Discovery Tae Kwon Do Center has proudly served the Watsonville community since 2006. Founded by Carlos Monroy, who brings 30 years of teaching experience from Los Angeles to Seaside and beyond, the school has flourished under the leadership of his son Walter since 2011. A dedicated 5th dan black belt, Walter continues the family legacy with passion and commitment. The entire Monroy family plays a vital role in the success of Discovery Tae Kwon Do, with sisters Carla and Itzel, mother Lilia, and wife Nancy all contributing to the school’s mission
of excellence. Together, they strive to make Discovery Tae Kwon Do the best it can be! Our mission is to empower the community by encouraging children to engage in sports and develop strong leadership skills for life. Witnessing our students grow and thrive over the years is truly inspiring!
In Tae Kwon Do, “Tae” translates to “to kick” or “to strike with the foot,” “Kwon” means “to punch” or “to strike with the fist,” and “Do” signifies “art” or “way of life.” Together, these terms embody a martial art that emphasizes both physical skill and personal growth.
