Our story began more than 25 years ago, when Danish designer Mette Ditmer founded our company. Today, the Mette Ditmer designs can be found in homes all over the world. We are all sentient beings; and therefore it is essential to us that our products appeal to multiple senses and are not only visually pleasing. The products should feel good when being used and they have to withstand everyday use. It is our belief that it makes a huge difference when we choose quality in the products we are surrounded by.
WELCOME Our collections are deeply inspired by Mette's fondness of mindfulness and conscious living and is reflected in her timeless designs, characterized by straight lines and an amazing attention to detail. The throw-away mentality does not appeal to us. This is why we are determined to make every new collection a continuation of the previous, so you can mix and match the new items with the products you already have.
METTE DITMER • WHO WE ARE
S EN SO R IAL FO CU S To us tactility in a product is a must. We believe that real quality should be visible to the eye even before the first touch.
OUR CONCEPT The Mette Ditmer collection revolves around the interplay between complementary and contrasting colours, shapes, textures, and surfaces. Form follows function, and all the MD items possess their own tactility featuring organic shapes, smooth surfaces, and a dusty, yet daring colour mix and graphically inspired patterns. With the Mette Ditmer universe we sell a lifestyle, not only products... and we aim to reflect this in everything we do.
METTE DITMER • WHO WE ARE
VA L U E S We are serious about taking responsibility for our impact on society and environment. It is important for us that our collaborators around the world comply with our code of conduct and provide optimal work conditions for their employees. Towel- and bedding linens made in organic cotton are now a firm part of the collection as well as bed covers made from 80% recycled cotton mix. We are also proud to present glass vases made of 100% recycled glass. We are constantly looking for new innovative ways to produce our designs sustainably. Nevertheless we believe that the very best kind of sustainability is long-lasting design and quality.

RECYCLING
Since 2010 Mette Ditmer has retreated to an old monastery twice a year to create new designs for her collection. Time for contemplation is very important to Mette – both workwise as well as privately, and she enjoys the unbroken tranquility and silence that allows her creativity to flow freely. This tranquility is reflected in the designs, in the colours, and in the small details which are all part of Mette Ditmer’s design-DNA. Mette sees the home as a base for reloading where time for self indulgence and conscious living is prioritized, and this is what "mindful design" is all about.

Glass is an amazing substance. It can be recycled over and over again. The good thing about glass recycling is that the glass retains its quality.

The glass used for the SONATA vases is sourced from glass containers. Only glass without any additives is selected for the recycling. The glass can be melted at 40% lower temperatures than a standard production of raw glass, which saves a lot of energy. This recycling process is a beautiful example of sustainability and the “cradleto-cradle” way of thinking. Imagine how many bottles and glass jars that are used daily around the world. If we were to simply throw them away, the environment would suffer greatly.

Recycled glass reduces the emissions of air and water pollution by respectively 20% and 40% compared to a new glass production. Reducing industrial pollution not only benefits the environment but also the entire ecosystem. The saved energy in recycling 3 bottles only is enough to charge a smartphone battery for one year!

FRAME IT! With DANISH ART STUDIO a new series of poster art is introduced. Mette Ditmer has created these beautiful posters with her distinctive and stylish sense of colour composition, combining simple patterns and colour blocks in either, soft tone-in-tone harmonies or more contrasting expressions. The posters are created in small series of two or three matching posters, but there is also plenty of opportunity to mix and match the different art pieces across the series.
TILTWS09
It doesn't matter if your wall is painted in a calm and clean white nuance or in a warm and dusty colour tone, these posters are ideal for creating a beautiful focal point in your living space. Whether grouped together, mixed with other evocative images and posters – maybe as a gallery wall in your own home – or simply a single poster by itself in a beautiful frame. The possibilities for creating a stylish interior are endless.

BY HAND The BY HAND accessory line is based on Mette Ditmer’s own ceramic craftings. It embraces the imperfect; the handmade expression and uniqueness of each item, in opposition to the uniformity of regular mass production.
The posters are printed in Denmark on 200g FSC certified paper. FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council®, which is considered the "gold standard" designation for wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable.

PROUD NERDS We are proud to be nerds in our field, as every little detail of a product matters to us. When developing a new product we dive deep into the production aspects to understand the full potential or limitation in the process – and thereby get the best results. To us design is aesthetics, functionality, and quality – and all three elements should be present to define what is truly good design.

To give a room the perfect styling, it is important to use the right materials and colour combinations. When these elements work together, they provide a greater whole for the room as well as an inviting ambience. The personal touch is essential; depending on which “story” the room should tell, I use the natural light and then determine which style reflects the customers in order for them to recognize themselves in the room – meanwhile I also like to challenge them a little. As an interior stylist who decorates private homes, offices, restaurants, photoshoots and TV-shows, the cooperation with brands and suppliers is very important. It is imperative to me that the products I use in my styling meet the customer’s needs and wishes. It is also of utmost importance that the supplier has a dynamic design approach and understands the importance of innovation. I choose Mette Ditmer’s products for my styling jobs in order to give the rooms and interior decoration a modern look with a little daring twist.
This is another reason why I find the Mette Ditmer collection so easy to work with. I can mix and match between colours, shapes, and materials to create the perfect setting. You can always tell if a designer has had his or her heart involved in the design process. If there’s a story to tell or a sense to be sensed. You get that feeling from the Mette Ditmer designs. Beautiful quality items that possess a unique signature.
The MD products are pure in style and have a beautiful and contempoary expression. I can rest assured that they are always in sync with the current colour trends, and a perfect match for the modern home. Most important: the quality lives up to the look.
METTE DITMER • WHO WE ARE
TIMONIALS Søllerød Kro in Holte, Denmark opened its doors back in 1677 where it quickly became an important part of the local area. Later on the inn became a popular destination, with people coming from far away to dine, socialize and enjoy the inn’s historic and idyllic surroundings. Søllerød Kro received its first Michelin Star back in 1987 and has had a star in the Michelin Guide every year since 2007. When the global Covid-19 pandemic broke out in early 2020 Søllerød Kro became part of the “safe to visit” program developed by HORESTA (organization for Denmark’s restaurant, hotel and tourism industry). The program makes sure that guidelines for guest handling, cleaning and hygiene comply with the Danish Health Authority’s requirements. To make sure every visitor would have a safe visit to the inn, Søllerød Kro reached out to Mette Ditmer and ordered several dispensers, so that hand sanitizer would be available at every table in the restaurant. “It’s important that our guests feel safe and welcome at Søllerød Kro. The history, the atmosphere and, of course, the food – everything is meticulously seen to and well taken care of. So when we decided to put hand sanitizer on every table, we didn’t want to use the more sterile looking bottles you normally see, but we wanted a more classic looking dispenser, that would match the look and feel of our restaurant. Mette Ditmer’s dispensers came to mind, and we couldn’t be happier with our decision. The dispensers serve as a practical and hygienic purpose but look amazing at the same time.”
