Olivia Rodrigo Thinks You Look Good

Actor, singer, and performer becomes the first Glossier ambassador since they launched in 2014.

Olivia Rodrigo is a multitalented actor and singer, starting out on the Disney Channel show Bizaardvark, and later starring as the lead in the Disney+ original show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. The latter was an experience which allowed her to outlet her creativity, writing original songs for the show that unexpectedly became commercial successes and led to her signing a record deal with Interscope Records. After she released her debut single, ‘Drivers License’, came her first album, Sour, which won Best Pop Vocal Album and the former winning Best Pop Solo Performance, as well as Rodrigo herself claiming Best New Artist, at the GRAMMYs. Her rising success has her on the brink of becoming a household name after attending events like the MET Gala and touring parts of the world, with her personal style that Gen Z love to follow.

She found her personal fashion style while performing and being on tour…

She took control of Glastonbury stages in knee-high leather platform boots, fishnet tights and a plaid purple crop top and mini skirt ensemble – something reminiscent of Avril Lavigne in 2009. Despite wearing alternative looks, she kept her make-up look natural.

Her signature simple make-up look is all about minimal coverage….

She often wears a nude lipstick and winged eyeliner embraces make-up that “emphasises what you got”. This is why her partnership with Glossier makes perfect sense, with the company’s creative director Marie Suter stating that “Olivia is a Glossier girl because she is unapologetically true to herself” – a key aspect of the company’s make-up, with their main aim being to make customers feel good in their own skin.

“I think it’s about feeling good in your own skin and having fun with the process. That’s really shaped how I think about beauty and why working with Glossier has felt really natural”.

Olivia’s creative input as a result of her role as ambassador…

The natural make-up company’s first campaign video with Rodrigo was – a seemingly Y2K inspired video captured by camcorders and fish-eye lenses as she showcases her deeply tinted lips and sharply winged eyeliner in repeated close up shots. Suter explained that with the company’s first ever collaboration she wanted to “challenge the notion of what a ‘typical’ celebrity beauty partnership looks like in a really fun and personal way”.

What does her role as ambassador mean for her?

Due to the new partnership, an ‘Olivia’s Favourites’ collection is available on the Glossier website, consisting of Boy Brow, Pro Tip eyeliner and Ultralip in a bundle. As well as this, Olivia has collaborated with the company to create her own limited edition collection, with a custom lavender make-up bag that includes the Ultralip and Monochromes refillable eyeshadow, as well as other exclusively purple branded products.

It’s clear that Olivia embodies the Glossier ethos, shown in her message for their brand’s cult following; “if I could send a note to the Glossier community, I’d say, you look good exactly as you are”.
