HISTORIC PRESERVATION Degree Project Instructor: Antonio Sanmartin
International institute is located on South Grand near tower grove, it is an institute for immigrants. Before this program, the building was used by St Elizabeth academy. Because of the same purpose of building usage, international institute is operating in a balanced state academically. While this building is providing full cooperation and guidance for immigrants on their resettlements, some entertaining and learning space would improve the immigrants’ learning and mentation into a more complete state. It needs something more than just an institute.

URBAN PAVILION PROJECT Washington University in St Louis Instructor: Elena Canovas
page 12
The building’s strategy is to reflect the local mosaic pattern. Each cell of this pattern could add depth and transfer into building space, landscape or pavements. Since the building gives more open space to the more permeable sides, the building is set back from East and South side and gives more building density to west side. A bridge is across the trainrail all the way to the zoo to provide more convenient access from site to the other side. The building is two stories high with first floor much more public than second floor.

First floor is purposed as a gathered space, second floor is much focused on more private gallery space. Sequence of this building starts from the beach side across to the north.

VERY FAST AIRPORT Fall 2015 Economic Airport Design(14 weeks) Instructor: Nanako Umemoto(WUSTL)
The "Very Fast Airport" is searching an innovative way of an economic airport while engaging a better typology using form. The initial inspirations came from forms created by several plastic water bottles or jugs. By repeating a certain part of water bottles, the initial form of an airport is made and will have a fluency and organization. Primarily the form created from bottles are divided into three big bubbles inside the skin, then the circulation found their way to go between the outside skin and inside bubbles. This idea continued and decided the strucuture, circulation and function.

STAGE & THEATER DESIGN Spring 2016 Stage/theater design(14 weeks) Instructor: Phil Holden(WUSTL)
This project looks into building a theater that potentially solve micro/macro urban conditions. Site is selected and decisions need to be made based on one's understanding of Chicago. SIte is chosen near the Aqua tower, behind Milleninum park. A 300 feet gap was found inbetween the Aqua tower and Aon office buildings. And this is where I chose my site, to use the theater and fill the site will flow of life. The theater has a combination of inside and outside stages, and provides adequate spaces for outdoor stage and street performers. The theater is looking into enhance and energize connections while start a visual and physical link in between two segregated places.

HOUSING DESIGN Fall 2014 Korea Housing Instructor: Sungho Kim(WUSTL)
The “flow of life is located in Dongdaemun between two commercial buildings and two market streets. In order to fit this residence into the high-populated area properly, the architecture is neccesary to be more hollow out than closed completely. One reason to connect the views between the street around Cheonggyecheon, The other reason to allow the residents be connected with the streets. Since the secondary streets are continuing the main streets, the building is also extended in the direction of secondary streets. The building contains two systems, ramps and individual housing. Ramps are flowing perpendicular to the streets, and housing units be attached to the ramps. Residents could enjoy their life on the ramps by viewing the Dongdaemun area, share and communicate with other residents.

REVIT PROJECT 1 2015&2016 Collaborative work and parametric design Instructor: Andrew Patty, Work partner: Christian Korta
The projects came from an advanced Revit class by Andrew Patty. The purpose of this course is to use parameters that exist in each building project to efficiently make changes and a clear cause of concept. For example, in the projects shown here, a residence tower is consisted of several single apartment units. In order to contain a model that is consistant and easy to vary the width, height and unit numbers, parameters and equations are set up in the first place to ensure the conceopt and rythme of this residence tower. This project is aiming for a convinient communication in discussions or modifcations, that there's no need to restart any model.

This project is also from one of the revit courses taught by Andrew Patty. The purpose is to understand the use of revit parameters and how to control it. For instance, a digital parametric pavillion is set up here with a free form of surface and number of units on top of it. The size and rotation angle of each single units are controlled by the position and height of them within this large surface. By these rules of controlling, and embrace one parameter within another one. The whole pavillion is an integrated project that contain several or more parametric properties. Meanwhile, we learned to express and display these changes by setting up charts to further understand the relationship of each unit.

Haze Filter Facade Instructor: Chandler Ahrens Spring2015 Group members: Li Gong, Tong Zhang
This project is produced based off environmental system course. A facade is required for an existing office building, the purpose is to filter and research on light measurement and building ventilation strategy, at the same time react to conditions in the specific site. Our site is in Beijing, China with haze has an environmental problem. Hence the parametric facade is designed to control the sun shading according to the building's orientation and created a filtered facade to control the amount of haze that came in.

HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICE(built) Project completed in Beijing, China(Internship) May,2015-August,2015 Duty: Partial design& drawing production
RSAA architects decided to settle their new office in a serene traditional courtyard house. This courtyard house is located in one of the most famous and crowded tourist site in Beijing, Bell&Drum tower. In order to enjoy the beautiful view of these two towers, we had an adventurous thought to build a glass box inside this courtyard house. People would climb up the box to stand on roof level and appreciate Bell&Drum tower without crowd or noise. At the same time, this glass box create an efficient way of extra interior space for serving the client, reading books and monthly party. Because of a variety of possible activites could happen here, the furnitures are design and created to be recombined like LEGO toy bricks. These furniture boxes could be transformed into party tables, reading chairs, book shelves, stairs, and even temporary bed.

Through visiting and framing of the NA house by Sou Fujimoto, architecture is divided into floating materials that has an immeasurable time feature. Framing Okurayama Apartment by SANAA, architecture is decreased into the minimal curves the building has started with. Every initial curve is a scenery with its surrounding.
