3 things you need to know EUROPEAN LEADERS AND OBAMA TO DISCUSS RUSSIA SANCTIONS IN BERLIN
1
European leaders and President Barack Obama will discuss on Friday an extension of the sanctions imposed on Russia for its intervention in Ukraine, as well as possible new sanctions for its bombing in Syria, multiple sources familiar with the plans said. The meeting in Berlin, hosted by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and including the leaders of Britain, France, Italy and Spain, comes a little over a week after Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential election. Trump has indicated that he will seek a rapprochement with Russia, raising doubts in Europe about the future of the sanctions regime introduced by Washington and Brussels in 2014 following Russia’s intervention in eastern Ukraine. MINNESOTA COP CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER IN DEATH OF BLACK MAN

A prosecutor in Minnesota on Wednesday said he had brought a second-degree manslaughter charge against a police officer involved in the July shooting death of a black motorist that sparked outrage after it was broadcast on social media. Ramsey County Attorney John Choi said St. Anthony police officer Jeronimo Yanez broke the law when he shot and killed Philando Castile, 32, in Falcon Heights, a St. Paul suburb, during a traffic stop. Castile had told the officer that he was lawfully carrying a firearm after he was pulled over by Yanez and another officer. Castile’s girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, live-streamed images of him after he was shot, and some went viral on social media. REUTERS
BP TO CUT UP TO 80 JOBS AT INDIANA REFINERY

BP Plc plans to cut between 50 and 80 salaried positions at the company’s 413,500-barrel-per-day refinery in Whiting, Indiana, a company spokesman said. Union-represented hourly and salaried employees at the refinery, which is BP’s largest in the United States, will not be affected by the layoffs, said spokesman Michael Abendhoff. The cuts come as U.S. refiners have weathered a sharp downturn in refining profits due to rising global oil prices. REUTERS

James Monroe-Chausse is developing a business plan to open a profit-sharing record label. He’s majoring in sound design and audio production at college, but has always wanted to start his own business and hopes to help pay artists what they deserve. Rey Sawan is working on a social media app that he hopes will actually get people off their phones by fostering natural ways to start conversations. Currently studying marketing, Sawan, who was raised in Dubai, noticed in Boston how hard it is to start conversations with people on the T because they’re always on their phones, and thinks he can help bridge that gap with his technology. Both 20-year-old college juniors always knew that they wanted to start their own business someday, but they didn’t pur-
sue an education at a traditional business school. They followed their passions and both currently go to Emerson, a college that focuses on communication studies, performing and visual arts. Some students didn’t even know they could work toward their own businesses while at Emerson, but thanks to its E3 program — the “Emerson Experience in Entrepreneurship” — they’re able to learn what they need to know on the business side while still focusing on the passion of their artistic majors. “I knew that I wanted to be more than just creative, and they teach us that we are business people first, we have to sell ourselves,” Sawan said. “It makes Emerson so different than other ‘art’ schools — you get to dive in and really get the hands-on help you need.” The E3 class is a yearlong commitment in which students, under the guide of Lu Ann Reeb, director of business and entrepreneurship studies at Emerson, learn about what it means to be an entrepreneur. The expected to build a business plan, show that they can create revenue on their campus using a monetary investment from Reeb and learn by going outside of the

You can’t just read from a text book.” Already this semester, Reeb’s students have stepped into the world of Bon Me, the Boston-born food truck and restaurant chain; VDA Productions, a Somerville event design group; Wine Riot, a company in the South End that offers wine tastings; and Mass Challenge, a nonprofit startup accelerator that advances more than 300 business ventures a year. She explained the business’s unusual start: Rather than trying to open a bunch of food trucks, she entered, and won, a food truck competition in Boston.

