Why Viagra Is Failing Men Unlike Viagra®, Latest advance is made just for older men’s problems. Works on both your physical ability and your desire in bed. Special discounts available to the public for next 36-hours only. By Harlan S. Waxman Health News Syndicate New York – If you’re like the rest of us guys over 50; you probably already know the truth… “Viagra® doesn’t work! Simply getting an erection doesn’t fix the problem” says Dr. Bassam Damaj, chief scientific officer at the world famous Innovus Pharma Laboratories. As we get older, we need more help in bed. Not only does our desire fade; but erections can be soft or feeble, one of the main complaints with Viagra®. Besides, Viagra® is expensive… costing as much as $50.00 a pill. Plus, it does nothing to stimulate your brain to want sex. “I don’t care what you take, if you aren’t interested in sex, you can’t get or keep an erection. It’s physiologically impossible,” said Dr. Damaj.
MADE JUST FOR MEN OVER 50 But now, for the first time ever, there’s a pill made just for older men. It’s called Vesele®. A new pill that helps you get an erection by stimulating your body and your brainwaves. So Vesele® can work even when nothing else worked before. The new men’s pill is not a drug. It’s something completely different Because you don’t need a prescription for Vesele®, sales are exploding. The maker just can’t produce enough of it to keep up with demand. Even doctors are having a tough time getting their hands on it. So what’s all the fuss about?
WORKS ON YOUR HEAD AND YOUR BODY The new formula takes on erectile problems with a whole new twist. It doesn’t just address the physical problems of getting older; it works on the mental part of sex too. Unlike Viagra®, the new pill stimulates your sexual brain chemistry as well. Actually helping you regain the passion and burning desire you had for your partner again. So you will want sex with the hunger and stamina of a 25-year-old.
results were remarkable and published in the world’s most respected medical journals.
THE SCIENCE OF SEX The study asked men, 45 to 65 years old to take the main ingredient in Vesele® once a day. Then they were instructed not to change the way they eat or exercise but to take Vesele® twice a day. What happened next was remarkable. Virtually every man in the study who took Vesele® twice a day reported a huge difference in their desire for sex. In layman’s terms, they were horny again. They also experienced harder erections that lasted for almost 20 minutes. The placebo controlled group (who received sugar pills) mostly saw no difference.
creation of Vesele®. It’s sure-fire proof that the mind/body connection is unbeatable when achieving and maintaining an erection and the results are remarkable” said Dr. Damaj. (His findings are illustrated in the charts below.)
JAW-DROPPING CLINICAL PROOF Satisfaction—Increase from 41.4% to 88.1% Frequency—Increase from 44.9% to 79.5% Desire—Increase from 47.9% to 82% Hardness—Increase from 36.2% to 85.7% Duration—Increase from 35% to 79.5% Hardness—Increase from 36.2% to 85.7% Ability to Satisfy—Increase from 44.1% to 83.3% AN UNEXPECTED BONUS: The study results even showed an impressive increase in the energy, brain-power and memory of the participants.
SUPPLY LIMITED BY OVERWHELMING DEMAND “Once we saw the results we knew we had a game-changer said Dr. Damaj. We get hundreds of calls a day from people begging us for a bottle. It’s been crazy. We try to meet the crushing demand for Vesele®.”
HERE’S WHAT MEN ARE SAYING • I’m ready to go sexually and mentally. • More frequent erections in the night (while sleeping) and in the morning. • I have seen a change in sexual desire. • Typically take 1 each morning and 1 each night. Great stamina results! • An increased intensity in orgasms. • My focus (mental) has really improved… Huge improvement. • Amazing orgasms! • I really did notice a great improvement in my ability.
HOW TO GET VESELE®
THE BRAIN/ERECTION CONNECTION Vesele takes off where Viagra® only begins. Thanks to a discovery made by 3 Nobel-Prize winning scientists; Vesele® has become the first ever patented supplement to harden you and your libido. So you regain your desire as well as the ability to act on it. In a 16-week clinical study; scientists from the U.S.A. joined forces to prove Nitric Oxide’s effects on the cardio vascular system. They showed that Nitric Oxide could not only increase your ability to get an erection, it would also work on your brainwaves to stimulate your desire for sex. The
New men’s pill overwhelms your senses with sexual desire as well as firmer, long-lasting erections. There’s never been anything like it before.
DOCTOR: “VESELE® PASSED THE TEST” “As a doctor, I’ve studied the effectiveness of Nitric Oxide on the body and the brain. I’m impressed by the way it increases cerebral and penile blood flow. The result is evident in the

FLORIDA TO BEGIN AERIAL SPRAYING TO CONTROL ZIKA
1
Florida will conduct an aerial insecticide spraying campaign at dawn on Wednesday in an effort to kill mosquitoes carrying the Zika virus, officials in Miami-Dade County said. The campaign will cover a 10-mile area that includes the 1-mile-square area just north of downtown Miami that health officials have identified as the hub of Zika transmission in the state, the officials said on Tuesday. On Monday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued an unprecedented travel warning, urging pregnant women to avoid travel to the Miami neighborhood at the center of the investigation. Florida health officials announced another non-travel-related case of Zika on Tuesday, bringing the total to 15. REUTERS
WASHINGTON POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH HELPING ISLAMIC STATE

A Washington transit police officer was arrested on charges he attempted to provide material support to Islamic State, the U.S. Justice Department said, the first member of law enforcement facing such charges involving a government-designated terrorist group. In July, Nicholas Young, who lives in Virginia, sent codes for gift cards worth $245 to an FBI informant. The gift cards were intended for mobilemessaging accounts that Islamic State uses to recruit its followers. Young believed the informant he was messaging was an acquaintance who was working with the militant group, according to court records. Young, who had worked for the transit authority since 2003, had been on the radar of federal law enforcement since 2010, according to an affidavit in the complaint filed in U.S. district court in Virginia on Tuesday. Just stick with DEET: NY AG Schneiderman targets products touted to prevent Zika The attorney general’s office stated that such devices do not ward off mosquitoes and may actually attract them. JASON NUCKOLLS @MetroNewYork

