BRAND OVERVIEW Our brand is the red thread that needs to run through everything we do. Our brand encompasses the behaviors, values and attitudes that promote a unified vision, mission and strategy for QAD. Our brand is our promise to our customers. The QAD brand signifies who we are and what distinguishes us from our competitors; it expresses the vitality of our company, our products and — most importantly — our customers. The added value intrinsic to brand equity frequently comes in the form of perceived quality or emotional attachment — albeit intangible, it is an important factor in both customer retention and acquisition. Make no mistake, a brand is more that just a logo or tagline. It shows up everywhere: our buildings, websites, products, people/services, communications and templates. As QAD employees, we are each responsible for upholding the standards of the QAD brand and accurately promoting the QAD vision. The QAD Brand Book provides information and guidelines on the fundamental pieces of the QAD brand, including logos, color palette, and QAD divisions. By following a few simple guidelines, you will help support and grow the QAD brand identity across all the mediums we use to communicate. This includes stationery, signage, marketing materials, websites, mobile devices, and other media.

PRIMARY LOGO The full-color logo (at right) is the primary logo and used for most brand applications. The logo is made up of two elements: the globe symbol and the QAD wordmark. These two elements are always placed in a fixed relationship and should never be altered, modified, or reproduced in any way. A proportional measuring system has been developed for consistant logo layout use across all QAD brand assets. The system is based on “x” (the stroke weight of the type in the wordmark). The symbol is 8x in height and width. The spacing between the symbol and wordmark is a width of 2.5x.

TAGLINE
EMBOSSED
In addition to the standard horizontal layout, a stacked logo placement is acceptable. The stacked version of the logo is used in instances where a horizontal logo is too small or not fully visible.
QAD’s tagline is: Our Passion. Your Advantage. When using the logo with tagline, the tagline should not be set in any font other than Trade Gothic Bold No. 2. The tagline aligns flush left to the symbol and flush right to the right edge of the letterform “D” as shown at 100% black (or 100% white when in reverse). Never alter the tagline in any way.
When an embossing (or de-bossing) of the logo is requested, a special logo may be used. This iteration of the logo removes the gradient application from the sphere of the symbol to allow successful printing in the case of silk screening, size constraints, or a difficult surfaces.
The logo with tagline is not used when the size of the logo deems the tagline unreadable. If the resolution or manner in which the logo needs to be printed effects readability, the tagline is not to be included. The stacked logo with tagline may be used in cases where it better fits the space.
In most cases, the embossed logo without tagline is preferred.
REVERSE The reverse corporate logo is for use on all solidcolor or four-color backgrounds. It is not a true reverse, however, as the sphere remains blue or gray (black halftone) with a white highlight — the same as in the non-reverse versions. The sphere color is always blue or gray and is never a solid color.

CLEAR SPACE & SIZING The logo is always positioned in an area of clear space that is unobstructed by other competing visual elements, backgrounds or text. This ensures the visual integrity and maximum legibility of the QAD logo.

MINIMUM CLEAR SPACE The logo must be surrounded by a minimum space equal to 3x (where x is the stroke width of the type in the wordmark).
MINIMUM SIZE The logo is not to be displayed smaller than 16px tall (print equivalent is 16 points).

INCORRECT USAGE To preserve the integrity of the QAD brand do not disassemble, revise, reconstruct or crop the logo.
RESOLUTION ACROSS MEDIA TYPES The logo is always used at a high resolution to achieve maximum legibility. Each version of the corporate logo has been created digitally and made available as a scalable graphic file. It is very important to use the correct file type of the corporate logo for the best quality reproduction. If the logo is being used in a printed document or on signage, use the .EPS formatted file at a minimum of 300dpi. The .EPS format is a vector type graphic which means it can be scaled without loss of quality. Other acceptable vector formats include .AI and some .PDF files.

In the case of four-color (CMYK) printing, highresolution raster-based files like .PSD, .TIF, and even .JPG may be acceptable if prepared correctly. For screen-based electronic media or PowerPoint a .PNG is the preferred format at 150ppi but .JPG format is also acceptable at 150ppi. Web graphics usually require a .PNG, .JPG, or .GIF format at 72ppi. Occasionally, logos are used for mobile applications, and the same rules for web use apply. However, for retina screens .PNG files at 220ppi are optimal.

COLOR PALETTE Having a simple, strong and unified color palette for your brand leads to a strong and unified presence in the marketplace. The QAD logo consists of two colors: blue and black (reverse consists of blue and white). QAD primary colors are gray and blue, with the occasional orange accent. Layouts need to maintain a generous use of white space, restricting color use to grounding bands and headlines and subheads.

For added flexibility, there are corresponding tints for each color. It is acceptable to use 75%, 50%, and 25% tones when additional color variations are needed. The color designations provided include hexidecimal, RGB, and CMYK equivalents as well as Pantone values (where applicable). When reproducing colors refer only to the designated values; do not attempt to match from this document as various renderings will not provide true color.

TYPOGRAPHY The QAD font for all printed materials is Trade Gothic. This typeface is classic, simple, easy to read and conveys confidence. Only this font should be used for all text communication in materials. Commitment to this font will create a consistent and strong identity.
ALTERNATIVE TYPEFACES Other more widely available fonts can be used in place of Trade Gothic when creating or working on shared documents like PowerPoint, where Century Gothic can be substituted. Use Arial when there are limitations to consider, such as the Web or standardized word processing.
BOLD, ITALIC AND UNDERLINING Bold and italic styling may be applied as needed within body copy, but are used sparingly. Underlining may be used to demonstrate a Web link, but is avoided in all other cases.