New Cream Works for Men in a Way Sex Pills Can’t! New invention triples sensation and gives overwhelming pleasure to those who use it.
3 Boston Thursday, November 17, 2016
You may have a different problem than you think. Specialist, Dr. James L. Yeager’s invention helps men suffering from RPS. Now you can double, even triple your penile feeling and sensation. The result? MINDBLOWING SEXUAL SENSATION! Steven Wuzubia Health Correspondent Clearwater, Florida – Think about it. No matter what drugs you take; If you don’t have enough “feeling” in your penis, it’s impossible to get an erection. The formula for great sex is simple. The more penile feeling, the more aroused you get, which provokes a firm and lasting erection and a full orgasm whenever you want. For years, men begged Dr. Yeager for a solution that would work to end lack of penile sensitivity. But now, his new cream promises to give you what no other pill can… incredible sensation, even from the slightest touch. It’s fixing erection problems a whole new way. The new cream makes penile sensitivity double, even triple. So even those that have little to no feeling at all in the penis suddenly experience mind blowing sex again! “Even men without E.D. problems are buying up more than we can produce”, says Dr. Yeager. “Many men do not feel comfortable telling even their doctor about trouble with erections, and a lack of feeling and pleasure during intercourse.” “They are too ashamed that they cant ‘make it work’ in bed. And if this is your problem, you’re not alone.” These men suffer from Reduced Penile Sensitivity (RPS). This can cause loss of confidence, frustration, even depression and anxiety. Let’s face it. The inability or long wait to reach orgasm is bad enough. But failure to achieve a firm erection is devastating! It’s one of the leading causes of relationship problems. And avoiding sex often leads to a failed marriage. It is a horrible problem. Dr. Yeager wasn’t about to ignore the suffering of his patients. He wanted to make a mark and decided to do something about it.
He spent long sleepless nights locked up in his lab ... researching every study he could get his hands on regarding penis sensitivity and came up with a cream that changed sexual medicine as we know it. He put special natural ingredients into a cream for men and the results have been remarkable. Men who use this cream report much more penile feeling, arousal, sensitivity and pleasure from their sexual intercourse. They have less or no more difficulty in stimulating the penis, getting and keeping a hard erection, and achieving orgasm at the right time. ED pills like Viagra, Cialis and natural pills work for many men, but men with RPS end up taking more than directed in the hope of increasing their penile sensitivity, and even then they often don’t work good enough.
the reaction of sensory neurons to stimulus such as warmth, cold and touch. This activation results in more sensitivity of the penis and a pleasurable sensation. The nutrients in this cream help you get and keep a hard erection very easy, and also to climax when you want to. For example, Joe Romas, 52, from Oakland, was not feeling any penile sensation during sex and it took too long to ejaculate because of this. And the lack of feeling made sex unpleasurable. Within one week after he started applying SENSUM+® cream, he reported, “I now have my old feeling and pleasure back. Sex is fun again and feels great. My wife and I are much happier now.” “A REAL MARRIAGE-CHANGER!” “This has caused our sex life to be like we are teenagers again! My wife and I are both much happier and more satisfied. A real life-changer! I am so glad for Dr. Yeager’s invention to fix this problem with no dangerous prescription drugs.”
- Robert H., West Palm Beach, FL
WHY YOU NEED IT Reduced Penile Sensitivity (RPS) is commonly associated with aging, diabetes, circumcision, certain surgeries and prescription drugs. RPS is estimated to strike over 500 million men on a worldwide basis. Dr. Yeager states “It’s not a man’s fault. They did nothing wrong. They are not any less of a man. And now, men don’t have to suffer any longer.” HOW IT WORKS The name of the cream Dr. Yeager invented is SENSUM+®. Men rub the cream on their penis twice daily for the first two weeks then once a day for eight additional weeks. There is a nice cinnamon smell and no residues. The main ingredient, natural Cinnamaldehyde, activates the TRPA1 receptor (IC50= 9.5μM). This increases
“I have full feeling and sensitivity back in my penis. This cream has been a Godsend for me,” raves Otto Garangton of Seattle. SENSITIVITY AND SATISFACTION DOUBLED, TRIPLED Clinical studies prove SENSUM+® ends these common male sexual problems fast and effectively. The result of two clinical studies on men, both circumcised and not, show SENSUM+® more than doubled penis sensitivity and more than tripled sexual satisfaction. (By the way, their partner’s sexual satisfaction also tripled.)