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has issued ceaseand-desist letters to companies marketing ineffective products that falsely promise protection against the Zika virus. On Wednesday, Schneiderman announced that the letters went to seven companies who advertised ultrasonic devices or botanical oil-based products as “Zika-protective” or “Zika-preventive” because they would repel mosquitoes when, in fact, the products have not been shown to effectively deter the insects. “Unfortunately, some companies are taking advantage of public concern about Zika to peddle products that simply don’t work,” Schneiderman said. “My office will not tolerate deceptive advertising of products that provide only a false sense of security against a real threat.” The ultrasonic devices claimed to work by emitting a high frequency that supposedly repels mosquitoes, but the attorney general’s office stated that such devices do not ward off mosquitoes and may ac-

Grand Central Terminal secrets revealed in show Series unveils hidden facts about the famed Manhattan train station.

NEHA BANKA KANORIA @MetroNewYork letters@metro.us
On any given day, 750,000 people pass through Grand Central Terminal, according to Metro North, making it one of the busiest hubs for commuters in the country. Amid all that hustle and bustle, as throngs of commuters, employees and tourists pass through its cavernous Grand Concourse and shopping and dining areas, how many stop to observe their surroundings? An eight-part series on “Secrets of America’s Favorite Places,” attempts to delve into the history of famous landmarks around the country to unearth little-known facts, with each part focusing on one iconic structure. While some of Grand Central’s secrets are known only to employees, others are open secrets. “Some are more accessible than others and some you can only unearth by talking to an expert or by finding an old out-of-print book,” explained Paul Sau-
er, senior series producer at Indigo Films for the Discovery Family Channel. The most well-known unofficial guide to Grand Central is Daniel Brucker, a longtime Metro-North Railroad employee, who has been working at Grand Central for more than 25 years. Beginning his tour at the information booth in the Grand
Concourse, Brucker described perhaps the most intriguing aspect and a well-known secret of Grand Central. “Within the terminal is a secret train station that was built during the Great Depression, [it] cost a lot of money and was built for one person only,” explained Brucker. President Franklin D. Roosevelt,
who had been paralyzed from the waist down by polio, a fact largely unknown to the public at that time, would arrive on his own private train to Grand Central. Inside of train cars would be his limousine. On the secret platform, an elevator was custommade to accommodate Roosevelt’s limousine and
Secret Service bodyguards. The elevator would carry Roosevelt, his car and his entourage directly to the Waldorf Astoria hotel, unseen by the public, the press and the Waldorf Astoria employees. The nowabandoned train car still lies in the depths of the terminal. A secret hiding in plain sight is inside the informa-
tion booth in the center of the Grand Concourse. A bronze cylindrical structure inside the booth conceals an old spiral stairway that employees inside the booth use to get to the lower level of the terminal. While looking at the giant clock on top of the booth, one wouldn’t even realize it’s made of opal, and valued today at a few million dollars by auction houses. Acorn and oak leaf motifs adorn everything from detailing on walls to adornments on lighting fixtures because they were the symbol of the Vanderbilt family, who built the original depot in 1871. One of the most visible rests atop the opal clock. Are there more undiscovered secrets that are waiting to be found? “The place is so vast and we only had five days to film this. Imagine if someone spent six months, how much more would they find,” said Sauer.

Autopsy: Woman jogging at Howard Beach strangled Body found in marshes where residents say homeless vagrants have been living. JASON NUCKOLLS @MetroNewYork
jason.nuckolls@metro.us
Police are investigating the death of a Queens woman who went missing after going for an evening jog near the Belt Parkway in Howard Beach as a homicide. Around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a report of a missing woman, 30-year-old Karina Vetrano, who was last seen leaving for a jog through Howard Beach’s parkland around 5 p.m., police said. After searching the area, authorities found her body in the
marshes near 161st Avenue and 78th Street. The medical examiner performed an autopsy on Wednesday and said Vetrano had been strangled, ABC7 New York reported. Sources have told the New York Daily News that her pants were pulled down, and officials believe she was sexually assaulted. “They found her phone over here [on the path]. … If these weeds weren’t this high, we would have seen her,” one area resident was quoted by the New York Post. Vetrano’s neighbors said that homeless vagrants live in the woods of the marsh, the Daily News added. They also said that Vetrano had been known to go jogging with her father, a retired FDNY firefighter, and that

she had recently earned a master’s degree from St. John’s University in 2015. NYPD Commissioner William Bratton called it a “horrific incident.” “If I understand correctly, during the search for her, when she did not come home, her father actually found her, so my heart goes out to him,” he said, ABC7 reported. The investigation remained ongoing, and no arrests have been made, police stated. Kimberly M. Aquilina contributed to this report.
Elmhurst Dairy, last bottler in NYC, to close Queens’ Elmhurst Dairy, the last operating dairy in New York City, has announced that it will be shutting down. On Tuesday, the company said that it will close its doors permanently on Oct. 30, Pix11 reported. The decision will affect 273 employees at the company’s facility in Jamaica. “People, for whatever reason, are not consuming as much milk as they were 30 and 40 years ago,” Elmhurst Dairy CEO Henry Schwartz said to NBC4, adding that products like soy milk and almond milk, which have longer shelf lives, have
diminished the market for fresh milk. Now, New York City will be without a functioning milk bottler for the first time in the city’s history, Pix11 added. There were more than 20 such operations as recently as 25 years ago. “My family was dedicated to trying to keep the plant open long past the years that it was economically viable because it was the wishes of its founder, Max Schwartz, that future generations of the family continue the business,” Henry Schwartz was quoted by QNS.com. “The family
did so at a very high cost but is unable to continue to do so without ongoing losses.” The company said it was pursuing ways to reuse its Jamaica factory site that would benefit the community economically, QNS.com reported, adding that the dairy, at its peak, catered to a market of 11 million people and turned out more than five million quarts of milk per week. Operating at its Jamaica location for eight decades, Elmhurst was known for supplying the milk to New York City’s public schools, NBC 4 added. JASON NUCKOLLS
SUBWAY FARE PETITION Subway riders’ group launches photo campaign for discounted MetroCards In an effort to make public transportation more accessible for low-income New Yorkers, an organization of transit riders has started a photo campaign to call attention to the sacrifices some passengers have to make in order to afford a MetroCard. On Wednesday, Riders Alliance, a collection of subway and bus riders who push for better service at affordable fares, launched a tour of subway stations in low-income neighborhoods, collecting photos in a “photo petition” for Mayor Bill de Blasio, the group stated. In the photos, passengers revealed why they needed more affordable MetroCards. “We are out here to show Mayor de Blasio the stories of New
Yorkers for whom a discount fare would make all the difference,” said Rebecca Bailin, campaign manager at Riders Alliance. “People shouldn’t have to think through elaborate calculations, walk miles in the heat or forgo meals to get around.” The photo petition, part of Riders Alliance’s Fair Fares campaign, began Wednesday with pictures of passengers at the 149th StreetGrand Concourse station in the Bronx, which is in a neighborhood marked by high levels of poverty, the group stated. In the photos, riders described going without food in order to cover their MetroCard costs. “That an entire population of New Yorkers is unable to use our subways and buses without resorting to these difficult choices means that we are denying communities the only link they have

