T
he first event of the season is the Curborough Sprint on Sunday April 11, organised as always by the Midlands Centre of the MG Car Club. All the signs are that it will go ahead with covid restrictions in place. That is to say that entries and signing-on will all take place online. In addition, there will be no spectators allowed and a restricted amount of back-up crew in line with the entry requirements. We can only hope that these rules will be relaxed as the year goes on. The following weekend, Saturday April 17, will be the Goodwood Sprint. This is a very popular event at this historic circuit and the same restrictions will apply. May 1-2 takes is to the Anglesey weekend. This consists of two different layouts. The Saturday event consists of two laps of the upper circuit and Sunday a single lap of the international outer circuit. This event is organised by the North West
Centre and has already created a lot of interest from the various invited clubs. As many of you will know, this is a superb venue and the lack of spectators will sadly curb the atmosphere. A word of warning, however. The Welsh government tend to have their own agenda with regard to Covid restrictions, and we can only hope that Anglesey Weekend will be able to go ahead in May. The rest of May is busy. There is a sprint at Llandow circuit on the 8th which could well suffer in the same way as Anglesey. The following day is the Farnborough and District Motor Club Sprint at Rushmoor. On the 15th is our first visit to Wiscombe this year. The following day, the 16th, is the annual Scammonden Hill Climb near Huddersfield, organised by the MGCC North West Centre. Perhaps by this time things will be opening up and we can return to the full enjoyment of our sport.
