.NET USER INTERFACE
.NET USER INTERFACE DATA SHEET QAD .NET USER INTERFACE The QAD .NET User Interface (.NET UI) provides a common framework for multiple QAD applications. It has excellent performance and provides best-practice usability and deployment features and extensive ways for users to adapt the UI to their preferred work style. Because QAD based the user interface on Microsoft .NET technology, it incorporates familiar user interface metaphors, reducing the need for users to learn how to navigate QAD applications. .NET UI helps reduce training time by offering integrated process maps for step-by-step navigation. Pre-loaded based on industry best practice, you can tailor these easily to reflect your business processes, with attachments for operating procedures, work instructions or training videos. Leveraging process maps, customizable menus and user-defined collections, .NET UI can eliminate waste and reduce errors. Processes become more efficient and workers become more productive when all of the information needed is available from one screen and one mouse click accesses the next logical step. .NET UI reduces manual processes by letting users attach and search for all relevant documents on-line, rather than file them away in a cabinet. Configurable browses make it easy to find exactly the information you need, grouped, sorted and summarized, then optionally exported to a worksheet for further manipulation. Decision-makers can access up-to-theminute information, without the need for re-keying.

.NET UI reduces complexity and focuses attention with flexible workflow and workflow messaging, built in alerts and graphical displays. Workflow tools help you share and analyze critical information, sending notes, attaching documents and embedding links. Additionally, .NET UI reduces information technology cost, eliminating the need to make program changes in order to change screens, customize forms, or develop ad hoc reports. Anyone with access to an on screen browse can quickly download data to Excel or generate a formal report, complete with totals, subtotals and corporate look and feel, and a PDF with bookmarks that allow report navigation online. The Template Designer immediately reflects changes to logos, fonts and color schemes on all reports and forms, allowing you to adapt quickly to business changes without programming effort. You can configure all data entry screens for all users, specific roles or business units, adding or removing fields, changing tab order, setting default values, and specifying required or display only fields. You can even add new fields without programming. Less customization makes it simpler and faster to migrate to new releases and take advantage of new capabilities. Using .NET UI tools to reduce complexity and tailor the applicaton to match the way your people like to work, improves productivity, decreases errors and lets you provide better service to your customers.
VALUE AND BENEFITS The primary value you will receive from the .NET UI will be faster customer response time. You will be better able to achieve your performance targets for key customer service and fulfillment metrics. You will get a greater return on the assets deployed in your application processes. Improves customer response time. Users have one-click access to all of a customer’s information and supporting details. Customers no longer sit on hold while your sales administrator searches for information. Reduces training cost. Leveraging a familiar user interface and built-in process maps removes the need to train workers on basic navigation and reduces the amount of time it takes to train new people. Additionally, reducing the amount of customization lets you leverage on demand training available through QAD. Reduces information technology cost. Tools allow tailoring the system to your business needs without requiring expensive customizations; reduce implementation time and the cost of ongoing maintenance. It is also easier and less expensive to migrate to new releases and the new capabilities they offer. Decreases errors. Intuitive processes and customized data entry screens reduce costly data entry errors. Ad hoc reporting eliminates the need to re-key data into off-line spreadsheets, decreasing errors and the bad decisions that can arise from bad data.

KEY FEATURES • Provides a common framework based on Microsoft .NET technology, reducing training time and improving productivity by allowing users to adapt the application to their preferred work style. Usability and deployment features of .NET UI minimize the need for costly custom development, decreasing overhead cost and enabling process standardization across the organization. • Process maps provide step-by-step navigation. Pre-loaded based on industry best practice, these are easily customized to reflect your internal business processes and may include attachments for documents like operating procedures, work instructions or training videos. • Role-based process maps reduce training time and guide new or infrequent users through each process. Familiar “breadcrumb” navigation and other user interface metaphors common to Microsoft products reduce the need for users to learn how to navigate QAD Enterprise Applications.
transaction. Attach any type of file using standard drag and drop techniques. • Improve decisions with consistent, timely information that replaces spreadsheets and manual reports. The decision maker can easily create browses and reports without assistance, eliminating the errors that occur when data is re-keyed. Save Browse criteria for later reuse. • Workflow messaging, built-in alerts and graphical metrics focus time and attention. Users can easily navigate from one application to another, with multiple workspaces and programs open simultaneously. Rearrange windows within a workspace to match business process or preference. • Simplify processing by tailoring data entry screens by adding or removing fields, flagging mandatory fields, setting default values and changing tab sequence, with different settings for different users or roles. • Reduce custom code with configurable screens, flexible browses, Excel® integration and the report template designer that lets you adapt the system without affecting the underlying programs. This reduces the amount of custom code you need to support and makes it simpler to upgrade to new releases as they become available.
• User favorites, customized collections with oneclick access to related activities and “auto-start” functions make regular users more efficient. In many cases, a user may never need to leave their initial sign on screen. • Replace paper files by storing source documents on line, associated with the related data item or ©QAD INC.