to economic opportunity, medical care and New York City’s culture,” Bailin added. “But it doesn’t have to be this way, and Mayor de Blasio can help struggling New Yorkers get ahead.” Low-income New Yorkers were the segment of the population most dependent on public transportation, and the cost of a MetroCard could take up a full 10 percent of individuals’ budgets, according to a report from the independent Community Service Society, an organization that works to address economic disparity. Dozens indicted in crackdown on warring Brooklyn, Queens gangs DAs say gang members used social media to brag. KIMBERLY M. AQUILINA @MetroNewYork letters@metro.us
Dozens of alleged gang members were indicted this week on murder, attempted murder and other connected charges in parts of Brooklyn and Queens.
Crown Heights, Brooklyn Twenty-five alleged members of two Brooklyn gangs, the Lincoln Family and the Bergen Family,
who authorities said were involved in a turf war, were arrested, Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson and New York City Police Commissioner William J. Bratton said on
Wednesday. The Lincoln Family’s turf is bordered by Classon Avenue, Prospect Place, Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway. The Bergen Family’s turf is bordered by Bergen Street, Kingston Avenue, Park Place and Rogers Avenue. There is a one-block buffer between the two. The Brooklyn DA said the Crown Heights gangs used Facebook to plan and take credit for their violence as well as taunt each other. “This indictment underscores the continuing commitment of this office and the NYPD to take back the streets of Brooklyn from mindless gang and gun violence that puts so many people at risk, including in this case, an innocent 13-yearold girl,” Thompson said. Most of the defendants were arraigned on Tuesday and were being held without bail. As of Wednesday afternoon, three were still at large: Scott Hunter, 19; Elyejah Orr, 19, from Kane Place; and Ebony Brown, 21, of North Elliott Walk.
Far Rockaway, Queens In connection with the Crown Heights takedown, the Queens district attorney’s office also arrested 18 alleged members of the Far Rockaway street gang known as Pop On Site, which is also known as Fully Loaded Outta Control Crips and Young Flocc Boys, on murder, assault and gun charges. The alleged gang members — 16 from Far Rockaway, one from Astoria and another from the Bronx — were collectively indicted on 90 counts. Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said the gang, with members ranging in age from 16 to 22, controlled a section of Rockaway Beach between Beach 81st Street and Beach 86th Street and sought revenge on rival gangs who allegedly shot Pop On Site members. “The defendants are variously accused of turning neighborhood streets

into a war zone by acting in concert with one or more of their co-defendants to shoot and wound eight individuals over a one-year-period between 2014 and 2015,” Brown said. “Their alleged criminal and violent and reckless acts have no place in a civilized society.” The investigation uncovered telephone calls and social media posts, including photos and videos, “bragging” about the gang’s exploits, the Queens DA said. Code words like “drill,” “touched” and “its litt” were used to refer to shootings and “hammer,” “bitch” and “whoopity” were used for guns.
Flatbush, Brooklyn Thompson also announced that 18 alleged members of No Love City, a subset of the violent Folk Nation street gang, have been charged in a 76-count indictment with conspiracy to commit murder, weapons possession and other charges for multiple shootings throughout Brooklyn, including one that left a 25-year-old man dead and another that left a 60-yearold innocent woman paralyzed. “These defendants are not just crew members but part of a criminal enterprise that has been responsible for a significant amount of the violence which has plagued the Flatbush and Canarsie sections of Brooklyn over the last two years,” Bratton said. “I commend the investigators and prosecutors who developed a substantial case against this group.”

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus GETTY IMAGES
Reince Priebus was furious over the failure to endorse Ryan, who is the most senior elected Republican. Donald Trump’s White House campaign was in turmoil on Wednesday, with a senior Republican Party official furious over his criticism of a dead soldier’s family and his refusal to back the re-election campaign of House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan. Trump hit back on Tuesday at critics in the Republican leadership who have taken him to task for his insistent public dispute with the parents of the soldier, a Muslim U.S. Army captain killed in the Iraq war. In a revolt against the party, he denied both House Speaker Paul Ryan and Sen. John McCain support in their reelection bids. Reince Priebus worked to bring Trump into the party’s fold despite the New York businessman’s status as an outsider. Trump, who had never previously run for public office,
broke with party orthodoxy as he beat 16 rivals to become the White House nominee for the Nov. 8 election. Ahead of last month’s Republican Party convention, the RNC sought to rally the fractured party behind Trump. Priebus feels burned by Trump’s string of selfinflicted wounds and his refusal to observe basic decorum by giving Ryan his support. Trump, who made his comments about Ryan and McCain in an interview with The Washington Post, shrugged off the growing party backlash. “There is great unity in my campaign, perhaps greater than ever before. I want to thank everyone for your tremendous support. Beat Crooked H!” he wrote on Twitter early on Wednesday, referring to his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton. Campaign manager Paul Manafort sought to reinforce the message, telling Fox News Channel the campaign was moving in a positive direction, with the candidate himself in control. “The campaign is in
very good shape. We are organized. We are moving forward,” Manafort said. However, a Republican source said Manafort was struggling to get the candidate back on message. Trump’s always unruly campaign has been wracked by turmoil in recent days. On Monday, he fired a senior adviser, Ed Brookover, who had been hired to serve as a liaison between the campaign and the Republican National Committee. In better news for Trump, his campaign and the RNC jointly raised $80 million for his White House bid in July, the campaign said on Wednesday. That was less than the $90 million Clinton raised along with the national Democratic Party the same month, but it was a substantial bump from past months. A former reality TV star with a propensity for free-flowing insults, Trump has won support particularly from white blue-collar workers who feel neglected by the political establishment REUTERS

