The Montblanc 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter Limited Edition, the flagship model comes with a retro-vintage champagne dial that has a sunray finishing to match the bronze color of the case giving a monochrome and mono-material aspect, accentuating the volume of the timepiece. This limited edition is housed in a 44mm full satinated bronze case with a bronze colored titanium case back (to avoid allergies) and polished bezel for increased depth. At the heart of the timepiece lies a traditional manual monopusher chronograph, the Minerva MB M16.29, with a column wheel mechanism, horizontal coupling, chronograph bridge in a "V" shape, a large screwed balance wheel with a frequency of 18,000 semi oscillations per hour and a power reserve of 50 hours.
TRAVERSING TIME Montblanc introduces bronze into
its 1858 Collection Montblanc captures the spirit of the past with the introduction of three new bronze versions within the Montblanc 1858 Collection—a Montblanc 1858 Chronometer Tachymeter Limited Edition 100, a Montblanc 1858 Automatic Dual Time and a Montblanc 1858 Automatic timepiece. The first models to be introduced since the appointment of Davide Cerrato as managing director of Montblanc International Watch Division. Inspired by the incredible heritage, historical functions, mechanics and design codes of the famous Minerva military chronographs from the 1930s, the brand has truly traversed time, taking first steps for the collection with the introduction of a bronze case. Bronze complements both the colors of the dials and the antique-style straps delivering a distinctly vintage design.
The historical design codes taken from the original 1930s Minerva chronograph include large cathedral hands, with their cloisonné design filled with beige Super-LumiNova®, luminescent Arabic numerals, vintage shaped crowns and classic minute railway tracks that encircle the dials. Other vintage codes include the original Montblanc logo from the 1930s era with its historical font and emblem of the Mont Blanc Mountain in the center, along with new cognac colored calfskin and alligator straps that have been given an aged look by the artisans at the Montblanc Pelletteria in Florence.
The Montblanc 1858 Automatic Dual Time is powered by the Calibre MB 29.19, this automatic movement features a dual time complication entirely developed and assembled in-house with a home time indication and a day/ night display. The dual time function comes into play while travelling as the user can set the local time hour hand to the new destination time zone without affecting the home time hour hand. The minute hand and the second hand also both continue to run uninterruptedly during this setting process, thus preserving the exact time. A day/night indicator, which is connected to the central home time hand, is visible in a small aperture at 12 o’clock. At six o’clock, a subdial indicates the small seconds and the date, which is linked to the local time. The Montblanc 1858 Automatic is powered by the Calibre MB 24.16, a precise automatic movement for the young and modern watch aficionado who appreciates both the vintage look and horological functionality. ustralian fitness phenomenon, Kayla Itsines has been blazing the workout trail fast establishing a large and loyal following. With the support of her 14.4million+ social media followers Kayla’s app, Sweat with Kayla has hit the top of the Apple App Store in the health and fitness category in over 70 countries, and her BBG program has transformed the lives and bodies of women worldwide. Fans not only follow her on Instagram, they pack stadiums to experience her workout sessions first hand.
and support each other through your fitness journey. It’s great to have someone to look to on those days when you aren’t feeling motivated to workout. The BBG Community is a great source of inspiration AND motivation for me some days, as well as for lots of other women around the world. I’m so lucky to be a part of such an amazing group of women! Any favorite recipes from the book? It’s so hard to pick a favourite, but one recipe that I absolutely love is Yemista (stuffed capsicum with rice). My YiaYia (Grandma) always made it for me when I was younger, and still does! It’s great to be able to share recipes like this in my book!
Kayla is taking her high-intensity, 28-minute Bikini Body Guide to print with her very first book, The Bikini Body 28-Day Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Guide. We caught up with Kayla, who recently appeared in Miami for her book launch and signing to get the scoop. The book presents a four-week plan featuring over 200 delicious and healthful recipes, alongside a corresponding workout plan, which includes Kayla’s signature 28-Minute workouts and a one week free access code to the Sweat with Kayla app. Kayla appears throughout the book presenting a variety of nourishing food she makes and eats to fuel her body with the energy it needs to keep healthy, fit and strong! How did you get started in the fitness lifestyle? I’ve always been active, even from an early age, and I played a lot of sports when I was younger. My passion for helping people and my interest in fitness is what lead me to study personal training at the Australian Institute of Fitness. It’s wonderful to be able to combine my two passions into a career! You give tons of great advice: via your app, website, social outlets and now through your book, is there is ONE (non-negotiable) thing that everyone looking to start or optimize a healthy lifestyle should practice? I believe everyone's different, so what may work for someone may not work for someone else, which is why it’s so important to listen to your body and do what works for YOU. Getting a friend to workout with is a great place to start. That way, you can motivate
Would you say the book is an extension of the app? I think the book is its own product, however it includes all of my methodology from my Sweat With Kayla app. As a hard copy, it’s something tangible that women can keep in their home to refer to. The Bikini Body 28-Day Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Guide uses elements that are similar to what’s in the BBG program, so it can be used with the Sweat With Kayla app, or on its own. It offers something for everyone!