Dr. James L. Yeager PRIVACY GUARANTEED SENSUM+® is patent-pending. The product is discretely shipped in a plain unmarked package so privacy and confidentiality is assured. It is for both circumcised and non-circumcised men. No side effects or medicine interactions have been reported. Readers can now join thousands of other men who have ended their sexual issues and enjoy their sex life again like back when they were much younger. “Its almost like a miracle for men who want to improve their penis feeling and performance in bed” says Dr. Yeager. The sooner you start using this cream, the sooner you can have more feeling in your penis again to get and keep a hard erection and enjoy sex more than ever. SENSUM+® is NOT sold in stores. No prescription or doctor visit is required. HOW TO GET SENSUM+® IN Massachusetts This is the first official public release of SENSUM+® in Massachusetts. BRIEF Salvation Army unveils online auction for donated jewelry The Salvation Army announced this week that it will hold an online auction to sell more than 60 pieces of jewelry that have been donated into its red kettles. Every November, the Salvation Army brings out its red kettles, collecting donations for those in need. In 2014, the organization received a dierent kind of donation: a
widow’s wedding and diamond engagement rings dropped into a kettle outside of North Station. The widow included a note asking that the rings be sold to help children in need around the holidays, according to the organization. That unique act of generosity gained attention and inspired jewelry donations all across Massachusetts. The Salvation Army received 15 more pieces of
jewelry in the following weeks, raising more than $30,000. The trend has continued ever since. “During the past two years, the outpouring of jewelry donations across Massachusetts has inspired all of us, and we’re excited to auction these precious items to raise funds to help those in need, said Maj. Gregory Hartshorn, general secretary of The Massachusetts Salvation Army, in
a news release. “Funds raised will provide toys to children in need, coats and warm meals, and to support vital programs and services in local cities and towns. The auction is currently live and will run until Nov. 21. Proceeds from the auction will go into the communities where the items were donated to help individuals and families in need. If you thought snail mail was a thing of the past, think again. There were a few hard years — hiring freezes, rollbacks in post office hours — but the United States Postal Service is back from the brink, resuscitated by a ground swell in online shopping. The USPS is poised to hire 500 letter carriers and mail sorters in Boston in the coming months and John Powers, district manager for greater Boston, said that’s just the beginning. “What’s driving the need for hire? The package vine has grown significantly — we’re delivering seven days a week and when you combine that with the fact that our workforce is getting older, you see a lot of opportunity for jobs, he said. Over the last several years the USPS has seen a resurgence in need, thanks in large part to the success of e-commerce and companies like Amazon. In the last two years alone, Powers has added seven-day package delivery to his list of services and he said he is starting see the constraints of an aging workforce. Online sales have
grown by 14 to 16 percent every year since 2010 and now account for more than one-third of retail nationwide, according to U.S. Commerce Department data. Following the recession in 2007 and 2008, the postal service stopped all career hiring. In the decade since the economic recovery began, the postal service saw a reduction of about 200,000 workers nationwide — without layoffs. In the absence of new hires, Powers’ workers are all starting to age out together. Of the 13,000 employees in his district, which extends from Boston to Worcester to Cape Cod, about 4,300 are ripe for retirement. “Roughly one-third of our current employees in the Greater-Boston area are eligible for retirement, so we have to be prepared, Powers said. And hiring has begun. Powers said he has an immediate need with the coming holiday season, but said he doesn’t expect hiring to stop at 500. “I expect to be in hiring mode for the foreseeable future. I’m using the number of 500, but it’s just a round number for our immediate need, he said. The jobs start at $16.06 an hour, offer full-time work and come with ample opportunity for overtime, which brings in time-and-a-half pay. The jobs come with benefits and a “nice annuity at the end of a 30year career, Powers said.