Facebook to let emerging market companies sell through their pages Facebook Inc. will let small businesses in emerging markets sell to customers for free through their Facebook pages, the social media company said on Wednesday, marking a new effort to build up potential advertisers in its fastest-growing regions. The move is Facebook’s latest foray onto online commerce in emerging markets. The company launched a service last year allowing some merchants to sell items through paid ads on Facebook’s app. The latest service will instead be free, and users can view products through merchants’ own Facebook pages. By making sellers

more reliant on Facebook, the company hopes that more businesses in emerging markets will eventually decide to become paying advertisers. “If a business is seeing value from their page, there is a higher opportunity that they could be an advertiser,” said Benji Shomair, product market-
ing director of Facebook Pages, in an interview. Facebook, whose stock hit its all-time high last week after reporting sharp growth in ad sales, has about 3 million active advertisers. But there are more than 60 million businesses worldwide using its service that can set up pages for free in
an attempt to reach more customers out of Facebook’s 1.7 billion global monthly users. Southeast Asia is Facebook’s fastest-growing region for users, but it still makes far more money off users in the United States and Canada. The company made average revenue of $13.74 per North American user in the second quarter, compared with an average of $1.74 per user in the Asia-Pacific region. The hugely popular Facebook app and website has largely saturated Western markets and is turning to emerging markets for growth, both in users and advertising dollars. REUTERS

The Obama administration said on Wednesday that $400 million in cash paid to Iran soon after the release of five Americans detained by Tehran was not ransom for them as some Republicans have charged. The five, including Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, were released on Jan. 16 in exchange for seven Iranians held in the United States for sanctions violations. The prisoner deal coincided with the lifting of international sanctions against Tehran. At the time, the United States said it had settled a longstanding Iranian claim at the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal in The Hague, releasing $400 million in funds frozen since 1981, plus $1.3 billion in interest that was owed to Iran.

The funds were part of a trust fund Iran used before its 1979 Islamic Revolution to buy U.S. military equipment that was tied up for decades in litigation at the tribunal. “The link between prisoner release and payment to Iran are completely false,” State Department spokesman John Kirby said on Twitter
in response to a Wall Street Journal article that Washington secretly organized the cash airlift. White House spokesman Josh Earnest heatedly beat back suggestions the money transfer to Iran was ransom, or a secret. “The United States, under President Obama, has not paid a ransom to secure the release of Americans unjustly detained in Iran and we’re not going to pay a ransom,” he said at a daily White House briefing. Earnest said the Republicans who have long opposed the Iran nuclear deal are seizing on how the money was paid to Iran as a way to undermine the deal. “They’re struggling to justify their opposition to our engagement with Iran,” he said. Supreme Court blocks bathroom choice for transgender student The case is the first time the fight over transgender bathroom rights has reached the Supreme Court. A Virginia school board may temporarily block a transgender student who was born a girl from using the boys’ bathroom while a legal fight over transgender rights proceeds on appeal, the U.S. Supreme Court said on Wednesday. In a brief order, the Supreme Court stayed an order from a lower court that had permitted the high school student to use the bathroom of his choice. The eight-member court voted 5-3 to stay the lower court’s order. Justices Ruth Bader Gins-

Study: Suicide rate of US veterans rose one third since 2001 The suicide rate among American veterans has increased by nearly a third since 2001, a bigger rise than in the wider population of the United States, a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs study released on Wednesday said. The report estimated that an average of 20 veterans a day died from suicide in 2014, or about 7,300 in the year, compared to a previous estimate of 22 a day. But researchers have cautioned against relying too heavily on that figure to indicate trends in suicides because it does not take into account that the overall number of veterans is declining because of deaths from old age. study of veteran suicides drew from 55 million veterans’ records from 1979 to 2014 and from every U.S. state, the report said. Previous studies were more limited in scope and drew from three million records from 20 states or from records of those using veterans health services. The study found
that between 2001 and 2014, veteran suicides increased by 32 percent, while civilian suicides increased by 23 percent in the same time period. After controlling for factors like age and gender, this meant veterans faced a 21 percent greater risk for suicide than those who had not served in the armed forces. The report did not provide numbers associated with the percentages it recorded and a department representative could not immediately be reached to provide more information. While the suicide rate was highest among younger veterans, aged 18 to 29, most veteran suicides — 65 percent — in 2014 were among those 50 or older. REUTERS

