CREATING VALUE THROUGH RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT The Asia-Pacific is expected to be the region with the most dynamic growth in aviation throughout the next ten years. As a major air hub and a leading base in Asia for aerospace companies, Singapore plays a significant role in the industry’s development. In keeping with our strong track record of being a great home for aerospace businesses, we have set our sights on creating value for the industry by investing in research and talent. Aerospace research and development will be a competitive factor and future driver of economic growth for Singapore. As the lead agency for industry-relevant research in Singapore, the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR) collaborates with industry through its Aerospace Programme.
Started in 2007, the Programme fea t u re s a g row i n g i n d u s t r y consortium comprising a select membership from leading aerospace OEMs and Singapore aerospace companies. Consortium projects are pre-competitive in nature and distinguished by the way they are identified and driven by industry needs. Aerospace companies also work bilaterally with A*STAR on commissioned or collaborative research. Our emphasis is on fostering synergies between Aerospace industry members and the Research Institutes, thus maximising research results and stretching the research dollar for industry. In all our research collaborations, economic impact is an important consideration.
A*STAR’s Research Capabilities Aerospace research is performed at A*STAR’s seven physical sciences and engineering Research Institutes. These employ more than 1,350 fulltime researchers across multiple disciplines.
