An Evening With Harry Belafonte during the 2011 Miami Book Fair drew more than 700 fans.
From November 11-18, 2012, downtown Miami will become the center of the literary world.
Join us for our yearly celebration of great books and authors! • More than 400 authors present their books in more than 150 concurrent readings. From novels and nonfiction, to poetry, graphic novels, children’s, YA, art, lifestyle, and cooking. • Evenings With... six nights with some of the most popular and important writers of our time. • 20,000 schoolchildren and college students dialogue with authors at the Fair and all around the city. Thousands of books are distributed free of charge. • The IberoAmerican Authors Program presents acclaimed authors from Spain and Latin America. They join authors from all over the world, especially from the Caribbean and Haiti. • More than 200,000 people visit the Fair to hear their favorite authors; shop for books; attend art exhibits; enjoy music, dance, and theatre performances; and partake of the magic of Children’s Alley. • Over the years, the Evenings With… series has presented 13 Nobel Laureates, some more than once, including Orhan Pamuk, Al Gore, Toni Morrison, Octavio Paz and Elie Wiesel. • People of all ages love the Fair. Students from private and public schools in Miami-Dade, Broward and other counties come on field trips each year. The Fair is also a favorite of senior citizens. • The Fair is a trailblazer. The New York Times noted that “the current wave of book festivals in many ways stems from the Miami Book Fair, which got its start in 1983 and has come to be the model for the others.”
Celebrated as the finest literary gathering in the country, the 29th Miami Book Fair International will touch the lives of hundreds of thousands of people of all ages. And you can help us do it.

Chuck Palahniuk’s passionate fans numbered more than 800 at his 2011 Miami Book Fair reading.
The Fair needs you. Dear Book Lover, From its modest beginnings as Books by the Bay, our Book Fair has grown into the finest and largest cultural and literary event in the country. However, rarely is success accidental. The Fair’s evolution from a two-day street fair into an eight-day, world-class event took hard work and the contributions of many. Year after year, Fair volunteers, organizers and other supporters help the Fair grow and innovate. The determination to take a great event and make it even better is today as strong as ever.
The Fair has grown a lot over the years, but one thing remains constant — we still need your support. In fact, we depend on it. With your help, the Fair navigated through some of the most difficult economic times in recent history, and we are now better than ever. And our plans even bigger. If you are new to our family — welcome! You have joined a group of forward-thinking supporters of culture and the arts. If you have not yet had the opportunity to consider your role in this year’s Miami Book Fair, please take a moment to review the membership and sponsorship options described in this brochure, including our various Friends levels, and the newly formed Patrons’ Circle. Supporters of the Miami Book Fair feel proud that their contributions facilitate the promotion of literature and literacy, a critical and necessary component of any culture. Join our family of book lovers, and help us continue a literary legacy that has lasted nearly thirty years... and is still going strong.

Other ways you can support the Fair. Patrons’ Circle ($3,000 and up) As we begin preparations for the Fair’s 30th anniversary in 2013, we invite you to join the newly formed Miami Book Fair International’s Patrons’ Circle, the cornerstone of an ambitious three-year fundraising campaign that will give the Fair the most important birthday gift of all — a secure financial future.
For a minimum gift of $3,000 to the Fair’s endowment fund, you will play a critical role in supporting the Fair’s future. As a Patron, we hope you will also serve as a Fair ambassador within our community, introducing friends and colleagues to the benefits of membership. Please make an invaluable philanthropic contribution to the long-term financial stability of the Fair. Let’s guarantee that the next 30 years will be even more successful than the first.
Become an important supporter of great literature — and literacy. Join the Patrons’ Circle. For more information: www.miamibookfair.com or 305-237-3258.