Pokemon no-go: NJ resident sues over trespassing players A New Jersey man has a message for the millions of players obsessed with the mobile game Pokemon Go: “Get off my lawn!” Jeffrey Marder of West Orange has filed a federal class action against the companies behind the game, Nintendo Co. Ltd., Niantic Inc and Pokemon Company International, claiming it has brought unwanted trespassers to his house and countless other private properties. Using mobile devices, players search for and capture virtual characters that appear on their screens in real-life locations such as offices and restaurants. The immensely popular game has prompted numerous safety concerns and complaints. Within days of its launch, four Missouri teenagers used it to lure unsuspecting victims into armed robber-

and “gyms,” where players can earn valuable items or engage other users in battles. Many of those sites are either on or adjacent to private property, according to Marder’s lawsuit, which was filed in federal court in Oakland, California, near the San Francisco headquarters of Niantic. “Plaintiff discovered as much when, during the week of Pokemon Go’s
ies, according to police; the game was blamed for an illegal border crossing from Canada into the United States last month by two young players who lost track of their surroundings. The U.S. Holocaust Museum asked players not to use the game on its premises, calling it “extremely inappropriate.” Some places have been designated by the game’s designers as “Pokestops”
release, strangers began lingering outside of his home with their phones in hand,” the lawsuit said, adding that five people knocked on Marder’s door seeking access to his backyard to capture creatures in his yard. The lawsuit, which seeks class-action status for all people who own property that is either designated as a Pokemon site or is adjacent to such a location, appears to be the first of its kind since the game launched in July. Representatives for Pokemon Go did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Nintendo holds a 32 percent stake in Pokemon Company, which developed the game jointly with Niantic. The game has increased Nintendo’s market value by 50 percent since its debut. REUTERS

Jared Leto does his own twist on the Joker in “Suicide Squad.” WARNER BROS. PICTURES
wknd THE FUN STARTS HERE
Jared Leto brings the crazy The actor says reading what they say about you on social media is “like eating your own vomit.” LUCÍA HERNÁNDEZ Metro World News letters@metro.us
“Have you seen the movie? Did you like it? Do you think the Joker is OK?” Jared Leto rattles off as soon as we sit down. The Oscar winner is eager to get the verdict on his performance as the Joker in “Suicide Squad” — but he doesn’t dare read fans’ reactions on social media. After all, Gotham City’s resident madman has been played by some of the greats: Jack Nicholson, Mark Hamill (who voiced him in the animated series) and, of course, Heath Ledger, whose performance Leto
describes as “perfect.” When do you plan to see the movie? I won’t! I haven’t even watched the trailers. How did you feel about the character when you read the script? The Joker is a character so alive, so nuanced that you can’t put all of it on a page. It’s a dream. He is the most tridimensional character I’ve ever played. I played some wild ones before, but the Joker is a character without any rules. There is no right or wrong answer. I can jump on the table and pull my hands down or cut your lips off — they are both good choices. He is out of his mind in such an intoxicated way. In his mind, the sun, the Earth, the moon are all orbiting around him. So it’s a really powerful place to be.
It’s really fun. Could you tell I was having fun? Yes. And this Joker has a mob mentality. Yeah. We looked at cartel leaders. I’m not going to say which one in particular. You can see the gold medallion, some of the bling and the outfits, which are very much like a cartel leader. Which Joker outfit was your favorite? I liked the tuxedo, it’s the best. There’s something about the elegance that made it feel really good. What has been the feedback so far? I haven’t had any feedback. Until now I haven’t talked to anyone who has seen the movie. You know, the people could love it or hate it. I don’t know. I did the best that I could do. I worked the hardest that I could work.
I was the bravest that I could be. And that’s all I can really ask of myself. You mention Heath Ledger, who left quite an imprint on that character. Did any inspiration come from him? The inspiration that Heath gave me was the fearlessness that he had. Heath gave a perfect performance. It was so beautiful. Not only was it just the perfect villain or the perfect Joker. It was one of the best performances in film. If you look at what he did in that movie, it’s absolutely incredible, but you can’t go anywhere near what he did. He did one, Jack Nicholson made another. … The good thing about their Jokers is that they’re so good that you have to go in a total different direction. So, for me, it was actually a blessing that there have been these
beautiful performances, because I knew we had to walk a whole new path. Are you planning at some point to read what they say about your Joker on social media? No, no, no. Why would I do that? It would be like eating my own vomit. It’s the craziest thing you can do in the internet era. You know, that’s why I do music. The connection that a gig gives me is the closest I can be to the fans. That’s why we [Thirty Seconds to Mars] are making a new album.

Hannibal Buress doesn’t know Lincoln’s fate, either “New York is going to fall into the ocean anyway, so he should get out of there.”
The fourth season of “The Eric Andre Show” premieres Aug. 5 at midnight on Cartoon Network. GETTY IMAGES
RACHEL RACZKA @rachelraczka

Hannibal Buress seems to hate dumb interviews. Especially after the hundredth reporter asks him about “that Cosby joke,” and he hangs up the phone. But we’re not talking about Cosby, and that’s fine. There’s plenty to discuss. The 33-year-old Chicago native has been going nonstop. The fourth season of Adult Swim’s late night talk show “The Eric Andre Show” premieres Aug. 5, a few months after the third season of Comedy Central’s “Broad City” ended and “The Secret Life of Pets” debuted in theaters. Roles in Joe Swanberg’s new Netflix series “Easy” and anticipated films like “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Baywatch” are
also on the horizon. On “Eric Andre,” Buress appears as the straight-laced sidekick to the totally chaotic host — except the rare charged moment, like when he kicks guest Flava Flav in the face. Wait, what? “Didn’t you watch the trailer?,” Buress
asks in disbelief. “Watch it again.” When you’re in New York, how often do you get stopped by people calling you Lincoln? A couple times a week — I used to correct people. I used to say, “Hey, Lincoln is a character. My name is Hannibal.” But

now I just let it go. What’s going on with season four of “Eric Andre”? It’s gonna be the same thing, just different people. We’ve got some good guests, and they’re getting weirdly better each season. That’s something I’m surprised

hamburger meat.
Is it still weird when the cameras stop rolling? When the cameras stop rolling, I’ll go to the office and check email, make some phone calls, write two jokes, listen to music — it’s low-key crazy stuff.
Going back to “Broad City,” what’s going to happen to Lincoln? Is he done with the show now that he and Ilana broke up? No, I don’t know anything. I don’t write for that show.
What are you listening to now? Oddisee‘s “Catching Vibes,” and this track I had on repeat yesterday was one that came up on Pandora. It’s called “The Pseudo Nymph,” by Flying Lotus, and it’s got [DJ] Thundercat playing over it. It’s a good motivation, get-going song. I listened to it like eight times.
All right, then what do you hope happens to Lincoln? I hope he gets his own dental practice and franchises out and moves to the Midwest, like Chicago. New York is going to fall into the ocean anyway, so he should get out of there.
Speaking of, can we chat for a minute about your DJ name — DJ Burgerfeet? Where did that come from? I’ve got ugly feet, so I decided to say DJ Burgerfeet because my feet look like
That’s incredibly graphic. Thank you.