In these pre-war and war eras, artists and patrons created a Japanese modernism that signaled simultaneously the nation’s unique history and cosmopolitanism. HOW LIZ LIVED
AN INTIMATE LOOK AT THE HOME AND PERSONAL BELONGINGS OF ELIZABETH TAYLOR THROUGH CATHERINE OPIE’S NEW PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT, 700 NIMES ROAD
NSU Art Musuem Fort Lauderdale presents an intimate look at the home and personal belongings of Elizabeth Taylor through Catherine Opie’s new photography exhibit, 700 Nimes Road. Inspired by William Eggleston’s images of Elvis Presley’s Memphis estate, Graceland Opie creates a portrait of Taylor through carefully capturing the actress’ momentos, jewelry, clothing, shoes, handbags, personal décor and style at her Bel-Air, California residence. Although Taylor is not the subject of any of the photos, Opie’s exhibit carefully captures her essence. Telling the story not just of WHERE Liz lived, 700 Nimes Road in bel Aire, it captures a deeper story
through her most treasured possessions of who she was, by looking at HOW she lived. Taken over the course of six months, three months before her death, and three months after. Each photo makes its own individual statement, providing its own revelation about the star. These photos together form a collection of ideas or statements that build up, and what takes shape is the anatomy, the true makeup of the woman, that was Elizabeth. Opie’s exhibit creates a more personal, intimate picture than perhaps any physical portrait could have. CATHERINE OPIE: 700 NIMES ROAD will be on view at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale February 12 – June 18, 2017

REDEFINED Metropolitan Luxe sat down with Michael Tilson Thomas to learn about his vision for the future of music and the boundary-pushing initiatives taking place in our backyard by Mariana Rodrigues
D
uring a recent TED talk, conductor Michael Tilson Thomas shared an experience he had watching kids play baseball in the streets of New York City: “…a tough, slouchy kid got up to bat, and he took a swing and really connected. And he watched the ball fly for a second, and then he went, ‘Dah dadaratatatah. Brah dada dadadadah.’ And he ran around the bases. And I thought, go figure. How did this piece of 18th century Austrian aristocratic entertainment turn into the victory crow of this New York kid? How was that passed on? How did he get to hear Mozart?”
From a young age, Tilson Thomas, known as MTT, has been fascinated by music and the role that it plays in people’s lives. “What happens when the music stops? Where does it go? What’s left? What sticks with people in the audience at the end of a performance? Is it a melody or a rhythm or a mood or an attitude? And how might that change their lives?” said MTT. It was this fascination that led him to a legendary career in classical music. Known for his Grammy-winning interpretation of the complete Gustav Mahler symphony cycle with the San Francisco Symphony,

