toilet paper. That’s kind of weird. How much did you do once your characters are turned into CGI beasts?

Farrelly: There was a weight gain of 5,000, lots of cosmetic surgery. I’ve still got the stretch marks, even though I’ve lost all the weight. But it was so much fun. When we wrapped shooting it was a sad moment. Williams: Even today is sad. We’ve been all around each other again this weekend. This part is about to be over; now the movie’s out. Now we’ve got to wait until Michael Bay decides if he’s going to do another one and if we’re going to be in it. He hasn’t made the threequel official? Williams: Legally I can’t say anything. Legally I can’t go to his house and watch what he does through his window.

What on earth does Michael Bay do at home? Williams: That’s what I wanted to know. Now I can’t know, because of — what’s it called? A restraining order? Bunch of bull. MATT PRIGGE

Like “Blue Ruin” and “Green Room,” “Cold in July” is a thriller with a great hook: What if the heroes were regular folk? What if they were not only in way over their heads but frequently acted stupid, as most of us probably would in hairy circumstances? The half-wit in Jim Mickle’s goose-bumper is played by Michael C. Hall: a yokel with a mal-formed

mullet who accidentally guns down an intruder, then has to contend with the guy’s menacing ex-con father (Sam Shepard). The story keeps twisting and shape-shifting, eventually turning from one film into another. Even better, it continues the Don Johnsonaissance, eventually pairing the star of “Miami Vice” with the playwright of “The Buried Child” — as you do.

A great New York movie and a great Paul Newman movie, Robert Rossen’s 1961 pool shark drama is also a ’70s movie that arrived a decade early. Newman’s “Fast Eddie” Felson is a jerk who needs to be schooled, but whose redemption won’t come until he’s destroyed all those near and dear to him. Here’s where we put in a good word for its improbable 1985 sequel, Martin Scorsese’s “Color of Money.” Though it can’t touch the first, it’s every bit as deeply felt, catching up with a character undone by age, regret and Tom Cruise.

‘JURASSIC PARK’

Sam Neill tries not to become T. rex chow in 1993’s “Jurassic Park.” UNIVERSAL PICTURES

Did we really turn the lame “Jurassic World” into a billion dollar hit? Whoops! Like a one night stand you regret come sunrise, the reboot stomped all over the summer movie season despite its considerable dodginess. Luckily we can atone by firing up Netflix and watching at least the 1993 original, in which Steven Spielberg wows us with still sharp-looking dinos then flips that wonder on its head, terrorizing us with a relentless back half. The two sequels, also on Instant, aren’t as loved, but they each have their trashy pleasures.

CeeLo Green wants a Gnarls Barkley comeback “Hey, let’s do another. LINDA LABAN @MetroNewYork letters@metro.us

CeeLo Green doesn’t want a summer vacation. He’s more than happy being out on the road, promoting his fifth album, “Heart Blanche, which was released last November. “I had some time off, Green says. “But what with the interesting twists and turns, and the leaps and bounds of this life I’m living, I don’t feel like I’m working. I don’t want any time off, he declares, speaking from Manchester, England, on the final day of his European tour. Once back stateside, he begins The Love Train Tour Part 2 tour in New York City with a waterside performance to launch the Circle Live Summer Concert Series. Following a controversial couple of years, including public backlash and extremely illadvised tweets, the former “The Voice judge says this smaller venue tour is special.

“I like that I’ve done all these wonderful places and I don’t see it differently, really. The goal is to always immediately embrace my audience and connect with the fans. Logistically, that’s easier to do in a smaller theater. Besides, the 42-year-old Atlanta native adds, “after 20 years, this is my thank you to my fans for their loyalty and support, and that’s best said in an intimate venue. Before “The Voice turned the five-time Grammy Award winner into a larger than life personality on the small screen, he had already found another fame outside of the hip-hop community with Gnarls Barkley, a project with Danger Mouse. After two celebrated albums, “St. Elsewhere and “The Odd Couple, the latter released in 2011, and hit singles like the riveting soul song “Crazy, Green is eager to get Gnarls together again. “There will be another Gnarls Barkley album and I think sooner rather than later, he says. “I’ve written a vignette

