COMMUNITY ALLIANCE WITH FAMILY FARMERS (CAFF) is a statewide nonprofit that

FOOD FOR THOUGHT (FFT) is a nonprofit

dedicated to meeting the nutrition needs of people living with serious medical conditions throughout Sonoma County. Our mission is to foster health and healing with food and compassion.

We were founded in 1988 amidst the AIDS epidemic to provide groceries to our seriously ill neighbors. Over time, we have expanded our eligibility to include low-income clients who are affected by a wide range of serious medical conditions and at risk of malnutrition. In the past year, FFT served more than 6,000 people, including men, women and children of parents living with HIV, COVID-19 and congestive heart failure, those recently released from the hospital who are at risk of malnutrition, and seriously ill people experiencing homelessness. In 2021, FFT was voted Best Nonprofit by North Bay Bohemian readers.

works to build sustainable food and farming systems through policy advocacy and on-theground programs that create more resilient family farms, communities and ecosystems.

From the grassroots up, CAFF is built by the community for the community, from farmers in the field to citizens fighting for a more just, regenerative food system, from fourth generation ranchers to the farmworkers who make our food system possible. Members comprise the foundation of our work; we are guided and empowered by people like you to continue our efforts supporting family farms throughout California. The Sonoma County CAFF chapter is led by a team of volunteers who keep in close contact with our local farming community. These range from small scale, no-till vegetable farmers to biodynamic grape growers and livestock operators who restore native riparian vegetation and control invasive weeds with carefully managed grazing. To learn more, visit caff.org/chapters/sonoma-county.

LOS CIEN advances belonging, trust

and equity by engaging with our community, facilitating honest dialogue, and elevating Latinx pride and power in Sonoma County. Our vision is of orgullo (pride) & equity for Latinos in Sonoma County! Los Cien serves as a liaison between the Latino community and the wider community by helping to create dialogue and common understanding, cultivating current and future leadership through education and civic engagement, and conducting educational and charitable activities that are consistent with this purpose. As a recent example, Los Cien hosted an online event, “Behind the Lines – Wildfires & Farmworker Safety” to share the first hand perspective of a local farmworker who bears the burden of these conflicting pressures. That was followed with a panel that offered insight into the pressing questions our community needs to ask about workers behind the line.