Advisory firms are ranked by total assets under management. To land on the list, firms had to have a focus on financial and retirement planning for individual and high-net-worth clients. And institutional clients do not make up a substantial portion of their businesses. Finally, none of these firms are owned by a bank, broker/dealer or investment company. Investor experience/returns were not considered as part of this ranking. A complete list of awards won can be requested by contacting the firm at (888)-PLAN-RIC. 4According to Barron’s, “The formula [used] to rank advisors has three major components: assets managed, revenue produced and quality of the advisor’s practice. Investment returns are not a component of the rankings because an advisor’s returns are dictated largely by each client’s risk tolerance. The quality-of-practice component includes an evaluation of each advisor’s regulatory record.”The rankings are based on the universe of applications submitted to Barron’s. The selection process begins with a nomination and application provided to Barron’s. Principals of Edelman Financial Services, LLC self-nominated the firm and submitted quantitative and qualitative information to Barron’s as requested. We love actress Juliette Lewis for her many fierce performances — from Martin Scorsese’s “Cape Fear” to her current role on ABC’s “Secrets and Lies.” But she’s a committed rocker, too. This summer sees the 43-yearold’s first U.S. tour in several years following the disbandment and reunion of Juliette and the Licks, just months after Michael Rapaport’s careerspanning doc, “Hard Lovin’ Woman,” debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival. Now, she’ll tour with Rage Against the Machine’s Brad Wilk, collaborator Juan Alderete of Mars Volta and former Licks collaborator Todd Morse, as a new EP takes shape. Ever the multitasker, Lewis spoke with us on the phone from outside a grocery store in L.A. Your single “Hello Hero” has a dancier feel to it. Is all the new material like that too? It’s funny, because “Hello, Hero” has this big bottom end and a big, funky

bass. And the next single is a song called “Any Way You Want” that’s really soulful rock and roll. Those are the two sides of me. There’s this ferocious little rocker and then a girl who wants to celebrate and take everybody with me and have a dance party. How is the emotional release different with music versus acting? Music is instantaneous. I can be feeling frustration, confusion, longing, joy and I can write a song in 10 minutes and play the song that night. They’re both storytelling, but acting is more insular. I love disappearing into the emotional truths of a different person. So music
is my truth and acting is the complexities of humanity told through other peoples’ stories. You’ve said you listened to Jimi Hendrix every day while filming “Natural Born Killers” to help create the character of Mallory. Have you done that for other roles? For “Cape Fear,” I was listening to all ’50s girl groups like the Shirelles, the Chantells ... all these girls just singing about longing. There was something slightly juvenile in it, because that’s a pubescent heart — it’s all about your relationship to love, or the wanting of a man. The beautiful thing about music is that within 10 seconds, from just a note or a sound, you can feel. It’s a shortcut to one’s emotion. JEREMY D. GOODWIN
“Suicide Squad” Director: David Ayer Stars: Will Smith, Margot Robbie Rating: PG-13 “Suicide Squad” is a renegade superhero movie, but not in the way you’d think. It’s been sold as the one where the heroes are baddies. But what’s really unusual about “Suicide Squad” is this: It’s the rare one that truly feels like it came from one person’s wackadoodle vision. It plays more like the next film by David Ayer (“Fury”) than a franchise-builder — though, of course, it’s that, too. Its adventure is even simple, almost minimalist, at least for a comic book movie. It’s a badasses-on-a-mission romp — “The Dirty Dozen” only with superpowers. The team — most prominently Will Smith’s mega-hitman Deadshot and Margot Robbie’s superpsycho Harley Quinn — assemble by force, at the behest of a shady government goon (Viola Davis)
“Suicide Squad” is the comic book movie about villains — but that’s not what makes it special. WARNER BROS. PICTURES
scarier than any of them. They need to save the world, in this case from an evil witch (Cara Delevingne, looking like she’s in a fashion shoot for goths). It just takes awhile to get there. “Suicide Squad” is 70 percent a David Ayer film, but also 30 percent an annoying comic book movie that sometimes buckles under the pressure to conform to the norm. After a sprightly first half-hour of classic rock-backed character introductions, the movie fumbles about like Inspector Clouseau to get them to fighting. The climax is
a noisy, blurry bore. But when our good bad guys are traversing destroyed urban locales or bantering or knocking back whiskey, Ayer takes over. You can see that he’s trying to make a movie where heroic villains isn’t a novelty. He really understands that they’re complicated, profoundly messed-up characters. Some have horrific backstories that can’t be easily remedied; others revel in their deviousness. This is a deeply flawed movie, but it may be the first comic book movie that feels like it came from a real person. MATT PRIGGE

Social justice comes to comedy The rhetoric around immigration hits home for Hari Kondabolu — his parents came to New York from India. GETTY IMAGES
Comedian Hari Kondabolu fights for the disenfranchised, and has a killer Trump one-liner. ALISON GOLDBERG @MetroNewYork letters@metro.us
Hari Kondabolu is not a household name yet, but if you like politically charged comedy that tackles social and racial issues, there’s no one doing it better. Case in point: his upcoming project, “The Problem with Apu,” a documentary analyzing “The Simpsons” convenience store owner, coming this fall on TruTV. Until then, Kondabolu is ready to let his audience get to know the man behind the laughs. “You’ll get to know what I believe in through my stories, and not just my politics and my jokes,” the Indian-American comic says about his second standup album “Mainstream American Comic,” out July 22. We caught up with Kondabolu before he takes his act on the road. What’s the role of comedians in politics? For me, it’s important to hold truth to power, and comedy is a very accessible way to do that. People will be willing to listen because there’s a promise of a laugh. Is it hard to be funny given how toxic things have gotten? Comedy has always been my defense mechanism. So when things are bad I automatically go

