About Me
I am a student at Cal Poly studying graphic design and communication. My favorite part about graphic design is the ability to give a visual voice to what I read and hear. I love branding, social media campaigns, hand lettering,
and digital collaging. Some of my hobbies (other than art) include reading, baking, spending time at the beach, and going to concerts. Now that you know a little more about me, feel free to

Design Solution
To conceptualize a new business strategy resulting in a complete brand identity for a local business that is unique and recognizable.
The project began with an in depth analysis of existing businesses, a creative brief, business strategy, word lists and mind maps, all prior to designing. Logotype, primary and alternative marks, and graphic elements for the company were designed. A business system was created, which consisted of physical, digital, and print applications, as well as a standards manual.
Honeygirl Smoothie Co.
Logotype is hand lettered script that looks like it was poured onto the page, similar to how honey is drizzled.
Primary mark is a hexagon designed to represent the way a smoothie looks when it is being blended.
The type family used is Montserrat.

Honeygirl Smoothie Co. is an open kitchen restaurant that serves smoothies, bowls, and pressed juices. Our mission is to cultivate an affordable, healthy-eating lifestyle in the community that is both enjoyable and informative for customers and employees. We want it to be viewed as an eatery that is affordable, trendy, welcoming, tasty, and healthy. Our promises include providing healthy dining options, preparing and serving good tasting food, and to make healthy eating affordable. The top three goals for the business are to serve high quality products, create a strong rapport between customers and company, and function as a central hub for group meetings or for for students to study.

There are specific goals for growth for the business. The biggest place of growth will be transforming it from a “fast food” dining experience to becoming a place that people want to spend lots of time at. We also want to expand to other locations to be able to cater to other clientele. For the image of the business, we want to be trendy, ‘gram-able,’ and welcoming. Ideally, people will walk in and be inspired or excited about the way the business looks. In 5 years, the company should be profitable and able to expand to other locations in SLO County. In 10 years we should expand state-wide and be a “must visit” location in travel magazines or blogs for large cities. The most important and long term goal is to stay connected to the social and dietary trends of the clients. Ultimately, I wish to create a brand identity that is unique, cohesive and recognizable. Creating a strong brand identity will lay the foundation for meeting the company’s goals.

To design informational website for Along Comes Hope, a local nonprofit that provides financial relief for families with children who have cancer.
The final design relied heavily on friendly imagery, mostly of children and families. A warm and calming color palette was used, as well as minimal illustrations to prevent decorative elements from overwhelming the content. Final deliverables were fully rendered prototypes and micro interactions for both web and mobile screens.
Along Comes Hope
The body text is Roboto, because it has a range of weights and is easy to read on the web.
The header font is decorative and fun, but still readable.

To redesign the packaging of Snapple. Their current branding is busy and targeted at a younger audience, so the main goal was to create new packaging with a minimalist design that would appeal to college age students and millennials.
The key message for this redesign was that a favorite children’s drink has ‘glowed up,’ keeping the same great taste but with a modern look. The project contains a creative brief, new logo and iconography, The flavors designed were apple, grape, lemonade, and green tea. In addition to designing the labels and carriers, physical 3-D mock ups were made and photographed.
Snapple Packaging
A rounded, humanist sans serif was used. The “L in Snapple wraps all the way around the bottle.
Iconography uses fruit outlines.

Creative Brief Project Name: Snapple Package Design Version: 1 Date: 09 January, 2020 Participants: Mia Scibelli-Marez, Designer Objectives: To repackage Snapple beverages in order to attract an older clientele, instead of predominately for children. It will be the same beverage but with a modern, minimalistic design that is reflective of a higher end beverage. The beverage will return to being packaged in a glass bottle, and the carrier will be made out of recycled cardboard. Because the drink has a reputation for being sugary and unhealthy, we hope the simplistic and environmentally friendly design/packaging will convince the consumer that it is as good for them as it is for the planet. Timeframe: 09 January, 2020 to 02 February, 2020 Primary Audience Demographic: Young adults (aged 18-30) who enjoy modern aesthetics.
Primary Audience Beliefs: Food doesn’t have to be flashy to be good. Simple is better, sleek, and professional. Current Behavior: Buy things for ‘clout,’ posts on social media, impulse purchases. Interested in ecofriendly options. Desired Behavior: Inspired to purchase Snapple based on how the packaging looks, as well as a nostalgic wish to consume a beverage from their childhood. Tone: Mature, simple, transparent. Key Message: A favorite children’s drink gets a makeover and grows up. Same great taste but with a modern look. Secondary Messages: Simple packaging = simple ingredients. You are as sophisticated as the drinks you consume.

To conceptualize a new business strategy resulting in a complete brand identity for a local business that is unique and recognizable.
The process for the project used InDesign, Illustrator, and Adobe Fresco to come to a solution. The final piece uses hand lettering, a sans serif typeface and single line drawings. Symbols from King Lear and As You Like I were incorporated into the main visual piece. A dark background was utilized in order to draw more attention to the poster, and chose this color palette to evoke a sense of summertime, which is when the plays are being performed.