“...we were very interested in bringing music to people, sharing it with them in ways that bordered on social engineering, as well as artistic ambition. We’ve developed a variety of different programs that seek to accomplish that.”
MTT is also Conductor Laureate of the London Symphony Orchestra and in 2010 was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama. Over the years, his fervent appreciation of music evolved into a desire to teach and pass on that passion to the next generation of musicians and music enthusiasts, prompting him to co-found the New World Symphony (NWS) with Ted and Lin Arison. The Miami Beach-based NWS is dedicated to the artistic, professional and personal development of young musicians. As Artistic Director, his vision for the Symphony stemmed primarily from his concern about the future of young musicians. “This started in a very personal way when I was working at Tanglewood and other summer programs. I would often ask them ‘what are you going to do next year?,’ and very often the answer was ‘I don’t know. I guess I could go to grad school, or try to break into the freelance pool.’ I thought it would be fantastic to have a place where they could continue to be on the cutting edge of honing their skills, where they could be in touch with many musicians representing different types of musical traditions, from Baroque to contemporary music, and that would serve as a launching pad for their careers.” In the 29 years since its cofounding, NWS has done just that, launching 40 | MetropolitanLuxe.com
the careers of more than 1000 alumni worldwide. Described as a ‘laboratory for the way music is taught, presented and experienced,’ it is no surprise that Miami, with its vibrant and diverse culture, was selected as the home of NWS. “We can take risks there,” said MTT during a 2014 interview with the Financial Times. And risks they are taking. Beyond an academy for up and coming musicians, the Symphony is exploring new ways to bring music to the masses. “[As co-founders] we were very interested in bringing music to people, sharing it with them in ways that bordered on social engineering, as well as artistic ambition. We’ve developed a variety of different programs that seek to accomplish that. We regularly commission video artists, filmmakers and animators to create visuals to accompany the music we perform so existing and new audiences can access the music in a different way. We produce evenings like New Work, dedicated to the commissioning and exploration of music, poetry, film and theater; Pulse: Late Night, which merges DJ music alongside classical music; evenings that combine activities such as a yoga class with a concert; and WALLCAST concerts, in which we project

concerts taking place inside the concert hall onto our front wall for audiences outside in the park.” Over the years, NWS has pioneered what they refer to as ‘alternative formats’ to push the boundaries of classical music. Their latest initiative, Project 305, seeks to connect music, community and culture in a new way by creating Miami’s first crowdsourced symphony and accompanying video reflective of the city as seen and heard by its people. For 100 days (January 31 to May 12, 2017) anyone can be a part of the creative process by recording audio and video clips that show what life in Miami is like. The final piece will premiere on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the New World Center, with viewings taking place at partner venues throughout Miami-Dade County. “We want everyone to feel like this is as much their work of art as it is ours, because we truly have the opportunity here to do something very special,” Miami filmmaker 42 | MetropolitanLuxe.com
Jonathan David Kane told SouthFlorida. com. Kane will produce the film that will accompany the symphony by guest composer Ted Hearne with overall artistic direction by MTT. The collaborative project, a partnership between New World Symphony, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and MIT Media Lab, is modeled after the collaborative City Symphonies created throughout the world by innovative composer, inventor and educator Tod Machover. According to Victoria Rogers, vice president of arts for the Knight Foundation, NWS’
record of using technology for community engagement makes it an ideal fit for this project: “It’s just another great way of breaking down barriers to access to classical music.” The hope is for programs like this one to have the same impact on the community as Mozart did on that young man playing baseball, opening them up to a new world and a deeper way of expressing themselves and their story.

