MASTER

RAMMED EARTH SITTERWERK

MASTER 2 | 2017 professor : Roger Boltshauser site : Sittertal - Sittererk - St. Gallen program : art pavilion

Part of the future planning for the Sittertal site are the establishment of temporary exhibits, studio and workspaces for art workshops, as well as sleeping facilities for artists, students and staff. During the course of the semester we will be checking space densification options of the entire site for the newly required premises and a vision is to be developed in the form of a master plan. In addition to the large-scale studies the focus will shift during the course of the semester to the specific design of a pavilion which will then be realised on a one-to-one scale during the spring school session. A new awareness and way of thinking in dealing with ending resources lets us explore within this semes- ter the various characteristics of the material earth. We have designed a pavilion for the artist Ugo Rondinone. The pavilion is made out of rammed earth vertical modules tightened together with cables. We propose a new system of modules of rammed earth and steel. 6

TROUBLE WITH CALSSICISTS

MASTER 1 | 2016

Piazza Roma, Brugherio, Italy

professor : Kersten Geers site : Milano program : commons

With the cloister as a model we can propose a series of cells around a courtyard. We have then used the caravansérail as a type.

Senior’s Garde

For us, the courtyard is as important as the building itself. In this project, the courtyard is not a simple formal answer of the type we’ve chosen. This courtyard is indeed the living room of the project. We propose 3 typologies of apartments: solo, couple and shared apartment for 3 or 4 friends. The couples and shared apartment are located upstairs because they are more independent and autonomous. In he ground floor, in direct link with the courtyard we can find the solo typology and some care facilities as well. Each typology has a small living room that works as a private seuil or they can be extant to the generous corridor when people have visits. In order to offer the possibility to have a big shared living room in the garden we have covered the covered with a glass roof supported by a metallic structural grid. The courtyard becomes a covered park, like a greenhouse. The atmosphere is completely different from the exterior park. Senior’s Garden

The project, with this covered courtyard as a senior’s garden is thought more like a home and less like a hospital.

BACHELOR

DAS ROTE WIEN WIENERHOFE

BACHELOR 3 | 2014-2015 professor : Luca Ortelli site : Wien program : housing

This project has evolved with the aim to create a forest in the Hof‘s courtyard. The idea is that the building enter into a dialogue with the forest. In other words, the image of the tree trunk would be transcribed in the facade by an ornementation. This forest provides an unexpected space in the middle of the urban tissue and offers various spaces for the residents of the building. The desire to produce a viennese building allowed me to develop my interest in the thematic of the coating in architecture. Indeed, Vienna is marked by Wagner’s teaching who had studied Semper. The forest, symbolized in the courtyard, is transposed onto the facade. The pattern is then made of oak leaves and acorns. The oak tree is predominant in Viennese forests.

UNDERGROUND ARCHITECTURE

BACHELOR 2 | 2013-2014 professor : Dominique Perrault site : EPFL program : spiritual space

This underground project consists of a silent main space dedicated to the rest of the spirit. We also find places favoring the sharing and the exchange such as a lounge, a coffee and an outside park. The whole project allows a readable and adapted circulation in the various routes of the campus. We have defines the depth of our spaces according to their degree of intimacy. Therefore, the more a program is intimate, the more it will be taken away from the surface, preventing any outside nuisances to obtain a quiet absolute. Given that the project is located in a student campus, a place of knowledge but also of stress, we looked for a certain level of comfort and also tried to reduce the nuisances as much as possible.

PERSONAL WORK ILLUSTRATIONS

Although I stopped my medical studies, I try to keep involved in the various events organized by the students of the Faculty of Medicine. When there is a medical event my doctors friends contact me to make posters, flyers, illustrations or designs on t-shirt. On the next page there is a small selection of my work for the AEMG (Association des Etudiants en Médecine de Genève). The first poster is designed for the ‘‘Hôpital des nounours’’ of Geneva. This event helps to educate children to the medical world by games with their own toys. The second picture highlights the practice of general practitioners. The goal is to raise awareness that primary health is a specialization of the medical profession. The last one is a design printed on a gourd. These gourds are then distributed during an event of prevention against melanoma. 26