for another project I’m calling Gnarly Davidson, it’s a play on Harley Davidson. It has a ring to it, I thought. I’ve written a handful of songs that have a familiarity [to Gnarls Barkley]. I’m egging [Danger Mouse] on, saying, ‘Hey, let’s do another,’ he says. For now, he’s more than content bringing “Heart Blanche to life each night. Green says he didn’t have anything in particular in mind when he wrote the record. Rather, he just allowed random thoughts form the songs. “I don’t want to be in control of a song, I want the spirit to come through. Music is alive. It picked me as its dwelling. Shoulder Arthritis Treatments Keeping Boomers Active Into Their 60’s, 70’s Even 80’s? If you suffer with painful shoulder arthritis – science may have ďŹ nally found the answer you’ve been looking for. Here is why: Researchers have discovered an natural gel like medicine that is like “joint oil.â€? This all-natural gel is one of the naturally occurring lubricating substances in your shoulder joint that cushions and lubricates the joint which dries out over time due to wear-and-tear, age or injury. But when doctors precisely place this lubricating gel into your shoulder joint by using advanced digital imaging technology – it is like putting oil on a rusty door hinge. It lubricates the joint and can decrease pain and stiffness. For some, results can be dramatic and last for months. Years for some. Often times shoulder surgery can be avoided.

It may sound gross, but don’t let the name throw you off. “If you explain that it’s sort of like a chicken stock that’s made with better quality ingredients and cooked for a much longer time, then people start to understand what it really is,

Want to try it? Here’s what’s cooking at Springbone Kitchen: Served in coffee cups, the restaurant’s bone broth is a perfect meal if you’re looking for something to consume on-the-go. For a hearty bone broth without an overpowering taste, try the Chakra, a chicken-based broth that blends sweet potato with turmeric for a mild but creamy concoction. You can also customize your own mix with an assortment of meats, vegetables and exotic add-ins like kelp flakes and golden milk, a liquid made from turmeric and coconut milk. And for the non-meat eaters, the restaurant offers a vegan-friendly seaweed miso broth.

tein that’s supposed to reduce wrinkles and get rid of cellulite. “The claim is that, by drinking the broth,

you get the collagen attached to the bones and ligaments in it,” says Lisa Sasson, clinical associate professor of nutrition at NYU Steinhardt. But the science behind this doesn’t necessarily add up, she con-

tinues. “It’s not like we consume collagen and it becomes collagen in our body; it’s broken down into amino acids that the body is going to use wherever it needs building blocks or protein.” Though bone broth might not lead straight to the fountain of youth, Sasson adds that the minerals and electrolytes in it still provide nutritional value. “It’s healthy,” she says. “It’s just not magical.” In fact, Feldman decided to open Springbone Kitchen after discovering bone broth’s health benefits for himself. After injuring his knee, he came across an article about the dish. “I was kind of skeptical, but I gave it a try,” he says. “Within a couple weeks, my knee honestly started getting a whole lot better. I was kind of sold from that point forward.” You can decide on bone broth’s merits for yourself by making it in your own kitchen. We’ve got you covered with a recipe for homemade chicken bone broth — check it out below.

Make your own bone broth at home Chicken bone broth recipe provided by Jordan Feldman

• 1 small bunch french thyme • Salt to taste

6. Strain 7. Salt to taste

Yields 2 gallons of broth:

Directions: 1. Roast bones at 400 degrees until brown 2. Place bones, vegetables and vinegar in stock pot; cover with water 3. Bring to a rolling boil, then reduce to a simmer 4. Simmer for 12-24 hours 5. Add fresh thyme for the last hour

Liquid gold For a nourishing “breakfast in a cup,” blend 1 cup of the chicken broth with 1/4 cup of coconut milk and freshly grated turmeric, says Feldman. “The protein of the broth, healthy fat from the coconut milk and anti-inflammatory power of turmeric combine for a real breakfast of champions.”

