The location of the project is Baan (village) Laemhin, Baan Ao Makharm and Baan Khlongkhian in Takauthung District, Phang-nga Province, which are situated in mangrove area in the vicinity of Ao Phang-nga National Park. The project has a main goal to rehabilitate and conserve mangrove and coastal resources consistent with national strategy on management and reversal of coastal erosion which would lead to virtual local actions ensuring rehabilitation results, revival of local knowledge and creating local sources of food for women’s group and younger generation. 9,833.91

Collective Rehabilitation and Conservation of Mangrove in Ao (gulf) Baan Don Suratthani (Punpin)

Budget (in USD):

An integrated marine and coastal ecosystems of the Gulf of Thailand/South China Sea in Ao (Gulf) Baan Don of Surathani Province with 120 km.long, the area once was rated as one of the richest spot in the Gulf of Thailand with various types of habitats such as mangrove, sea grass, and coral reefs. The project aims to contribute to rehabilitating and protecting local coastal resources with at least 20 % increase in mangrove , in integrated manner and at village, Tambol, District and provincial level. 9,722.22

Location of project is 19 communities in Phuket and Phang-nga Province situated mostly in middle portion of Phang-nga Bay who earn living through para rubber plantation, small-scale fishery, and general services in tourist industry. The project has a main goal to rehabilitate and conserve mangrove and coastal resources consistent with national strategy on management and reversal of coastal erosion which would lead to virtual local actions ensuring rehabilitation results, revival of local knowledge and creating local sources of food for women’s group and younger generation 9,347.08

A flat land with approximate area of 10 sq.km, connecting a wetland and mangrove in the Andaman ecosystems in Tambol Talingchan, Nua Klong District, Krabi Province. The entire area of the Tambol is about 24 sq.km. situated in a Ramsar Site with 6 villages under its administration. The project aims to encourage participatory process in rehabilitate, conserve and manage coastal resources which would result in increased capacity of communities, secured livelihood and sustainable coastal resources management. 8,805.40

Raising Awareness and Promoting Local Knowledge in Coastal Resource Management with People's Participation Phang Nga

Five coastal villages around lower part of Phangnga Bay in Muang District, Phangnga provice with specific ecosystems interconnected by four creeks. The location was regarded as one of the richest spot in the countries, with seagrass and coral reef. There are several endangered species depending upon these habitats. The project aims to promote learning process by compiling and upgrading local knowledge base on conservation and sustainable use of marine and coastal resources to be referred to in development planning and evaluation.

Evaluating and improving the management effectiveness of Thailand's Marine and Coastal Protected Areas *Andaman site - Satun, Phang Nga, Phuket, Trang, Ranong, Krabi *Gulf of Thailand - Rayong, Trat, Suratthani , Chumporn, Prachubkirichan (in total 21 gazetted MCPAs ) In recognition of the need to improve management effectiveness in Thailand’s MCPAs, the DNP is seeking to adopt a management effectiveness evaluation (MEE) system and to evaluate, in a comprehensive, systematic and participatory way, the effectiveness of the country’s MCPA system. This project will apply IUCN-WCPA's internationally recognized MEE Framework in Thailand for the first time and to evaulate management effectiveness in 21 of Thailand's MCPAs. The concrete recommendations to address management concerns will be maded and at the last stage of the project will demonstrate best practice management improvement activiites at 3 showcase sites. 280,000
