ARCHITECTURAL STUDIES A bachelor’s degree in Architectural Studies at Kean gives students a rich academic background and rigorous training. But it gives them even more. It gives them exciting, real-world experience that will help them stand out as they take the next steps in their careers. As soon as students enter our program, they’ll begin working on real architectural and planning projects with their professors—projects of public architecture that put design in the service of the public
good—projects like the redesign and transformation of public spaces on Kean’s campuses and in government buildings in New Jersey. They learn the principles and practice of design, and gain experience working with the important players in every public project—clients, community groups, planning commissions, and government officials. In the process, students develop a 360-degree perspective on the way architects solve real-world problems. Fig. 4 Longitudinal / Cross Section & Scale Sketches

GRAPHIC DESIGN: INTERACTIVE ADVERTISING From TV commercials to Instagram posts to Snapchat Stories, advertising art directors are idea generators and brand storytellers. In the BFA Graphic Design: Interactive Advertising students focus on conceiving and creating the kind of ad campaigns you see across media channels, including print, broadcast, interactive, mobile, social, video-sharing, other screen-based media, out-of-home media (outdoor, public), and unconventional media. The curriculum includes a design foundation, liberal arts, design theory and art history, and major courses in advertising design, branding, interactive design, mobile media for advertising, animation for storytelling, and state-of-the-art tech, such as AR (augmented reality) and 360 video storytelling. Throughout your course of study, the emphasis is on strategic creative thinking and problem solving, practice-led discovery, design, presentation, portfolio development, and individual expression. We educate our students to be nimble thinkers who are prepared for new directions. You will graduate with a personal brand identity and competitive portfolio that will open doors. directors, art directors, copywriters, and designers will review your work and portfolio. We encourage students to pursue internships and part-time employment in the field, to participate in events sponsored by professional organizations such as the Art Directors Club, the One Club, the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), and attend the world-class Thinking Creatively Conference on our campus. The Interactive Advertising BFA prepares students to solve visual communication problems in advertising, generate relevant and creative omnichannel ideas based on strategy, and construct clear communications to a target (mass or micro/ special interest) audience and respond to audience contexts. Students design visual communication problems utilizing the principles of composition, typography, and aesthetics, create engaging work that grabs attention and resonates, and utilize the depth and breadth of one’s education in the liberal arts to solve problems in a global marketplace and connected world. They become proficient in software and understand the capabilities of all digital channels/platforms.
