raving something sweet, fresh and new this Summer? “Strawberry Shortcake” is not just America’s favorite dessert, but also McKenna Camille’s smashing new single that’s sure to delight. This pop/dance song has a 1970’s twist that blends old and new sounds for something truly original.

We sat down with the singer, songwriter, model, and actress McKenna Camille to speak with her about her newly released single “Strawberry Shortcake.” Check out the interview here:
I recorded it at Studio City Sound in Studio City, California.
How did you come up with the music? I told my producer that I wanted a Summery song that had a little 70’s flair to it, and we went from there. What inspired you to write this song? I love Summer, so it was a combination of that, and I also really wanted to make a song that reminds me of those cheesy summer teen drama movies. Did it have to do with a past experience or something you are going through now?

I work with NiMusic. Did you have a co-writer? I wrote the song with Eric Johnson and Danial Jacobson. Where did you record it?
What’s one trick you use for keeping your vocal cords lubricated and to avoid losing your voice! Lukewarm water! Not cold, not hot, just in the middle. When do you expect the song to be released? It was released on August 1st! Is that there anything out now that is comparable or similar? Many artists are releasing Summer songs, so yes, but I don’t know of many artists who are trying to bring back 70’s music.
I mean yes and no. It’s a very lighthearted song, but that being said, it’s also about thinking about that perfect Summer you had/ want to have.
Will you be releasing remixes?
Why was it important to write this song? I really want to start bringing more of a 70’s inspiration into my music and pop music in general, while still keeping with modern pop. I think a Summer song was the perfect way to lightly introduce this!
