A LETTER FROM THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR The U is #BuildingChampions! The 2014-15 athletics campaign was one of great success for the University of Miami. The success shared by our student-athletes both in the classroom and in competition is made possible through the generous support of our donors, fans and alumni. Thanks to the generous support of our record-setting 8,000-plus members of the Hurricane Club and our more than 30,000 football season ticket holders, we are achieving excellence across the board as an athletics program. As a department, we had nine programs qualify for postseason play and 24 student-athletes recognized as All-Americans. I would like to congratulate Paige Yaroshuk-Tews’ women’s tennis program, which returned to the Sweet and Jim Morris’ baseball team which earned the program’s 24th College Baseball World Series appearance. Both programs extended their impressive postseason streaks: women’s tennis advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the 10th-consecutive year and baseball posted its nation-leading 43rd consecutive NCAA postseason appearance. Our student-athletes continue to achieve success in the classroom as well. All 18 programs scored at least 960 on the most recent NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) report, with five programs receiving Public APR Recognition Awards for the second-consecutive season. Our Graduation Success Rate of 92 percent is among the best in the country and this spring semester ended with our program GPA at 3.0. This past year, our athletics department continued to invest in our student-athletes with the opening of our new athletics training table, a state of art video scoreboard at basketball, a nutrition center in the Hecht and the addition of lights to our Greentree Practice Fields, all of which only further enhanced our facilities. Thank you for standing with the U and helping in building champions. You truly make a difference in the lives of our student athletes. We are looking forward to a great 2015-16 athletics year. Go Canes!

Blake James, Director of Athletics