“It’s exciting and reaffirming that so many people today are making meaningful connections and contributions to classical music – from those continuing the tradition of maverick American composers to young musicians emerging from America’s orchestral academies. But most of all, there are countless people discovering for the first time that classical music is for them, that it is about them and about the world they inhabit,” said MTT.
many people – teachers, parents, performers – to be explorers together. We need your perspectives, your curiosity, your voices.”
There are few better examples of that than the YouTube Symphony Orchestra (YTSO). The 96-member ensemble, directed by MTT, was selected from exclusively online video auditions and inspired by the vision and work of NWS.
So what is next for MTT and NWS? “It’s impossible for us to completely envision all the directions we’re going, but we know that in addition to reaffirming the great traditions of the past, we want to explore what the possibilities of the future may be. I still believe in the transformative quality that a musical performance can have on the lives of the people who perform it and the people who listen to it… And it excites me to meet people who are hikers, chefs, code writers, taxi drivers, people I never would have guessed who loved the music and who are passing it on. You don’t need to worry about knowing anything. If you’re curious, if you have a capacity for wonder, if you’re alive, you know all that you need to know. You can start anywhere. Ramble a bit. Follow traces. Get lost. Be surprised, amused and inspired.”
“The exciting thing is all this is just a prototype. There’s just a role here for so

beam master suite features extraordinary volume and space. The master suite is completed by a large en-suite head with separate shower. A similar interior design distinguishes the VIP suite at the far bow, while the guest cabin features bunk beds on the starboard side. The head with separate shower in the VIP suite is shared with the third cabin and can also be used as a day toilet. There is a surprising amount of space outside as well. The sun deck is divided into a dining area with central table and bar unit at the stern and a central outside pilot station. A retractable sun canopy shelters guests during the hottest hours of the day. The bow of the yacht is also all about relaxation thanks to the central sun pad on the deckhouse. The Ferretti Yachts 450 is fitted with a pair of Cummins QSB 6.7 engines. The owner can choose from two versions: either 480 Mhp or 550 Mhp. The first option will give the
new yacht a cruising speed of 25 knots with a maximum speed of 29 knots, while with the second option Ferretti Yachts 450 will reach a cruising speed of 27 knots and a top speed of 31 knots (preliminary data). The new yacht can also be fitted with a practical joystick system to make maneuvering and mooring even easier.

Forward, an opulent single or matching pair of bathrooms is accessed off the dressing area which also features two substantial walk-in wardrobes. 75 Motor Yachts Show Debut
The enormous professional galley was designed to the exacting brief of a professional chef and is equipped with two catering-size fridge-freezers, a hot and cold chef’s pass and a huge pantry. To ensure everything is served swiftly and easily there is even a dumb-waiter which runs from the main deck to both the upper deck and sun deck above. The wheelhouse is equally impressive with a vast ‘glass bridge’ incorporating the control and monitoring system in a stunning console and the captain’s cabin is also situated here adjourning the helm. Power comes from a pair of MTU 12V diesels, which will propel her to speeds of up to 22 knots. Two 80kW generators share the machinery space, where the automatic fuel handling system is sensitive not just to the needs of the engine and generators, but to the trim of the hull as well.
Making her show debut the Princess 75 Motor Yacht offers efficient, agile cruising, enabling you to plane at lower speeds. Her deck layout provides a variety of options to entertain or relax including a walkthrough foredeck with U-shaped seating and sunbathing area. She’s also sociable whilst underway with L-shaped seating either side of the upper helm. The flybridge also offers space aft to fit a crane and store a tender. Natural light flows in to her main deck through extended window lines and a unique full-height window on the port side to make the free standing dining area a spectacular place to entertain. Forward on the lower deck, all three guest cabins are en suite whilst a dedicated staircase leads to the owner’s stateroom amidships via a private lobby area.

DESIGNING ON TREND South Florida’s industry experts give their take on the top trends they expect to see at the forefront of interior design for 2017.
FANNY HAIM
Interior designer, Fanny Haim & Associates
TREND: Color Wave
A trend to watch out for is the use of color. We are seeing brand new color ways coming in from vendors that are refreshing, innovative, and different - it’s almost as though we haven’t seen these colors before. We are particularly excited about Holland & Sherry’s new Primo Lux Cotton Velvet and Linen Chintz collections that are offering a fresh take on color. We are enthusiastic to utilize these tones in a controlled fashion or as we like to call it: ‘controlled color’. These strong, yet highly sophisticated hues are going to work well with rich, contrasting counterpoints. It’s all in the ratio. Designer, Fanny Haim, Holland & Sherry interiors new Primo Lux Cotton Velvet (Ivory, Lake, Calypso).

