That’s because in this line of business, delivery is frequently time-sensitive due to scheduling of surgeries, patient appointments and maintenance of machines. And when each country has unique carrier and service offerings that are preferred by the customer because of familiarity or a proven track record, needing to support a wide array of carrier services, and do it efficiently, is a business requirement. According to Daphne´ Mitrani, Service Supply Chain Systems and Programs Manager, “Manual processing was limiting our flexibility. We wanted to differentiate service levels based on requests from our customers, introduce new carriers, and better utilize our internal criteria to select the best available transportation service.”
THE SOLUTION: A MULTI-CARRIER SYSTEM WITH A GLOBAL PRESENCE GE Healthcare selected Precision Software for its unique global parcel carrier capabilities. The ability to support multiple countries, carriers, and currencies as well as provide real-time transit time calculations for carrier services from one system, were major differentiators in the decision-making process. The PRECISION TMS solution is implemented at the St. Witz, France distribution warehouse and is integrated with the company’s main ERP system (Oracle E-Business Suite) for European Distribution Centers. Shipments are automatically passed from Oracle to PRECISION where shipping operators are.