Boston tech startup offers Americans $20K to move to Canada The company bills itself as a “white glove relocating service.” ERIN TIERNAN @MetroNewYork
erin.tiernan@metro.us
For Americans threatening to leave the United States rather than suffer a Donald Trump presidency, an opportunity awaits. Boston-based real estate company Navut is offering Americans up to $20,000 cash back to use their service to buy a home in Canada. Navut, which launched in 2012, describes itself as a “white glove relocating service” that connects people to the realtors and neighborhoods that can introduce them to the lifestyle they are looking for in a new city. The company started in Montreal and already offers its services in 10 major Canadian cities, something the American electorate apparently found attractive in the fallout after Election Day. “Our website traffic increased by over 300 percent,” Navut CEO Mauro Repacci said of the day following the election. “The Canadian economy stands to benefit greatly from American immigration, particularly the real es-

tate industry, and Navut wants to help make that happen.” The company plans to make good on its promise by forfeiting a portion of its commission. They benefit from a bump in sales; homebuyers benefit with cold hard cash. Navut graduated earlier this year from the business startup accelerator Techstars Boston, which helped it raise $3 million in capital. The company plans to launch in 100 U.S. cities by 2018. “Americans are our dear friends, and the
U.S. has done wonderful things for our company. We would like to give back by helping them join us in Canada,” Repacci said. “As Navut continues to grow and launch in cities across Canada and the U.S., the Canadian-American relationship has never been more important to all of us here at Navut.” Moving in with our neighbors to the north isn’t necessarily as simple as buying a house, though. Americans need visas or jobs to secure resident status — Navut has some ideas for that too.
“The Canadian economy stands to benefit greatly from American immigration, particularly the real-estate industry, and Navut wants to help make that happen.” Navut CEO Mauro Repacci
BRIEFS Donate to Metro’s Toy Drive In keeping with the holiday spirit of giving, Metro is once again launching Metro Magic, our annual toy drive for underprivileged children in New York, Boston and Philadelphia. This year marks the seventh anniversary of the toy drive, which was renamed in memory of the man who oversaw the project for more than four years, Tony Metcalf, Metro’s longest-running editor in chief. Mr. Metcalf passed away in 2013 from colon cancer at the age of 50. Mr. Metcalf lit up every year as he saw the faces of children unwrap their holiday gifts. It is our
goal to keep that magic alive. “Tony felt we should use the size and scale of Metro to help others and he used enormous dedication and force to execute the project and every year make children in need a little happier during the holiday season,” said Metro’s Chief Executive Officer Yggers Mortensen. “I am proud to continue this project in honor of Tony and I hope all our readers, suppliers and members of the Metro team will help to make this yet another great Metro Magic year.” Metro has created a wish list at the Target website that readers can access by going
to Metro.us and clicking on the Tony’s Metro Magic story on the homepage. From there, just choose the toys you wish to donate, pay online using Target’s secure payment system, and your gifts, along with your name attached, will be delivered to Metro’s offices in each city. This season, we hope you will remember the children who will spend the holidays in shelters or who may not have gifts to open. Even one small gift can make a big difference in a child’s holiday season. It’s good to receive a gift. It’s better to give one. METRO

The men’s magazine celebrated in Sydney, Iggy’s birthplace, and honored her with its Woman of the Year Award. Kind of like Glamour did for Bono, except‌ not really. According to The Daily Telegraph, Iggy was feeling quite proud of her accomplishment. “I have won a lot of awards over the last few years but this one means the

Ocean’s sophomore album has topped the charts and received positive reviews from critics and listeners alike. So why didn’t Frank, who has already won two Grammys, submit the album to be considered for this years awards?
The short answer: He’s silently protesting what he calls a “dated system of awarding, screening and nominating. That early self David Gray kicks off his U.S. solo tour this week in Boston.
David Gray is digging deep into his catalog for his latest tour. RACHEL RACZKA @rachelraczka

Multiplatinum English recording artist David Gray has too many hits to count — so he asked Spotify listeners to help narrow the numbers down. The dynamic digital edition of “The Best of David Gray Weekly” (which was formally and permanently released as a double-disc album in October) is rereleased every Monday on Spotify, recalibrating and reorganizing which tracks make the cut based on user plays. The experience, says Gray from his home in London, is enlightening for an artist with as large a catalog as his (10 LPs make up Gray’s legacy, from 1993), and it’s been helpful for tightening a lengthy set list for his upcoming U.S. solo tour. “There are the songs that didn’t make it [to the “David Gray Weekly” playlist] and then there are the songs I forgot about, if I’m perfectly honest,” he explains. “The playlist just reflects the way people listen to music now. It’s gathering songs in an honest way, as done by someone who doesn’t have an intensive relationship with them. It’s a list made by that person, as opposed to the hardened fan who listened to all the tracks I ever did.” Gray, who kicks off his tour in Boston, discusses

the ongoing challenges of relearning a career’s worth catalog of songs and what really happened to the art from his “Enter Lightly” music video. What’s it like revisiting songs from the early ’90s of your career? I imagine it’s like rereading old books, where everything means something different to you because you’ve gained perspective. It’s amazing tasting that early self. I can almost feel the pant of all my emotions back then. They’re acute when you’re young — the melody is like alcohol, sexual yearning, the hopeless romantic playing on the road for audiences, hoping to get noticed. It’s all in the music and I can still taste it. It does feel like rereading those books you’ve ever read. You might not notice all the nuances when you’re reading it with hungry youthful eyes, versus the wise mellow eyes of a person with difficult experiences. Do you think you’re able to still emotionally connect those earlier songs? I’m still learning them again — rehearsing and making them a part of me again. It’s like “Terminator 2” — putting all the joints together again. [Laughs] It’s really, really intense. I’ve gotten emotional a few times playing things because you end up face-to-face with the past. It’s strange listening to those older versions of yourself. Still, I’m looking for that ring of truth — that magical thing that