EMMANUELLE BERNARD
Interior designer & founder of L’Appartement
TREND: Tropical Design
2017 will see a continuation of the tropical trend that started last year. There will be lots of greenery prints but balanced by more sober furniture inspired by Bauhaus architecture and graphic design. Look for Geometric shapes, black lines, and palm tree inspired prints that will look even more fierce and wild. The typical 2017 interior is a mix inspired by french post-impressionist painter Henri (Le Douanier) Rousseau jungle, and architect, Le Corbusier’s famous Villa Savoye in France, complemented by bold objects. In terms of colors you can expect a lot of dense green, a deep blue that can vary from navy to peacock married with pale pink, gold or a bright red.

MYRNA PORCARO
Architect and interior designer, Myrna Gondim Porcaro
TREND: Blue & green pallets and sophisticated textures Since Pantone just named Greenery its color of the year, expect to see strong green trends. I would say all shades of green and blue will be in the most successful pallets this year. Likely to continue in popularity, and one of my favorite trends is customized artistic finishes on walls, wallpaper, furniture and objects including one-of-a-kind collections made by designers, specific for each client. This makes the pieces exclusive and very charming. Other trends to look for include-Sophisticated textures that push us to touch such as velvets, leathers and suede.

Fitness and wellness experts, and founders of the V Art of Wellness, Tracie and Christopher Vlaun talk about their innovative workout program, the key to achieving wellness goals and their recent partnership with the Confidante Hotel
V
Art of Wellness is about raising your vibration,” Tracie Vlaun, one part of the dynamic fitness duo explains. V Art of Wellness offers cutting-edge beach bootcamps, yoga, and outdoor functional fitness in 60-minute class sessions that focus on how you feel and not the pounds, the inches and aesthetics. We want you to “get away from the mirrors, its very discouraging for a lot of people,” Tracie explains. By aligning Chris’ off the mat fitness style with Tracie’s yoga training, the couple designed programs that mimic natural or “primal movements” like sprints, lunges, push-ups / pull-ups, crawling, and squatting. This fusion resulted in the creation of their innovative and signature workout method, Aeroga. The fitness/yoga hybrid is set to inspiring music tracks, resulting in fun and engaging workouts with just enough intensity to be challenging, but not overwhelming. “I wanted to incorporate

music, more like a dance flow choreography, and people were like this is super yoga. Throughout the songs and movement it’s all about connecting, music, energy, body flow.” Known as the “outdoor fitness experts,” the couple explains that taking the workouts outside is a key component of their program’s strategy and philosophy. “We take very discerning clientele that have difficulty focusing and bring them out of the gym, removing the walls, removing the ego and have them training in a way where they become more connected to themselves which then becomes more empowering” says Chris. The outdoors also offer a practical purpose as the body on average expends 30 percent more energy working out in the sand, which is likely to reap greater results. Operating on a premise that is contrary to many of todays fitness programs that focus on specific timelines and numbers, The V Art of Wellness philosophy is focused on feeling
good. Chris explains that “in the fitness world you’ll see a lot of ' follow this for 90 days and you’ll get two inches off your waist' and then you’ll be happy, but what happens if you don’t accomplish that, you’re setting yourself up to be unhappy.” Instead the focus is on “having a connection with yourself and body, and getting addicted to that. The byproduct of that process is you’ll look better. It all starts with you. This hour is an opportunity for you to manufacture happiness, good feelings and good vibrations” says Chris. The Vlauns, who regularly work with CEOs, high net worth individuals, professional athletes, celebrities, and royalty also have residencies at the W Ft. Lauderdale, The St. Regis Bal Harbour, and most recently have teamed up with The Confidante in Miami Beach to create a dynamic wellness program available to hotel guests and locals alike. The specially crafted program takes advantage of the hotel’s prime beachfront location and 10th floor open-air rooftop spa, and is offered

