It and the jabot are cut with a straight bottom allowing you to use fabric borders and wide braids. Can be cut as a seamless valance if desired. This swag design has three pleats at the bottom. The top portion is gathered to create a fan shape. The top and bottom pieces are cut separately and then sewn together. This allows you to use contrasting fabrics, if you like. The seam that joins them will not show. The swag widths extend 32” to 54”. The swag depth is 18”. When more than one swag is used, side by side, use the tail to fill the gap in between. The tail is 14” deep. The jabot hangs about 33” deep. Bow pattern included. No alterations.

Valances can be any width, any depth. As is, it will finish 15” at shortest and 22” at tapered sides. The header is an additional 3”. Optional petticoat will drop 2” below the valance. Unusual curve of the board pattern creates the shoulder effect. Braid instructions are included.

All new instructions for an easier construction! It’s different from the Empire! Fullness comes from behind the horns vs. from the top of board. Requires a different shape of the pattern and different construction. Can be gathered or pleated. Can be cut as a seamless valance, if desired. Includes cutting lines for 16”, 18”, and 20” swag depth. A single swag section can be 16” to 38” wide, add more swag sections for larger windows. Jabot depth is 30” to 35”. This design can be used with a side section at each side and scallop sections in between. Separate tails place over the seams. Separate jabots cover the mount board ends. Another choice is to use only scallop sections, with tails and jabots. The other alternative is to use just the two side sections with a tail and jabots.

This is a beautiful and easy way to use a contrast fabric, giving the illusion of a complicated banding. With View A, the middle scallops finish 15” deep, jabots 30” with a 2 1/2” continental rod in the center. View B, with a straight bottom hangs 12” deep from the top of the rod, jabots 25 1/2”. View C has the straight bottom at the rear and the scallop bottom in front. Each small scallop fills 5” to 7” of rod space. Each jabot has two top scallops that covers 10” to 14” of rod space (this includes returns).

This rod pocket valance can be used with a standard curtain rod or with a 2 1/2” continental rod. It can be made with or without a 2” header, with jabots or with simple returns. The elaborate headers are sleeves on a 2 1/2” continental rod, installed separately to hug the top of the valance. These sleeves can also be used to create beautiful window treatments on their own. This valance has the simplicity of only two swag pleats, but their deep angles make the valance look amply full. The construction is simple and easy. Swag widths extend 14” to 18”. Not including trim, the swag depth is 15” to 18”. The horn depth is 12” to 15”. Choose from the gathered return, which hangs the same depth as the valance, or the jabot depth of 33” to 36”.

The flat valance hangs from the rod with rings. It drapes long at one side with a deep tapered pleat. The other end attaches to the top of the pole with the softness of three shallow pleats. The separate rosette placed at the top gives the appearance that the valance is tied to the pole. The short jabot is made and attached separately to the back of the pole, behind the valance pleats. Valance can be no smaller than 32” or as wide as you want. Depth is 10” to 30” (from top of pole at center of valance). Long tapered pleat is twice as deep as valance. This valance can also be board mounted. No Drapery Instructions.

Window #310 is a popular design from the “M’Fay Designer’s Digest”. These designs were created by mixing various patterns, and/or by changing an existing pattern. The valance design is actually two valances made the same depth, installed on separate boards. The top valance is installed 3” higher than the one underneath. The top valance also has a projection 1 1/2” deeper. This gives depth between the two valances. This is a soft, flat valance with pleats that “kick out” at the corners. The center of the board juts outward 4”, displaying the majestic valance beautifully. The board pattern and instructions are also included. The valance, as is, has a 20” deep point and 12” short point, and can be altered for any depth. There are complete instructions for a Straight Roman Shade. This soft valance consists of a center section, two horns, and two side sections. All pieces sew together to create one valance before attaching to the mount board. The valance depth is 18” at the center. The horn is 12 1/2” at the shortest point. The valance sides are about 49 1/2” deep. Depth alterations are included, but all pieces must alter the same amount. The pattern will fit windows 56” to 66” or wider. It is not recommended for more narrow windows. The wide sides would close it up too much, and the center scallop section would have to be too small in scale. The center section can be 14” to 24” wide. You can alter it to be wider, or you can use more than one, with horns in between. The side section finishes 21” wide (per side) on front of the board.

This soft valance is made of two separate parts. The optional underlay is also separate. The underlay can attach behind, at the center of the valance where the two pieces meet. The pattern will fit windows 48” to 68” wide. The valance has a 9” short point. Using the underlay, it has a 14” short point. The tapered sides hang about 49” deep.

The pointed section finishes 5 1/2” wide (between pleats). The end section finishes 8” wide. As is, the valance is 21 1/2” deep with a short point of 18”. The jabot is 35” deep. The depth of the valance can be altered, but all pieces have to be altered to fit each other. There are a variety of width sizes for the valance sections. There is also a 6” wide accent piece that is optional to use between the valance sections. Also included, is a decorative tail piece that is optional to use at each end. This valance has a center section with a side section, horn, and jabot on each side (or an alternative simple return). The finished valance is attached to 5 decorative holdbacks. If you choose, you can repeat as many center sections as you wish, there is an additional center pleat pattern to sew between them. The center section comes in sizes 18”, 22”, 26”, and 30”. Instructions to alter the width of the center section patterns are given. The side section comes in sizes 9” and 12”. For installation 6 holdbacks are needed. The valance will tie (or use an elastic loop) to the holdbacks.

This valance is gathered, using shirr tape, at the seam behind the horn. Instructions are included to alter the droop area and/or the fullness in the swags. There are no instructions for alterations to fit window sizes other than those stated. For installation 4 holdbacks are needed. The valance can attach with ties, or use elastic loops.