lurks in music. If that still exists, a song can survive. Where did the idea to make art for the “Enter Lightly” video come from? It was me. I’m not a big fan of making music videos. I had one idea that would have cost a lot of money, but no one wants to spend money anymore. So the second idea was, “Let’s make some art and you can film me doing it.” I couldn’t do a landscape or someone’s torso, so I thought I’d do something in the style of Jackson Pollock. I bought industrial paints and a massive load of canvas, and probably killed myself with all the nasty solvent. Where’s that art now? It’s at the office, I think. It’s a very large painting. I did two. We filmed all day, and it was like, “Let’s stay a few hours, and do another one.” I don’t know what I think of the art. If I went back, I’d probably change it again. I think it’s good to have a part of a video feature you with your tongue hanging out because you’re concentrating so hard. It’s a good look. Madonna, take note.

YOUR WEEKEND STARTS NOW
Bambara’s Choereg bread
Rachel Raczka eats her way through Boston rachel.raczka@metro.us
Don’t even think about turning me into a sandwich.
There’s something to be said about a restaurant that has the balls to ask you to pay for bread. One, it’s not typical — at least not in my own experience, in the land of endless breadsticks and cult-worthy brown bread from unnamed chain restaurants that normalized the concept. Two, it better be some damn good bread. Enter Bambara, tucked away in Hotel Marlowe in Kendall Square, newly helmed by chef David Bazirgan by way of San Francisco. With Bazirgan came a fresh Mediterranean-influenced menu — braised greens with sumac and hummus, confit octopus with sour-cherry clear vinaigrette and smoky eggplant — and yes, bread. It’s Za’atar and seed-
sprinkled braided Choereg bread that comes on its own plate with smear of salted whipped honey butter and costs $2.50. Unsatisfied with the previous bread service at the restaurant, Bazirgan introduced his Choereg, as inspired from traditional Armenian recipes served at his family table. The bread is labor-intensive, ingredients high-quality and Bazirgan is cool with asking customers to spend the extra dough. To be fair, it’s a bakery treat rather than a table fixture — but also thoughtful introduction to a new chef that sets the bar for remainder of the menu when you realize he’s confident enough to ask you to pay for your bread and butter.
SCOTT GARDNER
It’s too delicate and fluffy to sop up the rich, salty Pastissaffron broth that comes with the mussels or the dreamy, silky brown butter of the triple cream tortellini with mushrooms — though you’ll want it to. It outshines the (though very delicious) banana bread pudding, which the restaurant also bakes itself. There are many tempting plates (and a fine cocktail program) but the Choereg stands on its own. I fantasize about a night at the bar, ripping bits of bread and dipping them in salted butter while enjoying a fruity, floral Habitual Happiness. In fact, maybe I’ll even order two. At $2.50, they’re a bargain.

“Sweeney Todd” Heart & Dagger Productions presents Stephen Sondheim’s macabre musical thriller, which saw recent local productions at the Lyric Stage in 2014 and Berklee this past winter. Your 48-hour guide to relaxation We went to Aruba for the weekend to find out if it’s possible to get relaxed, restored and culturally satisfied in just two days. RACHEL RACZKA @rachelraczka
rachel.raczka@metro.us
It’s not an easy stretch of the year to take time off — holidays have many of us working overtime to prep for the days we’ll be spending out of the office. Of course, this is also when we feel in desperate need of a vacation between the election results, the cabin fever of daylight saving time and this season of obligations. So we asked: Can you refresh with a getaway that only lasts 48 hours? To find out, we went to Aruba with JetBlue for a two-night stay at the Aruba Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino in Palm Beach. This means a four-hours-and-change flight from Boston for an epically burned out editor with less than two full days of soaking up the sun, sand and beachside cocktails. Doesn’t sound relaxing enough? Believe it or not, it was. Here’s how we found Zen in a weekend.
Upgrade your flight It’s pricey, but upgrading your ticket kick-starts

your vacation the minute you board the plane. And when you have only two days, you might as well make the most of it. We flew JetBlue Mint, a new premium domestic service that kicked off a Boston to Aruba service this month. Fares start at $599 each way with seats that recline fully to become 80-inch beds, Hollywood-inspired toiletry kits from Hayward & Hopper and a menu of small plates straight from New York’s chic comfort food restaurant Saxon + Parole and