daily at 10 am. For hotel guests the cost is included as an amenity within the hotel’s daily resort fee. The cost per class for nonhotel guests is $20. Class options include Beachcross Bootcamp, Aeroga, Shred Bootcamp, a total body workout for muscular strength and endurance, Body Circuit Bootcamp and yoga focused classes like Dynamic Flow Yoga, Yoga Flow, Yoga Core Fusion, and Beach Bliss Yoga. Next on the agenda for the wellness team is the creation of a workshop series that focuses on their Aeroga Method, and that will extend into a teacher-training program to allow other instructors to share the Aeroga Method all over the world. There are also plans for the creation of a line of yoga mats, equipment, accessories and clothing that will be enhance the experience of the Aergo Method. Atlantikós Takes a Fresh Approach to Fine Greek Cuisine By Melissa Bryant
F
rom its Mediterranean-inspired décor to its Greek-sourced products, the new indooroutdoor Atlantikós restaurant at The St. Regis Bal Harbour tells an unexpected story of the Greek Islands. “We are not another Greek restaurant,” says General Manager and native Grecian Panos Nikiforou. “We try to be very authentic with our recipes. There will be some new dishes you probably haven’t seen, ingredients you haven’t tasted, and dishes you haven’t experienced.” Stepping inside the intimate 200-seat seaside eatery, which opened last November, guests are immediately transported across the Atlantic to the island of Santorini. Fabrics and draperies are adorned with the decorative Greek Key pattern, white-washed woods are seen throughout the restaurant, and blue agate tables and counters lie beneath a trellis framed by towering mosaic columns. Amidst a sea of bright blue and milky white, reminiscent of the glimmering waters of the Aegean Sea and the white-washed houses of the Greek Islands, a live guitar player sets the tone for an authentic dining experience on a quiet Thursday evening. In one sitting, guests can figuratively hop from Greek island to island, sampling the best each has to offer. In fact, 75 percent of the restaurant’s products, including the fish, cheeses and oil, come straight from Greece. Using these fresh ingredients, Greek-born Chef de Cuisine Anastasios Chasekioglo has re-imagined traditional recipes from his travels throughout the islands and personal recipes from his grandmother into Atlantikós’ eclectic menu, featuring vegetarian and gluten free options. Standout appetizers (mezze) include the grilled octopus (octapodi fava) served over a mesmerizing mixture of pickled sea fennel, caper berries, caramelized onions and fava beans from Santorini, as well as the tzatziki spread made with chili oil and spiced, barrel-aged feta from northern Greece. Entrees, categorized as “ocean,” “land,” or “vegetarian,” come in ample portion sizes meant for
sharing. For a taste of the islands, go for a seaworthy delight such as fresh-caught red snapper cooked in a clay crust or the more unusual sea urchin linguini with tomato, garlic, parsley and oil. I, however, recommend the melt-in-your-mouth grilled Colorado lamb chops (arnisia paidakia) drizzled with a delicate lemon mustard sauce and served over perfectly spiced oven baked potatoes. It will make you swear off of gyros indefinitely. Make sure to save room for dessert (and dessert wine) which ranges from the more familiar baklava to the tasty portokalopita, a traditional orange pie with Greek yogurt ice cream. My meal ended with a made-to-order cup of Greek coffee, brewed Turkish-style in hot sand. Nikiforou says that in Greece, diners turn their cup over after drinking this coffee to have their fortune told from the thick residue left at the bottom of the cup. And while I didn’t have my future foretold, I’m certain it includes another meal at Atlantikós. Atlantikós serves breakfast (buffet and a la carte), lunch and dinner seven days a week and is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Sunday. program of events for the Festival’s 16th year… with an array of dinners, tastings, seminars, and parties showcasing a variety of cuisines, wines and spirits from around the world, guests will find plenty of ways to satiate their taste buds at this year’s Festival.”