to, “What can I say to make it better?” With [Trump’s] particular campaign, you’ve seen people protest and be really courageous in confronting things, and the folks in his rallies have been greeted with violence and racial slurs, and he condones those kinds of things. So you kind of worry with this presidency — are people going to be able to speak their mind? How have the campaigns inspired your comedy? This election, certainly, the big issues have really come out, whether those issues are about class, racism, xenophobia or sexism. That in some ways helps, because people become more attuned to thinking a little more deeply about society and what kind of society they want, and that helps me because that’s what I talk about. Any Trump-related material you can preview? I’ll give you one — the only time that Donald Trump has liberated women is when he’s divorced them. Tell us more about “The Problem With Apu.” It’s about “The Simpsons” character Apu, and to me
how strange that h h charh acter is in 2016 and how strange it was in 1990. I grew up in Queens, New York, which is a really diverse place, but we weren’t represented on TV regularly until this cartoon character came out — and the voice wasn’t even an Indian person, it was a white guy, Hank Azaria. So it was always really strange to feel like that was our biggest representation, this cartoon full of stereotypes. I really wanted to create a film about how a show that I love so much that I was hugely influenced by still has what I feel is a major flaw. Are you trying to achieve anything specific with your comedy? If there’s an issue that involves justice, or people who are not getting justice, that’s where my interest is. So, whether we’re talking about undocumented immigrants, working class people getting cheated from a system that doesn’t work for them, sexism, racism and homophobia. These are all things that I gravitate towards, certainly from personal experience, discussing racism and issues about immigration because my parents are immigrants.

UNIFORMS BACK PACKS TROPHIES
In Joe Dante’s 1993 comedy “Matinee,” a Key West town escapes the horrors of the Cuban Missile Crisis the only way they can: by going to the movies. But it’s not just any movie. It’s “MANT!”, the latest low-rent frightfest from a William Castle-esque B-movie god (John Goodman), and it preys on the anxieties going on outside the theater. “Matinee” is the kind of movie only Dante could make: inventive, lively and gleefully savage about what it says about America. It’s also one of the filmmaker’s diamonds in the rough — a bomb that deserves to be as well-known as his biggies, including “Gremlins,” its even more demented sequel, and “The Howling.” You can spend August in BAM soaking in the director’s entire career with “Joe Dante at the Movies,” which includes his hits, undeserved misses and obscurities. 34 THINGS TO DO The closest many of us will get to escaping NYC this summer is heading to the beach. But enjoying the water is even closer (and cheaper) than we think. The casual West Side after-work crowd already knows about the lobster rolls and local brews aboard New York Cruise Lines’ floating lobster shack, North River Lobster Company. This summer, it’s joined by Fish Bar, its “sexy big sister” as NYCL CEO Danny Boockvar describes it. The new upscale boat has three ways to enjoy your free cruise down to the Statue of Liberty: a below-decks cocktail lounge, an upscale restaurant and a casual rooftop bar. But you shouldn’t feel confined to just one of them during your nearly two hours of sailing. “You’ve gotta get around the boat,” says Boockvar. Start in the lounge with tapas like cornmealcrusted oysters or black truffle burrata, then head upstairs to the restaurant and order dinner, but don’t wait for it at your table — toast with one of their 25 bottles of champagne and go out to the bow for a Lady Liberty photo op. A waiter will let you know when your food’s ready. Then end the night upstairs, after the sunset, with a farm-to-

cocktail creation (many of the bar’s herbs are grown on a decommissioned steamship also docked at Pier 81). Now that you know your way around Fish Bar, we asked Boockvar for his recommendations on dry land.
Best late-night spot “The Press Lounge rooftop bar at Ink48 hotel — no bottle service, [just] dramatic views and good seasonal cocktails.
It also has a greenhouse, so it goes further into the colder seasons.” 653 11th Ave., Hell’s Kitchen
Favorite under $10 meal “Anything at Gotham West Market, especially Choza Taqueria, which serves authentic Mexican food, like an authentic roadside stand in Mexico — don’t miss the churros. Plus, Ample Hills Ice Cream.” 600 11th Ave.
Hidden gem “The Marshal in Hell’s Kitchen has farm-to-table comfort food, including a great meatloaf and mac’n’cheese.” 628 10th Ave.

Out-of-town guests “I like the eclectic fare at The Cecil in Harlem, short ribs and collard greens but still has a cool international vibe and great showing of the awesome new Harlem restaurant scene.” 210 W. 118th St.
Date night “Catch a musical performance or a comedian at City Winery, perfect date night.” 155 Varick St.

Salads are usually offered as a substitute for French fries, but not at Home Frite. The Belgian fry shop has been a weekend-only Smorgasburg staple since 2013, this summer it got a prime spot inside South Street Seaport’s seasonal Smorg market (11 Fulton St.). There, their cones of thick, lightly crisped fries pair perfectly with the seaside feel and salty air. About that salad though — at Home Frite, it’s actually

a dipping sauce. Dubbed the Herb-ocado, the condiment consists of an avocado base blended with tomatillo, arugula, cucumber, and an entire grocery aisle of herbs, from basil to cilantro. “That just came out of us wanting a chimichurri and a green goddess dressing,” explains founder and co-owner Ian Vernon. “It’s all fresh, none of it is cooked.” The result is like a punched-up salsa verde, bright and completely addictive. If you’re not sold on the premise, the Home Frite team is happy to offer a taste. “We have to almost promote it,” Vernon acknowledges. “A lot of the sauces that we have are very rich and savory flavors. This is just bright; it kind of fools you while you’re eating it.” So go ahead and tell mom you ate something green this week — no fork required.

