There are more than 800 million people who live with hunger and malnutrition in the world. In America, in reality, many people take food for granted and expect it to always be there. Obviously everyone in the world needs food to live. Some people in other regions are greatly affected by famine because they are not as prosperous as countries that are wealthy. There is hunger and famine world wide especially in Africa, Asia, and South America. This world hunger issue is becoming a huge conflict for farmers and consumers because of the rise of prices. Another issue is the goods being exported to other countries rather than distributing it out to their own country.

Other countries depend on resources that are sometimes only in one particular country.

Wealthy countries dominate the purchase which decreases the amount given to the people of their own country.

Hunger in Africa In Africa it is well known about the global issue of malnutrition and hunger going on in their country. One area where it is particularly poor is Niger. In this country there are 2 million people facing malnutrition, most of them being children. One interesting example was during 2006 where the country was hit hard by the food shortage even after a good farming season that left them weak and hungry as they kept going on with the year struggling to get food. Drought is a huge problem that affects the production of food. Without rainfall food production is greatly decreased while at the other end of the spectrum when rainfall is tropical storms this also destroys crop production. The reason it is so hard is because the food prices are doubled because of the poor economy.

Niger is one of the poorest nations in the world. Once a food shortage has started it has a huge impact on the people and creates life to be difficult. People have gotten used to the fact that one in five children who live in Niger die before the age of 5.

Hunger in Asia In Asia there has been a huge decline in the amount of food produced and increasing numbers of starving adults and children. The increase in the rate of population over the increase in food production has resulted in a shortage of food supply. One region where hunger is becoming extremely worse is in South Asia. A country such as India has been affected greatly by the food shortages.

South Asia has higher levels of child malnourished than even Sub-Saharan Africa which is an area that is very poor and has one of the worst hunger and food shortages in the world. There was a survey/test taken

to find out results of the countries that are the most affected by the hunger and food shortage problem. India was very high on the list close to Sub-Saharan Africa. India is known to be a prospering powerful country, but with its over population and slum areas it is difficult to nurture and provide for their entire country successfully.

Hunger in South America In South America food shortage and hunger is a huge issue has been an increasing conflict throughout this region over the past years. One issue that is causing this food problem for the population is the lack of income that does not allow them to afford food for themselves or in some cases their families. In South America they are known for their agriculture and their rich and fertile land for good food production.

The only conflict that is stopping the country to prosper is the fact that their population is growing rapidly and their produce is not able to feed everyone along with the exporting of goods to other countries as well. In some areas of South America there are places where it is not as wealthy which causes these huge hunger deficits.