he who is who of the culinary world will converge on South Florida, February 22 – 26, for the 16th annual Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival. With a diverse line-up of more than 90 events, there is something for everyone to enjoy. We caught up with Festival Founder and Senior Vice President, Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility for Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, Lee Brian Schrager to discuss. METROPOLITAN LUXE: The festival has developed a very loyal following over the years however there is special group of “been- there-done-thaters” that shrug at the mention of the festival and wince at navigating the crowds. Why should they give the SOBEWFF another shot in 2017? LEE SCHRAGER: We do have very loyal fans, and we are always appreciative of their support for what we do and for FIU. For those on the fence, they probably haven’t been to our signature Goya Foods’ Grand Tasting Village in a few years – we made significant investments and changes for the 2015 Festival, including introducing
a free park-n-ride option from Downtown Miami, and have had very positive feedback from the community since revamping the event. Additionally, I always encourage people to visit our website, sobewff. org – because there are events to satisfy everyone’s style and taste – from the large tastings, to intimate dinners with worldrenowned chefs, to our wine seminars, to the late-night parties (many of them under $100) – many people don’t realize the variety of options that are available to them to take part in the action. ML: You’re introducing several new events this year, which one are you most excited to present? LS: I’m really looking forward to the dinner hosted by the world’s top-rated chef, Massimo Bottura, with Giada De Laurentiis, and also our signature Tribute Dinner at Loews Miami Beach hotel, honoring José Andrés this year with Master of Ceremonies Anthony Bourdain and special presentation from Gloria Estefan. ML: 2016 saw the introduction of the Taste Fort Lauderdale series, and
this year’s program shows continued expansion into Broward County, tell us a bit about that. LS: We’re bringing back the fan-favorite Seaside Eats and Bloody Mary Brunch events that anchored the series last year – with Seaside Eats hosted by Anne Burrell and the Bloody Mary Brunch hosted by David Burtka & Neil Patrick Harris this year. And brand new, we’re producing our first late-night party in the popular FATVillage neighborhood – DRINK Fort Lauderdale: A Cocktail Time Machine Experience – featuring snacks from a handful of Broward’s most popular food trucks. ML: I’m not sure most people realize how much of an impact the SOBEWFF® has on our community. Beyond creating a “boom” for local businesses, the festival has raised more than $24 million to date for the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University. Can you shed some light on how this is invested back into the development of the culinary craft within our community?
LS: In addition to the funds raised for the School, we provide an interactive educational platform for students to receive hands-on learning experiences from leaders in the culinary, beverage, hotel and hospitality industries each year. It is an invaluable opportunity for the future leaders of the industry to connect with current professionals. ML: We spoke about this year’s new events, now let’s talk about the best of the rest. Which event never gets old for you? Are there any new spins on any of the festivals “classic” events? LS: Our Tribute Dinner, which I mentioned above, is always a very special evening. And watching a chef win the People’s Choice Award at the Heineken Light Burger Bash presented by Schweid & Sons hosted by Rachael Ray is always a fun moment. Our signature tasting event – the Goya Foods’ Grand Tasting Village – features a new collaboration with nightlife guru David Grutman on Sunday, February 26 this year.

Indulge Better than Ever! PORSCHE PANAMER A 2017
The Porsche Panamera has come a long way since its debut in 2009. The 2017 models are breaking new ground with a bold and sexy look, and improved performance. With long, dynamic proportions, pronounced shoulders, and a roof line that is 20 mm lower at the rear the Panamera’s stylistic link to Porsche’s design icon, the 911 - is clear. Elevating the already superior performance formula to a new level, all second generation Panamera models have redesigned engines, where efficiency is as much the focus as power. Look for a completely new interior design, with touch-sensitive surfaces replacing classic buttons, and
high-resolution displays integrated seamlessly into the interior. Two new twin-turbo gasoline engines with direct fuel injection are being introduced in the Panamera Turbo and the Panamera 4S. Both models are equipped with a permanent all-wheel drive system and a new eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK). The Panamera Turbo is powered by a 550 hp twin-turbo V8, while the Panamera 4S is equipped with a 440 hp twin-turbo V6. Pricing for the Panamera 4S starts at $99,900, while the Panamera Turbo starts at $146,900, excluding fees.
