Q Acoustics set out to redefine the possibilities of audio systems that can be fitted into the fabric of the home. For too long install systems were designed for entire house system wiring to a central point, which is complicated, time consuming and expensive to fit. E120 is built into the walls and ceiling, leaving valuable worktop or table space free of ‘black box’ clutter. The development of E120 presented many challenges as Paul Hilditch, product manager at Q Acoustics, explains: “Firstly, we wanted the in-wall panel to fit into a standard UK double gang electrical box and have the same external size as a light switch so that it can be placed alongside other electrical switches and blend seamlessly into the wall. We wanted E120 to have more amplifier power and more connectivity than the previous E series product and so the engineering team had to work hard to make it fit in the small space the back box provides.”

The main E120 wall panel is available in stylish white or black and includes a colour display and convenient touch sensitive buttons. Paul continues, “To make the wall panel suitable for kitchens and bathrooms it had to be IP54-certified for electrical safety in special zones. We added an internal gasket and a ‘push and click’ fitting mechanism to prevent water ingress. This design also creates clean lines with no fitting screws or brackets visible when installed.”

E120 features a digital DAB+ radio tuner, FM tuner, Bluetooth wireless audio plus an audio input for TV sound and an audio output to connect an external subwoofer.