Ask the locals Once on the ground, we turned to food editorial duo The Curious Pear for our game plan. Writer Meg Abbott and photographer Issy Croker travel the world capturing

beautiful places, people and culinary delights, on tight deadlines (and budgets) to create stories that truly take you away. So how do we get a satisfying taste of a place in 48 hours or less? “We usually start by asking our taxi driver, Airbnb host or a shop owner where their favorite place to eat is — more often than not, that always leads to somewhere unique and delicious,” says Abbott. So we asked our taxi driver, who recommended our first stop: Madame Janette, a lively, fairy light-lit al fresco restaurant in Noord that blends Caribbean and Dutch cuisines. Plate-size pork schnitzels and their signature almond-crusted grouper — an enormous flaky fish coated in tender almond slices with a spinach cream sauce — are served alongside frosty coupes of Frosé. The next night, wanting to eat like locals, we wandered to Juanchi’s, an outdoor burger stand in Palm Beach with crispy onion cheeseburgers, plump saucy chicken wings, sweet papelón con limón and great nighttime people watching. Our driver also took us along the scenic route

Skip the usual Thanksgiving and use the extra days for a quick trip abroad.
Munich By the last weekend in November, nearly all of the European Christmas markets are in full swing, but no country goes all out quite like Germany does.
Brussels In late November, this relatively small city looks like a wintry fairytale town. Follow the crowds to the centrally located Winter Wonderland, complete with about 240 holiday “chalets” selling handicrafts, ornaments, and toothsome treats; a skating rink, large Ferris
wheel and all kinds of entertainment round out the fun.
Madrid Summers can be furnacelike in Madrid, but Spain’s capital has relatively mild winter weather, which makes for comfortable weather to explore El Rastro, the city’s 400-yearold flea market, or stroll the grand square at the heart of the old city, Plaza Mayor.
Florence This is a great time to visit Tuscany’s capital because many of the attractions and museums you want to see are inside anyway — Michelangelo’s David at the Galleria dell’Accademia, the Uffizi Gallery and the Palazzo Pitti, to name a few — and there’ll be fewer fellow tourists.
Nuremberg Christmas Market in Munich GETTY IMAGES
Lisbon This isn’t the time of year to visit for Portugal’s beach scene, but Lisbon enjoys the warmest weather of any other major European city in November. Pack a good pair of walking shoes to explore the hilly cobblestone streets of the city’s Alfama district, and grand plazas in the Baixa district.
Reykjavik In November, the daytime temperatures in Iceland’s
capital aren’t likely to reach 40 degrees. There’s plenty to do — inside and outdoors — like a hot soak in a geothermal pool. At night, stay warm the way the locals do: at any of the numerous bars and nightclubs, where the action doesn’t start heating up until midnight.
Vancouver Strap on a pair of skis at Grouse Mountain, with its breathtaking views of the city below, or a take a brisk walk along the shores of Stanley Park.

Meet Crusoe the Celebrity Dachshund — and the people who love him “He’s an extraordinary dog DANIEL CASILLAS @MetroBOS letters@metro.us
Crusoe the Celebrity Dachshund really is man’s best friend. Not only has the Ottawabased mutt, made famous for dressing up in bespoke costumes, got over 250,000 followers on Instagram, he’s provided his owner, Ryan Beauchesne, with a moneymaking, fulltime job. The pooch, who’s known for sporting anything from an NYPD outfit to a chef’s hat, has released his Crusoe the
Crusoe and co. PROVIDED
Celebrity Dachshund 2017 Wall Calendar. What’s the story behind Crusoe? Crusoe is a wiener-dog extraordinaire. He comes from humble beginnings as a country dog living in Quebec, Canada. His ‘celebrity’ career started on a whim with no premeditated aspirations for fame. His fun, lighthearted and silly antics caught the eyes of many and his following grew on its own. We were surprised to see how big it became, and I feel so lucky that Crusoe has been able to provide me my full-time career for the past couple of years. They always say that your job should be something you love — well, mine is to spend time with my dog! When did you get the idea to photograph Crusoe dressed as dierent characters? I grew up with
the photobooks of William Wegman on our coffee table, and I loved “Calvin and Hobbes. Somehow the combination of the photography and outfits from Wegman combined with the whimsical, imaginative, child-oriented perspective of Calvin and Hobbes eventually came together to spark an idea to start a blog all written from his perspective. Is it easy to dress a small dog? Not always. There are many costumes you can buy off the shelf, but wiener dogs have a peculiar shape, and storebought outfits don’t tend to fit too well. Does Crusoe actually enjoy these photo shoots? We always make sure that photo shoots are fun and rewarding, so he totally doesn’t mind them! It really depends on the shoot. In a lot of the videos you’ll see his tail wagging and him having an awesome time — and this is what I strive for because his natural character really shines when he’s excited and having fun.