Ingredients: • 6 pounds of chicken bones (mix of feet, necks, frames and wing tips is ideal) • 4 large carrots • 3 large onions • 1 clove smashed garlic • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Who’s on first for the Yankees? The Yanks need someone to step up in Mark Teixeira’s absence. ROBERT CRISCOLA @ItsGood2BeKing sports@metro.us

A bad season for Mark Teixeira got even worse on Saturday when the erstwhile All-Star was forced to go on the 15-day DL with a right knee injury. Teixeira underwent an MRI that revealed an articular cartilage tear after leaving Friday night’s game in the third inning, and there’s currently no timetable for his return. Season-ending surgery is not out of the question. “[The knee’s] been sore and swollen … but I’ve played with knee pain the last 10 years of my whole career,” Teixeira told ESPN on Saturday. “You don’t really think anything of it. You treat it and you ice it and you do the things that you always do. Nothing feels good right now. My body just hasn’t worked right this year.” That statement is con-

firmed by Teixeira’s poor statistical performance; he’s batting .180 on the year with just three home runs. So now that the Yankees will be without Teixeira for the foreseeable future, let’s take a look at the options the Bombers have within the organization to replace him.

Chris Parmelee Chris Parmelee, a 28-yearold journeyman who spent several years with Minnesota before splitting time with Baltimore and their Triple-A affiliate last year, was called up on Saturday, seemingly to take Teixeira’s spot. However, Joe Girardi did not start Parmelee either Saturday or Sunday. Parmelee saw the ball well in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, hitting .252 in 172 PAs with seven homers and 21 RBIs. He also compiled 21 walks compared to just 31 strikeouts. Parmelee’s plate discipline could help jump-start a Yankees offense that’s currently mired at 26th overall in OBP (.301). Of course, he won’t come close to representing

the power threat that Teixeira poses; Parmelee has a grand total of 28 home runs in parts of six seasons, while Teixeira knocked in 31 just last year.

Rob Refsnyder Rob Refsnyder started both Saturday and Sunday’s game at first base after taking over the position on Friday night, a somewhat surprising call by Girardi. Refsnyder went 1-for-10 while handling first base duties over the weekend. Refsnyder was being groomed in spring training to play third base but it didn’t go well, and he wound up beginning the season in Triple-A. Called up in late May, Refsnyder has hit well in limited appearances, batting .250 (four doubles and a single) with four RBIs in 20 ABs this year. He posted a .302 average in 43 ABs in 2015.

Chase Headley Chase Headley, the Yankees’ everyday third baseman, has played a handful of games at first in his tenure with New

York. However, Girardi’s decision to stick with Refsnyder at first in the early going with Headley manning the hot corner all weekend is probably a good indicator that Headley won’t be shifting across the diamond much, if at all. If Headley were to start some games at first, that would likely

open the door for Ronald Torreyes to get some more ABs.

Alex Rodriguez A-Rod’s name will pop up here and there if Teixeira misses an extended period of time, especially if the Yankees don’t get production at first, but

Rodriguez seems like a longshot option. “He just wasn’t comfortable doing it, so you have to deal with it in another way,” Girardi told Lohud.com, alluding to A-Rod’s 9.2 total innings he played at first base last season, which is the only major league experience he has at the position.

San Fran has lost two straight games and has seen its lead get shrunk to 3½ games in the NL West. Johnny Cueto is tied for the league-lead in wins with nine, though, which is encouraging. They host the Red Sox for a pair of games this week.

The Nationals remain at the top of the NL East standings and have a plus-54 run differential, which is second in the NL - only trailing the Cubs. Daniel Murphy continues to be the best overall hitter in baseball.

Playing at Camden Yards during the summer, the Orioles are going to score a lot of runs, which is already a reason why they are at the top of the AL East standings. They just need to pitching to come together. Mark Trumbo has 18 homers this year.

Winners of five straight games, the Indians have jumped to the top of the AL Central standings. Their plus-46 run differential is the third-best in the AL, which is a good sign moving forward. Danny Salazar now has the best ERA in the AL.