TRAVEL

Sun, sand — and no crowds Get to these underthe-radar beaches for a truly relaxing summer getaway.
Trips to the beach are standard fare for most summer travelers, but crowded stretches of sand can make vacations more of a pain than a pleasure. But there are beaches that offer a peaceful retreat, allowing visitors to escape the crowds at more popular destinations.
Roque Bluffs Rustic scenery and sprawling landscapes make Roque Bluffs one of the best little-known beach destinations in Maine. Visitors can
explore 274 acres of coastal scenery, including a picturesque, half-mile pebbled beach. Take a dip in Simpson Pond, a popular swimming hole, or hike along the beach’s rocky cliffs.
Dry Tortugas Only accessible by boat or plane, the Dry Tortugas of Florida are located 70 miles off the shore of Key West, and consist of seven small islands and a sprawling coral reef. History buffs can explore Fort Jefferson, a 19th century building that once held political prisoners. For epic snorkeling and diving, head to offshore coral heads.
Sandbridge Beach Most beachgoers have
heard of Virginia Beach, but few are familiar with its tiny neighbor to the south. Located 15 miles from the resort area, Sandbridge features pristine dunes; explore the marshes and open waters of Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge or kayak and hike through False Cape State Park.
Cumberland Island Georgia’s Cumberland Island has it all. The 18-mile beach features unspoiled marshes, dunes and largely untouched forests. Beachgoers can stroll under dense canopies of live oaks or watch wild horses roam across pristine beaches. The public can only access the island via ferry, making it one of the state’s most secluded getaways.
Cumberland Island FACEBOOK
Enderts Beach
Folly Beach
Awahua Beach
Hidden away in California’s Redwood National Park, this beach features 37 miles of coastline surrounded by towering, 350-foot evergreen trees. Dramatic coastlines and peaceful surroundings give the area an appeal all its own: Hike to the 500-foot overlook off Enderts Beach Trail for unparalleled views of the forest and ocean, or settle down near the coast with an afternoon picnic.
Also known as Lowcountry’s summer playground, South Carolina’s Folly Beach offers a variety of water sports and attractions. Swimmers and surfers can hang ten at Folly’s Washout, and take in ocean views from the beach’s popular pier. The town is also home to delicious seafood; enjoy the day’s catch at restaurants overlooking the water.
Few beaches top Hawaii’s Awahua in sheer beauty and rich natural history. The isolated stretch of sand remains less developed than the state’s other islands; reach the picturesque coastline via a hiking trail or take in breathtaking views of the cliffs and water from a public lookout next to the trailhead. One drawback: The strong current makes the water too turbulent for swimming.

Shoulder Arthritis Treatments Keeping Boomers Active Into Their 60’s, 70’s Even 80’s? If you suffer with painful shoulder arthritis – science may have finally found the answer you’ve been looking for. Here is why: Researchers have discovered an natural gel like medicine that is like “joint oil.” This all-natural gel is one of the naturally occurring lubricating substances in your shoulder joint that cushions and lubricates the joint which dries out over time due to wear-and-tear, age or injury. But when doctors precisely place this lubricating gel into your shoulder joint by using advanced digital imaging technology – it is like putting oil on a rusty door hinge. It lubricates the joint and can decrease pain and stiffness. For some, results can be dramatic and last for months. Years for some. Often times shoulder surgery can be avoided.

sies about venues not being ready, polluted water, the Zika virus and more, the Olympics will go on as planned. Here are five U.S.-centered storylines to follow:
1Women’s gymnastics
Who can forget the drama during the 2012 Olympics in London, which ended with American Gabby Douglas winning the women’s all-around gold medal and the U.S. women grabbing the team title? In 2016, Douglas is back for more — as is Aly Raisman. It’s rare for gymnasts to dominate at more than one Olympics because of the stresses the sport puts on their bodies, but this year we’ll see two returnees. The U.S. women do have some different faces on their roster, of course. Simone Biles is the new star, and she’s the favorite on the squad to win the all-around title — which would give the U.S. its fourth straight individual all-around gold medal. Women’s artistic gymnastics in Rio begins Aug. 7.
2Swimming
He’s the greatest Olympian of all time, given his 22 Olympic medals (18 gold, two silver, two bronze). Michael Phelps retired after the London Olympics and swore to everyone that he was done with the sport. Four years later, he’s the first
U.S. male swimmer to compete on five Olympic teams. The 31-year-old Phelps is older and wiser now, has a 3-month-old son and is engaged to be married sometime after Rio. He’s competing in three individual events this month: the 100-meter and 200-meter butterfly, and the 200-meter individual medley. He’ll likely be on two relays as well — the 4x100-meter freestyle and the 4x100meter medley. Swimming events begin Aug. 6.
3Women’s team sports
The U.S. women’s soccer team is looking to win its fourth straight gold medal, while the U.S. women’s basketball squad hopes to keep its 41-game Olympic winning streak alive — which dates back to the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona — and win a sixth straight gold medal. Both squads are heavy favorites in Rio. The hoops team is led by Sue Bird, Brittney Griner, Tamika Catchings and Diana Taurasi, while the soccer team has Hope Solo, Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan back for another games. Women’s basketball in Rio begins Aug. 6 and women’s soccer started Wednesday.
4Track and field
It’s said that the men’s Olympic decathlon champion is the world’s
greatest athlete, thanks to the grueling event that includes 10 individual track and field events over two days. American Ashton Eaton won the 2012 gold medal and won both the 2013 and 2015 outdoor world championship to boot. In Rio, Eaton is on the shortlist to maintain his status as the world’s greatest athlete. Men’s decathlon will be contested Aug. 17-18 and includes the following events: 100 meters, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400 meters, 100-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500 meters.
5Women’s triathlon
Two women are hoping to swim, bike and run themselves onto the podium in triathlon, a sport that’s only been in the Olympics since 2000. Sarah True and Gwen Jorgensen competed in the London Olympics. They’ve both enjoyed success since finishing out of medal contention at those games, and enter the Rio competition as medal contenders. The U.S. has one Olympic triathlon medal, a bronze in 2004 thanks to Susan Williams. The event involves swimming 1,500 meters in open water, cycling 40 kilometers (24.8 miles) and running 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). The women’s triathlon is scheduled for Aug. 20.