A THOMPSON TRADE TO CELTICS MAKES TOO MUCH SENSE DANNY PICARD OPINION “The Danny Picard Show” airs every weekday at DannyPicard.com. Danny can also be heard on WEEI 93.7 FM. @dannypicard
Let’s set the record straight. Brian Scalabrine can publicly backtrack all he wants. But he knows something. In recent days, the former Celtic-turnedanalyst threw out a trade rumor that got the attention of anyone and everyone who is tapped into the NBA. That rumor had Boston and Golden State discussing a deal which would send Klay Thompson to the Celtics in exchange for Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder. The deal, according to Scalabrine, would also
The Celtics have been rumored to be interested in Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson. GETTY IMAGES
include Golden State having the “right-toswap” its first-round pick for a Brooklyn pick that Boston owns. Scalabrine randomly mentioned this to Frank Isola on SiriusXM NBA Radio. The conversation began when Scalabrine said, “I heard Klay Thompson might be
available.” He added, “I heard that rumor going around, and it was specifically to a team that wears green.” OK. Stop it there. Does that sound like something Scalabrine was reading off the internet? To me, it sounds like someone who has inside information. And see-
ing that Scalabrine has connections with both the Celtics and Warriors (he was part of Golden State’s coaching staff in 2013), it’s not crazy to believe he’s got the inside scoop on this one. In his SiriusXM segment, Scalabrine continued to talk about what the Warriors could do with the Brooklyn pick, and how they could move it to “get some type of legitimate younger shot-blocking center.” Then, in a Facebook video for Comcast SportsNet New England, Scalabrine later mentioned that Golden State could trade that Brooklyn pick to Philadelphia for 22-year-old big man Nerlens Noel. Was Scalabrine just taking something he read online and turning it into a juicy rumor for ratings, knowing that the trade actually makes some sense for all parties involved? That’s what he wants you to believe. But the website which he now says he read it from, it doesn’t even detail the same trade that Scalabrine discussed in detail on SiriusXM. This leads me to believe something is up.
Scalabrine has inside information. And he wasn’t supposed to spill the beans. As someone who is always trying to get some type of inside information from teams in Boston, I’ve spilled the beans before, only to quickly be told from the source that I wasn’t supposed to say anything. In fairness to Scalabrine, I’ve never received inside information as important as the trade rumor he recently threw out there. But that just makes his backtracking that much more important and imminent, especially if he had somebody telling him to backtrack. Then you have Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who shot down the trade rumor when asked about it during a media session this week. “I think our guys know that stuff is almost always just BS,” he said. Almost always. But not always. Look, what do you expect Kerr to come out and say, “Yeah, we’re discussing a trade that would send Klay Thompson to the Celtics”? Then what happens if the
trade falls through? What would be going through Thompson’s head? If this trade was being discussed, neither the Celtics or Warriors would want it to become public until it was finalized. And if it’s being discussed, I think this trade would absolutely have a chance to get done. Because it makes sense. After adding Kevin Durant, Golden State can sacrifice some offense to improve its defensive needs, while keeping Steph Curry and Draymond Green. And after adding Al Horford, Boston would love to get its hands on another All-Star in the backcourt to go along with Isaiah Thomas, while being able to hold onto Marcus Smart and still have one more Brooklyn pick in its back pocket. It works. The two teams are a perfect fit. And if I’m Danny Ainge, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to pull the trigger on this trade. It just makes sense. Too much sense, actually. Which makes me think. Scalabrine knows something. At least, I hope he does.