Toronto is one of the hottest teams in the league as it has won eight of its last 10. The Jays took two-of-three from the Red Sox at Fenway this past weekend. Marco Estrada took a no-hitter into the eighth against a tough Sox lineup.

Texas is one of the hottest teams in the game as it has won eight of its last 10 to now lead the AL West by three games. The AL West is one of the worst divisions in baseball, but that doesn’t matter to the Rangers as they can’t help who is on their schedule.

The Red Sox have a plus-69 run differential which leads the American League, but their pitching is still a concern. The bullpen hasn’t been dependable at all and they may need to find help from outside of the organization.

It’s been status quo for the Mets of late as they have been consistently playing .500 ball and are two games back in the NL East. From the mound, they are led once again by Noah Syndergaard and his 1.91 ERA.

It was a tough week for the Mariners as they have dropped three straight and seven of their last 10 to trail the Rangers by three games in the AL West - one of the worst divisions in baseball. Also, Felix Hernandez has landed on the DL.

Giants still seek a Collins sidekick New York is still searching for a safety to place next to Landon Collins. TONY WILLIAMS @TBone8 sports@metro.us

The safety position may be the last line of defense, but for the Giants it’s at the forefront of their concern. Last year, general manager Jerry Reese appeared to hit it big with Landon Collins in the second round, but there’s been a glaring hole opposite the budding star since. The race to be Collins’ wingman has been a competitive one, as there are at least five candidates fighting for that one spot. The leader in the clubhouse is seemingly second-year safety Nat Berhe. The fifth-rounder out of San Diego State has been receiving the lion’s share of reps in the organized team activities [OTAs], which is a good sign considering he had mostly all of his rookie campaign marred by a calf injury. He’s likely the most versatile of the entrants with his ability to play in the box (the area around the line of scrimmage) and as a deep centerfielder in pass coverage. He noted the crowded safety room, but said it’s been a fun and friendly competition and that everyone is helpful toward one another, despite the cutthroat nature of NFL camps. “For me, I’m cool with everybody. I feel no certain way toward anybody in that room,” Berhe said. “We all understand this is a business and we all understand this is a competition. Each day is a new day and each day you get better. We just come out here and we compete, but you compete against yourself. The competition is between you.” Cooper Taylor is one of those competitors. He’s also another holdover that has seen his chances dimmed due to injuries. Highly talented and a physical specimen (6-foot4, 230 pounds), Taylor just can’t seem to stay on the field long enough to be properly evaluated — and his cause continues to be hurt due to a sports hernia that he’s currently rehab-

Big Blue notebook: • Per usual, wideout Victor Cruz wasn’t a full participant, as he was primarily seen running with a trainer, who was holding a resistance band behind him. • Jason Pierre-Paul said he will be out of the country on the oneyear anniversary of his fireworks accident: “Where I’m going they don’t celebrate the Fourth of July.” • Pierre-Paul also noted that his once heavily bandaged right hand will no longer possess a giant club on game days, adding he’ll simply wear a customfitted glove. • The former Pro Bowler said the club was the primary reason for many of his missed tackles and why he only registered one sack in his eight games. bing. The theme of recovering safeties is a tiring one around the Giants’ facilities, as two other names — Mykkele Thompson and Bennett Jackson — are also coming off season-ending injuries. The former is a second-year player who had his rookie season ruined by a torn Achilles during offseason workouts, while the latter is a converted cornerback who tore his knee during the preseason and was never able to capitalize on his strong spring performances. Of all the candidates, however, perhaps the best shot to start alongside Collins is rookie Darian Thompson. Scouts during the pre-draft process, the Giants’ coaching staff and his own teammates have raved about the thirdrounder out of Boise State. He’s quickly caught the attention of all around him for his playmaking abilities and assertiveness on the field and in the huddle. If Berhe is receiving a majority of the first-team reps in OTAs, Thompson has gotten the rest. He’s performed so well that new head coach Ben McAdoo went out of his way to heap some praise on the rookie’s performance on Monday. The final team drill was a two-

a knee. He had enough awareness to know that the game was over at that point in time with the offense only having one timeout and under 50 seconds,” McAdoo said. “I believe that was what was
