First Draft Literary Socials Write a story. Have a drink. Write a better story.

This is how it goes: participants are led in a short, themed writing prompt, then everyone gets some time to write their stories. Those who want to, will read their work aloud. We’ll take a break to drink, eat and socialize, (your first drink is always on the house!) then we start the whole process over again. Lip Service is Miami’s own, homegrown, live, true-storytelling event, dedicated to presenting the smartest, hottest, and most honest stories in South Florida. Storypalooza! is Lip Service’s open-mic event, where participants get feedback from Lip Service’s editing pros. Read to Learn Books for Free Because when children read, they succeed.

Read to Learn Books for Free is an early childhood literacy program of The Children’s Trust in partnership with Miami Book Fair at Miami Dade College. Every child can take home a free book from any of our 40 bookshelves placed throughout Miami Dade County. Every year, we distribute over 160,000 free books to these bookshelves at community action centers and health clinics, juvenile justice centers, and more. For a list of bookshelves and book drive drop-off sites, visit miamibookfair.com.
