NABJ, JPR&NM Students, Faculty & Staff Host Members of the Connally High School Quill Club Members of the Connally High School Quill Club visited the Department of Journalism, PR & New Media on April 21. Participants enjoyed a lecture in Dr. Sara Stone’s law and ethics class, a tour of Castellaw, lunch at the East Village Cafeteria and a campus tour. The 15 participants were joined by Lori Kreder, Connally High School’s Quill sponsor and journalism teacher. Kreder is a graduate of the Baylor journalism program, who has taught in the Connally school district for more than 20 years. Kreder expressed deep gratitude for the time and effort the department put into making the event a success.

“Words cannot express how much I appreciate the time and effort you and your students gave for my students to have a outstanding experience at Baylor today,” Kreder said. “My students loved it, and so did I! The day exceeded all my expectations.” The department will offer high school campus visits each fall and spring. “We are anxious to have members of the Connally Quill Club return,” said Dr. Mia Moody-Ramirez, event organizer and NABJ sponsor.
The Student Union Building
Castellaw Tour Paul Carr, Director of Student Publications, provided a tour of the Lariat lab and answered questions regarding jobs on the various student publication staffs. Senior Lecturer Carol Perry offered a brief tour of the design lab and discussed the design course offered in the department.
Other Stops Other stops included the Student Union Building, Bill and Eva Williams Bear Habitat, the SLC and the Paul L. Foster Business Building.
Student Panel Discussion Baylor JPR&NM ambassadors and members of the National Association of Black Journalists served on a panel during lunch. They answered questions about Baylor, in general, and the department. Members of these two groups also provided the campus tour.
Campus Keepsakes The Baylor bookstore, Campus Visits, the Lariat and JPR&NM shared keepsakes with attendees to help them remember the special visit.
