Gorakhpur Metro (Metrolite) is a light rail transit (LRT) system approved to be built in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, by Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UPMRCL). Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRCL) was assigned as the 'coordinator' by Uttar Pradesh's Government to bring all stakeholders together and get Gorakhpur Metro's Phase 1 project started In 2017. Later in the year, RITES was assigned to prepare its feasibility report, and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) submitted to UPMRCL in March 2019. Gorakhpur Metrolite will be 27.41 km long with two lines & 27 stations. The first line would be constructed from Shyam Nagar to Suba Bazar that cover 16.95 km of distance and comprises 16 stations. Line-1 – Shyam Nagar – Sooba Bazar (16.95 km) • Type: Elevated • Depot: Sooba Bazar • Stations (16): Shyam Nagar, Bargadwa, Shastri Nagar, Nathmalpur, Gorakhnath Mandir, Hazaripur, Dharmshala, Gorakhpur Railway Station, University, Mohaddipur, Ramgarh Lake, AIIMS, Malviya Nagar, MMM Engineering College, Divya Nagar, Sooba Bazar The second line would be constructed from Gulriha to Kacheri Chauraha that covers 10.46 km of distance and comprises 11 stations Line-2 – Gulriha – Kachehri Chauraha (10.46 km) • Type: Elevated • Depot: Mugalaha • Stations (11): Gulariha, BRD Medical College, Mugalaha, Khanjanchi Bazar, Basharatpur, Ashok Nagar, Vishnu Nagar, Asuran Chowk, Dharamshala, Gol Ghar, Kachehri Chauraha Estimated Project Cost: Rs 4,672 crore
